This little park provides a break between the California Ave mansions and is, coincidentally, one of the best vantages in this part of Reno, for watching the 4th of July fireworks.

Great place for a picnic or to grab some quiet time with a book. This little park was donated to the city by a resident who wanted to be certain they never got a neighbor on this side. Very clever.

There is some playground equipment, and charmingly, a small stone wall (built from natural stone) along the edge of the playground that separates it from a grassy area comprising one half of an oval.

    Very nice!

It's true there's almost no parking "at the park," but since no one is ever here, you can get parking right across the street. The park is on a summit that overlooks a busy street below, but it also provides a breathtaking view of the mountains to the West. It's a perfect vantage for watching a storm roll in or for taking in the pinky-orange beauty of our fantastic Sunsets. Very romantic!

This little gem of a park is perfect if you are looking for some space to yourself...there is hardly ever anybody there!  The location, on a bluff overlooking the Truckee Meadows, is gorgeous and peaceful, if you ignore the cars driving by on California.  There is plenty of flat grassy space for a game of bocce or croquet (just don't hit the balls out toward the street!), and a crescent path that follows the edge of the bluff with plenty of overlook benches to sit and enjoy a sunset.  At the edge of the park is a really sweet little playground that is clean and safe with a well-designed jungle gym, a little rock climbing wall, two slides, and two toddler swings.  There is also a table with a grill next to the playground, if you feel like having a picnic.

The main problem with this park is that there is no parking, you have to park across California on Newlands Circle and cross the street.  Despite the well-marked crosswalk, drivers on California rarely stop.  Be VERY careful when crossing here!  That is the reason I dropped one star.
