This place is awesome!

I've been here for both brunch and dinner and while I definitely prefer their brunch both were great.

The corned beef hash is amazing. My mouth is watering just thinking about it and the breakfast burrito is as big as your head. No really...

They do take reservations for dinner which I would recommend as they are very popular. I've had to wait 10-15 min for a table @ brunch but the servers are very friendly and helpful (coffee while you wait).

Overall the servers are great. Anytime there is an unreasonable delay they make up for it (usually drinks on the house). That being said I was sort of tricked into getting a second mimosa because the waitress was unclear about whether it was a free refill or a new drink (though in her defense most places with bottomless mimosas advertise it everywhere so this was probably my fault).

For dinner we had:
the spinach artichoke dip with homemade chipotle tortilla chips) -- **Very good**

the stuffed dates --rich but tasty

The stuffed burger -- I like the idea better than the reality. I kinda felt like a brie stuffed was a little too rich and the melted brie overwhelmed the taste of the burger and the portobello mushrooms.

Overall 5 stars for the brunch and 4.5 for dinner

A worthwhile place to check out.

Well, we were looking for  a restaurant for our 7th year anniversary dinner. 7 years is long. And wishing lucky 7, so it got to be special.
My gf pick the place.
She said, " The website photos lookin' really good."
So we went.
We had:
Fall Salad 11
Filet Mignon 24
Stuffed Burger 14
Magic Mac 10
1 glass of red Zin 9
Blue Moon 5

The Filet Mignon - rare was phenomenal because grilled one side only. So one side was crunchy but the other side wasn't. it looked just like a good slice of Aka-Maguro. And .... ummmmmm !
3 bites and melted in my mouth.
It was beautiful.
One of the Best and perfect Filet Mignon - rare I've ever had.

Magic Mac, I had have the baked macaroni and cheese with bacon!

Stuffed Burger stuffed with Portobello mushroom and brie cheese!
OH HELL YES! The brioche bun was nice and crispy.
The Fries was really good too.

I must say, it was GREAT.
Food and service and everything.
Small, cozy restaurant that we want to come back.

Thank you Nob Hill Grille.
NHG made our 7th year anniversary dinner SPECIAL!!!!!
Very special.

I have literally waited to be the 200th review so I could figure out how to write a review on my dinky iPhone screen while waiting for the Bart.  Just for that added degree of difficulty in saying how good a restaurant Nob Hill Grill is.

Honestly whenever I'm in the area I make a point to stop in and be greeted by the extremely friendly and personable staff as well as the owner who's often there as well. It's always an overtly comfortable and enjoyable experience within the Grill even before you consider the food.

The food of course is the typical reason to enjoy a restaurant and the Grill does not dissapoint. I make frequent exploration of the specials myself as they always seem to be trying new things which I'd like to cach before they're gone. The chefs are consistent and imaginative in their productions and I especially enjoy sitting at the bar so I can see them work and occasionally inquire what whatever they happen to be workng on is, so I can take note and order it later. Anythng you order is unlikely to dissapoint and I take special note of the occasional events they hold as the last one I attended "A Tribute to Pork" was a multi course experience I hope to repeat sometime.

All in all a great restaurant worth going a block or two up from Polk to experience or come down from the shining hotels on the hill to partake of.

I miss Nob Hill Grille.  This used to be my usual Sunday breakfast spot years ago when I lived in S.F.  I went there for so many years, I watched the owners' children go from being under foot to bussing tables to cashiering and cooking.  Consistently good food at fair prices, served with special attention and care.

So incredibly delicious. A burger stuffed with cheese? Does it get any better than this? Here this restaurant was, hiding ONE BLOCK from my house and it takes me 2 months to find it. Excellent service, very sweet waitress who didn't even ask us to quiet down while we were yelling about rather inappropriate topics and the best mac and cheese ever. period.

Yet another delicious brunch at the Nob Hill Grille. This time, I finally tried their renowned breakfast sliders - three mini brioche buns each topped with a circle of Italian sausage and scrambled eggs. Lip-smack, lip-smack - p e r f e c t - Worth getting up a teeny bit early to beat the inevitable rush of brunchers.
We were seated right away, so I could slide these babies down without hesitation. Five nom nom nom stars.

Cozy, delicious and inviting. I went with a friend, but can't can't wait to go on a date here- it has great date potential.

The wines are a great place to start and the attentive servers will help you pair with your menu choices. They have an open kitchen so you will see the owners bustling behind the counter, and catch the chef working with beautiful threads of sugar while perfecting someones dessert. It's entertaining and amazing.

I had the duck appetizer, which was succulent and beautifully displayed. Then followed with the Magic Mac (mac and cheese with thick cut bacon) yum, yum, yum. Traditional cheese flavors with BACON!!!

Need to say more???

I came here for a pre-game brunch on a Saturday morning.

It was busy but not overwhelmingly so.

Service was excellent. My cup of coffee was never left unfilled.

I had the Pesto Scramble which had homemade pesto, eggs, cheese and sausage. The ingredients were fresh and the eggs were cooked the perfectly. My friend had the Breakfast Sliders that looked very good as well.

I would definitely would come back again.

We were staying at the Mark Hopkins Hotel and needed somewhere for dinner. I plugged in my location in to http://OpenTable.com and this eatery popped up. On the strength of the reviews I found we had to try it out. I must say we were not disappointed. A short four block walk from the Hotel and we arrived at the unpretentious restaurant frontage, you could almost mistake it for a sandwich shop. Once inside you immediately feel the cosy and intimate atmosphere wrap around you. The place is long and narrow with a downstairs area, the upstairs tables runs parallel with the bar seating and kitchen.

I was starving (slightly hung over) after a previous night on the town at a Motorhead gig, my hearing still shot I listened to the super friendly server (turned out to be the owner) describe the specials. I settled on what seemed to be a signature dish, the Chicken pot pie and a side of Super Mac'n'cheese (carbs much needed!), the wife had the fish special. The food was freshly prepared so a little wait ensued, time to enjoy the FireSteed Pinot we ordered. The food was outstanding, with very generous portions, the Mac'n'cheese left with me in a box for lunch the next day. We will definitely return to sample more of this delightful venue, hopefully breakfast. Highly recommended.

I walked by this place at least two dozen times the past year and would eye it and chirp "We need to try that place!" to the boyfriend.

We finally tried it. And I died...

And went to heaven! Wowzers.

Breakfast sliders = mini brioche buns, sausagy goodness, eggs. Side of home fries. Super super SUPER fantabulous aioli which I could NOT get enough of. Yeah, it was really that good. I had seconds.. of the sauce.

The Nob Cobb was creamy and had huge beautiful chunks of avocado and bacon and chicken and probably some other delish stuff that I'm forgetting. It was pretty damn good. Although I didn't like the bread that came with it (however I completely smothered each piece in the aioli and it made it 85% better).

I'm saving that last star for when I try dinner. I have a really great feeling that I won't be disappointed.

This place really deserves a 3.5 stars.

We ended up here after a failed attempt to eat at another restaurant. I had Nob Hill Grille bookmarked as something to try from a friend's recommendation. So I called in and put my name down and arrived at the restaurant 20 min later.

I approached the host/ server and he promptly seated us. The restaurant is very cute and cozy. They have bar seating and large plasma TV. The bar patrons had a great view of the kitchen staff preparing all the foods. There is also a small dining area in the back as well if you wanted a more intimate dinner.

We ordered: Stuffed burger w/portabella mushrooms and the chicken pot pie. I really wish I did order the mac and cheese though. We had to wait a bit to order our food and our drinks took a little awhile. The host was quite busy taking orders, cleaning orders, processing bills, etc. Finally our food arrived; I think the pot pie does take a while to cook since it is puff pastry. Everything was hot and delicious! Pot pie had juicy chicken pieces and wonderful bits of pancetta. It was creamy and delicious. Stuffed burger was also very good seemed a little small though. Sweet potato fries were yummy with the chiptole aioli.

Though the food was delicious, it didn't leave us with the "wow" factor. I'll have to come back and try a few other dishes.

The Grille is, sadly, no longer on my corner. Don't freak out; *I* moved, not them :) Fortunately my biz is still within a 15-minute walk, and the Grille's kinda sorta on my way home, so I'm still able to get my now-only-weekly-fix!

They recently renovated a bit, and although I can't say I noticed much difference, I'm glad they're taking good care of the place - cuz I plan to keep eating here for YEARS. In fact, I believe the Fall menu update is near - I can't wait to see what new delights Chef Heli has in store...

PS my last visit (Thursday) was on the night of possibly the biggest thing that ever happened to my career. My Dad & I had already planned on meeting there when I heard the good news, so we figured why change plans? Fabio (one of the owners) treated us like royalty, and Heli made me the best magic* mac&cheese and heirloom&burrata salad was so good that my Dad actually ate fruit**!

*=with bacon!

**=yes, tomatoes are fruits. Get used to it.

I went here with a friend on 9/26 for brunch, sometime around 11:30/noon.

We were promptly seated in the lower back section of the restaurant. We both ordered Mimosas($7)  and they were pretty big, which was nice. I think I chugged mine being so thirsty at this point in my day. lol.

Anyway, I ordered a build your own omelet. I had Bacon, Avacado and then had the goat cheese added to it. My friend ordered the Breakfast sliders.

My omelet was more of a scramble, which is fine, but I would expect an omelet when I order an omelet. It was VERY tasty though and I'm only pointing out that it was a scramble because I think I should.

The breakfast sliders that my friend had were so so so good. Seriously, I know what I'm going to order next time for sure.

We also ended up getting an accidental side of bacon which we weren't charged for and who can really complain about getting bacon you didn't order? Nobody, that's who.

I also had a second Mimosa and some water.

I wanted to order a bloody mary, but they were out of some ingredient that wasn't allowing them to make those. I forget what they said. All I heard was "no bloody mary" and I think I blacked out after that. ;)

I loved eating here and am adding this to my brunch repertoire when I'm in the city and need a place to eat.

A gem in Nob Hill. I was turned to this place by a friend. On the corner of Pine/Hyde, food here was delicious. I had the scramble pesto and home made fries for brunch. The wait staff was nice and chill.

The bar is a little small, but makes the place that more cozy for a Sat/Sun brunch.

Honestly, Nob Hill Grille was such a pleasant surprise that it forced my hand to start writing Yelps of my own.

I ordered the seasonal Grilled Peach salad and it blew my mind. The perfectly grilled peaches exploded in my mouth like marshmallows (i kid you not), and they had a supporting cast of watermelon, blue cheese, and homemade garlic brioche croutons. Deeeelectable.

The side of macaroni and cheese was a great add-on. They even offer "magic mac", but I won't give away the magical surprise!

Dining Nob Hill Grille feels you've discovered of a great place that no one has unearthed yet. Great for a date!

Deserves 3.5 stars. I've been by here hundreds of times but we finally dropped in for dinner at Nob Hill Grille this past weekend. The lighting and atmosphere is great--charming and cozy. The service matched the atmosphere and the overall vibe is very pleasant.

We had:
-beet salad: goat. cheese. croquettes. baby.
-duck breast starter: delightful; my favorite dish of the night
-ocean trout special: perfectly cooked, but a bit dull conceptually
-banana nut cupcake w/nutella frosting: not my favorite. B-
-wine list: just okay; we had the malbec

All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed the meal but think the stars of the menu may be the stuffed Angus burger and the sides. Still not sure how I left without ordering the "Magic Mac" or sweet potato fries. Next time.

Went a few months ago and was very impressed. First of all it was one of those execptionally hungover Saturdays haha so I needed a Bloody Mary STAT. We sat up at the lovely coutertop which has stools along the bar where you can watch the food being made right in front of you! The girl working behind the bar made my drink right away and although they were pretty busy the service was great. Delicious spicy Bloodys and I ordered the crab cakes benedict...only have had them once before at a restaurant but these were melt in your mouth fantastic! Very rich but delish. My friend ordered the sliders and was in heaven as well. I like the cafes on Hyde because there is not as overwhelming or obnoxious of a crowd at brunch than say somewhere like North Beach or the Marina. Definitely reccommend giving this place a try!

I've lived in the city just over a year and pretty much grew up in the bay area. I just "discovered" Nob Hill Grille this summer and I consider it to be San Francisco's hidden gem. The food is just divine, the service is even better. I particularly appreciate the intimate atmosphere they offer - either sitting at the bar overlooking the kitchen, watching your food being prepared, or being seated anywhere in the restaurant having your own privacy.

The owners and staff make it a point to ensure you're happy, emphasizing the relationship they have with their customers as much as they emphasize their food.

My favourite dishes are the Burger stuffed with portabello mushroom and brie cheese, bolognese pasta, summer salad (unfortunately only seasonal), and the baby back ribs.

Kudos to Fabio and Rich for making this one of my favourite restaurants in the city.

I wanted to go out to dinner before going to see Steely Dan at the Masonic, so I found this gem of a restaurant on the internet! They couldn't give us a table for 6PM, so they gave us a reservation at the counter, which was fantastic. We were able to watch the artistry of these great cooks throughout our entire experience there and it was a treat! The food was amazing and everyone there was so attentive and thoughtful, it started off a wonderful evening in great style. I would highly recommend treating yourself to a great dining experience at the Nob Hill Grille

Breakfast was good: honey had the sliders (yum!) and I had the corned beef hash. Both hit the spot, as we were hung over and wanted something salty and filling. The potatoes were probably the best part of the meal. The service was good as well; our glasses never stayed empty for too long. At around $10 for breakfast dishes, I was satisfied and happy, and would have given 3 or 4 stars.

Then last night.. we ordered food to go for dinner. I had the pot pie (pretty hard to mess up, right?) and Luke got the bolognese. The bolognese was okaaay, though not really to my taste... There was a really strong flavor of some sort of random herb (thyme? oregano?) that threw the whole dish off balance. My pot pie was not good. The chunks of pancetta were WAY too big, and hey, I love pancetta as much as the next person - but most of it was fat, and it was way too chewy and gooey. Plus, they were way too heavy handed with the sherry in the sauce. It was all I could taste! I loooove pot pie, but there was none of the homey, familiar flavor that I expected. Bummer :( I ate maybe a third of it and then put it in the fridge.. I guess I'll be throwing it out tonight, since my garbage disposal boyfriend couldn't stomach it either.

We'll probably be back for breakfast, but at $16-24 per entree (!) we'll definitely be skipping dinner. It's not worth it at ALL for what you get. I think the main problem at Nob Hill Grille is that they're trying really hard to create memorable flavors. Maybe they're trying a little too hard. Another note: They have some sort of weird obsession with putting giant chunks of meat in everything. It was good in the corned beef, weird in the bolognese, and downright yucky in the pot pie.

Disappointing, because I really wanted to like Nob Hill Grille :(

Came her for a friend's birthday party. Cute setting and very friendly waitress. A pretty small place though so we definitely took up more than half the seating in the main dining area.
Our section shared seared duck breast and burrata &heirlooms for starter. Both were awesome, especially love the corn pancake that came with the duck, very tasty.
I had the baby back ribs as main dish, tasty and generous portion, definitely a winner. Also tried the pork chop - cooked to perfection and came with the corn pancake that I love,  Filet mignon - disappointing since it lack any taste, and Stuffed Burger - amazing, highly recommend although best eaten while it is hot.
The best part of dinner is dessert. Both the cupcake trios and brioche bread pudding were great.

Well, my first review here, and decided to choose this place, because I have recently began to frequent it, first for convenient location and also for good food... me and my "friend" came here on 3 separate occasions, breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and we were satisfied on all occasions. We tried the pancakes, omelets, of which there a few styles... and I must say the pancakes are quite delishh... the omelet was large and VERY filling :) The servers are very cool and attentive. The dinner however was really good. I had their canolli, which was made of ricotta, spinach, and other goodies (forgive my memory, cuz it was a lil while ago since I had dinner). The layout of the place is really cool as well, you have a choice of either sitting at the bar and watch some sports and yap w/ the cooks, or sit at one of their tables below where the walls are lined w/ some cool modern photography of the city. The place has a completely different mood and feeling when you have Brunch and Dinner, which is also very cool.

Now for the negative stuff... the home fries can sometimes be REALLY salty, you might have to ask them to go light on the seasoning. The hash browns are cooked in a certain way that you'll either love it, or hate it. Its cooked on high on one side, so that its crispy/crunchy, but the other end, or its insides is really mushy... not much consistency, but other than that, all else was very good. I'm gonna have to go again a couple of times at least, so that I can give a proper review.  For now I would give it a 3.5 star rating.

I just wish I lived closer to SF, I would eat here more often!  I brought my parents and boyfriend there for a special dinner last night and was especially impressed with the following:
1) although it was almost full and seemingly not very staffed, our waiter made the rounds and was very attentive.  We only waited a bit for our 2nd bottle of wine ;)
2) Speaking of wine, most of us ordered the venison (it was cooked to perfection and what a sauce!) and a Zinfandel, and he suggested the Malbec to go with it and it was perfect (and less $!)
3) They make their own burrata mozzarella - any Italian or foodie will positively melt over this one.
I'll be back and recommending this one as much as I can!

Tis a quaint restaurant with friendly service. Artichoke Dip to start is Yum-a-licious. The "Nobbers" are out for dinner in full force. I've tried all 3 of the salads on different occasions. I like simplicity- and that encompasses the feeling of this joint. 3 salads, rather than 3 pages of salads; summer, beet, and caesar. For the main course, I'd recommend the stuffed burger, Angus stuffed with Portabello mushroom and brie, or the Baby Back Ribs with chipolte BBQ Sauce. The sides are a treat as well, either the mac & cheese- which is well worth the $8, or the sweet potato fries at a steal at $5.

If only every neighborhood had a Nob Hill Grille! Probably some of you know this place from its old days as a neighborhood favorite, best known for a good spot to meet up for breakfast. Recently, under new ownership, the restaurant has quietly morphed into a full-on dining destination (without sacrificing that ever-important morning meal).

The menu is very comforting, very familiar American dishes, but done with well-considered nuances. As often as possible, the (open) kitchen use seasonal, locally sourced ingredients, and it shows. Over the course of one sitting, my friend and I tried a few dishes, and while there starters and main courses, we both felt everything could and should be shared.

The burrata & heirloom salad is a simple, creamy and simple pleasure, definitely a great way to begin. If you're feeling meaty, the baby back ribs with a bourbon bbq sauce and homemade macaroni 'n cheese will not disappoint, and the sautéed Swiss chard it comes with is a revelation. I was also a fan of the bolognese penne pasta in a house red sauce.

I also can highly recommend the brioche cinnamon bread pudding -- it's worth ordering just for one bite, it's that decadent and good. Pair it with a nice port. On the subject of wine, NHG has a well-thought out selection, but ask for ideas. Co-owner Fabio Stefani -- a guy who exudes enthusiasm for his grille for all seasons -- is almost always there; he recommended a Malbec from Mendoza and a late harvest viognier that were both excellent.

It's worth noting that everything was moderately priced for a restaurant of this caliber, making it easy to become a regular (if only parking was easier!). I'll be back for sure, if only to try their stuffed burger, a half pound Angus patty stuffed with portobello mushroom and brie cheese on a brioche bun. Well also for their breakfast sliders. And I've heard delicious talk concerning that grilled pork chop of theirs...

A must try for anyone in the neighborhood. All the food we had (Spinach and Artichoke Dip, Burrata & Heirlooms, Bolognese, Summer Chicken, and Pasta Special) was delicious, but the real stand out is the Burrata & Heirlooms. Absolutely amazing. Can't wait to try it for brunch.

And the service was excellent. Party of 3, seated immediately, and our server was very attentive and thoughtful.

I've been to this place quite a few times for lunch, but last sunday was our first time eating there for dinner.  I think their lunch prices are a $1 or $2 expensive for lunch.  But their dinner prices are pretty good.  Their food is excellent, and you really pay for what you order.  They have different dinner menus pretty often from what I hear, but we were really satisfied with our food and service.  It's a small place, but really nice and romantic.  Sometimes their service is a bit slow because they only have 1 waiter working with such a small place, but they are on top of everything.  We had their Stuffed Angus Burger and their Fall salad.  OMG...their Fall Salad is one of the best salads I've ever had if you love cheese.  Their Stuffed Angus Burger is stuffed with brie and portabello mushrooms.  That's to die for, and of course we had to have their sweet potato fries.  Very crunchy and just cooked right.  We would love to come here again! :)

Went to brunch on Sunday with my family. Luckily the waitress said sliders were on the specials or we would have left.

Service was very good. Just the right amount of attention. Water glasses and coffee never went empty.

The food was very good. The sliders were excellent. Perfect little mix of egg, sausage and light brioche. Home fries were perfectly done, right amount of crunch and seasoning. Wished I had order a mimosa like the table next to us did. Not your little champagne flute but a healthy wine glass. Why not 5 stars? My husband ordered side of bacon. It was nice thick cut but for the thickness needed to be crisped up more to avoid the tear and chew. Otherwise a perfect brunch meal!

Summer menu

The fish of the day was the seabass and it came with a watermelon salsa and garlic rice. It was good!  Everything was cooked perfectly except for the rice (minor offense really).  I would come back!

Would be more green if: they used cloth napkins

Come hungry, and come with a hankering for down-home American food with a sophisticated kick to it: not unlike Chenery Park or Nopa, another two of my favorite restos in town.

Last time I came, me and two of my favorite little piglets scarfed down more food than I can remember. But I do remember having a seared duck breast with specially made strawberry glaze (we're special like that), which was surprisingly delish. I normally don't dig duck meat (too oily for me, usually); but this was tender without being drippy. It came with a side of hushpuppy; you're just a hard-hearted soul if you don't like that stuff! An excellent wine list made for an excellent evening.

Chicken pot pie: filling and hearty, just like it should be.

Gorgonzola flatbread: Yes, please. Put caramelized onions and arugula on anything and I'll eat it. I might just lick the plate, too.

Local cupcaker Sweet Jerene's sells some wares here, too; you haven't lived until you've had her PB&J cupcake.

I'll definitely be coming back.

We discovered this place after a disaster Saturday night.  Disaster meaning 3 girls, 2 guys and 5 pairs of hurting feet!  Goddamn pointy stiletto boots!   Anyway, we all sort of muster out of bed and down to Nob Hill Grille...

Fabulous, we added a couple friends and a baby to the mix and NHG was totally accommodating.  I ordered the Juevos Rancheros (I'm a Mexican food ho) and a couple of people at the table ordered the sliders - everyone was SUPER happy with their food.  Come'on when does that ever happen?

Good location, good food, good service - I'll be back (spoken like the governator).

Came here for breakfast and found the place to be one of those no non-sense diners with a short-order cook behind the counter. Menu was pretty simple. I order the pesto scramble (eggs, pesto, sausage, tomato and cheese) and my BF had eggs, bacon, and toast. All breakfasts come with lovely seasoned, fried potatoes. Good, solid breakfast fuel with quick and friendly service. No complaints here.

The place was packed (every table filled but no line) and our waiter did great. The service was a little slow but he gave attentive service to all tables and it was only him.

The atmosphere was very nice for a calming Sunday evening after a long busy weekend. It almost made me want to take a nap.

The food was excellent I had the chipotle BBQ ribs with mac & cheese with swiss chard. Delicious the meat was tender and juicy and literally fell right off the bone. Ribs I can eat with a fork?!?! Yes please.

STILL awesome! Went last night to try their new summer menu, I had a starter of the wagyu beef sliders, pork chop and spinach, and creme brulee. The sliders were exquisite - a taste that reminded me of a white castle burger without feeling like I had polluted my body for 30 minutes afterward! The spicy relish on my pork chop was perfect and the sweet potato pancake it rested on complimented the meat and spicy perfectly.

They should change up their menu more often, especially if they're going to think up stuff this good!

Ok so I frequent this place more than other cafes in San Francisco so I decided to finally write a review.  I live a block away and feel very fortunate to have a great breakfast, lunch, and dinner cafe so close.  I would mostly recommend this place for breakfast or dinner, although a hang over day does call for some french fries.  The sliders are my favorite breakfast and I love the chicken quesadillas.  If they have the black bean soup, this is also excellent.  I also tried their stuffed burger and thought it was good but could have used a little more cheese or possibly stuffed with blue cheese rather than brie.  Overall, great place!
