5 reviews for Nonna's Delisioso
I wish this place were better considering I live very close by, but it just isn't up to snuff.
After taking a couple month break after going there quite regularly, I tried them again yesterday for lunch. Unfortunately, the sandwiches just aren't that good.
Their homemade mozzarella isn't fresh a lot of the time. Quite frankly, the frozen bread that they use is not good at all.
The owners should call up Sal at Alvaro's and arrange for fresh bread to be delivered every morning to be used. Until they straighten out the cheese and bread issue, there's not much of a sandwich to eat there.
The setting is nice. The staff is friendly. I hope they make it, but I fear they won't unless the food improves.
Good food, great service. Nonna's is really great in the summer when the front garage-style doors are opened and a warm breeze blows through to compliment the tasty food.
Truly one of the jewels of Midtown. Great staff, enthusiastic owners, a nice location, and most importantly great food. They lose a star because it takes a long time (too long) to get your food, but that's minor in the overall scheme of things. Check them out.
Two of us went here a few days ago. The mozzarella roll we got, although they apologized for it taking so long (they said they had trouble rolling it), was great. red peppers, artichokes and fresh basil rolled in fresh mozzarella. Also tried vegetable lasagna. Neither of us liked it. The sauce was too sweet, and the pasta was very mushy. I got a turkey sub, which was okay, can't go wrong with Boars Head. The bread was pretty good too. Although the sub was definitely not on par with Jackson House. Overall okay. I may go back just for the mozzarella roll. Then again, I can buy good mozzarella and make it myself.
This place is incredible. The owners are the most caring and kind people you will ever meet and the food is just exceptional. They've got a creative menu of Italian soups, sandwiches, salads, desserts and more. The quality of the food at Nonna's is blatant. This delicatessen is a must try eatery for anyone traveling through Harrisburg.
