The moment you get on the ferry to Sausalito you know you're in for a good time. We crossed the bay for a day-long bbq, fantastic mojitos, and a spectacular view. On our way back to San Fran we had to wait and found the perfect, locals dive bar the No Name.
We squeezed in to a booth in the back patio and started ordering away drinks and munching on popcorn. Ah but we were a loud rambunctious crew and the regulars weren't lovin' it since usually it's more of a quieter scene complete with chess games. So as you can imagine they asked us to shush it but we still managed to be the loud kids.
As we shuffled out there was a live band covering some jazzy, folksy music.
This is the perfect locally charming, close to water, salty and sweet place to grab a handful of popcorn and some drinks with your pals.

We drank across the bay at a bar with no name
It felt good to get out in the sun.
On the patio, you can't remember your name
'Cause there ain't any tonic with your gin or vodka
La laaa la la la la la
After two hours at a barbeque
Our livers were about to give up
After three hours of mojitos
We were looking for more to drink
And our waitress came with popcorn that
We threw around the room
You see we got really drunk at a bar with no name
Felt bad to get shushed by the locals.
On the patio, you can't remember your name
'Cause there's no need to pregame if you're drinking here.
La laaa la la la la la....

Had some great hangouts with Marley, one half of the resident cat duo (the other cat's name is Harley) that likes to loaf around with guests and also show off feline agility perilously traversing the rafters above. The cat was very friendly, soft and outgoing. Exactly what a resident cat should be.
You can smoke on the back patio because it's technically "outdoors" but it gets pretty bad for those of us who enjoy (and are used to) smoke-free bar environments. A good reminder of what things were like prior to June 2006, wayyyy back in the day when you could smoke in bars.
Cheap drinks and decent board game options like backgammon and chess. Keep the noise down as this is a locals bar and rabblerousing is not taken lightly!

After a bout of day drinking, BBQing and general merrymaking with a group of out-of-towners, there was no better choice for passing time in wait of the ferry than No Name.
The adjectives local, dive and cheap all apply, and we were more than happy to oblige when the townies insisted on hushing us at 5:30pm as not to disturb their residential neighbors.
And for a grand total of $56, we procured (all told) some 10 drinks comprised of about half beers, half hard alcohol.
Time well spent, observing the natives, kind of mingling with them and adding one more beverage to the pile already consumed that day.
Rock and roll!

We wandered in to the No Name bar after walking by and hearing some great jazz wafting out the door on a beautiful Sausalito day. Walked in and grabbed a couple of seats at the bar and a few draft beers. Bartender was proficient and seemed to know many of the other patrons by name. Several folks had microwave popcorn which can apparently be ordered for only $1. Nice deal!
There was a cute-looking back porch but the smoke looked so heavy we didn't try to venture outside. Music was great and we enjoyed the band very much, but otherwise nothing special. I'd stop in again if I was in the area and a similar band was in residence, but wouldn't make a special trip.

Smokey joint combining permafixture locals and 5-minute tourists. Cats everywhere.
wow, i think i must have been a different place than everyone else. By the time my friend and I hurried out of this place we decided to rename this place bizzaro-world. The bartender was rude to everyone who came in and couldn't manage a smile between bites of what I guess was her lunch. Several people asked if they could order food and were told they didn't serve after a certain time. The bartender did tell two guys that there was food a few doors down and then asked if they could bring her a side of cole slaw, and handed them a few bucks. Ummm, weird. The waitress seemed to be in la-la land and the crowd . . . hm, hard to describe. The place was almost full, yet it was eerily silent. Nobody was talking, not even to the people at their own tables. If they hadn't had the giants game on we would have been out of there in 5 minutes.
On a suggestion from my Boy's pops, We came in here the other night for drinks and listened to some cool tunes (jazz) and got our dance on a little bit. It was surprisingly busy for a wednesday night around 10.
Fun staff, nice drinks and decent music. With the right crowd, this could be a really fun little spot, especially if they are that busy on a wednesday night.

Hey Guys,
I don't know what you've heard, but if you love music, Tuesday nights are a blast. Open Mic with Dameer is always a great time.
The bartenders aren't always the best. The drinks aren't the best. But the history, mystery, and randomness that tends to happen makes this place a destination.
One night its the guy from down the street on the house boat playing his guitar, the next act, it could be a platinum selling artist.
I've seen it happen on several occasions. Nothing surprises me there.
Still waiting for Tommy Tutone, and Van Morrison to return!
it's ok. they have a patio for smokers which is a plus for some. they will send out for a sandwich if you are hungry. it's not a fancy mixologist place. it's a bar where people usually order beer or something pretty simple. the lady who owns it is very nice. they have a little stage and have music on a regular basis. oh, they sell smokes and have a piano too. that should pretty much cover it.
I am brown and not old or wealthy. This place caters to the exact opposite of me. Or maybe that was just the night I was there, who's to say? And it was packed in there. So maybe this is real jazz. What do I know. I wasn't around in the 50s snapping my fingers and being a beatnik and wearing black turtlenecks and shit, but I'm guessing this crowd was. Before they became the hippies. And the yuppies. And the rich. And the watchers of important cable TV shows. Maybe they were the "real" jazz lovers all along. But like I said, they aren't really trying to cater to my broke, brown, younger ass anyway. So peace.
This would make an excellent location for a panhandler looking to scope out some new turf. Just be wary of the po po.

Alright. I'll preface this by saying that I had never been to Sausilito before the day I took this trip. My friend described the "dive bar" down the street as somewhere we could sit, drink, and (of course) smoke. The No Name Bar looks very similar to a dive bar, and you'd never know the difference by the looks of the staff. BUT when you order a Bloody Mary and are charged $14 (premium pint draft = $6) you begin to feel hornswaggled, like the time you forgot to read the fine print. Come on, No Name. Really?? Don't dress like a street hooker and then ask for pro escort wages. But as my friend said, "This IS Sausilito." Ummmm....okay.
So beer is beer - Anchor Steam on tap is a good friend of mine - and I took mine to the back patio where I was eager to sit down and get my smoke on. The back patio is nicely organized with padded bench seating, plenty of tables of varying sizes, and lots of old people playing chess. If this place sold pitchers, this patio has potential for some serious hanging out. I did not care for the fact that there's a canvas covering on the patio, giving rise to a claustrophobic maniac inside me that surfaces when I'm smoking indoors. Just not used to it. Sorry.
There was live jazz inside but it felt too small to have a live band. Just my opinion. You could sit in there and watch but you'd have to be looking up in order to do so (raised stage) and there's no way you could talk. We stayed outside for the duration of our visit but I liked the music when I went in to take the pee.
The waitress was super helpful and attentive but the fact that she kept coming out made me feel obligated to tip her, which I was not happy about as I'd already paid out the ears for the drinks. Altogether, I know this is the cheapest place for drinks on this little strip but just because it's next to the marina doesn't mean it should be able to rob people on drink prices. If you're going to do that, put a little effort into an upscale ambiance. It makes paying $14 for a cocktail a little more tolerable.
I rode my bike over the gg bridge today and went over to no name to have a drink. The bartender is very friendly and will give you the ferry schedule or food recommendations or whatever you may need. He has two black cats, Harley and Marley, that hang out on the back patio. The patio and the inside of the bar are both nice places to drink while you contemplate whether or not you want to ride back up the hills to get to the bridge or be a lazy ass and take the ferry back. I opted for the ferry, it has a nice view and it is much less work! Beers on draft are around $6 but you are in Sausalito so no surprise there. I was just happy that there were a few regulars in there and not a horde of tourist families.
I agree that the inside of the bar does kind of remind me of the Alley in Oakland, sans all of the business cards and fake windows, of course.

Love this pub. It's our new favorite place to unwind on a Friday night and listen to awesome jazz!
Tenor sax guy has several google pages on him, the guest harp player is very well known. Go Eugene!
Dont' expect fancy, this place is funky, but in a good way. Great drinks, great music AND walking distance to home. Can't beat it!
Pinch me, I live here :D
Only down side, no food at night :( .Only popcorn. So don't come hungry!

I don't think I've ever been as thoroughly entertained by a bartender and an amazingly good jazz band at the same time, EVER. The bartender, Gregory, was hysterical and a good bartender too. The band, Michael LaMacchia, was outstanding (he plays there often, Thursdays, it looks like). Yes, it's divey, but not bad, and it's almost on the water in Sausalito. I'll be back for sure, and I'm not a dive bar gal. The music (no cover charge), the location, the characters, the crazy-ass bartender-it's a real gem.

They have KITTYS in the back room and they will let you pet them! In fact, they will love you for it.
This place reminds me a lot of the Alley in Oakland - its dark and wooden inside and the vibe is unpretentious older people enjoying music and placidly getting smashed. Its refreshingly sceneless and the staff are attentive yet casual and pleasant. One of my favorite spots north of the GG bridge.
Yeah, the place is a dive. A bit strange to see one in Sausalito, but there ya go. I like jazz, and Mal Sharpe plays there now and then, so some friends persuaded me to check it out.
I have sort of mixed feelings here. On one hand, a place like this would have made me feel totally at home when I was in my early 20s. Beer, tacky surroundings, and more-than-slightly-strange locals. I dunno, maybe I grew up or something, cause this place, despite being a clone of countless dive bars I hung out in a decade ago, just didn't do it for me.
But on the other hand, they somehow manage to book great musicians to play there. And that goes a long way.
So all in all, I give the No Name one star for the nostalgia factor, and two stars for the music.

As far as dive bars go this is a pretty normal for Sausalito. I love the patio with the two black cats roaming around and they are people friendly too! Normal drink prices and a lot of old dirty sailors if that's what you're into! It's a must if you're going out for a drink in Sausalito.
This place has a really rude waitress, who I think is named Debbie. If you are in her way, she will grab you. If you ask her not to grab you, she will be rude to you. This is a bad sign. If they fire her I'd give this place a much better rating.
Music on some nights at least is good.
All relative. Fayza's revue is excatly why we go.
Love this place, best part of Sausalito. Bobby at the weekend's is histerical, especially when abusing idiots.
Debbie the waitress is 12 out of 10.
Love the place, some great bands as well.
I love this place!!! When I was a kid I used to have to drag my grandfather out of there, no kidding! Now as an adult I enjoy sitting in the back area drinking bear on a hot day. The cats are great. I even enjoy watching the yahoos play chess, because they are not very good.
I also think it's cool there is a dive bar on Bridgeway in Sausalito! I think they made it a dive bar on purpose to discourage tourists from coming in, with a Bolinas sort of attitude --- locals only!
The food is not bad for a dive by the way.
This place was my saving grace. I was hard pressed to find some place that wasn't crawling with tourists... but i was in desparate need of some bar food. The bartender said i was welcome to bring some food in... and down the street i found some fishnchips for 3 bucks! (forgot the name of the place, but that only only happens on wednesdays. The no name bar has a outside patio with two black cats - very cool.
Excellent local spot for drinks and people watching--grab the table in front of the window and watch all the touristas walk by....Very friendly service, and friendlier locals at the bar.
No happy hours or cheap drinks here. However, they do have a heated and covered back patio with bench style seating. At the time there was a heated game of chess being played by the regulars. Two cats also hang out in the back patio, so if you are allergic, you might want to stay inside...

For a place with no name, it's fairly well known. I'm a jazz guy. I frequently go to Yoshi's to hear world class music. I live in Marin, so coming to No Name to see my local friends perform is a requirement. I often do so reluctantly. This place smells like spoiled, old spilled beer - pissy. Decor features beat up floor and furniture. Typical dive. Tourists like it 'cause there is no cover charge. And they don't come to listen to the music but to try to shout over it. Coming here specifically to hear low volume live jazz can be futile unless you sit right in front of the band.

really cool. Dropped by real quick to find a jazz thing happening. Definately on the map as a place to get back to someday.. great interior.
I give them 3 stars only because they have live music with no cover (on Sundays they've got Mal Sharpe's Big Money In Jazz Band - check 'em out, they're pretty good). Otherwise, it's slightly too dirty for a place with big windows that let the light in (a dive bar should be dark enough to hide the fact that it's so run down). Also, the drinks are too expensive (although you are in Sausalito, so I guess that should be expected). And lastly, the crowd of regulars (whom I'm guessing are locals) are a bit weird in a Marin sort of way, and rather well lubricated in an annoying sort of way.

I like this place. Go Sunday afternoon, they have an awesome live band! This place is not cheap but quaint and everyone is so friendly. I love sitting in the back and spending time with friends. The regulars are always a good time and the staff acts like regulars, check it out, grab a pint here.
The regulars make this place a gem. Live bands jamming on a stage no bigger than a dining room table. Old guys playing competitive chess out back, smoking and enjoying the heated patio. Harley and Marley (two black cats) were raised here from kittens and appreciate a scratch of the cheek. Love this place.
This pub has been around since the turn of the century (the other one) and so has the staff. For a dive bar, it's the best one in this refuge from the City. What makes this bar worthy of a drop by prior to boarding a ferry back to the City, is the vast array of single malt scotches and it's across the street from the ferry. As you know, everything, including ferry rides, is better with MacCallan 18.
