Review from Ticia G.
Albany, NY
i was shocked that there were no reviews on here for Nicole's. yes, i know that she is a 'french bitch' but that is to her Benefit! she is a delight in her demeanor and the restaurant is lovely, inviting and cozy while being elegant (pretty much like Nicole). I have only eaten here 3 times for dinner but each time was absolutely wonderful (and now that i think about it, this will be the Next place i dine out.)
one of the meals i had here consisted of a gorgeous appetizer of 3 different spreads/topping on a toasted baguette. all three were wildly different but equally delicious. i had a delighful pumpkin ravioli (i don't like pumkin) that was 'moan out loud' scrumptious. I was so in love with my own food that i really dont even remember what my friend had other than that it was venison and tender and yummy.
mmm. i can't wait to go back now.
jan. 2008 update:
david and i had new year's dinner here. the atmosphere was friendly and inviting, nicole herself greeted us and showed us to our table. we were approached immediately by our server and given the specialty menu and our drink orders taken. the martini's were perfect even with my cold still lingering.
i had a potato, salmon, goat cheese and sour cream/horseradish sauce app that was so so so good. it was shockingly huge. enough for my whole meal pretty much. david had a lobster bisque that he quite enjoyed.
next the ceasar salads were delightful and fresh and perfectly dressed (david lamented that he didn't order anchovies with it however.) by the time we had finished, we were pretty much too full to even drink the wine we ordered or even think of our dinners.
david still made much more of a valient attempt than i, he had a duck dish that he quite loved and my filet mignon was quite delicious. i had to save room however - for the french vanilla creme brulee. sigh.
i thought i would explode. thank god they allowed us to cork the wine.
oh - she had asked (she being nicole) a magician friend of hers to entertain us and he really was a delight.
i was pleased that we came here. -

This tucked away restaurant in downtown Albany is a hidden gem. I worked very close by for 2 years and came here when I wanted to have something a little classier than the average bar food that is served elsewhere nearby. My wife is a vegetarian so not much here for her unfortunately but I had the lamb a couple of times and it's very tasty. Very relaxing and intimate atmosphere and polite service. Nice historical setting. If you have not tried this place out then you should.
