2 reviews for North Carolina Zoo
I remember coming here multiple times every summer as a child, then as a teenager, and never getting tired of the experience. There are so many animals, so much to see and enjoy, and not enough hours in the day to do it properly.
We always came here with my grandparents, and as my grandfather couldn't handle a lot of walking we usually ended the trip by riding the tram all the way around the zoo to catch the exhibits we hadn't been able to reach on foot. It was a good way to cool down and to relax after all that walking!
You can get a day pass or a season pass if you live close enough to make it worthwhile. There are sooo many animals, but also interactive exhibits and scenery so there is always something for everyone. My favorite was always the underground polar bear and penguin tunnels, where you could get right up close to see them swimming.
This zoo is huge!!! I am just sitting limp on the couch with aching legs from my 5 hrs of roaming around this zoo today...it is definitely worth the pain though! If you can go on a cooler day you can see the animals moving around more. But even though it was pretty hot out I still had great views of almost all the animals. Bring your own drinks as the drinks are a bit pricey but the food was actually pretty reasonably priced there.
