This is driectly down stairs from my new office, so A+ for convenience! I arrived at 11:45pm for lunch, which was a good thing, because by 12:10 it was packed!
The service was extremely quick and friendly, and my waiter was extremely excited to tell me the best recommendation was the drunken noodles. So Drubken Noodles it was! You get to chose your noodle type (wide) and the protein (grilled chicken).
It was sweet, spicy and hot of the wok. Delicious! And I even took home leftovers! Not bad for under $10. I will definitely be back for a fast, yummy lunch!
(2.5 stars)
Been here countless times. Menu gives me a headache everytime.
Fried rice here is not bad, pad thai is so-so. I actually like their chicken satay with peanut sauce. Sauce makes the dish. Do NOT EVER get the garlic broth base for your noodles. Absolutely disgusting, would kill vampires. So-so prices. Good thai iced tea.

Having missed Where the Wild Things Are at Imax due to a sold out show, we came down here cuz what else could be do but eat.
It didnt take that long to get a table but it took a long ass time to get our food. Maybe because i was hungry or what i dont know but i went through 3 cups of water before a morsel of anything arrived.
I ordered crispy noodle pad thai with beef. Im not sure if the noodles are supposed to be broken up like rice but never the less it was good and the portion was satisfactory. a little too sweet but good.
Tried the tom tum pad thai, that shit was bomb. tom yum noodle soup is super fresh and tasted great.
Our server seated us, then was no where to be seen. So we got some random ass guy after calling for service a couple times. He turned out to be a cool cat "Chris" who recommended stuff and was overly friendly and helpful.
Prices are decent but just make sure you have company because your food will take a trip to thailand to get to you. Food is pretty good and prices are decent.
once again. make sure you have time to spare (3 hours meant for WTWTA)
Went here last night for the first time. Totally looks like a little joint - nothing great. But the food was awesome! I was shocked!
Highly recommend:
The Tom Yum Soup w/ rice noodles- absolutely deelish broth- super tasty.
Drunken noodles (wide noodles, with chicken, we had) - also absolutely delicious.
This will definitely be a go-to place from now on. I'm not sure if they delivery, but if so, then it'll be even better!
Me & a friend share the above dishes, and it was 10 bucks each (excluding tip). Seriously, how can you beat that?!
The Pad Thai here is cheap and delicious - a definite stop for a noodle fix if you are in the Kenmore area. The road theme is cute and the service is always friendly. I think this is a great way to introduce beginners to Thai...the menu spells out (albeit in terribly poor grammar) what everything is and how to assemble a great dish!
I'm trying to come up with some sort of street-oriented pun to put at the end of this review. Something about....giving the green light? take a detour? no right on red? I don't know...just enjoy your noodles :-)
So I have only been here once. Last Night w/ my cousin.
09-17-09
I ordered a Veg. Tom Yun (sp?) soup w/out mushrooms and Green Chilli w/ Rice Noodles.
My cousin ordered Drunken Noodles w/ crispy chicken. It was totally amazing. I love Thai food most of the time, but soup helped fill me up so I only ate half of my entree and the rest for lunch. I love spicy food and this place is pretty amazing. I was happy with my food and the location and the decor of the place. The service is fast and friendly and I am contemplating bringing a big group of people there.
Credit Card / Debit Card minimum is $10 but they have a "free atm" also which is very cool and convenient.
1 boba tea + soup + 2 entrees = $30. (+ tip)
Noodle Street is a GREAT, low-priced restaurant to satisfy all your Thai-cravings, conveniently located on the green line at BU.
I've been to Noodle Street many times and I'm always impressed by the speedy service and high-quality food- especially for the low price! The menu can be somewhat daunting at first- there are so many choices! Of course, I would recommend classic pad thai with chicken and shrimp. Delicious! Their thai iced tea is also great.
Noodle Street has a great, casual atmosphere and even does take out!
Food is pretty good, satisfying enough for a quick fix to warm the tummy. Love the drunken noodles and all the soup noodles. However, service is a little slow so don't go when you are in a rush!
i liked my dish, but my friend soup noodles were sooo good. it was a perfectly spicey and rich broth. yum. the pop-up menu was pretty confusing...or fun?
i think i'm biased bc our waitress looked like an old friend (with dimples!), and she was super polite. really grateful that they kept refilling our waters bc of the heat factor. would def go again!
Whoa! There are like over a hundred things on their menu! I love me some noodles and this seems like the place to go for a noodle fix. My fiance and I were just walking around the area doing some urban exploring and stumbled upon the place. The place was packed full of college students and everything on the menu sounded tasty. Sadly, we were only stopping by to grab some boba tea to go. Service was fast and friendly, and the mango slush boba and green tea boba were some of the best I've tasted in the city. The mango slush boba was made with real mangoes I'm convinced. I must come to Noodle St. soon and try one of their tasty looking noodle dishes!
One of my favorite lunch spots. Service is always great and the food is usually well above average.
gigantic menu.
kind staff, fast service, close by -
delicious, cheap eats
I love Noodle Street!!! I was visiting my ex at the time and I told him I was craving asian food. So he took me to Noodle Street and it was love at first bite!
It's noodle or rice dishes, however you want it. You choose a sauce, style and how you want them to cook it. It's seriously the bomb! [Especially if you're totally drunk off your ass and have the huge case of the munchies--lol]
Out of all the restaurants I went to during my stay, this place is seriously one of my faves.
I'm a big fan of this place. Their environment and staff are very charming and the service is fast. I like the decor and the way they have spiced up and designed this place. It's not your traditional Thai Restaurant, but has more of a youthful feel to it. Prices are a little high, but I don't mind paying it for better service and a nice peaceful meal. I recommend you all try it, and don't forget a Bubble Tea! sooo good!
Food is about as run-of-the mill as you can get. Plain sauces, good portions. Props for having Yaki, soba, and undon. Funny menu. Can't really think of a reason to go twice unless you live nearby.
Who doesn't love some good noodles? Noodle Street knows noodles and I know they know noodles because not knowing where to go when I'm in Kenmore is a big no-no. *whew!* Now I am needing some noodles!
Ok, to put it simply, this place is good and comforting. They really have everything on the menu to get whatever you want for your Thai fix. I am a huge fan of their basil fried rice and the staff is always really friendly.
Noodle street is ZzzzZzzzzz so delicious... noodle tuesdays used to take place at noodle street and i used to go there so often that i actually REDEEMED things on my frequent user card before it expired!! has that ever happened before in the history of the planet?! i've never heard of it.
i am not the most adventurous person normally but noodle street brings out the animal in me and i've covered a fair amount of the expansive menu. they are not fancy or complex flavors but they are consistently good. honestly a good place to start is just order one of the pictures that looks good, and the wackier the caption the better! do not be afraid of the add-ons, they can really elevate the noodlieness to a new level, for instance a sunny-side egg on top of chili fried rice is definitely something i'm glad i explored.
and if you can stand it, the fried ice cream i used to poo-poo and laugh at because the pictures on the wall taunt and tempt, but it's surprisingly delicious and if you order it beware that soon you'll be stabbing your friend in the hand with a fork to get the last delicious creamy chocolatey bite.
i suppose the only criticism is that the decor could definitely be brought up a notch. it seems like they could really make the place great with better furniture and overall vibe. as it is it seems fast foody and not super comfortable. but the noodles will lure you back...
Sometimes when the skys are gray and the clouds decend on Kenmore Square, I need something warm and lovely to get me through till five o'clock. What's the cure? Noodle Soup!!
I like to get the plain ol' rameny soup with the veggies and tofu and sometimes chicken in it. It's tasty tasty and priced well.
As they say on their take out menu: Healthy Food in Your Style.. what could feel better?
Noodle on this:
Great little space for a quick bite around BU. Their friendly, quick, responsive service, expansive selection of mostly Thai-leaning dishes, and dirt cheap prices make this one of the best spots for student brain food. I've tried a noodle soup with chicken and pad thai here and both exceeded my expectations for a mere $6 and $8 respectively.
You shouldn't expect to indulge in the best food in this genre dining here, however if your goal is QUICK, CHEAP, SATISFACTORY, I'd say highly recommended.
Three stars because of the variety you can get with the different dishes available and the tasty NS Soup (I'll have NS Soup...and...NS Soup please!) but other than that, the quality is alright and sometimes the food can take a while (A while for Thai food is anything longer than about 20-25 minutes...stir frying noodles shouldn't take more than 5-10!)
But in terms of places I'd rather go, Rod Dee and S&I aren't THAT far away.
3 stars instead of 2 because of the fried ice cream!
Two stars only because they were very friendly and the kyoza appetizers were quite good.
I ordered a mango strawberry smoothie and I could taste neither mango nor strawberry, it was just sweet and icy. I really like smoothie with real fresh (or frozen) fruit. This one tasted like it was from a syrupy mix.
For dinner I ordered Yaki with buckwheat noodles and tofu and vegetables. I didn't order extra oil and grease, but it came with it anyway. Nothing had any flavor and the vegetables were way overcooked and seemed like they came out of a can or something.
I have to say that I was put in a bad mood when I found out that all of the noodle soups and curries were made with chicken stock and as a vegetarian I couldn't eat any. So, the complex and fun menu was extremely limited for me and I was really looking forward to a noodle soup. Plus, for two people the bill, with tip, came to $40. For the lack of quality, this is way too much money.
Nud Pob has been closed the past few weeks so, after craving cheap and nearby Thai food, I ordered take-out here (at work) and was pleasantly surprised.
I got the Vegetable and Tofu Pad Thai with Crispy Noodles. It wasn't the best Thai I've ever had, but it's pretty good -- especially considering the price. The dish was a little on the oily side, but I'm not sure if that was due to the crispy noodles. (I'll order here again soon and get non-crispy ones to try.) Although the tofu was a somewhat bland, the onions and baby corn were delicious. Crispy noodles added a surprise crunch and I think some interesting flavor. The portion was large, enough to satisfy me after skipping lunch today; all for less than $9.
I would definitely go here again for a work lunch.
This place is as sub-par as it can get. Sure there is a huge variety of noodles, meats, soups, etc. to choose from, but the food here is something people can make at home themselves at a lower cost and better quality. Just hop on over to the 88 on Comm and you can definitely make the same noodle dishes yourself.
They charge extra for crispy noodles?! WTbleep!!? That ain't right. The noodle soups always lack a lot of flavor and the service is pretty meh. That ain't right. The fried noodles are overly greasy and the meats are horrendous. That ain't right. The beef I had one time was so mushy that I could not consider it real beef. Maybe it was some genetically modified hybrid meat. Who knows? All I know is that this place just ain't right.
If you want noodles, this is the place to go. It probably has every variety that you can imagine. The menu was a little confusing and they don't serve alcohol, but it was a very tasty meal.
I had the Lomein XXX that was very tasty. Portions were just right for a starving male and the price was surely on the cheaper side.
I'd surely go back to Noodle St.
Noodle Street was a place whose survival I worried about during the Atkins diet craze a few years ago. Turns out I had no reason to be concerned, and instead I suspect their delicious variety of noodles was responsible for busting more than one poor dieter's no-carb restrictions.
Their decorating theme is roads and highways, as suggested by their name, and their menu is as difficult to navigate sometimes as the streets of Boston. You start by picking a category (Noodle soup, fried rice, stir fried noodles, etc.), the type of sauce or soup base, the type of noodle, the type of protein, and any other optional additions. Your choices are nearly infinite, and ordering is a bit like playing the board game Clue: Rice noodles, in the boat trip soup, with the candlestick. I mean, pork.
There's nothing spectacular about their food, but I find it be better than decent. Eating a big bowl of Udon Noodles in their savory Noodle Street signature soup with chicken drumsticks makes me forget all about the bitter New England winter outside. My only complaint is that sometimes, when they're busy, they can be excruciatingly slow. On the average day, though, they are quite fast with their service.
Noodle Street isn't so much a destination as it is a convenience for me. I never get a particular "craving" for it per se, but if I'm in a rush and need to grab a late lunch in between classes and meetings, it's one of the places that I consider.
Drunken noodles are a popular favorite for being moderately spicy and pretty versatile. Pineapple fried rice isn't shabby either. Recently got a dry Tom Yum Zap, and that was perfectly decent as well. I like how their vegetables usually have a bit of crunch left to them. Flavors are pretty mediocre overall but quality is dependable.
You can customize your order to get what you want, and if you want it spicy, (I mean REALLY spicy), tell them that you didn't think their "spicy" dishes were spicy enough. It may take you a few visits for them to recognize you and remember how spicy you were able to handle, but a friend yesterday finally got her spice fix and then some. (We're Indians and we like it hot. No playing around.)
So all in all, if you're short on time and need a quick and filling bite, Noodle Street is a good option. I wouldn't recommend it to those looking for culinary revelations, but it's good for students.
I've been to this place once, and plan on going back soon, because I really enjoyed it.
I love all of the options and customization. You can pretty much get any noodle dish you want, choosing any combination of noodles, sauce, and meat/veggies.
I had yellow crispy pan fried noodles with Pad Thai. It was very sweet, which I really liked at first, but I eventually did get sick of the dish, because of the intensity of the sweetness. I would get it again though. I absolutely LOVE yellow crispy pan fried noodles, and they really got them down perfect. Every single noodle was crispy, yet not burnt, and they never got soggy for as long as I ate that meal. It is really quite a mystery to me how they achieved this crispity perfection.
I also thought the decor of the restaurant was really cool and hip with the street signs and license plates.
For someone who swore they would never eat Thai again because of their illegal animal killing trade, I sure am a flake.
I ate hear tonight because we were too lazy to walk over to Coolidge Corner. The waitress with the white glasses was really cute and sweet and all the waiters were nice too. Food was really timely. The soup with the man's name Tom, or something sucked though. It was strangely spicy with a big piece of tomato in it.
My Pad Thai was average, definitely not in my top 5 best Pad Thais I've ever eaten. I Liked the Shirley Temple drink though!!
Easy, cheap, and not bad.
Who can't like an establishment that uses little aryan children to peddle its foodstuffs?!? Meet *Jamo*, Noodle St.'s menu mascot! This little guy uses road signs to direct you through a world of bright colors and insanely customizable Thai dishes.
I was quite overwhelmed at the choices but extremely happy to have the option of ~8 noodle types for my *Drunken Noodle* dish. The food was pretty average Thai, but the customizable dishes and the complicated LSD-laced menu have potential to make me add an extra star in the future.
+'s Options galore, friendly and attentive staff, very fast service, decent food.
-'s The feeling of hopelessness when I realized that medical school is easier than figuring out the menu.
I dislike this restaurant with a Thai chili pepper passion. Who would come here with Thai Dish, Nud Pob, and Brown Sugar blocks away?
Don't be fooled, the noodle dishes are mediocre eats at Noodle Street--except for the Boat Trip (dry version). This is flavorful, zesty, and the fried garlic is a nice touch.
I got the NS Gravy with Chopped Pork and Crispy Wide Noodle once, which was suppose to be a big hit. It was sitting on the counter for 10 minutes before the waiter brought it to me and the cook forgot the chopped pork! I've never been more irritated at a restaurant in Boston.
A few of my friends like this place because they think it's healthier but come on, it's still Thai food--it's either drenched in peanut oil or flooded with coconut milk. I'll admit to liking the Fresh Mango with Sticky Rice, but that's all! Capisci?
I recall good food the times I went there during my years at BU. I remember when they used to be called Mango something or other before they changed management/owners/renovated/whatever.
It doesnt sound like it's maintained it's level of yummy. Unfortunate.
Pad see-um was gummy and tasted far too sweet. Take out took 20...then 30...then 45 minutes. Literally sat at store for 45 minutes while they continued to not have my order ready/say it would be ready in five minutes.
For the record, they gave me two free sodas. However, I much would've preferred to have had them simply cancel my order (which apparently couln't be done since it would be ready in 5 minutes...5 minutes...it will be ready in 5 minutes!) so I didn't have to pay 10 bucks for a bad Thai dish.
Ohhhhh kitch, how do I love thee....
The place is covered in street signs, license plates, blinky lights, and the theme continues to the menu. Curry Ave, Soup Rd, Dessert St... I was half expecting to see a sign pointing to the bathroom announcing "Pee Central" =P
I don't think the menu is that hard to figure out; you can pick from the traditional favorites listed in each section, or if you're up for it piece together you're own dish picking a style, noodle, and meat, etc (ideal for someone like me who ends up asking to substitute things in dishes anyway). Their fresh rolls were the biggest and messiest to eat of any I've had, though the double dipping sauces were nice. The Rad Na was very tasty, and we didn't get dessert but rather admired it from afar as the people one table over enjoyed their huge chocolate cake type looking thing.
It was a little funny that two separate waitresses came over to ask if we were ready about 30 seconds apart from each other, but other than that, it was a nice atmosphere and meal.
Doesn't hold a candle to Brown Sugar. The menu is very confusing and somewhat condescending to the reader. Don't tell me I'm going down "Lazy Street" if I'm ordering a Pad Thai, OK? On the other hand the signage is clever and I enjoy saying I'm headed to Noodle Street. But like my momma always said, "Don't judge a restaurant based on its clever signage alone"
As for the food. It's alright but not good enough for the price.
Fabulous fried ice cream / fried banana dessert.
I'd go elsewhere for anything else.
Not a bad little place for make-your-own standard Thai-influenced dishes. Noodle Street has quite a large selection of items to choose from, and for the most part, it's an inexpensive undertaking. The food is usually pretty good; nothing spectacular by any means, but since there are so many concoctions you can create, it's hard to imagine that you won't find something to enjoy.
They're usually pretty helpful when it comes to special requests and/or questions; I have peanut allergies so sometimes, Thai food and I have a problem getting along. The Noodle Street staff usually know how to answer my questions and do so knowledgeably, but there have been times where that is not the case, so my tip for the allergy-ridden is to be cautious but ask questions!
Noodle St. is a low-key place to grab a (sometimes good, sometimes decent) bowl of soup or noodle dish. Prices are usually less than $10/person and it has a very relaxed atmosphere.
The food is creative and usually tasty, but it has been inconsistent. The thai iced tea is very good, but you can easily make your own version at home.
One annoying thing is that there is a $10 credit card minimum, so bring cash if you are coming here by yourself.
Noodle Street, like any other street in Boston, is slow and goes in circles. Wait wait... now I'm at Rice Street? And then Soup Street? Make sure you bring your GPS because that map they call a menu is really confusing
Noodle woman: Ready to order?
Me: No.
(1 min later)
Noodle woman: Ready to order?
Me: Help...
The food is overpriced mediocre pan-Asian noodle things. Do yourself a favor and walk across the street to Nud Pob - cheaper, faster, less bullshit.
Nice place -- food is really good. Service is okay.
Manager is rude. I am a vegetarian and got green curry and they had a piece of chicken in it. They wouldn't even give us a discount at first and the manager comes and tells us well you ate the curry how do i care if you are vegetarian.
isn't he supposed to apologize that i did unknowingly and i am vegetarian!?
Great menu and good food though. Lot of vegetarian dishes though.
I've had better food come out of a garbage can. Can you say greasy & flavorless? pad thai, bad thai.
One star for the fried ice cream.
