6 reviews for Nickel Nickel Five Cent Games
If you like video games, especially old school ones, check this arcade joint out. Keep in mind I haven't been here for about a year, but from what i remember its pretty cool from a nostalgic point of view...
The place itself is a little run down, but it offers fairly decent games, given the price. You initially have to pay 3 bucks, but once inside most game are just a nickel. Some of the newer games are 3 to 4 nickels a piece, but still way cheaper than playing at D&B per se. The games in the back are free with unlimited play; the only drawback is that the controls may be broken, such that a few buttons don't work or the controller cant go a certain direction. The free games are usually older ones, but classics nonetheless, such as frogger, galaga, street fighter 2, etc...
Over all its fun to come here and play a for a few hours some decent games, and only for a few bucks. I doubt you'll leave angry here, and I guarantee you'll be feeling like a kid again playing here.
Nostalgic Feeling at Nickel Nickel!..

This place is an okay place to be for a cheap date, but I'm guessing if you really like the girl don't bring her here because there would be a lot of disappointment. First of all, there's the entrance fee. And when you get in, you pay with nickels - sure. But each game isn't just one nickel, they're multiple nickels. It quickly adds up. Not to mention that there are machines that are broken but there are no signs to tell you so. There are also games that are Free Play which means you don't need to put any money into them, but I don't know how fun you think they would be - Michael Jackon's Moonwalker comes to mind. Their Air Hockey table kind of sucks, too. Be prepared to feel the shock of the puck hitting the paddles going through your hand.
I have to write a review for this place to warn people about it! DO NOT COME HERE! Unless you want to get robbed/pick-pocketed!
I use to come here a lot because it was cheap and my best pal is an extreme gamer. Okay I mean it is cheap and there are tons of games to play. It is cheap and the lighting is very bad there. When I was playing a game and not paying attention someone stole my wallet. Okay I had my purse over my shoulder and it was not one of those that has a clasp to close all the way. I mean that's how good they are as thieves! They took it without me knowing when the purse was held close to me. Now i hold my purse much much closer because of them! =*( The worst part was they stole my favorite wallet that is IRREPLACEABLE! I can never buy the same one again. It's so sad!
So don't come here. It's a shady neighborhood where a LOT of HORRID kids go there with no morals. I would rather not play games than come here. Just go rent some games and go home to play. It's a LOT safer than here!
I went to Nickel Nickel with my bf a few months ago thinking that it would be a fun and cheap way to spend an afternoon. We made the drive from Irivne to find it tucked in a medium-sized plaza. When we went in, we discovered that we had to pay full price to get in! We paid it, hoping to get our money's worth with lots of cheap game play. We were highly disappointed with the game selection and even more disappointed to find that all the good games were "Out of Order." Also, a lot of the games cost many nickels, so don't expect to get too many games from $1.00. Granted it's still a ton cheaper than D&B or any other arcade, but I definitely did not think it was worth it.
this is the place for a cheap date..i've been with my boyfriend now for almost four years...so coming here was a breath of fresh air..and we can act like total dorks and kids..your money is definitely stretched....though i wouldn't place it on the same level as chuck e cheese or boomers...i still love playing the old school games like the Simpsons and frogger..
Remember the days of Pac-Man, Double Dragon, and Tetris for the price of a quarter? Today's arcades seem to be a dying breed. Game companies like Sony, Nintendo, and Microsoft have created home gaming machines that have surpassed the graphical power of arcade machines. Arcade games were once the measuring stick for sophistication with home consoles always coming a bit short but that is no longer the case. Why go to the arcade then? To move while playing naturally. Wield a samurai sword, play a guitar, shoot some peeps, drive a car, dance, dj, virtually. Most people who own home consoles lack the steering wheel and sniper rifle that can be found at the arcade which finally brings me to Nickel Nickel. Nickel Nickel is very affordable, to play games one pays a $3.50 entrance fee and one only needs nickels to get started. The most a person will pay for one game is a whopping 35 cents, most games however cost less than this. There are also free games from antiquity like Michael Jackson's Moonwalker or Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, perfect for the nostalgic gen xer's that crave two dimensions. Oh yes, there's also games that reward you with tickets like skee ball and basketball. Win enough tickets and buy completely inane prizes, but it's the thought that counts right? Don't worry if you get tired, there's a rest area to relax in, the rest area designated for the patient parents who decide to let their children loose with a five dollar bag of nickels. See, some exercise can be gained from playing video games.
