Neighborhood: Castleberry HillGarnett (North-South, Northeast-South, East-West, Proctor Creek)
so clearly this place goes through a lot of changes, because I didn't see alot of the things that folks have written here. there was no cover charge, no jazz, no private white room, no twenty something only crowd.
What I saw, on a Saturday night: no cover, cool dj playing oldies but goodies, great cocktail (true on the grey goose only), no privacy bar, white side more packed than black side (wall paint colors people) and just a really chilled environment with a mix of ages. Heck somebody seemed to be partying with their mama...not too cool, but hey she was there.
Looking for something to do...definitely check it out and have a really good time.

Just like most places in Castleberry Hill, Noir sold out on their original concept to cater to the small hoard of "can barely pee straight" early 20-somethings that fashion themselves "professionals." Noir originally opened as a "straight ahead" jazz spot and flipped the script to cater to the "MTV, Jay-Z, Me, Me, Me" generation. I ain't mad at 'em....everybody has got the right to get their hustle on. But there is nothing special about this place; it is a cookie cutter spot that sells way too much Grey Goose, features the typical DJ, has a ridiculous cover charge, projects some B.S. movie on the wall, and keeps plenty of "meat" in the market.........fits right in at C. Hill.

Ever since a promotion group comprised of 3 young 'buppies' secured Noir on Friday nights, I have found myself at this spot frequently on those Friday nights.
Before I actually begin the review, I have to say...THE LOUNGE IS ABSOLUTELY FREE ON FRIDAY NIGHTS. YES, PEOPLE, ALL NIGHT. SHOW UP AT 1:37 A.M. AND PAY ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.
So, Peters Street is the current hotspot. On Friday nights, Noir is where 93% of the young, black, professional crowd goes to kick it, dance, chat, network, relax, unwind, have fun, etc. (The other 7% is across the street at either Slice, M Bar or Pearl.)
I don't know if it's because I always know someone when I go to Noir or if I just like being around positive, forward-thinking folks, but the vibe here is really cool. I always have a good time when I go. However, the main room is always packed on Fridays, and it gets Extremely hot & stuffy in there. But don't be turned off; you can escape to the artsy white room and have a seat on the circle couches or just stand around and get a breath of fresh air. There's also an outdoor patio that you can escape to as well, with a few tables and chairs allowing you to be nosy and look at who's in line. But, on some nights when the white room and the patio are not open, I think it would behoove them to turn on the a/c.
All in all, I really like Noir! Send me a note if you ever decide to go on Friday. Chances are you'll see me there ;-)

We hit up Noir late-night this past Saturday. I had been wanting to go for a while as a friend of mine promotes Friday night there and I've heard pretty good things.
I was a little miffed to pay $10 for cover after 1 a.m., but whateves-that's how it goes. The crowd was pretty good - mainly beautiful professional folks. The music was "eh". I would have preferred more hip-hop, but instead heard more mainstream stuff like Mary J's new song. The female bartender had an attitude and my drink arrived in a scalding hot just-washed glass that immediately melted all of the ice in my drink. I'm glad the glass was clean, but it's poor bartending protocol to serve a customer a drink in a hot-a** glass.
All in all, it's a pretty good joint to go to in Castleberry.

So I must say this is a great new spot in Atlanta. It is quite TRUE you are the company you keep and on Friday nights (around 9pm) you will not be disappointed.
This was a great spot to listen to LIVE jazz, have GREAT drinks and people watch. On the walls they had an old school "early 50's" movie playing on the back wall and in the other room you can enjoy both modern and classic style art.
This is definitely a "must see" spot especially if you are looking for that "true" metropolitan feel.

So I've been hearing hype about this place for months now and finally took the plunge to experience it for myself. From outside, the black box (which is basically the exterior of the place) should've been a signal to me that I would walk into an environment that IIIII deem deliberately pretentious. The "private" White space (1/2 of the facility) looked dingy, but perhaps that's why it was closed to the public that evening. The "public" Black side was very "art-gallery", with a black-and-white movie being projected onto one of the walls. Most of the tables were reserved, although the restaurant/club/lounge was comPLETELY empty... I didn't "Feel good" there... Now on to the "good"... The hostess was quite knowledgeable about the menu items and made solid sugestions. The food was well-seasoned and really quite delish! My group chose several items, so I was able to test out most of the fare. The braised chicken and the shrimp were diVINE. the crab cake was ok, just a little mushy for my taste. the chicken breast was well done and the fries were scrumptious!... but my favorite item was the sliced apple garnish... I doubt if I was supposed to eat it, BUT you know me... ;-)... this sliced apple was apparently marinated in some type of spice or pepper (or perhaps it accidentally touched some of the food)... EXCELLENT combination, resulting in a very clean pallate. The "after-taste" of my meal was soooo good that I didn't even want to pop in a stick of gum... The meal left me needing to savor it for as long as possible... so anywho, i STILL don't understand why the lines on the weekend are so long when CLEARLY the place doesn't warrant it... but hey... to each her own...

If they EVER let me pick what goes into the "hot new places" lists, I would definitely have to add Noir.
"They" are evil. "They" are my bosses. Boo.
ANYWAY, this is the spot to hit when you're in the mood to sip on something toxic and slip back into the age of old-school Hollywood glamour. They have stunning specialty cocktails, great desserts and small plates for you and your stylish, trendy friends to nibble on while you kick it in their black-and-white adorned booths. The food is a tasty mix of American with a hint of French flavor...but to be honest, I was so wrapped up in my martinis that I didn't nibble on too too much.
According to Weight Watchers points, you only get 2 points for vodka. This means I can drink as much as I like, as long as I don't indulge in extras like food...maybe I'll copyright the Vodka Diet. Yeah...
