my friend and i came here based on the yelp reviews. i was really craving bi bim bop, and my friend just didn't care what we ate.
we ordered the sweet rice tea and persimmon tea to drink. no joke, i was kinda weirded out when it came out in a bowl filled with ice and a soup spoon. the sweet rice tea was understatedly sweet, but nothing like horchata. the persimmon tea was flavored with a lot of cinnamon, and had what looked to be a dried persimmon at the bottom. needless to say, your next visit can skip these items.
when the waitress came to take our meal order, i ordered the bi bim bop, and she said i would like it better in a hot clay pot. she told me it made the rice crunchy and very delicious. i trusted her and upgraded. when it came out, she put all the sauces on it for me and even mixed it for me. holy crap. even my own mother doesn't do that for me! the dish also came with 6 small dishes of items like pickled daikon, kim chi, cabbage with a light brown sauce, a small block of tofu in spicy sauce, and potato/pasta salad (wtf??).
i really loved the bbb, even more so in the clay pot. the rice kind of burned at the bottom really adds to the texture and flavors in this dish. the egg was cooked perfectly; it wasn't chewy and the yolk was runny enough to really blend into the rice and veggies. i had to add some sriracha because i like things a little spicy.
i would HIGHLY recommend getting the bi bim bop in the hot clay pot to anyone. it's so delicious and i don't understand how i could ever have bbb any other way! -

After moving to Eugene, my girlfriend and I made a list of places to check out, and vowed not to make return visits to any place until everywhere else was sampled. We broke that rule for Noodle Bowl. She loves the ramen, I go for the titular beef Noodle Bowl, and the beef appetizer dipped in egg and panfried is really good, too. Prices are fair enough, service okay, but the food is right up our alley.

I had a spicy pork noodle bowl here for lunch last week. The pork was spicy and the noodles were great -- not oily, not dry, not mushy -- tasty. The dish itself wasn't spicy, just the pork. I ate all the noodles, but there was so much pork in the dish I couldn't finish it.
I might have given Noodle Bowl 5 stars, but the waitress (completely) forgot my iced tea. I'll come back next time I'm in Eugene! -

Why are the noodles always so dry?
The staff is very friendly and they've done quite a bit with the interior since House of Noodle closed, yet I'm always left wishing this place was just a bit better.
The food presentation is nice and the prices are reasonable, but in the end I have yet to leave Noodle Bowl with any interest in returning in the near future.
I'll keep the money flowing to Joy though and grab breakfast at Brails. -

We used to always enjoy our meal when we eat here, but something has changed. The Bi Bim Bop is still really tasty and I love the crunchy rice with the stone hot pot. The last time we went will probably be our last. The first thing my son ordered the waitress said they no longer made even though it was still on the menu. I ordered the curry noodles and crispy rice cakes for an appetizer. The food took quite awhile to arrive and when it was brought out, the waitress explained that the rice cakes would be a bit longer because they took longer. I thought this strange since they are listed under appetizers, but went with it. When I took a bite of my noodles I was so disappointed. Just overcooked vegetables in a generic brown curry. When the "rice cakes" arrived, it was actually some sort of sliced tofu in a pretty gross fishy sauce. I had some of my partner's Bi Bim Bop but couldn't eat any of the rest of it. We were ignored for the rest of our meal as the place filled up with people who were friendly with the staff. When we left the waitress asked if I didn't like the curry and when I said that I didn't she just shrugged and ran my card. I so wish it hadn't gone this way but, there are too many other better places in town to come back.

There was a time when I would have given the Noodle Bowl 5 stars without hesitation. However, the quality of their service and food has been all over the map for me lately. Given the last two clunker meals I have eaten here, I can't in good conscience give 'em more than a three star review right now.
Let's start with the good. The standard deviation for service has been much narrower than that for the food. Simply put, the owners and staff are usually nothing but cheerful to me. There have only been a couple of pretty slow lunches and some substitution errors to deal with--nothing major. The typical experience at Noodle Bowl will undoubtedly be happy, and the servers in good spirits.
The other thing I love about the Noodle Bowl is the relative portion size and variety of the banchan (side dishes, usually kim chi and other pickled delights) that they serve. I may be mis-remembering, but I think you get this size of banchan with or without ordering bibimbap. It's quite fun, and very tasty.
But, speaking of bibimbap, the last two entrees have had here have really weighed heavy in my gut. They've been quite oily, and over seasoned ... and judging from the looks of things this strategy may have been an attempt to cover up some less-than-stellar produce. I can't take too much away from the NB, given the relative great lunches I've had here in the past... but on average they're now "just okay" for me.
Perhaps the owners are just struggling in this recession like the rest of us, but I'd like to see a bit more attention to detail and hear some evidence of significantly better food quality before I'll be back.Listed in: Yew 2 tha Jean, Lunchtime noshing...Eugene…

Our waiter was really nice and he didn't mind splitting our check five ways. Although the place was busy and understaffed, the service was fast. Our water glasses were always full. The tofu Bi Bim Bop was fresh but the sauce was not very spicy. The milk tea that my friend ordered was more of a smoothie than milk tea. Overall, this is a good place for a casual gathering with friends, but not for authentic Korean food.

I come here for the Bi Bim Bop. Hot and sizzling rice with vegetables and meat, topped with a fried egg. Cover it in sesame oil and hot sauce and you have a very satisfying meal!
I also love the kimchi and other pickled condiments that come as appetizers. The service is very friendly and helpful as well. -

Had the BEST bowl of chicken noodle soup in my life. If I ever come back to Eugene, I will go back here for sure. The Korean hot wings were really spicey as well, which I liked.

YUM! Just got back from dinner here. Service was fast and friendly. Joy was even here tonight with her Brails name tag on serving up food and smiles.
If you get the bibimbap, I highly recommend getting it in the stone bowl. The cripsy rice that forms on the side and bottom of the hot bowl is nice and crunchy and well worth the extra dollar. -

This is a review for the bubble tea.
First of all, the tea isn't really a tea or juice at all. It's more of a smoothie blend with some kind of milk, so it tastes kinda funky. They probably use some kind of powder because it's way too sweet. It's also not blended enough so the texture is a bit grainy-- I had huge chunks of ice in mine too.
The worst part is that there is not enough tapioca balls in the bubble tea. Honestly, the idea bubble tea should have the perfect balance of balls vs. liquid. Otherwise, I would not have called the beverage "bubble" or "tea" for that matter in this case. Also, another ding off for not having milktea as a flavor, although I doubt that would've tasted good in smoothie form.
It costs $4.25 for a bubble tea and $.75 for extra tapioca, and it really shouldn't be extra because you only get about 15 balls per drink.
Points for having nicely good tapioca and fast service, but I would not come here again for "bubble tea." -

Good portions, good price, good food.
I've been here once and wanting to go back to order food again! I really enjoy eating here. I really like the atmosphere and the people there are extremely nice. Great customer service.
The best thing to get there is the Chicken Bento Box! -

Best bubble tea in town, definitely. Extra creamy and delicious. I'd give five stars for the bubble tea.
I'd like to stay and eat, but this place smells horrible! Dirty mop water horrible. Note to the owners: clean out your mop and bucket. I'm also turned off by all the ant traps on the floor out in plain view. -

I like this place and go quite frequently. The food is tasty and when something is called Spicy on the menu, they mean it. The $3.00 Ninkasi IPA on tap is a nice treat.
The Hot Pot Bi Bim Bop is the best item on the menu; really top notch with a crispy rice bottom. The noodle bowls are huge and can easily serve two. The Bulgogi is decent. The Korean Short Rib Beef Soup is the only thing I was not impressed with - the broth was bland and it seemed overpriced for the ingredients used to make it.
Parents Note: High chairs available and kid-friendly staff, especially during lunch hour. Order a traditional Korean dish to get the side dishes with it so your little one can start snacking early. You can use one of the plastic dishes they come on to share your meal with your child. -

I have returned here on another occasion of visiting my mother-in-law. This time round, the restaurant did not smell at all of dirty mop. We ordered spicy pork and squid, and my goodness it was delicious!!! The pork and squid were cooked perfectly and the flavor would explode in you mouth!! Delicious!!!! The side dishes are always delicious, and the daikon kimchi is definitely my favorite!

I wanted shrimp, noodles, and vegetables. And I wanted it spicy. I wanted the spicy noodle bowl with shrimp, but the waitress said, "no, only pork or chicken."
They had shrimp on the menu, so why couldn't I get it with what I wanted?
So I ended up ordering a vegetable curry, while my boyfriend ordered the spicy chicken noodle bowl. He got far more vegetables than I did in my bowl. I got a few large chunks of carrots, a few tiny chunks of potatoes, and a lot of medium sized chunks of onion.
Huge portions and an alright price, but I was pretty disappointed. My boyfriend really enjoyed his though. -

I have been here many times and had good food and friendly service. And the Bubble Tea...fuget aboud it.
Normally we have the Beef Bowl, Bib Bim Bap, or Bulgogi. Kind of dissapointed that they don't have Kim Chi Fried Rice, as cooking the Kim Chi takes some of the stank out of the after affected breath. We have also had the Bu Dae Ji Gae which is a soup for 2 and is very good and very filling, I suggest that you get it for 3.
But I have to give it a marginal review. Because the last time I went in there it smelled like they had cleaned the whole restaurant with a rotten mop. We were meeting friends there so we had to sit in the stench and bear it. But holy cow, the restaurant staff was walking around like nothing was wrong. We order bubble tea and sat in the glorious reek but split like a banana when our friend got there. Haven't been back since, but I will most likely give it another chance.
I have heard some rumors that it may have new owners soon, but they they are unsubstantiated at best. -

Yum Yum Yum Yummy!!!
I am a big fan of the Bi Bim Bop in the hot stone. OH MY LORD it is tasty!! It's served with an egg on top that has a runny yoke. So once you mix it all together it becomes a wonderful blend of flavor and creaminess.
The Veggie Tempora is not the best. It's just french fries and sweet potato fries. I was really disappointed with it.
Service was really nice. Great place to go. Very tasty! -

This place is delicious!
My husband got the Teriyaki Chicken Bento box and I got the Teriyaki Tofu Noodles. I have to say his dish was much tastier then mine. The Teriyaki flavor was perfect, but something about the combination of fried tofu and teriyaki made it not so delicious.
No matter! My husband had so much food that I ate some of his. The bento box was complete with a house salad, which came with an interesting black bean flavored dressing. Box included chicken, rice, spring rolls, and tempura. Did I mention it was delicious? Meat was not fatty at all and the texture was great.
Service was prompt. Staff was friendly and attentive. We came in 20 minutes before closing and they had no problem serving us. We didn't feel rushed to leave just because they were closing.
Restrooms were insanely clean, which always makes me feel good.
This will soon be one of my regular places eating-in or take out. -

I love coming here for the Spicy Pork! Either the bowl or the dinner. The dinner offers all the little side dishes that really bring together all the Korean elements. The hubby always get the Beef Bulgogi and says it's great. I just can't tear myself away from that spicy pork!
The people here are extremely nice. They value your business and really care about the food they are making for you. It's a great place. -

My brother and I were in Eugene on business today. He took me to this wonderful Korean Restaurant. The décor was warm and welcoming. I ordered Spicy Chicken and Fried Rice lunch special and Kelly ordered Spicy Chicken and Noodles. When our orders arrived, we split the Udon Noodles and Fried rice to allow each of us to try both. All was wonderful. I noted that both orders were long on the starches and a little short on the chicken. Good as the food was, it was the marvelously cheerful attitudes of the servers that truly impressed me. Their happy voices were like tiny tinkling bells. It's impossible to maintain a sour attitude when surrounded by such joy. They all obviously love what they do. This to me is what merited the fifth star! I hardily recommend this place.

Good selection of rice or noodle dishes and soups, decent prices, great service. My very picky better half even liked it, so that's a big plus in my book. I highly recommend.
Try the Bi Bim Bop.. it's a popular rice and veggie bowl served with a fried egg and your choice of meat or tofu on top. A little on the spicy side, but not too bad.
When the waitress saw me staring blankly into the giant bowl and many sides placed in front of me, she didn't hesitate to walk me through the ritual of adding chili paste and sesame oil, and mixing the whole thing up. It added a nice personal touch to the already friendly service.
My Bi Bim Bop was about $9, and my girlfriend's teriyaki chicken yakisoba bowl was about $8. It's a Pepsi place, for those that take sides in the Cola wars. -

Delicious Bento and Korean dishes, nice size portions, great service and very reasonable price.
We love everything we have tried. I like Korean beef dish that comes with 6 or 7 little side condiments - kimchee, pickles, etc.
The bubble or boba tea is really fun. Like a milk shake with tapioca balls. Next time I am getting my own.......... yummmy.
I have not eaten much Korean food before. I loved it. I will try a noodle dish at some point if someone else at my table orders it. haha. I love the Korean beef dish and will stick with that.
Enjoy -

The only bad thing about this place is the name. "noodle bowl" - sounds like some cheap chain restaurant. But I guess it caters to its target customers.
The food was very good. We had a wide selection of food from soon do bu to bulgogi, kal bi tang, yuk gae jang, ojing aw bokeum (squid stir fry).
The selection of banchan (Side dishes) is probably the best in Eugene.
I have to give props to the waitress and especially the owner. They are very friendly and nice. We get "service" whenever we go. "service" is the Korean code word for free food offered to you by the owner. It's pretty commonplace at Korean restaurants.(especially if you happen to be a Korean customer!) For non-Korean customers - here's a tip - learn some Korean words and use them at restaurants and you may get "service".
My two favorite Korean places are 1) Cafe Seoul and 2) Noodle Bowl -

If you haven't been here in a while, give it another try - it's under new management. If you enjoyed the Korean fare's brief stint at Brail's, spread the word: Noodle Bowl is its new venue.
One star off for the egg rolls, which certainly tasted frozen. That the word-slurring, glassy-eyed waiter told us that they were out of chicken and only had shrimp and pork left was another clue as to their origin.
I'm happy to report that everything else was a delight. I got the spicy chicken bento dinner, which I thought was a good value at $9.95. It came with a bowl of white rice, plenty of spicy chicken, a salad with nasal-passage-clearing dressing, 2 crunchy salad rolls, and a large portion of thinly-shredded yam tempura (I like Arirang's better, sorry) clumps.
The seafood soup was an enormous portion and is enough for a meal or for two to share if you didn't bring a healthy appetite (contrary to what the waiter told us). The broth was mildly spicy, not too salty, and a slightly bigger portion than what you get at Toshi's (which it should be, at $10).
I will be back soon to taste all the other things that I wanted to try, including the Bi Bim Bop.Listed in: Top Restaurants

This a nice casual place with very friendly staff. It seemed quite popular! Most of the seating were taken when we got there around noon. The coconut bubble tea we ordered was one of the best I've ever had!! Dishes were nicely presented. We had veggie egg rolls which were fantastic. I had a tofu rice curry dish which consisted of large chunks of carrot and potato and perfectly cooked tofu covered in tasty curry sauce. The veggies were a bit large, and it was a heavy dish, but other than that, I really enjoyed it. The spicy chicken noodle bowl my bf had was so-so, nothing amazing, but not horrible either. The place had a bit of a run-down look and didn't feel very clean (I received a sticky fork), and the menu was small. In summary: Good service, decent food, reasonable prices, huge portions. Nothing special, but would go again.

I've watched restaurants come and go in this spot for a few years now, but never bothered to go in. But today a friend and I met here for lunch, and I was surprised--it was pretty good! The restaurant is very clean and almost minimalist in its decor. I ordered the ribs, which had a good BBQ flavor and were tender. My friend's chicken dish was nice and spicy. I may have to make this a more regular lunch stop.

Ah, I wish the traditional Korean food (not the fusion lunch bowls) at this place were one or two dollars cheaper!! Then, I'd be going every week.
The ladies there are always so nice, no matter who happens to be making the rounds at the tables.
When I ask for a to-go box, they always give me extra sides to take home, too!
My favorite is the soft tofu stew with seafood. -

I really don't know much about Korean food, but I am a soup fiend as is the hubby and we each liked our soups! Also the woman who runs the place is very helpful and showed us how to eat our food. I would definitely stop back here on our way to Portland again - hopefully by then I will know more about Korean food and I can give a better review.
