15 Bucks.
Will be a nightmare for you if you get the older lady - she sucks ass.
I used to only see Sue there but she has gone independent after having a baby and no longer works there - if anyone has her contact info please share.
I did trials and tribulations with others there and had bad experiences - but then I discovered Thao. Super sweet girl - spend about 30 minutes with her each time and we hardly understand any of our conversation, but it seems very kind and well intentioned nevertheless so we chat along not understanding anything - but smiling. I think we have a crush on each other.
She gives a good cut, and takes her time each step of the way to make sure you are happy with it. Then the massage is a bonus extra, but she can't do it if the boss is around from what I gather.
I've often thought while sitting in here that it would be a good place to pick up the right girl. I've seen some cute onces come in, and what Man wouldn't agree that any chick that looks good and is fine with a $15 haircut is the bomb. There is just something so great seeing girls who have come to the conclusion that paying $130 in a trendy salon is not what makes them attractive.
I drive form Sausalito to get my $15 hair cut here, but will have to look elsewhere if my girl Thao ever leaves....
Linda ruined my Halloween costume. I specifically said I wanted an early 90s fade - I'm dressing as MC Hammer - specifying a 2 blade on the sides and a 4 or 5 on top, and she went straight to a f-ing buzz cut. There is absolutely no way to salvage this right now. I am a stickler for detail on my halloween costumes, and I have every aspect of this down to a T. I planned on shaving the lines into the sides of my head on the actual day, but now it's a goddamn buzz cut that won't look anywhere near accurate. She even was talking to me about how Hammer is from Fremont, blah blah, knowing exactly what it should look like, asking if I got the dance moves (I do), and she proceeds to shave it down to a complete freaking buzz. I'm pissed.
I'll never understand why people feel that paying $70 for a haircut makes them look good. No. I'll be the first one to tell you: Long and short bangs/ emo haircuts/ bobs make you look like an idiot. Especially if you are a girl.
Now that I got that out of the way, I got a cheap haircut and it looks better than the expensive ones.
If you wanna go get some stupid shit for $80 go to Blade Runners. If you want a nice haircut done by a lady with years and years and more years of experience than Blade Runners or your local expensive salon stylist, go here.
P.S. Why do men pay $60 for a haircut? That's just plain stupid.
Wow. I just read through the rest of the reviews and am glad I had nothing close to those experiences.
I walked in bc I was tired of dealing w/ another really bad, cheap haircut I had gotten in the Mission ($10 btw!!!!) and just needed a trim and for the layers to be fixed up.
The guy looked at my strands of hair and we had a good laugh at how incredibly uneven it was. I am a real victim of cheap haircuts and looking for the right place to get one... no real luck until here.
Anyway, he trimmed it up, gave me some MUCH needed layers and thinned out some parts that REALLY needed it and no one has ever done for me... GENIUS!
Like other ppl said - I didn't get anything major here - just a trim and some layers and I paid $20. I didn't get it washed or anything either.
Totally worth it.
I came here because I wanted a trim. That's it- simple enough. Instead about 3 inches got taken off & I was given a sloppy new hair cut. My bangs were cut to 2 different lengths. There were longer layers and then really short pieces. I have no idea what happened but I've been wearing my hair back and bangs pushed to the side for over 2 weeks now. This was just a trim I can't imagine asking for an actual hair-cut from this place. I don't know who cut my hair but do know it was a Vietnamese woman.
I started coming here years ago when I lived on Ashbury. They were close, they were cheap, they took walk-ins, and they gave nice simple haircuts. What's not to love?
I once decided that I wanted to go somewhere more "in." You know, one of the places where all the stylists have post-modern mullets? Anyway, I picked up the phone and *gasp* called for an appointment.
"Well, only one of our stylists is taking new clients"
"Oh. Ok. Can I make an appointment with him or her?"
"Can you do next Thursday at 3pm?"
"Uh. No. I have a job. Listen, I'll call back some other time."
That weekend, I went to Nice Cuts and was in and out in 20 minutes. I have stuck around the same general area of the city and still go here, and I doubt I will go anywhere else any time soon.
Sue's been gone for awhile but THAO RULES! Get an appt with her and get a great cut + head massage and a hot towel. For $15? Come on people! Where's the love!?

Hard to argue with a $15 hair cut ... but I will.
Came in once for a regular old trim. It was fine. Nothing special, but fine ... especially for $15.
Came in a second time for a regular old trim. This was rolling the dice one time too many. The haircut was so uneven that it was like she wasn't even trying. I've got to say, it may have been the worst haircut of my entire life ... and I've had some bad ones.
Not that paying a lot of money for a haircut means you will definitely get a good one, but Nice Cuts is a prime example of "you get what you pay for."
Walked in and got a cut from Harry today. He gave some input and suggestions on my otherwise vague instructions of buzz it all off. I have nice, short hair that looks pretty good. I'd recommend him.
Stick with my girl Thao and you'll be fine. Granted I am a guy with short hair so I'm relatively butcherproof, but I have been here enough times to weigh her work against that of the other, older woman (whose name I don't know--she frightens me), and Thao is a fucking hair surgeon in comparison. We chat it up throughout my regular cuts, and though she is a sweetheart her Vietnamese accent is thicker than my hair so I think we only end up understanding about 70% of each other's conversation. She certainly takes her time but gets it right, and gives a nice little neck massage at the end of the haircut, it's great. Thao comes highly recommended by me and you can check my hair in the photos I've posted, it looks amazing.
That being said, I fully understand the glut of 1-star reviews for Nice C's when in reference to the older lady, whom I am sure is the cause of almost every one of them. I let her cut my hair once in a pinch when Thao was gone and I would never again trust her with bladed instruments so perilously close to my eyes and jugular. I can tell, through my own experience and by watching other people get massacred, that she has no plan of attack when beginning someone's haircut. She just jumps on your dome and roots around with a pair of scissors until shit starts making sense to her. There are expressions of confusion and uncertainty all over her face yet she will doggedly fight through to the end, your hair being the only obstacle in her path. The results are often tragic; she might as well be trimming you up with a fork and knife. Also, she wears really thick glasses so make of that what you will. I'm just saying.
Boo to scary hair assassin who looks like she cuts hair with a hatchet, yay to Thao and the best business name in the biz.
I'm not a slave to my hair cut.
But.
God damn.
This place sucks. I mean, I would pay them to NOT cut my hair, that is how bad it is here. I mean, sure it is cheap but I think my mom did a better job with the flow-bee.
I've been here twice before and then again today . I've been satisfied all 3 times . I noticed the last two times I got the Same Stylist . Her name is Su and she did a wonderfull job my last 2 visits . She is my new stylist and I am happy with the price at $14 ! I will go back and recommend this place to anyone who has growing hair :}

I was just looking at my past reviews and reading their other reviews . LOL at the new hater review by Sally H. (H for hater ) . The Su everyone is talking about has not worked there in 5 months due to having a baby so I'm not sure who you are or why you wrote your fake review but good luck to you and your Yelp career !
I went here for two years and got consistently shitty haircuts. I treated myself to a trip to a salon and I was blown away.
Style!
Gentle hands!
Artistry!
Conversation!
None of that at Nice Cuts.
Don't expect to get a T-bone at McDonald's.
It is, what it is-a cheap haircut.
It's perfect.
For $14, you get something simple and functional, but you should make sure your hairdresser speaks good english first.
I had a haircut accident (cut a chunk out of the left side by accident) but it was also longer than I wanted... so she did a good job with a number 4 trimmer to even it out, and it worked.
I remove all my stars because Nice Cuts in the Haight laid off my guy and a bunch of other people. Not cool.
Now my hair is a mess.
We live in a pricey city so a reasonably priced hair cut shouldn't be all that bad. If you go in to have a hair cut with a good attitude, then you'll be pleasantly surprised on how well your hair cut experience turns out.
I've always had a consistent hair cut and have had the cutters communicate to me along the way on how my hair should be, not a problem. They don't try to create a jennifer aniston look or brad pitt look if that 's not what your going for.
Give this business a break. Dont't be fooled to think, you will have excellent cut when you pay $60 vs. $14.
What's with the comments on poor english. The whole intent is to comment on the service.
Two words.... SUCK & ASS. I know that its a $14 hair cut, but hell I went in to get my hair evened out (my hawk was really long in the back and wanted it the same height that's in the front). She didn't eve do that right. Then she asked about my bangs, and if she wanted her to trim them up. I told her sure (before realized she wasn't doing the job right in the first place) I told her I have a V shaped bang though.
SHE THEN SAID:
"I don't think I know how to do"
But as she said that she was trying to cut them before I could stop her! Ugg.. Save your self $14. You would have better results doing for yourself at home.
Ask for Thao - she's fantastic, sweet and is a high end customer service natural. But most importantly she really knows what she's doing with men's hair. Best $15 haircut you're going to get anywhere - I've paid 3X as much for a substantially less satisfying result. Take advantage of the opportunity before she moves on to the big leagues.
Basically the same as Trimmers (same owners) but less filth. Worse haircuts.
Worst. Haircut. Ever. I was skeptical upon walking in. The older Asian lady (Marlene) sensed it and basically attacked me to sit in the chair. She was totally incompetent and defensive; preoccupied in a dumb conversation with her colleague while fibbing to me that my lop-sided doo (and sideburns) was done and looked great. She didn't even wipe the excess hair off my face. I looked like "IT".
I'm still scarred from my memory of getting a so-so haircut here in high school, and afterward being coerced into tipping--before I knew that tips were commonplace (although not expressly required) for haircuts.
I love the Haight, but don't get your hair cut there. I tried at Nice Cuts once. Big mistake.
The pricing is very reasonable, and the hairdressers friendly. My cut there was very basic and came out fine, but I wouldn't go there for anything complicated. I'd say it is an ok place for a basic trim, but I'd check out somewhere else for anything beyond that.
if i could give this place zero stars, i would. i'm still dealing w/ the horrendous after effects of the mess this barber shop created on my head. don't go here - plain and simple, they only offer bad haircuts. it's as if the "stylists" never cut hair before.
go to the sister shop in the marina - their barbers are much more skilled.
