Ladies, there is no reason for you to go to Victoria's Secret and have to deal with crowded fitting rooms, hordes of women pawing over lacy undergarments, and underpaid sales clerks trying to upsell a matching panty for every bra and pushing for you to get their Angel credit card. Instead, head over to Nordstrom where you will be greeted immediately upon entering the lingerie section by a pleasant and helpful staff. On a Sunday afternoon, the third level of the store is quiet. No club thumping techno music, no cloying scent of Very Sexy lingering in the air. There's a couple of chairs for your man to sit down in and not feel awkward as you decide between utilitarian nude or that fun and funky fuschia bra.

I had actually come here for a fitting, and was helped by the assistant manager, Mary. She was quite informative and made the experience--dare I say?--fun. Turns out I am the wrong size, and have been the wrong size since college! Which is why every girl should go and get measured every year or so. Mary handed me a bunch of bras to try on. There was no pressure to buy this or that. I walked away with 3 new bras and $160 poorer. But that's the price you pay if you don't want saggy bosoms. And as I checked out, she handed me a business card where I can call if I have any questions later on. I don't think you can really match that level of service as VS (and believe me, I sat through a 4-hour orientation before quitting, so I know).

This is a very large Nordstrom with a fantastic selection for women, children, and men. However, there is no sense of separation between departments. After the recent renovation; the floor space opened up, the store looks larger and much more chaotic. Departments start and end abruptly with no transition. The Rail bleeds into Men's sportswear and suiting. On the third floor, browsing Dior and Givenchy pret-a-portier, a few steps to the right will find you in Via C looking at decontructed tops from Rag & Bone and Alice + Olivia.

The service, however, is still the unmatched Nordstrom Way. Associates bending over backwards to make sure you get your hard-earned moneys' worth when you shop here.

Great shoe selection in this store for casual or business wear.  The sales people are very helpful and give respectable opinions.
A quiet and pleasant shopping experience here.

If you like chaos, you will feel right at home in the newly remodeled Nordstrom at Tyson's Corner.  I have no idea what was behind their decision to reconfigure the floorspace into so many subdivisions and use such harsh lighting.  The redesign transformed a wonderfully soothing store with live piano music into something staccato and jarring. It's as if they brought in a team and deliberately swept out all the warmth. The only good news is:   Construction and the noise associated with it is over.

You might find yourself looking for the same item in several departments that seem unrelated to one another.  It's time-wasting and annoying.  Despite their wonderfully extensive shoe sections and their huge men's department (which seemed less changed than the women's clothing floor) I  was disappointed.  Sad note:   the lingerie department has been shoved into a corner on the second floor and is not glamorous at all. The children's department is still there along with the teen section, both on the ground floor.  Handbags (you can $1,000+ bags here) have gotten far more attention with bright lighting and more space on the first floor.

Yes, the garage to the side of the building is still the easiest place to park.

This review is just for the cafe.

I have been here many times, and the food is always good. I love the atmosphere, it is a great place to take a break from shopping.

The only problem is that the service is really a hit or miss. Sometimes they ask to refill your drinks and bring you bread. Other times you can't find a waiter anywhere!

I love Nordstrom more than any other department store on earth. I like their buying skills and their customer service. I like that people who remind my of my own mom can help me find what looks good on me. They are my one-stop shop for suits and interview attire, but they have great normal clothes too, including these great t-shirts by Majestic which I have a hard time finding anywhere. In fact, they have a lot of brands which are hard to find outside of New York.

I also have had a pretty great experience shopping on their website. I bought a coat on sale there once which I had found in a Brooklyn boutique. The Brooklyn store didn't have my size and the coat wasn't on sale. It was a trendy brand (LaRok) and none of the other big e-commerce sites had my size either except for good old Nordstrom. I bought my best friend a baby gift there-- a cute personalized rugby sweater for her boy-- and she loves it.

When I come here it's usually confined to just the 'rail' section of the store. I tend to get my 'baller' shirts as I affectionately call them here hahah.

When I am here the customer service is always great and there is one sales associate who remembers my name (although i feel really bad cause I don't remember his name). He is incredibly helpful. It's the perfect balance between not feeling smothered or pressured, but getting enough help if you can't find anything. He basically knows what I like now and is able to show me cool things they get in. And he also keeps me well-informed of when sales will be (you'd be surprised as to how cheap I am hahah).

The only reason I won't give this location 5 stars is they have too much 'old people' clothes in the store. The rest of the store has a lot of boring clothes that I think maybe id wear if i was a 55 year old white man...However I'm 25 years old and I like to look stylish if I can.

I'm not even sure if it's on the menu anymore, but they can still make the salmon BLT which I crave everytime I go out to Tysons to shop.  The soups are also really good.

Awesome service!

I was with the lady friend in Nordstroms as she was trying on shoes, clothes and all that jazz.

I saw a SWEET pair of Nike's...I mean ghetto fabulous. Instantly there was a salesmen there. He then insisted on measuring my feet and getting a few pairs of the same shoe for me to try on. He even used put them on for me. A few minutes later I was already checking out....all for a $60 pair of nikes...Not too bad.

Men's clothing selection is ok.

My favorite department store. I love Brass Plum -- unique stuff that won't cost you 2 months' salary. Customer service is stellar. Not to mention the live piano-playing.

The cafe is great: Stand in line, they have great salads that they'll make there. Wonderful pear and blue cheese salad, a barbeque chicken one is good too. If you order a panini, or a crab melt, something that needs to be cooked, they'll give you a little number stand and be out within a few minutes. Ample seating, and totally legit to go to either with your shopping companions or solo.

Customer service. It's what the Nordstrom brand was built on -- and the sales ladies delivered tonight.

Being the holiday season, I was armed with "da list." That long, arduous, expensive taskmaster of a shopping bonanza that weighs heavily on my time, not to mention my shrinking bank account.

I strolled into Nordstrom in search of a pair of women's jeans as a gift. Between the folded edges and coffee stains on the paper was scribbled "skinny jeans, size 4. skinny isn't a brand". Hmph. Easy enough ... she's a size 4, that's pretty skinny - makes complete sense to me.

I went about perusing the mind boggling variety of jeans to chose from. Sevens, Citizens, some designer named Jane? I dunno. Eventually a sales woman came over and asked if she could be of assistance. Umm... YES. I told her I needed a size 4, which in some cryptic metric jean math translated into a size 26. She asked the typical questions about what brand, style, etc. - and I informed her all I knew was that she wanted a size 4 skinny jean. Well lo and behold ... skinny jeans are actually a particular style. How are guys supposed to know this!?

Eventually a second sales woman came over and actually offered to model jeans for me. Apparently she was a size 4 as well. So there I stood, watching sales woman #2 try on several pairs for me. Nice (and by watch I mean OUTSIDE the dressing room guys. Don't get your hopes up). Truly a first for me ... and indeed a crafty way to close a sale.

if you've read my other reviews, you know my feelings on mainstream department stores.

exception - the men's department at the nordstrom in tyson's corner.  tucked away in the dressing room are top notch tailors.  i saw magic happen before my eyes the day i helped S pick out some suits.  these tailors are excellent.

puts saks to shame.

Ok - first, let me caveat this by saying that while I may have jumped out of planes on behalf of the nation for a few years, I am utterly not afraid to be called metro anymore (mind you, I almost punched the guy that called me that the first time).

When I first stepped into a Nordstrom in 2004, I didn't know what to expect.  Again, my lovable dad who seems to Gage things in utter simplicity ("good service" "jerks" or "idiots" are his marks for stores), told me to go there to buy shoes since I was looking for shoes to wear with my suit.  I was a guy who went from a military environment and wearing BDUs 5-6 days a week to starting to shop for suits (hey - I wasn't so gung-ho anymore and willing to dress a little on the weekends beyond the "mind if I fart?" t-shirts).  Nordstrom was my savior in this regard.

Fast forward a couple of years into 2006 and my job interviews in the Tysons area when I was leaving active duty.  I walked into the store after only having been for a few cursory visits with my father before hand.  One of the store clerks (Landry) recognized me and actually greeted me by name.  I was floored!  I was sitting there thinking, "holy crap, is this guy from the CIA?!?" but it just really was Nordstrom's customer service promise to make you feel welcome.

Now, the biggest thing that grabbed my loyalty to this store was the fact that I walked in one day and got a phone call from BearingPoint asking me to come in for another round of interviews with other PMs from different projects.  Slightly annoyed (I already interviewed before and thought I met the interested PMs), I informed them that I was on leave from North Carolina and was standing in Nordstrom in a pair of shorts, a t-shirt, and slippers.  Far from your typical interview fare.  The recruiter pressed me and said it would be fine but being Mr. Prim and Proper (at least part of the time), I said I would need about an hour to get ready and I would at least throw on some casual duds.  I told Landry I needed some items fast and he threw together an ensemble from the sale rack in less than 10 minutes.  J.W. Nordstrom shirt, Nordstrom khaki trousers, a belt, Ecco shoes, and some socks ran me just $150 - and I still have those items today (for the curious, I ended up with the job offer but turned it down to go elsewhere).

To date, Landry has been great in the mens department and it disappointed me to hear that he went back home (I think it was Nairobi).  I haven't found another personal shopper to replace him yet but then again, my wife doesn't agree to me spending hundreds of dollars on ties and cuff links since she came to the US.  Oh well, I'll figure something out.

Their store card (even the visa variety) will get you invited to store events - and man, there's nothing like spending hundreds of dollars while being too buzzed to care.  I think there is some strategy here...but the store events have gone down in my opinion.  Before, it was by invitation only and they actually sent you a little serial numbered invite that you called to RSVP with.  Now, it's come one, come all and they advertise.  I understand reaching out to the public but part of the lure was the exclusivity of the events.  I mean, when I go now, everyone has raped and pillaged the munchies and you have to rush to get the alcohol (think of the http://careerbuilder.com commercial where the office mates are fighting in the "promotion pit").  Not the same and I'm going to give the events just one more chance before I hang up on them (unless it's the 5x points event - then I'm there).

Bottom line, even if you're fashion-challenged (like I was) this place will make you look like a consulting firm partner when you're merely one of the underlings.

Great service. I'm trying to look for a dress that I saw online.  Sales lady was very helpful even they don't have it at the store.  She said I can call her anytime if I have questions about sizes for the dress online!!! How cool!

I had a baby 9 months ago, and I decided that it was time to get sized for a new bra. My boobs have, um, changed considerably since the baby, and I didn't want to go to Victoria's Secret for such an important mission. I decided to go to Nordstrom's and get measured by a professional. I walked into the lingerie department and was there *maybe* 2 seconds when a very friendly woman approached me and asked if I needed help. I told her I wanted to get measured for a bra, and she promptly grabbed a measuring tape and took me into a fitting room. I took off my shirt and she measured me around my rib cage, and let me tell you- I measured TWO SIZES smaller than what I was wearing!! She didn't measure my cup size but just kind of "eye-balled" it, and came back with one bra. I tried it on and it FIT PERFECTLY. It was kind of spooky. She picked my absolute correct size. She asked what kind of bra I was looking for, and I told her I needed one that would be smooth under t-shirts, and then a new nursing bra, if they had any. She asked if I wanted anything lacy, and I said no, but she said she would bring in a couple anyway, just for fun. She came back several times to check on me, each time bringing more bras. I swear, she must have brought me at least 30 bras. I didn't have time to try them all on, but I did find exactly what I was looking for. If you ever need to get measured for a bra, and I suggest that all women do, go to this Nordstroms and ask for Chris. She was so wonderful and helpful, and I didn't mind showing her my boobs at all. The only reason I don't give them 5 stars is because of the price. They ain't cheap. But- a good-fitting bra can totally make or break your outfits, people. Haven't you seen the Oprah show on this????
