For a late night order, you can do far worse in the South End than Nicoles.  Their pizza is solid, and their buffalo chicken finger dinner is actually very good.  With that said, their steak tips are nothing more than small bits of tough meat, and their subs leave a lot to be desired.

However the gem of Nicoles is their house salad dressing - sounds odd I know, but it is incredible.  The salad itself is basically just chopped lettuce with a cucumber slice here and there, but the dressing really raises the bar.

Standing alone, I would probably only give Nicole's 3-stars...but compared to the other pizza shops in the South End (New York Pizza, South End Pizza, LAZ Cafe) it is far superior and thus earned the 4-star rating.

I'll be the first to say how good this place make calzones. Given that's all I ever ordered prior to 24 hours ago. But I'll also be the first to bring up my frightening experience.

I ordered the jumbo wings being nothing less than optimistic. Good quality food, friendly delivery service.. At a good price. Well at least thought.. But one of these won't be true when I finish. I find it unbelievable that a mistake this big could be overlooked.

If anyone thinking of ordering here or have in the past or working there gets to read this, understand my reasoning for this review. And it's in no way to be spiteful. I know I could have called and complained but you and everyone else needs to be reminded loud and clear how dangerous under cooked food is.

After only about a brief 2 hours of eating this, now regrettably.. unexpected chicken, I had terrible.stomach pain and nausea. To make a long story short.. I found myself kneeled over a toilet staring down at what undoubtedly was under cooked chicken. So much so, I couldn't believe I had been eating it oblivious to the fact.

I still feel somewhat lethargic after everything.. But the thought alone makes me feel sick to my stomach again. This will be my last time ever eating from you Nicole's. I hope you guys keep in mind the gravity of someone else's health next time someone decides to make negligent mistakes like this.

It's no secret a bad review could have been the least of your concerns.

I've lived in the area for the past several years, and at one point, I would regularly go to Nicole's for lunch while at work. However, I would always complain about how unaffected and miserable looking the staff seems to be, especially to a regular, almost daily customer (me). I can give them that their orders are ready in a timely manner, but at one point last summer, i was there 3 or 4 times a week, and I was always looked at in the same miserable way by a few of their employees.

I stopped going over the past several months for the reason mentioned above, but just now, I could not get through to Emilio's, the sub shop up tremont street, so I thought I'd call Nicole's. I recognized the owner's voice, placed my delivery, but he said that the $9 sub I ordered does not meet the minimum delivery requirement. I've never run in to this before, and their competitor Emilio's never does this. I said i wasn't planning on ordering anything else. He then hung up on me.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that they barely put any meat in their wraps. Emilio's is generous, timely, and most of their staff is much friendlier. Yes, this is a passionate post and ive never posted on Yelp before. But this place sucks.

Stay away for two reasons.  One the price is not good.  Two the food is not good.  I ordered a large chicken parm calzone, which made me sick.  The deep fried chicken cutlet inside the calzone took on the bad oil and it was soggy.  Gross and expensive.  A must miss place in Boston.  At $16.60 for a large calzone that tasted inedible I felt like i should have gotten my  money back.

I suppose it's the fact that it's in the South End, but here we had yet another overpriced salad take-out spot.  The quality of the meat and greens was solid, just not nearly worth the price tag.

Have you ever been really tired, lazy or just plain unmotivated (or some combination there of)? This is where I get delivery from when I find myself in such a state.

Generally I stick to a small cheese pizza and garden salad or steak tip salad (so good!) and fries (those perfect thickness pizza joint fries). I've never been disappointed, but then, I never expected much. I can say, the salads are crisp and fresh. The meat seems freshly cooked. Pizza always arrives piping hot with the cheese at that perfect state of melty-ness.

And as I've never actually stepped foot in Nicole's, I couldn't tell you where they're located without looking up the address on the menu or looking at a map. What I can tell you is the staff has always been very nice and easy to understand over the phone. The food arrives when they say it will.

    Cheap. Yummy. No frills.

Quality of food has gone down hill since they opened another restaurant. The owner used to spend a lot of time here and it showed, in quality of the subs and cleanliness of the place. Last time I went in I had a steak and cheese and it wasn't that great. There were also flies in the store. The guy at the counter had a very unfriendly look on his face when I walked in and just glared at me waiting for me to order. Not good.

Nicole's is Italian/American cuisine with a Middle Eastern twist.  Greek items like Gyros and Greek Salads are on the menu, as well as pizzas, pastas, sandwiches, subs, burgers, and fried foods, and... of course... cheesy fries.

I usually get a ready-to-go slice or two, and most of the time they are fresh and delicious.  My fav is the pepperoni,  but the bbq chicken seems to be a popular selection as well.

The wraps are also unique... Nicole's uses a pita-style flat bread as the wrap... yum.

The owner is pretty friendly, and him or his wife can usually be seen behind the counter.

I frequent this place on my lunch break. It serves as the perfect meeting spot for my bff and I because it's almost exactly half way between where we both work.  I have never been dissapointed by Nicole's. Their pizza is delicious, their service is perfect for an hour-long lunch break with a 10 minute walk back and forth. They have a great variety of specialty wraps and sandwiches, and the barbeque chicken pizza is my personal fave (although you have to put the barbeque sauce on yourself)

suggestion:  If you order anything with hummus, tell them to go light on it. It's VERY runny and it can really soggy up your whole wrap if they put the normal serving on.

Also,  this is not your typical "New York Style" pizza. The crust is doughy... and I like it that way.

Check this place out next time you're looking for a quick bite on Tremont St.

Its been over a year since my last update, and I am pleased to say that their quality hasn't diminished one bit!

I ordered two items from their menu today: a super wing ding dinner and an extra garlic, no-sauce pizza.

The wing ding dinner was exactly as expected.  The chicken was fried perfectly and well drained.  The fries were crispy and the salad was large and fresh.

The pizza was stellar.  There are few places in the city of Boston that can make a perfect extra garlic no-sauce pizza, and Nicole's is by far the best.   Unlike at other Mom & Pop's in the South End, when you ask for garlic, they give u loads of garlic!  Its truly wonderful getting a pizza loaded with fresh roasted garlic.  Their crust is still nice and thin and with zero grease.

Hands down, the best Mom & Pop's place in the South End for pizza and subs.

I've never been so happy at a pizza shop.

I basically only order the pizza here.  More often than not, it's tasty, hot, and fresh.  On occasion, they'll give you an old piece.  Ugh.

The barbecue chicken pizza is the best.

The staff is great, and I enjoy talking with Gus and his family.

Oh, the other thing I love is their chicken barbecue wrap!  I love it!!!  Mostly, the hot sauce is what makes it good.

Nicole's has been in the South End for like forever, so support it.  You can get a pizza down the street at the Upper Crust now, but don't forget about good ol' Gus.

This place is awesome. They never forget anything I order (like most places). The food is consistently good. Great pizza, apps and middle eastern food! And the service is unbelievable. I live across the street so I just go and pick it up. The same girl is always behind the counter and she is great. I have to say this because it is so hard to find GREAT service at a takeout pizza place. She is so friendly and accommodating. You can get frozen yogurt there (OMG so delicious)  and she has the common sense not to put the frozen yogurt in the same bag as the hot food! (Thank You!)

I can't stress it enough, Nicole's has they most variety,  the best tasting food for the price and the best service in the South End.

Nicole's has become a stand-by for lazy nights at home food delivery. I started with a pizza from there--thick crust and a bit soggy in the middle (need 2 hands or knife & fork to keep the toppings on the end of each slice from falling in your lap), but quite tasty and a generous amount of toppings.

Our new discovery is the calzones--they are huge (my husband can finish one, but it was dinner and lunch for me) and very tasty. They don't have ricotta cheese inside or a crispy crust like I was expecting, but still very tasty. More of a bread-like exterior and again, a wide variety of yummy and generous fillings to choose from, and comes with sauce of your choice for dipping. The salads there are fresh and crisp as well, which is not necessarily what I would have expected.

I have had wraps and salads from this place before. Whenever I stop in here for lunch at work and feel like a slice to go, a postal worker always seems to jump the line and grab all available! The wraps are good, my dad likes them better than the subs here.

The servers are disinterested at best, and can mostly be found chatting with each other or watching television. The service is fairly prompt considering the attention paid to work.

They only have six tables, so it's odd to stand around there waiting for your food. The beverage cooler sports soda, octoberfest, sutter home and gatorade, something for everybody. The walls are decorated with framed pictures of Beirut and Boston.

I am usually satisfied with the food that I get here. It's nothing to write home about though. It works in a pinch though.

    Yumm.
    No complaints.
Even on a busy weekend night, the pizza was here in 45 minutes. It was fresh and warm. The vegetables were crunchy and crisp. The meat was serious: honkin' sausage chunks and pepperoni. Have Nicole's Specialty Pizza.
One large pizza fed 3 adults very well.

The cheesecake was rich and delicate. Perfect dessert.

The greek pizza is greezy and the crust tastes stale.  Not recommended. The subs are small, though they're passable, food-content wise. Nothing about this place stands out, other than the fact that its convenient to my house. I will avoid it.

Their pizzas are great.  I go with the peppers and onion, and it is always very good.  They have great salads.  The cheeseburger is nothing fancy but man, they are pretty good when you're craving one.  I also think they make a good italian sub.

Overall, nothing crazy, but it certainly never disappoints.  Oh, and they have beer if you want to have a drink while you wait.

The wing dings are good, but the buffalo wings are dissapointing.  Stick with the wing dings if you're in a fried chicken kind of mood.

When they deliver, you can pay with a credit card.  The guy has an electronic card swiper, so you don't to go through the hassle of giving all of your card info over the phone.

I was raised on Nicole's, from way back when it was where the Starbucks is now and the interior was decorated with lattice and pictures of the old country. It was the first pizza place in the neighborhood and meant that FINALLY my sister and I could have a "real" pizza party.

So I don't know that my preference for Nicole's over Emilios is a result of nature versus nuture.

What I do know is that a small garlic pizza and a Greek salad will cure me of anything - plague, malaise, boys....

Their house dressing is fabudelicious and worth the price of the salad alone.

Please note: this is NOT pizza for people who only like thin crust pizza, or New York style pizza, or North End style pizza. It's pizza like Gus the owner makes it.

How do you f*ck up chicken fingers?  Ask the kitchen team at Nicole's for expert advice.  And while you're at it, inquire about the secret recipe for the disgustingly greasy pile of goo they call pizza.  This place just all around sucks (but it didn't until just recently).  New executive chef???  We used to order in from here all the time but won't ever again after three consecutive disasters.

So you're walking along in the South End, thinking where the hell am I going to find some decent cheap eats down here? Well, if you're standing in front of Nicoles, just keep walking. I had a slice. It was relatively thin, italian-style pizza. But that's about the best thing I can say about it. It was a huge greasy mess. And greasy pizza isn't something that usually bothers me, but this was kind of ridiculous. It was also, like Ann Coulter and Bill O'Reilly, completely tasteless and left me feeling icky. Maybe my "lunch" had been sitting around for awhile, but still. Nicoles gets the second star for at least still being there in the stroller-ridden South End, but personally, I'd rather eat at Hi-Fi sober, which is really saying something.

Best pizza by far is chicken inferno, if you're a fan of heat. Salads are generic. Chicken pita wrap was pretty good. Run of the mill pizza shop. Solid service, orders made quickly.

I'm in a coma on the couch, NyQuil doing it's job. The lady of the house decides that it would be a good idea to conjure up some delivery, perhaps the scent of pizza will awaken me from this vegetative state. Consult the pizzadeliverynets and Nicole's is delivering and happens to be someplace that we haven't tried yet. BEEP BEEP BOOP BUZZZZZZZZZZZ (sound of internet smoke signals) and a large pie with a few toppings and a salad is ordered. Mind you I am not yet aware of this. I lift an eye lid and see her studying her laptop, looking diabolical with credit card in hand. Back to sleep. Peek at clock. Has an hour passed? Lift other lid look at clock. Is it that late? Did somebody mentions a pie? Did she eat the whole pie? Where is my pizza pie? I want pizza pie NOW! No, no pizza for an hour and a half after this order was placed. The Bourne Ultimatum is on, I bet Jason Bourne would slice the head off the delivery guy that had the balls to show up to an address a mile away with a cold pizza 90 minutes after an order was placed.

So this place has been all over the map for me. I'll start with the good. I LOVE the fries here. They make me so happy I am not sure how to articulate it. Good damned fries. The chicken grinder is pretty good, and is big enough to share, so makes for a really cheap meal. The pizza is better than any other I have had so far in Boston, but really that isn't saying much. Who knew it would be easier to find good pizza in Richmond VA than Boston? This intuitively isn't making sense to me. But I digress... Pizza is decent. That's about the nicest thing I can say about it. The burger I got the other night was not edible. It was burned beyond recognition, and I'm not sure it was even meat. It is possible they but some really hard cardboard in bun and thought they could fool the likes of me. I do overall still love this place because they are cheap, friendly, have quick delivery, and those yummy yummy fries.

Great neighborhood pizza place.  Actually, they have a pretty large menu, with Lebanese food, sandwiches, burgers/fries, etc., but I almost always get a sub or pizza there.   I paid $10 for a small 2 item pie during the super-bowl, and it was hot and tasty.   I sometimes opt for an Upper Crust nearby, but I really like supporting a neighborhood, family-owned restaurant, so Nichole's is my favorite.
