    Wow so many whiney haters.  The service this, He didn't serve my drinks that, I'm spoiled blah blah blah.  Look.

    All I know is 1) the western bacon burger is like halal crack.  It's addictive and makes me feel good.  I finish and I want more.

    2) teriyaki wings.  Hmmmmmmm sweet sticky goodness

    3) hotwings. You can't go wrong.

    The only thing that sucks is the gentrification of the Mission.

    The emptyness and flies should have been my hint to run away. My girlfriends fries were alright but took forever. My hot link came out super late and was incredibly burnt. When asking for a refund after eating 3 bites of it they offered to make me another one which I refused. I will never come back here. OBW is my wing stop.

    Went for lunch on Sat and the first thing i wondered was why am i the only one here??? Well, what i should have done was turned around and left, but my daughter was keen in eating a burger so we stayed...
    She ordered a burger and fries - burger comes out first, had to wait about 5 min for her fries, the wife ordered a philly cheese steak sandwich -hmmm - it was ok
    Son ordered a fish and chip meal - fish was burnt!!!
    And I ordered their advertised special Nachos grade - a huge platter of Nachos, with ground beef, cheese , sour cream etc - 2 THUMBS down. Bad choice!!!!!

    Taco bell does better than this.....

    Eeeeek. Where to start? Lets just say i wish Yelp had a negative star i could leave, actually 5 negative stars. How can this place stay open!? Here it is... let me sum it up in a short version.

    I was called a FAG and he even used the N word. You know what the N word is. Its so bad, i cant even repeat it. Never have i EVER experienced something like this!  Under NO circumstance should the OWNER of a business treat ANYONE with that kind of behavior.  I was very offended by this harassment, especially when im a gay WHITE male. All i tried to do was return my COLD nachos. And no i do not want you to heat them up in the microwave! What kind of restaurant is this!

    Also, i noticed i was overcharged by a fare amount. I asked him how much everything costs, and he gives me attitude. Then realizes he overcharged me by $6, while irritated that i even noticed. So watch out people, he WILL overcharge you, and serve you nasty cold food.. thats if he even stays open.

    Gotta run... time to call Better Business Bureau now. This place is not going to last.

    The whole place is so depressing. The guy working there, possibly the owner, was annoyed that we ordered food. What's that about? It's open late, in the Mission, and serving WINGS, yet the place is empty. That guy needs to stay behind the scenes and never speak to a customer again.

    I used to live in Western New York.  These are not wings.  The traditional recipe does call for margarine, but I ordered the "spicy" wings and margarine was all I could taste.  Too much margarine, not enough hot sauce.  There was an odd sweet taste to them as well.

    I left feeling unusually heavy for wings (from all that butter substitute).

    Good choice for halal eaters looking for wings and burgers.
    Totally hits the spot.
    The buffalo wings  are perfectly spicy and great flavor though they are a bit expensive for what you get. The Jalapeno cheese burger was really good as was the halal bacon avocado burger. Downside is that they have no combo meals, which just doesn't make sense.

    Okay, I still like New Yorker's food, but otherwise, it's just not what it used to be. The people aren't as friendly, the prices have gone up, and the last two times I've been there, the place has reeked of Pine-Sol.

    I used to be within a couple blocks of this place pretty often, so it was a convenient place to eat. Now that I'd almost always need to go out of my way to get there, I really...don't. It's just not special enough.

    I wish these folks would put in a little effort to hire some friendlier staff and redecorate the place. Maybe put in some more pleasant lighting. I think if that were the case, more people would go. It's almost always empty in there.

    There is a serious difference between this place and your regular burger joint....This place is halal which I didn't know what it meant until my friend told me.  Their meat is fresh and cut in a way correct way according to the Islamic culture.

    Their service is a bit slow but its well worth the wait.  The burger I order was something i never had before. It was so good it just melts in my mouth. Who knew that a burger in a wings place would have one of the best burgers i have ever eaten.

    don't waste your time.

    I've given this place more than one chance to at least fulfill my wing fix. They always disappoint. As a native midwestener, sometimes i just need a pile of delicious spicy wings. As the name would allude to, you'd think this would be the place to go. The wings are tiny and slimy and the sauces suck. This place sucks so bad it makes me wonder how they even stay in business, my money is that it's a front. don't eat here.

    After ordering food there, we had to go back and "request" the drinks we ordered. Service was very slow and not very customer friendly at all. While ordering, I checked to see if there were free refills on the fountain drinks and was assured that refills were free from the manager. While having dinner and requesting a refill, the manager mentioned that only one refill per customer, and denied a proper refill after that.

    I felt very distrusting vibe from the manager & lack of business ethics from the manager by not disclosing his business policy of only one refill while eating. Although our party ordered a lot of food, one would need a little drink to counter act the spicy hot wings.

    Regardless, this is one establishment I would not recommend to any of my friends.

    I used to love this place. I went here last night and spent $16 on what I thought was a waste of money. I'm sorry NY Buffalo Wings.

    I order 13 Wings (2 Stars = Very Dry)
    2 Orders of Veggies (Not bad)
    1 bag of Homemade Chips (SOGGY!)

    The guy who took my order didn't even know the address of the restaurant.

    Please improve the food. I'd love to come back in the future.

    All the Best to you.

    First off: I ordered a burger with mushrooms, cheese, no pickle, no mustard; also got 6 spicy buffalo wings. You know what I got? An undercooked, over processed hamburger with pickles, no cheese and canned mushrooms. Worst burger I've ever had. In fact, I didn't even finish it.

    The namesake, their buffalo wings, were hardly in existence. Somebody starved these buffalos. I took a bite of the first one, and it was just skin and bone. Nothing else. PATHETIC. I didn't just pay a dollar per wing so that you could give me a poorly seasoned bone.

    I got it to go, because I didn't want to be the only person in the restaurant on a friday night at 8pm. Gee. I should have guessed that it would be horrible since there was nobody in there.

    I would give this place three stars because it didn't make me sick and the wings tasted how spicy buffalo wings should taste, but if you're a fan of wings, don't go here.

    I recently bought a bunch of wings for a 4th of July party at a friends, and more than one person asked, "Are these wings from pigeons?"

    They're tiny. It ends up feeling like you paid money for skin covered bones which don't quite satisfy you.

    The only reason I would end up back here is if I was wandering through the area drunk, which is a common occurrence for me in the Mission.

    I was surprised to find the "wings" are not the main focus of this establishment.
    They only have 3 sauces, and the wings are tiny (I thought BW3 had small wings) these were pigion wings.  The spicy sauce wasn't.  The Apo looking dude with the ankle bracelet on his wrist ,who takes your order was creepy.
    There was no one in the place and it took 15 minute for six wings, then some loud, drunk people arrived.  I will not be back.

    The food here was mediocre and definitely overpriced for the quality. We were basically the only customers in the restaurant and after sitting down in the restaurant to eat, there were a bunch of flies in the dining area. I went here with a couple of other people and we all got sick after eating here. I do not recommend trying anything from here.

    I took a picture that you can reference to see exactly how small these wings can get.  Note, I have small hands so...

    The flavor is nice but it's nothing unique.  The spicy is not really spicy more like mild.  The wings are really sausey, which is fine with me but not for those who may like theirs dry rubbed or whatever.  A grand total of three flavors to choose from...odd.  I've been to tons of wing places, most of those being in my hometown of Houston, so I feel I have something to compare them to.  Also, we were like pretty much the only ones in the joint and so I'm kinda confused as to why it took so long for us to receive our order....I'm thinking they were too busy watching Law and Order SVU on the big screen.  We were kinda not that important at the moment I guess.

    Things I did like:
    It's clean inside and comfortable.  Most wing places have that oh so over powering vinegar odor, but here, not so much.  I guess that's good.

    I want to come back but I don't want to eat miniature wings.  It's kinda freakishly odd and almost funny!

    First of all, when they say "New York" on the sign, they mean it!  Don't expect phony, California-esque, cutsie politeness here because they are actually FROM NYC.  Remember the Soup Nazi?  Yeah, don't push your luck here.  Don't whine or act stuck-up and they'll be cool.

    The food is pretty delicious here, and there is plenty variety for everyone to find something which they'll enjoy; I've even brought vegans here who were able to enjoy their dinner.

    The business hours are late (also like NYC) which is a blessing or a curse as the restaurant is surrounded by bars.  I recall one memorable occasion when an older gentleman was in charge; a drunk girl from the bar next door walks in and asks "are you guys open?".  Without hesitation the gentleman responds "that's what the sign says...".

    My only complaint is with the pricing, and I would have given four stars had I not been used to eating at World Famous Grill in Bell, CA.

    Disappointing.

    Overcooked and shriveled up wings, they were so fried they lost all semblance of wings and drumettes.

    As I misappropriate a quote from Benny and Joon, "They used to be fat and juicy and now they're twisted. They had their life stolen. They taste sweet but they're just humiliated grapes."  Just substitute wings for grapes and there you have it.

    The spicy was not spicy and the teriyaki should just never be an option on the menu.  The sauce is poured on the wings, there is no marinade or soaking up of flavor; the meat does not fall off the bone, you kinda have to go all animalistic and rip it off.

    My friends knew I was going to write a not so nice review and made me promise to mention what they did like.

    Cheese sticks and Philly cheese steak sandwich - there you go, promises fulfilled.

    I hated this place for years because of the disturbing fucking logo.

    A big meaty looking short order mustachioed man with a frying pan.  In ]the frying pan was a bird.  ]A LIVE CHICKEN, REACHING OUT HER LITTLE WINGS IMPLORINGLY.  A "heart" symbol floated above the chicken in the pan as though to say "Mister, I love you.  I, the gentle hen, plead, from this frying pan where you have inexplicably placed me, even as I love live and breathe, beg, with love, for you to spare my life." Please. I Love you."

    And one night (yeah, SO I was PMSing, fuck OFF) the logo caught my eye and I stared at it for a good 2 minutes, busts into tears, and drank a pint of Jack Daniels.

    Nowadays, the management has seen fit to remove the logo, I no longer imbibe Jack Daniels, and the place is appreciably improved.

    The wings are pretty good. They are normal sized wings, and when eaten in house, are quite tasty.

    I shun the little "forearm" part of the wing and want only the meatier drumette portion. Lo and behold, homeboy was able to accommodate my weirdness for a couple extra bucks on the order.

    Sweet.

    I never have had any trouble getting extra sauces or dips. But then,  I have huge breasts, and a great smile am quick witted and flirtatious with the staff.

    Plus, I smell good.

    SO that might be the reason for my ease of wish-fulfillment.

    They also have kick ass buttermilk pancakes. I have a serious pancake fetish, and theirs are, by gods, not bad at fucking all. They give you a fist-sized scoop of real butter if you ask for butter and the dude even warms the syrup.  Fuck yeah.

    They will let you change the channel on the big ass TV too, and they have a "First Dibs" protocol in place, that allowed me to watch the whole episode of "Planet Earth" even though the bunch of Hot-n-Sexy Young Muslims who came in for their Q'ran discussion group (I shit you not, could I make this up?) had to defer to my being "Firstsies" on the TV and let me finish out the show.

    Which was a big WIN for me as it was the episode with the Deadly MONKEY Death Duelofdeath.

    Win!

    The coffee is decent. They have tea too. If you just want to sit and have a cup of a hot beverage late night, you don't have to feel weird about that.

    That also do not serve alcohol.  SO, you who abstain just because you wanna, or those who are Recovery minded, this place is the shiznit because ain't no booze up in the joint.

    Did I mention the pancakes?

    Yeah, get your ass up in there.

    Because if the place eats hot financial FAIL and another Marina Magnet hipstertrash bar, lame fuck fusion restaurant or overpriced craptastic boutique opens, you can't bloody complain if you did not support a divetastic local cool chill diner place.

    Word to your Mother.  And mine as well, for that matter.

    I want to puke now but I need to give a shout out to New Yorker's for making it happen and not messing up my order. It being super bowl Sunday, 15 min before the game started, wings are a must for football, so we ordered a bucket (50 wings...see why i want to puke??) and they satisfied our wing need. I have to say it is a hit or miss wing joint, sometimes great, sometimes, not so good. Make sure you order them extra crispy...the chips too.... and check your bag to make sure all the goods are included. And no matter how hungry 2 people are, NEVER order a bucket.... WAY TOO MUCH!

    Props for Super Bowl Sunday!!

    When someone orders Buffalo Wings, and you ask if they would like ranch or bleu cheese, and they say both, the last goddamn thing you do, THE LAST THING YOU DO, especially when they are the only one in the restaurant, and the restaurant has a maximum seating capacity of over 50, is to tell them that they can only choose One or the Other. How goddamn dare you. It's like ordering a pepperoni pizza, or a lettuce pizza for my vegetarian friends, and having the pizza chef ask you if you would rather have sauce or cheese.

    This place gives both Buffalo and Philadelphia a bad name. It is highly unlikely that the chicken wings come from an actual chicken, my guess is sparrow, possibly finch, and their Philly Cheese Steak tastes like something you buy in the refrigerator of a liquor store and microwave at 4am after three forties of Old English. If I were the mayor of either of those cities, you can believe I would fly over here and set shit straight.

    Oh, I almost forgot about the sauce!. They use this thick, bright orange, viscous sauce on the finch wings that was probably appropriated from Nickelodeon in the late 80s-early 90s, when most of their shows consisted of people getting slimed. The slime doesn't mix with the ranch, like oil and vinegar, so if you do eat here, I suggest biting the finch wing and then shoot the ranch like it was tequila.

    About once a year, the energy from the recent Wing Bowl food competition out of Phil-lay and the upcoming excitement surrounding Super Bowl Sunday comes to a head and I find myself craving all things wings. And when this happens, I find myself braving the lines at New Yorker's on Lombard St. for a "bucket" of the "spicy" wings. (I haven't yet graduated to XXX spicy.) Anything less than spicy is too bland. The wings are decent, but I have to admit, the frozen ones from the supermarket seem pretty much the same to me. But I do appreciate the puddle of sauce at the bottom of the box for some extra dipping pleasure.

    Be forewarned that they don't have a good system in place just yet. So if there are more than 3 people in line, it gets a little chaotic. They don't know whose order belongs to who, or even remember what you ordered 60 seconds ago. Calling in doesn't make much of a difference. For the ten minutes or so that we waited, I noticed three separate parties come in to pick up call-in orders, and were frustrated because their orders were not ready or lost. So be patient and sit tight.

    I stopped into this place after bar hopping around the Mission and was hoping to grab some wings to eat in the car before my drive back up to Napa. I ordered 13 wings and a bottle of water for $10.84 (tax incl).

    The wings were horrible.

    First off, the wings were so SMALL, I thought maybe they were quail wings. Second, the sauce was GROSS. Third, the carrot and celery sticks TASTED FUNNY(like someone sprayed perfume on them or something).

    I usually would not write a review unless I've tried several things on the menu or visited an establishment several times. But when you're called "NY Buffalo Wings," and your wings are crap... I don't think I need to come back and try the chicken sandwich. I'm just sayin'.

    This place gets the job done, and they are the only place I know of that DELIVERS wings! Yes, most times it's a hit and miss if the driver is there, but he was a nice guy, so it's ok.

    I've stumbled upon here a few blurry dive hopping nights, and ordered their unsauced wings with fries and cheese sauce via delivery many a time (so I could turn them into lemon pepper)

    Pretty much, I'm not the best voice of reason for this place, but their food looked decent, and when I was drunk I was satisfied, and did I mention - they DELIVER.

    The food is probably worth 2 stars.  Generic fries, wings, burgers, etc etc.

    BUT

    I have never been so amused by a restaurant staff before.  You walk in, you see about 5 people standing behind the counter, all staring at you like they just woke up.  Then one by one, we order food, and one by one, the only guy who is working writes down what we ordered and punches in the cashier register.  The other four, still standing behind him like they are bored-out-of-life.

    Then we sit down, wait for our food, which came rather quickly considering my expectation of the service has become super low now.  We eat.  One of the guys from behind the counter comes out, flips through the channel of that giant TV in the corner.   He is now comfortably seated in one of those giant booths.

    And outside the store, there is a sign that says "help wanted."

    So, well. I went ahead and ordered for delivery despite the bad reviews, out of curiosity, and because we just didn't wanna leave the house.

    Alls I can say is, if we HAD wanted to leave the house, we could have got just as good or better at the Shell station around the corner. Not that there's anything wrong with gas station food, but you kinda gotta be in the mood for it.

    Chili dog: watery, with spray-on cheese.
    Cheese fries: same.
    Philly Cheesesteak: totally fine
    Wings: Sauce good, but the wings themselves seemed like they were from diseased, scrawny chicken. They freaked me out. Couldn't eat em. Wouldn't buy 'em at the gas station either.

    I guess I assumed if a place is going to go out of their way to offer delivery, they'd have more restaurant-esque food. Bad assumption.

    As maria d. noted about this joints other SF locale, New Yorkers don't swagger around all day bragging about the peerless quality of their wings. Did BBQ wings originate in Buffalo?

    I'm going to start braying like an ass now to all and sundry about how you haven't truly been to San Francisco until you've had an authentic San Francisco-Style Grilled Cheese Sandwich.

    Sub-bog standard.

    UPDATE (11/01/06):

    Intrepid Yelper Jeff S. messaged me much background info on the above wiseapples. I felt like who Cosby was talking about in the Fat Albert intro where he says, "if you're not careful you might learn something". Thanks Jeff S!

    ~~~
    1) "Buffalo wings" did indeed originate in Buffalo, NY.  I believe the year was 1964.  The location was the Anchor Bar (though in a different location than the current joint).
    2) In Buffalo, they're just "wings" or "hot wings."  The term "Buffalo wings" originated in the mid 80's, I believe.  The wings at "New Yorker's Buffalo Wings are prepared in the correct fashion-- possibly the best in San Francisco, but just ok by Buffalo standards.
    3) New Yorkers are from New York City.  People from Buffalo are called Buffalonians.  The cities are 400 miles apart.  I have no idea who named New Yorker's Buffalo Wings", but it makes no sense at all!
    This is one of the places that I'm ashamed to review. I'm a vegetarian, so I don't eat buffalo wings. But this places is not good. The only reason I give them an extra star is because they're open late, have a seriously diverse menu and you can order online.
    They serve all the fried foods you can possibly think of and how can you go wrong with friend foods?
    My non vegetarian friend had the buffalo wings and he said they're comparable to those served by Pizza Hut or Round Table Pizza.
    They also serve samosas!
    Did I mention they're open pretty late?
    Great wings, open late.
    After a night of drunken frolic through the area, I always wake up the morning after with buffalo wings sauce on my clothes.  It's embarrassing, yes.  But that's just how I roll.
    What a rando little place.
    +'s:
    It looks like a little seedy place in Western Europe and seems to serve an international clientele.
    The fries *are* like the kind you loved as a kiddy.
    Everything is fried to order and fried well done/crispy.
    -'s:
    Everything is fried.
    The place seems to be named because the owners found a plastic adhesive sign with a name on it.
    There is a ton of ketchup. Everywhere.
    Overall, it's sort of lame, in a lovable way.
    Don't take this place seriously or expect character, and you'll be A-OK.
    I thought this place had good wings! They were pretty scrawny, but they were tasty, and saucy. Mmm, halal bacon was treat for me too! The service was so quick. I do NOT recommend the spicy mushrooms. For some reason I was thinking stuffed mushrooms, but I can't imagine anyone like mushrooms with buffalo sauce poured on top. I suggest that be taken off the menu.
    PS. impossible to park down there on a Thursday night!
    Been there once, quite a while ago.  Love the fact that it's halal (religiously slaughtered). Keeping in mind the variety I get with halal food, i'll take the mediocrity of the burgers here.
    The burger I did have though wasn't bad. It was a pretty hefty size, so I'm not sure why everyone else got skimped on the sizes.. maybe they changed it?
    The only thing that bothered me a bit about the place was that it could have been a bit cleaner, and when I went, there a group of flies circling the front of the restaurant... kinda gross..
    I'll probably give it one more chance though...
    I am extrememly dissatisfied with this place. Their wings are terrible and tiny and tasteless; the manager was rude; and when I came back for the second time last week they refused to let us use the restroom even though one of our friends bought food. Don't go here. They don't deserve you as a customer. At least not until their attitude changes.
    Regardless what some of these fern-bar Californians think Buffalo sauce is like, this place actually has the closest thing to it in San Francisco since Original Buffalo Wings shut down. I am so tired of places that serve "Buffalo style" wings that are glazed in honey sauce, or just deep fried wings with some cayenne pepper sauce drizzled over it. NYBW does it right: the sauces is spicey, vinegary, safety orange, and should leave you nice and sweaty after you eat a bucket. Granted, it probably is made with butter, but that probably explains why it is so delicious. The chicken wings themselves however are at best par. I particularly dislike the bone shrapnel you'll find in every bucket so eat carefully. I recommend ordering extra spicy with an extra side of sauce on the side so you can get them good an drenched.
    They do deliver, which is a bonus for game day, however don't bother ordering anything else for delivery, like their fries, as they will be nothing but a soggy mess.
    Finally, have a good look at their menu! They get an extra star for for giving me something to submit to http://Engrish.com. It's fun to read while you wait!
    They have GREAT chips!!!
    So I deviate from my fries sometimes...
    They slice whole potatoes into thin slices then fry it.  You get fresh gigantic potato chips.
    They also have bags of carrots and celerys.
    I used to frequent this place while I was a college student at Cal. Good food, open late and plenty of seating. It was great for going with large groups and sticking around as long as you feel like. I have gone with groups ranging from 4-20+ people and stayed for hours after finishing my food and have never felt rushed to leave by the staff. They also have a big TV to watch sports or whatever else you want.
    Food: The wings can be very hit or miss. Their wings used to be small, but recently have gotten much more meaty. I've noticed they're cooked much better when the restaurant isn't too busy. The wing sauce is great. I'm not a fan of their Philly cheesesteaks at all, but some of my friends seem to like them. I love their burgers, especially with bacon (avocado bacon cheeseburger!).
    Getting a burger, wings and drink really adds up, so this place can get pricey for a burger joint. I keep going back though because of the atmosphere, good food, friendly staff and their late hours.
