Somewhat confused on that mini vampire tour at the beginning.

I had a pretty funny crowd with me and I was pretty confused when that old man started screaming he needed to leave.

That white room with all the smoke almost gave me bronchitis.

Other than that, it's okay for some cheap thrills.

The haunted house itself may have been a mixed bag, but I'd like to take a minute and applaud their marketing team for some extremely creepy posters in the subway. No matter how many ways the underground vandals sharpied that thing up... that little kid skeeved me out.

And speaking of skeeved out... while you wait on the longish line to get in, the staffer who is managing the front of the house... now HE is scary. You know you're hiring the right guy when you can't tell if his creepiness is an act or he's just actually deranged from having to deal with too many people wanting to be spooked daily.

The house itself was... ok. Parts were cheesy in a good way, parts were cheesy in a bad way, and there were a few moments that led to legitimate scares. It was an expensive half an hour, but at least they put a lot of work into it... and best of all, when I got out of there, I had fake blood all over my hands, so I got to walk around the city looking like I had just beaten someone to death with my bare hands. Which is a plus.

The only reason this place is getting even 1 star from me is because the line coordinator was hilarious! We anticipated this haunted house for hours before even entering the faux "vampire museum". I love being scared. I love haunted houses. I love vampires. These three things should have made me love "Nightmare", but it was horrible.

I spent the majority of the 30 minutes in this place laughing my ass off at these awful actors. The strippers on poles, and creepy man in the corner beating off to them was a bit much (parents, don't take your children unless you feel like explaining that to them). The actors weren't scary at all. I laughed in one of their faces and he proceeded to follow me, completely invading my personal space. Oh and just a little note: THEY TOUCH YOU (sorry, not cool).

I found it to be ridiculous. If it weren't for the 4-5 minutes we spent walking through complete darkness in a suction bubble of plastic, I would have asked for my money back. We were rushed from room to room. The sound was so weak that I was unable to hear the actor for the first three scenes of the house.

I wanted nightmares. All I got was a bunch of silly daydreams.

It was creepy and fun.

There was a part where I thought I was going to suffocate, another part when I thought I was at a club and another part where I thought I was at a teta bar. Good times! Thanks for the hook up Jane!

I hate that I have to give this place even one star.

Maybe since I'm from the South where our haunted houses are in old abandoned houses in fields or in the woods, this one just sucked for me.

35 bucks per person and we never were scared in our group even once.

Do NOT spend your money here.

The photos in the ads for this place and the photos from here are not even part of the experience.

There is a stupid bar at the end of this where they are playing dance music and selling cocktails.  You could literally hear Beyonce's songs lound and clear while you're going through the haunted house the entire time, cause the music in the bar is THAT loud.  Ruined it for me.

Also, there were rooms that were completely empty and some of the actors were not even in costume at all.

Yawn.. I wanted to get freaked the fuck out. I see these spooky things on the website, the little vampire kid eating a bloody piece of meat, yeah! Before I headed back to Long Island, I went downtown to see the show.

The beginning of the show was corny, the Vampire hostess tells us vampire lore. (She was actually kinda sexy with those fangs, I wanted to give her a love bite)

She moves us into a room that has some freaky vamps! After 10 minutes of the hissing vamps scaring you, I wanted it all to be over.

If you want to get freaked, Universal Orlando Halloween, will really freak you out. (The girl in the glass coffin covered in live rats? freaky.......)

This was just.. This would be good for a goof, if I was 21 and brought a few girls with me to seem them get jumpy. Other than that, save your $$ and rent The Exorcist.

This place was great! I had so much fun with my boyfriend. It was expensive, yet scary.  The actors were great and very well engaged in the audience. My favorite part was my boyfriend screaming as every actor seemed to jump out at him. All in all it was a ton of fun! I would recommend checking it out

I'd have to say that the promo materials hyped the haunted house to levels that were WAY cooler than the actual thing.  The picture of the girl hanging above the bathtub, bleeding to death was what sold me.  The reality of that vision was very pared down.

I guess time is money and you have to try and pack in as many customers as possible.  But, it definitely felt like we were being rushed from room to room.  When we weren't at the front of the group of 15 or so people, we would miss the surprise and sometimes the whole show in that room.  Then again, when we could actually elbow our way to the front, there would be these awkward moments where the actors would linger, growling in our faces for just a bit too long.  Eventually, I found myself making scared sounds just to get them to leave me alone.  There were occasions when we felt compelled to spend a little time to take in the artwork, but usually there would be somebody standing there forcing us onward.

The amount they are charging left my friends and I feeling pretty ripped off.  I understand rent ain't cheap around here, but seriously we could have spent that money on a pretty sweet Nosferatu costume and scared the crap out of each other at our own leisure.

Definitely not as scary as in past years.  It was way too theatrical less thrills.  I think I only screamed out once or twice.  The walk through was so short, I definitely feel like it was not worth the $35.  If not for the on-site bars offering cheap Vampire Kisses , I would be giving them 1 star this year.

Completely underwhelming.
Any place that advertises the Vampire Diaries at the entrance probably isn't going to be very scary.

They sell you drinks right next to the line, then right before letting you in tell you drinks aren't allowed inside. A-holes.
The Vampire Museum was interesting, but not at all scary.

Don't worry about the actors touching you- I was never touched by an actor once. It was all the morons who we got stuck with in our group. This douche with a sliver of a goatee and a popped collar would not let go of my shoulders, his feet literally on my heels, hopping about making noises like a wounded animal. I was very close to asking him if he knew where his balls happened to be.

When an actor gets close to someone in your party, that person is going to be someone who is easily scared. They can tell. Said scared person is going to RAM into whoever is behind/beside them in a melodramatic effort to get away (in spacious rooms, there really is no excuse for this). These are the same people who scream while waiting on line.

You want the actors to leave you alone? Its easy:
Stand up straight.
Make eye contact.
Smile.
Let them move around you- don't 'give chase'
Don't scream like prey.

Then some genius teenage hipster volunteers to 'lead' us through the 'sewer', but ends up blocking the only exit in a dark 5 by 5 room. Its hot, and there is no where to go. Finally she pushed through these inflatable walls, then screamed, "I can't breathe! No seriously!" I tell people to start backing up, thinking someone really needs to get out. She was either faking or too stupid to realize she should leave because she did nothing.

And suddenly it was over. Everyone's reaction at the end was the same, 'That's it?'  The whole thing is not long at all, and certainly not worth $30.

The short version:
NOT SCARY AT ALL
your physically bombarded by your fellow customers
there is a very nice looking stripper at one point (probably the one saving grace of the night). SKIP IT!

I admit, I get scared very easily in haunted houses. However I expected this one to be scarier. Though there was one or two things that really caught me off guard and I am sure I provided some scare satisfaction to the actors. I can bloody well scream!

Although the house seemed to be over before it began, the walk through took about 45 minutes. A bunch of actors in in about 4 different types of masks didn't do much to me but they definitely got an "A" in setting the mood. Also, the whole vampire thing was boring especially since I forgot there was a vampire theme after seeing all the zombie people. The dropping blood was a poor use of "blood" since I didn't realize it was there until an hour after I left. Some of the room were kind of confusing since you don't know if you are suppose to be scared or lost. The curtain tunnels my group nicknamed "The Vagina" was pretty cool but I would have never though that we were suppose to go there so poke around.
Save your money and get a $35 ticket. The lines weren't that long and the gift bag wasn't worth it. From what I saw, you get a lollipop, a $10 Dave and Buster card, a glow stick and 2 Saw 6 posters (Big whoop). Nightmare was a fun ride and I am sure to go next year where hopefully the whole Vampire thing will die out.
*Pros: Atmosphere, fun walk through, use of darkness.
*Cons: Smell of fake smoke, dead rooms/ "traps", some annoying actors, crappy "magic show", mostly hype, expensive tickets, crappy gift bags.

Wow. Really bad. Just really bad. So amatuerish. Pretty lame acting (not their fault, they just aren't given much to work with). I was so excited to go, but I'm so disappointed. Lots of screaming 15 y/o girls, so I guess they thought it was pretty scary. So, you might love it if you're a 15 y/o girl. Also, it was very short- they really rush you through ('they' being the actors). They aren't supposed to touch you either, but one guy grabbed me from behind. He got fake blood all over the back of my jacket. So if you do choose to waste $20, wear something crappy you don't care about ruining. Two thumbs way down.

I am torn I don't know whether to give this lots of stars for not being scary or no stars for not being scary. The thing is I do not like horror, I get frightened at horror movie commercials that air on television.  For the last two year's I have been coaxed into attending this Haunted House and it is always my hope that my fears over the years have subsided. After last years haunted house that was actually not too scary I decided to give it another shot. This time around there was nothing terrifying about this journey just a bunch of dark rooms with fake looking props and not so scary actors. Before we knew it we were at the exit scratching our heads asking "Did we miss something". Good for me because I didn't have to suffer through any nightmares through the night. Bad for my friends because they were looking to get scared out of their minds. Not worth the money if you are looking to be scared but worth the money for a hysterical night out with friends.

Thank you Jane K for coordinating!

I am not a fan of anything scary, and was pretty much reluctant to go, but I must say, I'm really glad I did! It was just the right amount exciting, exhilarating, and scary.

The whole thing took 20-30 minutes, and I like the fact that you are led in small groups. Although beware if you don't like people invading your personal bubble - that does not exist here!

The only part I didn't like was were you have to push yourself through inflatable walls - the dormant claustrophobic in me was majorly awoken!

All in all, quite a fun Halloween activity!

Came here yesterday night with my friends, I've never been to a haunted house, but this one wasn't scary at all! I really thought that after going to their site i'd pee in pants! but i was wrong..and i am very phobic and scared of everything--sadly it ended in like 20 mins, it was really short thank god we got the student rush which costed us only 15 bucks. The bouncers are really mean and won't let you go upstairs either, however i don't think it lived up to all the hype.

Fear is some funny business. I went through a phase growing up where I was obsessed with horror films and literature--once watching Friday the 13th thirteen times in 3 days. While the phase ended, my desire to have the shit scared out of me still remains.

I had the opportunity to check out this haunted house for free and had a great time. The actors are amazing and really push your boundaries, like separating people from their groups and getting all up in your face. I found myself giggling nervously throughout the entire experience which pissed off everyone, especially the "scary monsters" who took that as an affront and picked on me even more. The worst part for me was the dark--I hate not seeing what's in front of me.

Good haunted houses are hard to find and this one really got me in the Halloween spirit and made tonight's ballerina costume look even more wussy. Oh well, maybe I'll be a dead ballerina...

Not as scary as I thought it would be, but it was still a lot of fun!  My +1 and I really enjoyed ourselves & definitely got a few screams in!

I was here for the Yelp event, which was fantastic - thanks Jane K. for organizing!

Advice: make sure if you are carrying a purse that it has a zipper or closes well, things might fall out of it.  Also, try to wear comfy shoes.

For my roommate's birthday, took her on a typical Lower East Side night: Dumpling House, Sugar Sweet Sunshine, cigarettes, glares, and ... a haunted house? For thirty dollars, we hoped for the best, and were basically weeping with anticipatory fear. They get you really worked up: waiting for fifteen minutes behind velvet ropes and choosing ahead of time if you want to go on the really scary route or the really really scary route (crawling involved). You're shoved into a little room where a macabre man in striped PJ's works you up about how dark his nightmares are, not knowing if someone would jump out at you. My roommate and I are trembling, holding hands. I'm crying. And then ...

Disappointment. More than a haunted house, it's somewhat of a "dystopia house" - lots of clowns and people in gas masks and butcher suits, not really traditional scary stuff. Sure, crawling is scary, but I think Nightmares gets caught in its ambition. Old fashion scares (people jumping out at you, axes) work better than a man in a pig mask pretending to pee on you and a little girl trailing you.

Most irratatingly, any reality the haunted house had was taken away by the less-than-subliminal posters for Saw V everywhere (climaxed by the "Saw Room" in the second, poorer haunted house).

I haven't been to Blood Manor so I can't compare this in the Battle of the NYC haunted houses. It may be the best opition you have without taking the train to the suburbs. But compared to the haunted walk tableaus of my youth, this high concept, low-delivery place is good-not-great.

This review sponsored by Saw V, in theaters now.

This was the first haunted house that I had ever been to. And at this point, probably my last. In the end, it just was not worth the money (which actually worked out perfectly, because I didn't pay for my ticket).

Before going to a haunted house, I always wondered what could possibly be so scary about it. Everyone obviously knows that it's not real. Yet so many people are still scared by them. Then I think about walking down the long dark hallway in my apartment, and sometimes being a little freaked out. Even though I know there's no dead clowns waiting for me behind the shower curtain.

Needless to say, the haunted house was a let down. It did go extremely fast, and none of the rooms were that scary. But at the same time, I kept thinking to myself, "What could they do to make this scarier?" and I couldn't think of anything. Maybe I'm just not a haunted house person.

In the end, I'm glad that I did not pay for my ticket. And I am glad I got to experience a haunted house, because now I feel like I can join in on a couple more conversations around Halloween time. But would I go back? Probably not.

3 stars is pretty accurate, but only for the killer makeup job. This place is a CASH COW!!! We were able to skip the longass line yesterday due to a hookup for free VIP tix. When we asked, we were told by the bouncer that they get 1500 visitors a day to this event. Had we waited it line, it would've been a murderous situation, for it wasn't that scary to me. If you are claustrophobic, maybe, but that's it. I was told the same people from Terror on Church Street @ Orlando did this gig as well. There are 2 haunted houses on the same floor (only 1 floor). Before entering, you are told not to touch or be touched by any of the actors or you will get thrown out. Also, no cells/pagers/lighters on, as that's cheating. They mentioned that they had to throw out 5 people that day already. Various 'wussy' exits are present along the route in case you really get that scared. The goodie bag consisted of a lot of SAW V promo posters/fake tats, a glass cup, and some Dave & Buster's (very time sensitive) coupons. It was smart of D&B to put coupons in the goodie bags, as most people will have plans Halloween weekend. It was a pleasure meeting The Skipper, Quinn, and Mike from Yelp as well!

Maze1: Perhaps the coolest part of this one was crawling through a 'womb' and climbing over a toilet into the 'Nightmare Way'. The alternative is the 'Bad Dreams' way which was tamer, what? Any tamer and doves would be flying in the air. Well, at least they had the standard 'meat locker' room.
Maze2: Lots of 'press the red button', more display of scary things than actors present. Their idea of scary here was a dude holding a fake chainsaw w/ chainsaw noises in the background...umm OK

This haunted house sucks.  Sometimes haunted houses can be fun even if they aren't scary, but this one was neither.  There are two haunted houses here, which sounds great, but they are both really short.  The first one is a little better, but still not good.  The actors rush you through a lot of the time too.  Don't waste your $30.

i wanted to be scared. i thought i was going to be scared. i'm typically scared.

can i have my $34 back?

please don't make me wait in line for an hour past our scheduled "entrance time," while consoling us with the option to buy $6 bud lights. only to be herded through the "maze" (fire exit or next room? pretty simple.) of "terror."

the nyu theatre students and d-grade animatronics really made me feel like i was at a haunted house in lexington, ky. and there, my ticket would've been a lot less than $34.

don't waste your time.

I went on Nov 1, the day after halloween hoping for a fun time without the crazy lines. We went, $35 at the door (day AFTER halloween??), and it was just some walls that they put up temporarily, we had to press a button in each of the rooms after walking in - and something would happen. Well, most of the buttons weren't working and we ended up just walking into a room waited around for a few minutes and then walked to the next one, i don't know maybe the zombies were on break or something. Other "Rooms" had a zombie or someone dead looking sitting there and then when they felt like it they would jump up .... and point to the next room so we can keep walking. The whole thing was supposed to take about 45 minutes to walk through, my friends and I were out in 7minutes!!! (i know because I sent a txt message before walking in). The scariest part of the whole haunted house was one of the actors, that wasn't even in costume, jumping out at us while we were purchasing our tickets.  I love scary stuff but this was completely lame in every way.  Save your $35 and go down the block to get a fun drink.
