I'm so pleased with the service we received from Next Day Blinds. Terri came and helped me pick out blinds to fit our need and budget. She was so honest telling us what would be a waste of money or not worth it etc. The Installer was terrific as well. Quality blinds are expensive but Terri was able to make it work with using their store brand vice Hunter Douglas and many instances . I'd been stressing about blinds for weeks in our new home and I'm so happy to have it is all done now!

I have used Next Day Blinds for many years and have had them make and install blinds and shades all over my house with great success. They are professional, locally owned, and the measurers and installers are skilled and polite. I usually go to the store in Arlington, which is great. This time I ordered wood plantation shutters using the At-Home Service.
They look great and I received the same great service. HOWEVER, I was not prepared for the shutters to emit such a strong smell from the paint.
After two days of suffering, I called to report the problem. They were aware and admitted that some people are sensitive to the odor. I am expecting a call from them next week to tell me exactly what it is. I washed the shutters with Febreeze, which helped some, but not enough. I also ran an air purifying in the space constantly for two days.
After working for a day in the room where the shutters are I became sick with flu-like symptoms. My eyes also burn and I get a headache. Not good.
They said it takes about 2 weeks to a month for the smell to dissipate. This was the first I heard about a smell from the V.O.C., a term they used.
They were very nice about my experience and agreed to take the shutters back if necessary. Overall they get 5 stars, but this experience with the smell that people knew about but did not share, I have to reduce by one star, even though they have been great about replacement.. Just be careful about the wooden Plantation Shutters.
Update: I increased my stars to five. I have done some other business with NDB and they really are deserving of 5 stars. Great prices, a focus on customer service, and fast service. They excel in those areas in DC, MD, and VA, aka the DMV. -

This is as good as it gets for 5 star service for blinds/window treatments service. After moving into a house that had no blinds to cover up for privacy, I was in desperate need of help. I looked up this place on Yahoo! Yellow pages, gave them a call, and someone was able to come out to my house the very next day to do an in-house consultation for free. My consultant, Jen Armitage, was a pleasure to work with. She was so knowledgeable, had wonderful taste, and knew exactly what I needed and the type of budget that I had. She measured all my windows (40+) and was able to get that done in less than 2 hours. If you want qualtiy blinds, fantastic service, and a knowledgeable staff, look no further! Remember to ask for Jen Armitage. :)

Next Day Blinds is a really professional organization. I have mostly good things to say about my experience with them.
I requested an in-home consultation through their website, which was very clean and easy to use. They got a consultant out to me in 2 days, which was fine. She was so friendly, and she really knew her stuff. I felt very comfortable with her recommendations, and I have a feeling that Next Day Blinds really goes above and beyond to hire good people and train them well. A *lot* of companies in this region offer really poor, indifferent customer service, but Next Day Blinds is an example of how it should be done instead.
Installation was fantastic as well. Two men arrived at my house within the allotted timeframe, and they were very nice and professional. They installed my blinds quickly and well, and gave me some good tips on how to care for them. I was really very impressed. The blinds themselves appear to be of great quality, and the company offers a lifetime guarantee in case something goes wrong.
My only complaints? First of all, the cost! I got basic, straightforward white miniblinds, and my windows are not that big. The blinds alone cost me over $300. Installation cost almost $200 on top of that. Yikes. It's kind of absurd for installation to cost almost as much as the product! In total, the installers were at my house for about 30 minutes, so I paid Next Day Blinds the equivalent of roughly $400/hour for their services. Hey, they were really good, but that's an absurd amount of money.
Secondly, it was a full two weeks between when I ordered the blinds and when they were installed. Not to sound like a jerk, but there was nothing "next day" about the experience. They never told me why I had to wait so long for simple, plain white mini-blinds. I'd understand if I had a complicated custom product, but I didn't.
And finally, they gave me a *four hour* window for the installation team to arrive. To be fair, the company did call me 10 minutes before the installers arrived. But that wasn't really helpful - I had to carve 4 hours out of my day to be home, anyway, since I had no idea when the "they'll be there in 10 minutes" call would come. It would be so, so nice if the installers could narrow down the time frame a little bit, maybe call you earlier in the day once they have a general idea of how their day is going to go. Four hours is a huge block of time.
Overall, I would recommend Next Day Blinds. I have never dealt with a company in Northern Virginia that has such consistently good customer service, and that counts for a LOT. And, like I said, the product is good and the staff very very competent. But do beware - you pay a lot for the privilege, and they'll keep you waiting a lot longer than their name implies.
