2 reviews for North Tahoe Regional Park
When you are sore from skiing the day before, don't know how to ski/board, or just don't want to pony up for a lift ticket, sledding down a hill head first can help get you some of that rush you are missing out on.
After a day at Homewood I went here with some friends to enjoy 'Sled Hill'. $5 gets you access to two hills and lots of plastic sleds. You can sled down the hill as many times as you want (or are able to climb back up to the top). Even watching can be fun, you never know when someone is going to hit a bump and eat it (it's kinda like watching Nascar for the crashes)
If you're in North Tahoe this is a great way to kill a few hours.

$5 for a day of throwing oneself down a steep, snowy hill, on tiny plastic saucers that can spin you madly round and round on the snow-spraying descent, cackling or shrieking madly (as the mood hits you), trying to avoid the sidelines and groups of people with their digital cameras click-click-clicking away, half-blinded by the sun pounding down on white, white, white, sparkling snow.
Pure. Awesomeness.
Oh - and you can bring your pup as well.
Perhaps not on the sleds, but there are nice trails for her to romp through.

History
Established in 1968
The North Tahoe Regional Park was the original sewage treatment plant for the North Tahoe area. When the Porter-Cologne Act was passed by the State of California, it eliminated the treatment of sewage within the Tahoe Basin. Once the Tahoe Truckee Sanitation Agency Regional Treatment Plant was brought on line, the District's Board of Director's voted to turn this property into a Park. As the North Shore developed, fill from a variety of projects was brought in to fill in the treatment ponds and over time the many amenities available in the Park were developed, and continue to be developed today.
