Thought I should write this while I was still drunk and full.
Oh Nizario's, I am so full. And filled with garlicy fresh pesto and cheese slices to compliment the cheesy delight that was going down with the pepperoni...oh yes.
Sobering up, thanks to you...after all it is the lord's day and what better way to celebrate than say "oh god, this is best pizza ever" while drinking my miller high life (what can i say? i keep it real).
so good, and i will definitely order from here again.
Pretty good, nothing to write home about. If I'm going to order pizza, I'd rather go for Pizza Orgasmica or even Seniore's... at least they are nice!
I called here after looking for other places in the area and giving up; it only took about 45 minutes but when the guy finally showed up he was rude and didn't tell me he only took cash (in this day and age?? also he could have asked me over the phone before they arrived) and had to call it into his boss, having me sign a random piece of paper to act as a "receipt."
Either way, working in the service industry as well, I know how it goes but expect a bit of respect in paying someone for their services. Next time, I'm calling P.O. and getting some beer in the deal!
Fortunately, Nizario's only serves pizza pie. No humble pie. A few weeks ago, I publicly poo-pooed Luke A's love of Nizario's pizza. Do not feel bad for Luke A. He was immediately and rightfully consoled with ROTD for his Nizario's review. The review was really great. It didn't give me a stomach ache the next day at all.
The other night I had an urgent need for pizza. In keeping with my thoughts on the other location, that Nizario's is the pizza of last resort, I called two other places that had already closed before breaking down and calling them. When it finally got here, I have to admit, I was in extra cheesy heaven. There is the possibility that one of the stars could be the winning beneficiary of circumstance.
I'm hoping that Luke A does not request that they add "crow" to the list of toppings.
Just a regular slice of pizza. I wouldn't go back to pay $4 for it. It definitely got me full, but for 4 slices--$16? Kinda ridiculous. You could've at least told me with that price I can get a whole pizza, jerk.
Got a delivery:
* Warm pizza (definitely not hot)
* Meager toppings
* Driver was rude
Definitely going to stick with other pizza places unless I am returning from a bar...because they are open late and serve slices.
Not bad, not great. Goes well w/ a tasty Duff. I usually find myself ordering Nizario's from bars at 12:45, they'll arrive b/w 1:30 and 2am, and I can either take my pizza home or share it w/ the last callers and a friendly bartender. Hey, it is what it is.
Decent pizza. Had a pesto with feta, onion and garlic. $22.75. Not to bad. They chopped all of there ingriendients instead of putting on whole pieces. More like it was chopped in a blender and tossed on there. Still not bad pizza. The delivery was in a timely manner too.
It's okay but there's no other better pizza joint in the inner richmond. the crust is kinda cardboardy.Once they delivered a meat pizza to a vegetarian. pizza is never piping hot on delivery. positive note: they do sell by the slice. sliced pizza is better than a whole one. it's okay. not wonderful but whatever. sucks that inner richmond doesn't have more better quality non-chinese food.
You know you order from Nizario's too much when the delivery guy comments "Oh hey you moved to a new place! How are you doing?!"
Always love Nizario's pizza...perfect cheese to tomato sauce ratio and amazing chewy crust. I personally prefer the pepperoni above all else but I've heard good things about the veggie as well. All the guys here are super friendly and accommodating.
Unfortunately I have to knock down one star because when I tried to order delivery tonight...they don't deliver past Van Ness anymore (p.s. I'm 1 1/2 blocks past Van Ness...ugh!) which is ridiculous cause they used to deliver over here! Apparently the Castro location is too far away as well which is a major fail!
This place is a great late night slice of pizza. Better than when we ordered one the last time. Ordered the slice with olives, feta and garlic and thought it was good.
BUT the pizza did seem dry and probably sat out for awhile.
I can't say it was horrible, but i have definitely tasted a better slice even if it was 12:30am on a Thursday night.
For the price, who really cares anyway....
BUT i have been back in recent times and when that pizza is served fresh it is infinitely better!!!
decent place for a slice of pizza when i am smashed & hungry after a long night of dance offs at buckshot.
i would never go here sober, that's what Giorgio's is for.
i typically dont give one star reviews but after ordering a pie from here, i have to, it arrived on time and looked appetizing, it was one of the specials. it was hot as well, unfortunatly while it did have a decent taste i have been sick as a dog from eating it. I have no idea what the hell they did but it was no bueno!
Also the garlic bread that i'd heard alot about was mediocre at best. normally i like to give a place a few tries before reviewing negatively but this place has about as much chance of that happening as a hooker not sweating in church.
AINT GONNA HAPPEN.
I'll stick to Giorgio's
I was walking down Geary, starving, and the smell of Nizario's lured me in.
The large man in front of me ordered one slice. I looked him up and down, decided I was twice as hungry as he was, and ordered two slices.
Did I love Nizario's? No.
Did I eat both huge pieces anyway? You bet.
Here's the lowdown: the slices are ginormous, the crust is too thick for my liking, the toppings are good and plentiful (I had the mushroom and the Hawaiian), the pizza needs more sauce, they do have Ranch -- though only in packets for 75 cents each, slices range from $2.75-$4.00 (most are right around $3, is this reasonable? cheap? expensive? I honestly have no idea, I don't buy enough pizza by the slice to know), service is friendly, pizza was made fresh when I ordered -- though large man in front of me got the last slice of an older pizza, they accept credit card and are open until 2 am.
Will I return? Only if I'm craving pizza and Village Pizzeria is already closed.
I used to eat here. USED to.
It's a hole in the wall pizza place, nothing more.
The pizza taste good and the people are friendly.
However...
The last time I ate there I had one slice of the meat combo. Later that night I spent much time in the restroom. I spent a majority of the next day and the next in the restroom as well. It wasn't pretty and it wasn't fun.
I admit that this only happened once of the many times that I had eaten pizza here, but once was enough for me.
My boyfriend ordered takeout from Nizario's so much the delivery guys knew who he was. That's how much we loved it (or how much I loved it and made him order it). Basically, Nizario's makes the perfect pizza. If you want a straight-up pizza that doesn't sag from grease or tout all the ways they're redefining pizza (like that stuffed crust crap that one chain does), then Nizario's is the way to go. You simply can't go wrong with them. They know what they're doing and they do it right every time. And believe me, I've eaten a lot of Nizario's pizza.
Ok at first I thought ya'll were cool, you know, like down? But tonight after a bottle of wine we really wanted some pizza. Yeah we knew that it wouldn't be Escape from New York or anything like that but we were willing to settle. Don't get me wrong, ya'll do ok at what you do but ya'll ain't all that. Tonight I called with such anticipation of some gooey cheese all in my mouth. But the guy on the phone said they don't come to my neighborhood. How come they came last time? Yeah we live in the hood but we ain't no thugs! Just some slightly tipsy peeps with a late night craving. So, I'm mad at you, Nizario's! I'm mad that you let me taste your mediocre somewhat goodness and took it away, lickety split. I'm hungry, man. WHY?!

Well, after reading the other reviews I was s little scared to order from this place being that I… Read more »
Never ordering for delivery again. My pizza was 16.85 before delivery fees, 18 after. I gave the guy a 20 and told him to keep the change. He bitched me out for not tipping him enough. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it your job to deliver the pizza? Jerk. Not only did he bitch me out but he walked away mumbling something in another language.
**
I called back and spoke to the man who took our order. I told him how rude the driver was and what he said to me. He was very apologetic and informed me he would tell the manager. He asked for my address again and said the next time we ordered they'd make sure the same guy does NOT deliver to us again.
I'm changing my 1 star review to 3 because the pizza REALLY is delicious...and they were nice when I called back. I deleted my original 5 star review cus I was THAT mad.
Nazario's is a great place to stop off to get a slice. Its conveniently located on Gary and is right in front of a bus stop.
The slices are large and taste great! I usually stop off for a slice when ever Im in the neighborhood!
The friendliest guys ever! The pizza is consistently really good (just mop the grease off the top), especially at 2AM. I like to alternate between plain cheese and the pesto special (or rather, my funds decide for me).
Also: they have been known to give away free pizza and free hugs on occasion. Just sayin'
I like Nizario's. I really do. But, I think it operates in the zone of totally adequate pizza. Good enough to draw in the late night bar crowds for cheap slices but not really outstanding.
I used to get their delivery quite often but not recently. It was a delivery experience that kind of killed it for me. The pizza was fine but we got salad (that was not totally cheap) to supplement and all it had was a iceberg lettuce and a TON of olives. So many olives that we could have recanned them and stocked our local grocery for a good week. Since then I've stuck to slices when I am nearby.
Don't know where to go after a night of drunken debauchery and tearin' up the dance floor? The is THE spot to be if you want the best pizza in SF. It's good. Like...oh-em-gee-drop-your-panties-and-twirl-them- around-your-head good.
Pesto pizza & garlic cheese bread @ 2AM is one of the greatest feelings in the world. The slices are deliciously huge and greasy and even though I know they'll send me to the toilet the rest of the night due to my intolerance for dairy products, I'll gobble down 2 slices without any hesitation. "Pain is weakness leaving the body..."
If I didn't live so far from Nizario's, I'd make a trip out here every single week for late night grub. Heck, now that I think of it, the 45 minute drive might be worth it afterall.
Three chairs and two high tables create the not so impressive store front of Nizario's pizza. That being said as far as pizza by the slice goes in SF, I was impressed. I will definitely have their pizza again, but I think it will become my favourite delivery place instead of an eat-in venue!
Meh. Had delivery from here (maybe that was the problem?) and the pizza was just OK. It arrived warm instead of hot, and the garlic bread was unimpressive. (Cheese and garlic on a hoagie roll? Come on...)
Reasonably priced though. Wouldn't say I'd never eat their pizza again, but maybe next time I should do it in person...
I often stop here late at night, heading out toward the "Outer Richmond." It is very helpful that they are open late. So, I am always guaranteed a great late-night snack, a slice of excellent pizza. Yummy!
I also get the sense that they truly appreciate my business, and I like being TREATED LIKE A CUSTOMER, not a "number."
Highly recommended!!!
You can't find pizza by the slice better than this place. Not too thick, not too thin and the slice is crunchy; not floppy or greasy. Back in the day (mid-late 80's) Blondie's Pizza by the cable car stop on Powell was the s#$! but it's now crap.
A definite favorite.
Probably the best pizza place in the city.
Features:
- Delicious pizza with soft, cornmeal crust
- Open late until 2 AM every night of the week
- Accepts credit cards
- Sells by the slice
- Delivery
- Super-friendly staff
Heading back from a bar the other night my cab was happy to stop for me to grab a slice of pizza. You can't go to sleep on an empty stomach!
Got my slice of cheese pizza within 4 minutes and sprinkled some grated parmesan on it. On the ride home I ate it out of necessity not because it was the best I've ever eaten. There wasn't enough sauce on the slice and it tasted like it had been sitting under heat lamps for 45 minutes and had dried out a bit. I wasn't impressed. They are serving here very quickly and I guess they have gotten carried away with quantity rather than quality. Don't think I will be back unless I am simply really starving and everything else is closed. Like this instance.
Nizario's, ahh many a drunken night has ended with me shoveling a slice or two of Nizzy's down my gullet. Let's face it, the pizza is average except for the Greco. Though delicious, you probably shouldn't eat it if you plan on kissing anyone that night. They put a lot of garlic on it.
Conveniently located next to the Buckshot, they have a very quick turnaround at even the busiest times, so the most you have to wait is maybe 5-10 minutes. Even then you're probably drunk or herding drunk friends so it goes by a lot quicker. Prices are cheap, it's about $3.75 for the most expensive slices and you get a good amount of food. You also get what you pay for, if you've been drinking PBR or Tecate at the Buck all night you are going to be spackling like crazy the next morning. I believe the term for it is the Nizsplosion.
Good pizza when you are drunk
The best bang for the buck when it comes to late night munchies in the Richmond.
I come here all the time after hitting up the bars all along Geary and Clement. Nothing beats a nice big slice of Pesto or Cheese after drinking some beers.
Been coming to this place for a couple of years and it is definitely the spot getting a lot of customers from the clubs and bars not to mention the stoned college students from USF.
Great pizza, great value, good times!
Nizario's, your super combo pizza is the best thing to happen to late night food since $1 for 2 tacos at Jack in the Box. I was tempted into coming here after a night of drinking by some friends. I usually like to refrain from eating late night foods since I regret eating so late at night when I wake up the next morning.
As soon as we parked, we followed the smell of pizza and the long line of people to Nizario's. They didn't have many choices left to pick from since it was 2AM and they were about to close, but we took whatever was fresh out of the oven at the time. I'm glad we did! The super combo was delicious! It hit the spot. The pizza was a bit crispy which was perfect. It was just enough crispiness to hold up the pizza, but not crispy to the point where it was dry. It was loaded with toppings and plenty of cheese. I will for sure be back!
After a long night at Ireland's 32, this is probably the only stumbling-distance place to go. So you're in luck that it turns out to be Nizario's. It's a slicery with decent prices, and the pizza is just great, sober or not. The customer service is great, and the workers are always friendly.
Also please stop trying to speak Spanish/Italian to them, they're Arabs and speak English & Arabic... I know you're too trashed to tell, but still...
I have to update. I love this place. I recently came here drunk, wearing my evening finery. And the kind young man at the register didn't even blink an eye as I gluttonously ordered up 3 slices. With ranch. I paid, tipped generously, stumble out the door, and when I open the box halfway home (like I'm going to wait until I'm through my door?), I see that he added 2 ranch packets instead of just one.
Hence, 5 stars. Plus, the pizza tasted awwwesome.
As a side note, I tripped on my high heeled shoe out of pure distraction by the beautiful slice of Hawaiian I was devouring, and fell while in a dark alley. Two options: be glad it was dark and I was alone, or be sad it was dark and I was alone. I'm just glad no one saw me, but I seriously felt like I broke an elbow, a tailbone, and a butt-cheek, in one fell swoop. Just thought I'd add that- be careful, this pizza is THAT good and distracting!

Mmm... I love pizza. Hot pizza. Cold pizza. Thick pizza. Thin pizza. Greasy pizza. "Healthy" pizza.… Read more »
i stumbled into this place by the guidance of my buddies. my vision didn't get pass about 2 feet.
i walked out with an extra slice. ready to go out again.
this place hits the spot when your not sober...
not sure what my review would look like if i was sober....
i will just stick to this...
As a self-admitted pizza-holic, I've been known to grab a slice in all parts of town. To me, Nizaro's is the best pizza in SF (Little Star & Gaspere's are fighting it out for the silver). I've only been to the Richmond location (about 100 times over the years) and the guys in there are great.
Ray is the man - he's super chill and always gives you your slice or pie with a smile. There's also a shorter guy with a mustache, wearing a hat who is always working his ass off on the pizza oven. He has been there every single time I've ever stepped foot inside Nizario's (been going there at all times of day the past 5 years)! He's quite possibly the most dedicated employee of any business establishment in the western hemisphere.
Do yourself a favor a stop in for a slice... And sign their petition to let the city allow them to stay open past 2am on the weekends.
I had the combo pizza slice . The pizza was actually not bad .. it was more on the thin side but it wasn't too thin . But I'm pretty sure it would've tasted a whole lot better if it was hot ! The pizza slices my friend and I got were cold !! I mean the least they could've done was putt it under a heat lamp or heat it up ..
Is it me or has this place gone downhill? The slices are so small for the price. You can get way better elsewhere. I only go here as a last resort due to the convenience factor.
I have to admit, I don't know much about the "best slice of pizza on earth". For those who have been following my reviews, my expertise is currently on Asian cuisine and sweets. Ironically, I grew up eating pizza pretty much almost every week if not more (hmm, more on that later). But, I came from a small town, too, so we had all the big-chain pizza places: Papa John's, Pizza Hut, Little Caesar's, etc.
There was one Italian place down the street in my hometown that made monstrous-sized pizza; I remember that pizza being delicious with warm freshly-pureed tomato for the sauce. That place was 5 stars definitely.
Aside from that background: Nizario's seems decent to me. Mellie P. and I got delivery from them last week and I didn't feel disappointed in the order. They actually delivered it relatively quickly, which is always a plus. We ordered half Hawaiian, half Pesto as our toppings; interesting combination, but it worked.
One thing about the pizza that made me feel surprised was the fact that it wasn't so greasy as most pizza joints are known for. The slices are large, and the crust was fresh. Unfortunately, by the time we got around to digging into the pizza (we waited a little bit because Mellie P. was preparing a salad for us), the pizza had gone cold. =\
So, in essence, I liked what I had, but I'll have to go back and try Nizario's again and get myself a piping-hot fresh slice.
I love Nizario's, and Lou's right, before you even hand them your money, they're shoving a slice of pizza in your face. It's great. Their pizza is solid. They have a good number of choices, but nothing too overwhelming. Basic, cheap, and good pizza.
Eating inside is not the best, but it's the same as any pizza slice joint.
Also, I just always find the ruckus of 20 guys behind the counter amusing. I always feel like there are 3 guys just standing around at the register --- also wondering..is this Nizario's related to the Nizario's in the Castro?! I'm going to figure that out right now..
2 slices (pepperoni and pesto) for $6 (no tax is good). Not bad if you happen to be around the area. Not a knock out pizza, but if you're hungry, happen to be around the area, and need something to eat, this is the place.
