Laura was our tour guide and she gave us a nice tour of the Garden District. She knew the styles of the architecture and gave us lots of historical and interesting information about the homes in the area and showed us some of the current and former homes of famous owners. I would highly recommend going with this company.

We went on three different tours (French District, cemetery and Garden District) with the Nola Tour Guy during our visit. Both David and Sal are knowledgeable with the history of the city and the buildings. It was far better than just roaming the areas by ourselves and I feel like I have better understanding of the city overall thanks to them. Highly recommended. And please even though they offer their services for free, tip them generously.
They're worth every penny.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 58442423Mar 9, 2024
I was hoping to get more insight into the architecture of the French Quarter. The dilemma of "history" tours is the amount of time standing in one place to listen. The tour, however, gave us lots of information, covered a fair amount of ground, and was interesting. The only main complaint - tour guide to tour guide - this "free" tour is so appreciated when you're on a budget, but don't ask for money up front.

cemetery walking tour with Sal was an absolute highlight of our trip. I was traveling with three teenage girls and my mom. It was a rainy spooky day and he was so kind as to share his umbrella. He had a deep knowledge of the regional history and burial practices. Also absolutely charming with his little ukulele and he sang two different jazz songs for us. As a point of comparison we also paid for the far more expensive ghost vampire voodoo night tour with another company and it really lacked authenticity, it felt very silly and canned. Do this tour instead! Also it's a perfect morning experience... Go to Cafe du Monde in the park for beignets, stroll the sculpture garden, and then head over to the cemetery. Sal is what I would call a real public character, so glad to have met him and to have learned so much from his extensive research and his compelling storytelling.the

I absolutely loved our tour of the French Quarter with Eric. He was informative and knowledgeable about the area. We got so much history. He invited questions and at the end of the tour he gave us tons of tips on what to see, where to go, places to eat and drink, areas to avoid and how to max your experience in the area. My only regret is that we didn't do this the first day.
We also did a tour with David in the Garden District but I was less impressed. While David was knowledgeable he was hard to follow sometimes. I think he could work on voice modulation so he starts and finishes at the same volume.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Doris S.Coronado, CA04Jan 23, 2024
Eric was a great and knowledgeable tour GUY. He had lots of extra information. It wasn't a cookie cutter tour. I highly recommend the French Quarter Tour and the Garden District Tour. I enjoyed both !

My husband & I did all 3 tours in the first 2 days of our New Orleans visit. We learned so much about the history, culture, and yes, architecture, from these personable and informative tour guides. We also got appreciated advise about eating, coffee drinking and music, including an invitation to the jazz mass at Our Lady Of Guadalupe Church, which far exceeded any of our expectations! We were happy to be able to share much of what we learned with colleagues at the conference, many of whom took other tours that didn't provide the much depth of local history. Recommend this local tour company to anyone visiting NOLA.

Eric was an awesome guide. He knew the city, the history and kept us all engaged. A great walking tour. Be sure to tip generously on a free tour as we do them in most every city we visit. Have never been disappointed. I Recommend Eric 100%.

We booked three tours with NOLA Tour Guy: French Quarter, Garden District, and St. Louis Cemetery #3. The first two tours were on the same day and led by Eric. We gave him 5 stars. Eric presents well, was neatly dressed, and well-spoken. He is very knowledgeable, interactive, and educational. Although some information during both tours was repetitive, he still made it fun and interesting.
Feeling satisfied and happy about our choice we were looking forward to the cemetery tour we had planned the next day. Prior to the tour we received a reminder via email and same-day text confirming our reservation and the name of our tour guide, David. Knowing that he is the owner of the company, and having such a great experience with Eric the day prior, we were very excited. All until he showed up. If it wasn't for the hat he wore to be recognized, I'd walk past him thinking he was just another bum on the streets of New Orleans. His clothes (socks, shorts, and a T-shirt) and his bright lime green Van's were visibly dirty. His hair was a mess. It was extremely hard to follow his speech, mostly due to the fact that he moved around a lot and often turned away from the group while talking. It seemed that he was almost twitching. At one point he just belched loudly in front of all of us. And later he fiddled with his pants in the groin area in front of one of the mausoleums. Four people walked away from the tour before it ended and my daughter was asking me to leave too. And though I tipped him at the end of the tour, we walked away feeling appalled.
In conclusion, I really like the concept of this company. And while David might be a good businessman, his History major does not make him a good tour guide. To the reader, don't get turned away by this review. Just make sure to book your tour with Eric. Eric-5 stars, David-1 star.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
