5 reviews for Nickelodeon Suites Resort
Apparently after the below reviews, Nick Hotel did some major improvements.
The rooms aren't exotic, but they're comfortable and spaced nicely. The pools are phenomenal and big enough to handle big crowds. Granted, the week is the time to go.
Even with the big crowds, people were strangely well mannered, which was a nice change.
For purchases and such, it went real smooth and there were no breakdowns that we ran into. We were there for 4 days and it was a freakin' joy.
Yes, the food isn't gourmet, but it's fine. The staff was very friendly and were attentive to the needs of the guests.
Best thing about this place is you don't have to leave. There's tons of stuff to do and the kids will love it.
For the adults, bring your own booze, as their prices are bit higher, even though they employ as slightly heavy hand to make up for it. If you tip the bartender (like you should) they remember you and take great care of you, as they get really bad tippers there (saw it, it was brutal). But to cut into your costs, bring some beer, wine, booze, and then bring them out from your room with you, they don't hassle you at all.
Big thing, plan on coming during the week, as the weekends get way crowded.
Highly recommend this place. Caveat to that would be if your plans were to go to the amusement parks around Orlando. If you're going to Disney, Universal, etc, then you're spending too much money to stay here. You stay here if 90% of your time will be here.
Also, we made our reservation on their site using the Florida Resident discount (saved $100/night), after shopping them on Orbitz & Expedia. Talked to a woman there who had booked this and a previous stay on http://Hotels.com and got it for $50/night less than we did, so shop accordingly.
What you have to understand about the Nickelodeon Family Suites Hotel is that under the fancy name and novelty theme, it's just a HOLIDAY INN.
Of course, the kids want to stay there because the rooms are decorated with Nick characters, have playstations in them, bunk beds and such. Everyone wants the Spongebob rooms but what they don't tell you until you get there is that the Spongebob rooms are always booked up and cost more than a random room. What? We got a Fairly Oddparents room, and the kids were disappointed.
Since it's a Holiday Inn, the soaps and shampoos were horrible, the towels were stiff and scratchy and the showers weren't very strong. Since it's a kid-oriented hotel, the TV's didn't have any of the movie channels I suppose not to offend any delicate sensibilities of children or soccer moms.
Add to this heap of annoyances a DECIBEL LEVEL running nonstop from 8am to 10pm of just screaming. And crying. And music. It was insane, I have never heard a din like this in my life. I hope their employees are paid well because it was out of control.
There are two fancy pools for the kids, but there was a shortage of beach chairs for the adults. When you have a huge pool filled with children, shit happens. Literally. We were escorted out of the pool twice because of poop, pee and puke. Then they close the pool to shock it. Then all the kids flood the "mall" section of the hotel and bring the noise to an area with acoustics.
I will be honest, I don't like children, as a rule. And I can't handle large gatherings of children. Our happy little group picked up the worst virus ever coming home from Florida and all I could think of was the running noses, grimy hands and germ-ridden surfaces en masse as I sat in my bed at home, shivering and wishing for death. I cursed the Nickelodeon Holiday Inn with each shuddering breath.
The kids weren't even that impressed with it either, which was funny. They found it interesting to point out the stains on the rug, the peeling wallpaper and they bitched that it cost $ to rent playstation games, yet they put the console in the kids room. Thankfully it didn't rain during this trip so we weren't stuck in there for very long.
I'm giving it 2 stars because it was super close to all the parks and because the breakfast buffet was pretty slammin.
I sent this in to Nickelodeon Family Suites Hotel by Holiday Inn and I never receive a reply from them.

Okay, so this weekend was one big bust!
This blog is for anyone who is thinking of taking their kids… Read more »
This hotel makes the best of kids into crazy-eyed little monsters & their parents too. Everywhere I turned little kids are screaming they don't want to leave the "mall" w/o having their hair braided or nails done or being in the arcade for 2 hrs wasn't enough. Saw parents lose it when they have to wait for a couple Subway sandwiches for 45 mins because of the incompetent help coupled with the constant breaking down of the computer system handling the billing (this also happened at the pool bar) so it was cash only all nite & it seems to make people to pay cash. This place has so many issues I couldn't possibly name them all.
If there was a Las Vegas for kids, this would be it! The Nick Hotel, is non-stop fun and entertainment for kids. Water slides, Min golf, a mall, an Arcade, fast food, two great pools, Nickelodeon characters walking around and so much more!
We just got back from our stay there. Mid-May is slow time for Orlando- which to me, is the best time to go there. When you arrive at the hotel the whole place is on lock down. Even taxi cabs have to stop at the gate to give the security guard your last name to make sure you have a reservation. We got to check in early, we arrived at 11am. This was probably because it was slow time, during the summer I doubt this would happen. As the parents are checking in, there is an area with a big TV, Spongebob playing and bean bags for the kids to lounge at while they wait for you.
The staff gives you wristbands to wear the entire stay. Keep these on because if one disappears it's $25 to replace!
We stayed in a King Suite. We had a full kitchen with full size Fridge, oven, microwave and dishwasher! Rooms were very clean and came with a free safe.
We stayed in building 13 facing the lagoon pool. This was a great location, we loved it! The pool was large and is open until 11pm during off season, and midnight during the summer. There are at least 8-10 life guards at any given time. If you ask them a question, they don't even look at you. Their eyes never leave the pool. Very impressive. For the kids that are not great swimmers they offer free life jackets. There is a huge water-slide on one end and a tiny slide and sprinkler park area for the younger ones on the other side of the pool. There are free towels, and loungers for you to use and you can also rent a Vip Cabana that includes 4 luxury loungers and beach towels, cabana service with nonstop cocktail waitress and a tv and Playstation. Well worth the money! There is a bar and a grill right next to the lagoon pool. We never went to the other pool (the oasis pool) because we were so close to the Lagoon pool and loved it!
Every staff member that either walked past us or was near us, stopped whatever it was they were doing and acknowledged us. Said Hello, asked if we were having a good time etc. Great customer service!!!
Here are a few tips that may be helpful to those planning their trip to the Nick Hotel.
#1- Bring multiple bathing suits. So one is always dry!!
#2 - DO NOT go to the Nick Hotel in the Summer. IE-when school is out. Because the staff and others said that it is nonstop mayhem there. The pool is over-jammed with kids, it is hard to find chairs by the pool, and there are lines for everything.
#3 If you want to do the character buffet breakfast do it on the last day, because chances are, you won't need to. The characters are walking around and it is very easy to snap pics with them instead of paying for it!
#4 Buy tickets for Universal or Seaworld in the GIFT SHOP not guest relations......guest relations is another name for TIME SHARE SELLERS!!
#5 Always have your camera with you!!
#6 Ask anyone that has ever been there --DO NOT buy tickets to a bunch of theme parks because your kids will not want to leave this place! Of course that is totally up to you, but the purpose of the hotel is pretty much the HOTEL! Kids love it, they don't want to leave. Even talking to other parents poolside, we chatted about how hard it was to get our kids off the property! We were going to go to Seaworld our last day but our daughter begged us to stay on property, since we did not pre-buy our tickets to Seaworld, we ended up staying and had a blast!
