The four stars sum up my opinion of the place...yay- I'm a fan. Although this isn't my go-to place when I need some greasy food, it's not bad.
They have the staples that most places like this do. Every fried food you can imagine, decent dogs, decent gyros....and good grilled cheese.
Parking is annoying, but the place is good. The food is quick and the staff is always cool....

If you are a fan of char foods and lived on the north side you would know that there were two Greek owned places that were called Nick's. This is NOT the original Nick's nor had it any relation to the original which was located in Chicago on Pulaski and Devon Avenue. This location always wanted a claim to fame which is why they were known as Nick's #2 and claimed a relation. Although there was never any. When the original Nick's closed... well, there you go. I just wanted to get that off my chest. Neither back then or today are the gyros here any better. But in comparison to what you find at a greasy spoon in Greektown, I'd have it here first. Food is okay. Not good enough to pull me from my Chicago favorites.  Food is pricey in comparison to a typical drive thru so expect to spend some cash.

I've been going here for decades and have never had a bad meal. Everything is great , the Burgers and Beefs as well as the Rotisserie Chicken rock, but the Gyro is really their specialty. Homemade like the sign says. Can't be beat anywhere else.

Sure the decor hasn't changed since the 70's, but the food and staff are the best. They start preparing my order when they see me pulling in.

There is something to be said for quality and consistency over flashiness.

I first began to patron Nick's back in 1987, where after a long day of my college preparatory studies, I would frequently relax and enjoy a smooth banana milkshake on the grease infested east bound 290 Touhy. But alas- those days of yore are far removed as my experience today enforced...

I ordered a chicken sandwich with cheddar and bacon- sans mayo, and what I received much to my chagrin- a prepubescent excuse for a chicken breast with A strip of bacon slathered in fake nacho cheese sauce.

Now when I ordered the sandwich, the elderly gentlemen underneath the pointy hat informed me they have Mozzarella, American and Cheddar cheese, so rightfully I assumed that cheddar cheese actually meant- CHEDDAR cheese!  NOT some condensed Aged Cheddar Cheese Sauce known on the market as the "Profit Maker" because it gives you 159 ounces of servable product with every can by adding 32 ounces of water and 32 ounces of pepper juice.  Oh yeah- don't let me get started about the "added flavor". anyway...

when i approached ol' gray nuts about my concerns, he then basically ridiculed me in front of the whole line waiting to order.  as if I'm crazy for wanting a slice of real cheddar?!?!?

on top of all of it- my tamale was drenched in water and runnier than shart.

all in all- a TERRIBLE dining experience. DEFINITELY NOT WORTH $8.98.

save your $ and buy 2 chickens from Trader Joes.

Nothing Special. I decided to try the Gyros sandwich. It was just OK. There are much better Gyros sandwiches in the Chicago area.

I purchased the Gyros plate and there weren't that many fries with the thing. It was right in the middle of dinner time and there was only one couple in the place. The price was a little high. I paid over $6 for the Gyros and fries.

This is the first time I tried Nick's. It is very old looking inside.

I'm not sure if I will return again. There are just too many better places to eat in the area.

For the most part, Nick's is just your run of the mill old-fashioned fast food restaurant.  I don't know why it's called a "drive in"-- I guess as opposed to having girls skate out to your car a la American Graffiti.

Anyway, the food is tasty.  They have the usual: burgers, gyros, rotisserie chicken.  But, I always come here hoping that the soup of the day will be the homemade egg lemon.  It's really authentic, and you don't have to go all the way to Greektown for it.  Excellent.

Very solid gyros joint.  The gyros meat they use here is top notch and tops in the area.  I've had gyros in greektown and this place holds its own. The inside looks a little dingy but it is a drive-in I guess...bottom line is the food is good.  Yummy steak fries, shakes and pizza puffs too.  In terms of  value, go for the gyro platter for a generous helping of meat and fries.

Great gyros. The sign on the window says they're homemade, and they certainly taste different (and better) than the Kronos gyros you get everywhere else, with big chunks of garlic in the meat. We didn't have anything other than the gyros, but we were very happy with them.

I grew up with this place!  Can't believe there are no reviews!  I haven't been there in a long time, but it was already really great for Gyros and Burgers!  I will try to visit sometime again and will add to this review but had to show some love!

i'm not the bashing type, but this place needs some help.  my diet coke tasted very odd (generic syrup or just a bad mixture?), gyros meat lukewarm at best (and i've had tastier), and its overpriced imho.  not many other patrons at dinner time, is word spreading?
