Do they have high chairs? Bringing one baby and I haven't been since pre-kids. Never paid attention then as to if things were kids friendly or not. 😬

There was a dead ant in my daughter's chocolate milk. The waitress acted surprised but never apologized nor tried to make it up to us. My daughter and I were disgusted. We understand that it happens, normally the food and service is great.
Update. The owner reached out the next day and offered us a very sincere apology and a chance to make it up. We will definitely give them another chance.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mar 23, 2024
Came to Nick's on a recommendation for a dinner date. It's got a nice interior which is a mix of upscale dining and classic diner. At first glance, it might seem a little pricey, but as we sat at the chef's counter and watched them work, the more I came to understand the experience I was in for. Don't be fooled by the paper menu though - this place is pure class. When the sun went down, the restaurant dimmed and the bright lights stayed on in the kitchen like a stage, which just seemed fitting for the artists behind the counter. Yes, the wait for the food is a little long, but when you can see the chefs hand preparing each detail of each dish, it all makes sense. I had the special as an appetizer which was a cheddar polenta and lamb meatballs, but what really got me was the sweet potato seafood bisque that I had as a side with the hot chili chicken biscuit. It completely blew me away with the complexity of the taste. It starts off like you'd expect, and while there's no actual chunks of seafood in it, it finishes with this excellent smokiness and rich, blackened fish taste. We both described the flavor as impossible and to this day are still under its spell.
The person who recommended Nick's to me told me the restaurant's backstory, which I don't know for sure is true, but cool lore nonetheless: the current owner was wrapping up his career but always wanted to start a restaurant. He came to what is currently known as Nick's, spoke to the owner, and it came up that he wanted to sell the place. The current owner decided this was his opportunity to own a restaurant, bought the place, and named it after Nick, the original owner.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Mar 8, 2024Updated review
So now that I've waxed poetic about dinner at Nicks, I want to talk a bit about brunch at Nicks.
I've done brunch at Nicks many times - both dine-in & takeout - & it absolutely lives up to the hype. It's busy for a reason. Wait times for tables are long for a reason. Food takes some time to come out from the kitchen for a reason. It's just SO good.
The honey chili chicken biscuit sandwich has my heart. By request, they can sub in a gluten-free biscuit. The biscuit tastes just like the "real" thing. I always opt for a side of "dressed lettuces" because the first time I ever got them, I couldn't believe that lettuce could taste THAT good. I dream about the side salad - Delicious, crunchy greens with thinly sliced radishes & maybe the best dressing I've ever had in my life.
The sandwich doesn't lose any of its integrity when I get it to-go. By the time I make it home, it's still warm & still delicious. The side salad still rocks my world.
I got brunch from Nicks to-go today & it was just as good as it's always been. Thank you, Nicks on Broadway!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0Mar 6, 2024Previous reviewWe went to Nicks on Broadway last week to try their special 22nd anniversary prix fixe menu & now I'm questioning everything. Why did it take me so long to come to Nicks for dinner?
Maybe that's the problem with doing something extraordinarily well - Other things that you also do really well can be overshadowed by your reputation. In this case, Nicks incredible brunch reputation is previously what came to mind when I thought of Nicks. Not dinner.
But now, I will always think of dinner.
Incredible from start to finish - From the attentive, kind server who sweetly guided us through the prix fixe menu & went out of her way to provide me with gluten-free alternatives, to the grand finale birthday cake dessert (made gluten-free!) that arrived with a lit candle on top.
Everything was delicious, but the star of the show was the polenta dish that the kitchen so kindly modified to accommodate my gluten intolerance. Instead of the lamb & pork meatballs (which I assume contain breadcrumbs) the kitchen substituted a ragù that's on their normal dinner menu. Thank you, for taking the time to do this for us. Thank you for literally blowing our minds.
I'll be dreaming about this polenta for years to come & I'm not being hyperbolic. I can't wait to come back!
PS - The limoncello at the end of the meal was an excellent touch. - 31911386Feb 29, 2024
Years ago I lived in Providence and I came to Nicks every now and then for brunch, but haven't been back in years. After seeing a post on their Instagram about a special birthday prefixe menu, I figured it was a perfect excuse to come back and take my husband who had never been.
We made early reservations and were seated right away by a very friendly hostess. Our server was great, making sure we had what we needed and refilling our glasses throughout the evening.
The food was some of the best I've had in a long time, the courses were served in perfect timing, and we left fully stuffed (and in my case buzzed from all of the great drinks). Can't wait to go back to order off the regular menu and try more.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - 286683Nov 19, 2023
Several people have recommended Nicks on Broadway to me and my only complaint is that I didn't go sooner. The atmosphere is definitely an upscale eatery so I would definitely plan to dress cute casual. We went for Sunday brunch and it may be my go to brunch special occasions.
Let me first give a special shout out to the hot chocolate. My favorite hot chocolate in the world is at Harrod's in London and all other hot chocolate is a distant second until this one. I think this at least equal if not slightly better so well done!
The pancakes drizzled with caramel on top were also fantastic. The pancakes are thin, almost like crepes but definitely like pancakes. They're amazing. Their flavor was so complimentary with the caramel.
My husband ordered oysters which he was very happy with. He said the flavor was excellent and the presentation was just beautiful. I would highly recommend going in! FYI they do take reservations.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Rylee T.NJ, NJ1716Apr 21, 2024
Genuinely the best food I have had in so long. My experience here today was amazing and we loved everything we ordered. The counter seats are also a nice touch, allowing for a laid back environment and to see everything get cooked. The chicken club is the best sandwich i've ever had and will be dreaming about it. Especially coming from a college student, everything was priced very fairly and i will ABSOLUTELY be back!!

Nicks serves just beautiful food that tastes great. Vibes are French bistro sophistication meets comfort food of American diners. It's so nice to see the chefs making your food, it all just feels so personal and fresh. Everything is plated beautifully, it looks like a work of art. I got the vegetable and eggs, very fresh - definitely on the healthy side and seasoned well. My friend got the sweet chili chicken biscuit - absolutely delicious, would definitely recommend this dish! They make the biscuits in house, and that biscuit was so buttery and sweet and so good. We saw someone else order pancakes and had to get them so we ended the meal with half an order of pancakes (still 2 huge pancakes for a half order!) to share and this was a real highlight for me. The crumble was so good on top and the whipped cream was delicious. The service is great. We came on a weekday for brunch and didn't have to wait at all to be seated. I have heard it's pretty busy on weekends and can be very hustle and bustle but for us was totally chill (though still with quite a few guests) on a weekday for brunch. Absolutely loved Nick's and can see why it's been a real brunch staple of PVD for so long!

Went to brunch and as always well worth the long wait. May sure to order a non cooked appetizer and ask for that right away. I was disappointed they did away with poached eggs. They use to have the best I had ever had anywhere before the pandemic. Will still go back for all their other perfect and delicious food.

I came to Nicks on Broadway during my first visit to Providence because several food-oriented websites had listed it as a go-to brunch spot. I made a reservation for myself and my partner and we were seated promptly at our reservation time. Because we had several other restaurants/bakeries/cafes on our to-do list for the day we decided it would be a good idea to split a light meal, and we ordered an eggs benedict and a fruit bowl.
The restaurant is very small and has an open kitchen so you can see the hustle and bustle of the cooks. A little loud but kind of cute and quaint. I noticed that the kitchen seemed incredibly busy despite the small amount of customers that fit in the actual space. I gathered that they must have been prioritizing a large volume of to-go orders. This suspicion was confirmed by our 1.5 hour wait for our food. I'm usually pretty patient with restaurant waits but there were so few parties able to be accommodated by the restaurant that it seemed silly PLUS one of the items that we ordered literally didn't have to be cooked. This was a shared experience as every single party had an empty table and looked hungry and distressed and we heard waiters/waitresses walk around assuring people that their food would be out "soon" (something that didn't happen with us because our waitress actually only came to our table once to fill our water and take our orders and otherwise didn't check in on us, so we were left in the dark.)
When our food came, it was just ok. The fruit bowl was mostly banana and apples so really wasn't special but it was fruit as advertised. The eggs benedict was kind of bizarre - the hollondaise sauce wasn't what I was used to. They only gave a very thin smearing and the eggs were not poached they were over easy so it looked quite flat and didn't feel like the decadent brunch dish I was used to. They tried to jazz up the dish by putting the eggs on a homemade biscuit (actualky a nice touch!) and with slices of cherry tomato and greens (unnecessary and got in our way). By the time we were done with our meal we were certain it wasn't worth the wait.
Overall: disappointing experience - food was okay. Maybe the eggs benedict were not the move but regardless of what we ordered, the wait was inappropriate, and I feel Nicks was not worth the hype unfortunately. Perhaps dining in was our mistake, as we certainly were not a priority, and it made our trip to Providence have a bumpy start!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Sep 25, 2023
We came in for brunch for the first time and it was great! The food was so good, the mix of sweet and regular potatoes for the home fries was such a smart idea and it was so good! My mom had ordered a couple things because she couldn't decide on one thing. The server was extremely accommodating and we were so appreciative of how they were willing to take care of us. My sister had the tomato and pesto grilled sandwich, she LOVED it. The bread was toasted so perfectly. I ordered eggs benny, i liked it. the hollandaise sauce wasn't really a hollandaise sauce so it was a bit confusing and the biscuit was on the drier side. but as far as flavors go everything was extremely tasty. inside was nice. we sat right in front of the kitchen. i loved seeing our meals all be prepared while we watched. would definitely recommend. and will definitely be back!
