3 reviews for Newport Marriott
It's a Marriott. Bath and Body Works toiletries are always a plus and bed was big, clean, and full of pillows of different shapes and sizes. I was a little disappointed that our reservation specifically say "water view" and our room looked out on the inner courtyard of the hotel. OK I guess, but when there's a guy playing the piano down there at 5pm when you are trying to take a nap before dinner, or a brunch being held at 9am on a Sunday when you are trying to sleep (and you keep hearing the applause of the attendees), then it gets a little annoying. To be fair though, it was the weekend of the Newport Jazz Festival and we did arrive very late (8pm) so may have missed the boat on a prime room. But still.
You can't beat the location though, or the fact that they forgot to charge us for parking in their garage.
Is it worth the $600/night that http://marriott.com was looking for? No. But we were staying with Marriott points, Iso can't complain.

My feelings about this hotel are pretty neutral, leaning a bit more on the positive side. There's nothing wrong with this hotel but at the same time, nothing that out of the ordinary. A solid choice if you are looking for a standard, well run hotel.
First the positives: The Bath and Body Works aromatherapy toiletries in the bathroom were a nice touch. Also I appreciate that they use the washable duvet covers (at least I can delude myself into thinking that they are "clean." I thought it was smart that they don't have bedspreads (does anyone really use them). Finally, if you are traveling by bus, I believe this hotel is right next to the bus station.
Negatives: The walls are paper thin and since there are a lot of kids here, you can hear a lot of screaming. Also make sure to request a room that is not an interior facing room -- unless you don't mind your window facing the hallway.

My least favorite kind of hotel--the one where all the rooms open into the center atrium (like an Embassy Suites).
Rooms are nice and look newly remodeled. No complaints there.
Miserably rude staff. I've never experience a hotel where every person I interacted with (in person or on the phone) was rude, filled with snide and sarcastic comments. Very unappreciated.
