We spent two nights here last weekend, for our 20th anniversary. Phil and Sandy are so sweet, and very gracious and helpful. We felt like we were visiting friends for the weekend! They took the time to sit and chat with us, let us see some of the other rooms and basically made us feel like we were guests in their home.
The Gallery Room was spacious, clean and we loved the little deck to relax on. The gas fireplace made for two cozy evenings. Reggie the dog was so friendly and we enjoyed visiting with him on our deck. :)
Both breakfasts were delicious...with an egg dish, pastries and fruit, plus coffee and juices.
We had a wonderful time here and plan to go back again. Highly recommended!! Thank you Phil and Sandy for your hospitality!

The best bed & breakfast I've ever been to, and they seem to do it effortlessly. The house dog, Reggie, greeted me as I opened my car door. Our room was enormous and perfectly decorated. The food was great and the hospitality better than you'll find anywhere. Phil was away and Sandy did an excellent job overseeing everything one man down. After a few days, she felt less like our host and more like a friend.
In addition to everything mentioned above, the grounds are huge. You can stroll up a few levels and you're on a big stretch of grass seemingly away from everything. I sat and read a large chunk of my book in about half the time it would normally take. And in eyes view was the house hot tub.
Perfect.
phil and sandy were the most gracious hosts i've ever experienced. the hubs and i came here just a few days after we found out we were expecting so i feel a little nostalgic writing about this place.
the grounds - the setting is serene. though not situated right on the beach, you're surrounded by trees.
the dog - the house dog, reggie, got along with everyone and was totally at ease around our dog too.
the food - we tried a few restaurants in the gualala area and sandy's cooking was by far the best of any. homey and delicious.
the decor - none of that crappy frilly lace and crystal decor you often get at b&b's. this furniture is totally comfy and the rooms are cozy with hard wood floors and fireplaces.
i cannot say enough about this spot. a true, true gem!!

If you plan to stay on this part of the coast, pass up all the other lodging and stay here. This B&B quickly rose to the top of our B&B list. You'll quickly feel like you're at home, only better. A great change of scenery inside and out with wonderful rooms and beautiful gardens. The hearty breakfasts will make your day for exploring the coast. Phil, Sandy and Reggie, a great B&B dog, are great hosts. We would stay here again in a heartbeat.
DH planned a nice romantic get-a-way. A friend of his recommended NCCI and we were not disappointed. We stayed one evening in the Southwind Room overlooking the ocean and clear blue sky. It is located on the East side of Hwy 1 but it was quite and very homey.
The bed was so comfortable but my only complaint is a sitting shower. The tub is a jacuzzi though.
Phil and Sandy took over the property less than a year ago and are the nicest couple and very accommodating. I left two dresses hanging in the closet and I received it in the mail two days after our stay.
Breakfast was filling with fresh cut fruit salad, egg squares, crosspoint, and apple sausage.
The busy season is coming up but if you can ask for the Southwind rooms for the better view. I wished we could have stayed a second night because the grounds are very peaceful and secluded.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at NCCI... The room was perfect, and so were the breakfasts. Best of all, though, were the owners, Phil and Sandy. They made us feel totally at home, and we enjoyed our conversations and the tips they gave us on where to eat and what to see.
We stayed in what's probably their best room, the Southwind... It was high enough so that we could see the ocean between stands of trees across the street. The barking sea lions (invisible but constant) added to the ambiance of the place.
We'd definitely return, next time we visit. Maybe by then they'll have WiFi :-)

This is the place to go! a very charming, comfy, rustic getaway just north of Gualala and right across from one of the nicest stretch of beach in California. Very spacious main room with fireplace, kitchenette, dining table, writing table, four posted bed, and tons of quaint and interesting antiques and such. We also had a deck, which was great for the dog and for reading.
The ownership is very cordial and accommodating. The breakfasts were very good, especially the crustless quiches. My only complaint was that the baked goods were not fresh, but hey you cannot have everything I suppose!
The only real drawback was that our room faced the highway. Though there is not a lot of traffic, there is enough to remind you that you are not completely off the beaten path.
All that said, I still would recommend it heartily!

LOVED this place. Wish we could have stayed more than one day. We were there for a wedding that took place at the resort next door...having seen both, they were both cool, but I would come back to the North Coast Country Inn. Great rooms, great food, great innkeepers, great hot tub, lovely location, great dog! Reggie likes a scratch behind the ears, by the way.
I'm still craving the gorilla bread and a cup of coffee in the breakfast room. mmmmm...then maybe an 80's mystery novel from the library in our room, and a nap by the fire. I've never been so happy to not have tv/phone/internet!

We hauled in the day after our wedding - 6 hours behind schedule and at the end of our nerves. Phil and Sandy were welcoming and accommodating, even calling into town to make sure we got some dinner somewhere. They had a nice card and a bottle of wine ready for us. We stayed in the dog-friendly Gallery room, where our Iggy enjoyed hanging out with their dog Reggie. Breakfasts were wonderful, especially after seeing the galley that they're cooked in. There's a hot tub that peeks straight up through a small redwood grove and a wonderful meadow to stargaze from. The warmth and comfort more than make up for the lack of view. We'll be back!
