Our family was happily surprised to see the new menu when we came in for dinner one night about 3 weeks ago - BBQ and southern cooking! We ordered the pulled pork sandwich and the brisket with hush puppies and the mac & cheese - WOW! our daughter lived in Nashville TN for 5 years but said this was the best southern cooking she ever had! We went back last weekend and had the BBQ plate sliders with the turkey and pork, hush puppies and the cole slaw - it was perfect! We all loved our meals. We've been eating there for over 10 years and love their burgers, but this was the best ever. My lemon drop martini was wonderful and my husbands fish tacos were excellent and way UNDER priced...hard to find these days. Staff was friendly and very good - as it always is. The waitresses and bar tenders are very nice and always say hello and goodbye to us. We loved it and highly recommend it.

The smell in the parking lot was of great charbroiled burgers. Food we received in the family dining room was just ok. My daughter's (read: kids menu) spaghetti was heavily peppered. I had the chicken Jaeger Schnitzle (I think that's what you call that)...very underseasoned/bland.

Food okay to good. Specials are nice deals and dining outside on Ellendale in the Summertime is a treat. Staff can be good to not good depending on who is working. Love the beerbattered onion rings and the bogo burger specials.

Our first choice for dinner was Washington St , but they were too packed, so we went to North Dallas Bar & Grill. We have been here before but, were not impressed.
But last night it was a disaster! First they could NOT get the order for water right. Yes we waited for 15 minutes for water and the waitress had to come back and ask again we we want to drink because she forgot! Water is hard to remember, as nobody hardly ever drinks it.
Then we placed our order, which we for 2 of us was broasted chicken. Our friend ordered prime rib medium rare. When we finally got our food, the prime rib was a good 30-40% fat, and it was extremely raw.
So we sent it back and at the same time heard the table behind us complaining of raw prime rib. The waitress commented to them it was the 3rd steak sent back in the last hour. So in about 10 minutes the steak comes back and it looks like a shriveled up piece of old shoe leather covered in blood with huge slabs of fat sticking to it. It was disgusting! We ask the waitress to look at it and she said oh that's the way all steaks look. It was covered in blood??? I broil and BBQ a lot of steaks and never have I prepared a steak or prime rib that looked like that. So after a bit of complaining we had them take the steak off, but they still charged for the baked potato.
In a positive note the broasted chicken was good, crisp outside and juicy inside.
So in reading the reviews, the one gives five stars for oyster shooter, how difficult is that? Another reviewer give this place 4 stars but complains about soggy cheesy fries and other problems with the food. Why give it 4 stars. The last review talks about how cheap the steaks were. What restaurant was he eating at? This is not a cheap eats restaurant! We spent almost 40 dollars last night after the steak was taken off. Oh and charging for the potato after serving that nasty piece of prime rib was adding insult in injury. So if you want good food in Dallas avoid this place. They cannot even serve water without problems. I suggest Washington St Pub and Restaurant the food is much better, more affordable, and the service above this over rated over priced grease pit! -

We showed up kind of late for the sirloin steak special that night, but they honored it nonetheless. We couldn't go inside because we had our under-age daughter with us, but they seated us in the outdoor patio next to a nice fire. The people were very friendly, courteous and fast. And the food was sensational! We couldn't believe how delicious the steaks were for so little money. Plus I got the crispy potatoes (can't remember what they actually call them) and they were awesome -- I'd never seen potatoes cooked that way but now I'm hooked. Including two adult dinners, three soda pops and an appetizer for the kid, we only spent $30. It would have been more if we hadn't got the special, but it would still be a great deal for great food.

Went there for lunch on Saturday with some family. We had 8 people, and they really aren't set up for more than parties of 5 or 6 it seems. But they did the ole push em tables together and it was comfortable enough.
For appetizers, we all shared an order of the cheesy fries with bacon and an order of the potato skins. The cheesy fries were a little soggy, but tasty. The potato skins were nice and crisp, and loaded high with toppings. Both were good size orders for appetizers.
For the main entree, I ordered the fried shrimp with a side of soup. I chose the Prime Rib Vegetable over Clam Chowder. The soup was nothing special, it tasted pretty much like condensed beef & vegetable soup. The shrimp were pretty good, large tiger prawns. They were fried nicely, I just wish there had been more than 4. Everyone else's portions seemed adequately sized though.
I also tried a bite of my wife's Dallas Saute Burger, and it was quite delicious.
Pros: Good appetizers. Fried Shrimp and Burger cooked well.
Cons: Shrimp portion a little on the small side, soup tasted canned.
