I should start out by saying that I've only received 15 minutes of treatment from Yuki. However, 15 minutes was all it took to convince me to ditch my old electrolysist.

Where to start: Yuki, her assistant, and their office are clean and professional. Yuki is friendly, kind, gentle, and works quickly and carefully. She goes to great pains (no pun intended) to make sure you, the client, is comfortable, and it's clear she genuinely cares.

Most importantly, Yuki is *great* with trans clients, understands our needs and concerns, and seems to get a lot of joy from helping us.

While twice the price of some cut-rate electrolysists, Yuki is totally worth it, and doubly so if you're trans!

They were clean & professional in terms of office environment and the service they provide, but I was a bit put off by their scheduling system.  It is evident that the NY Electrolysis Office is very busy  and in high demand (good thing), but it was quite frustrating to get an appointment.  My initial appointment took me over 3 months to book, but Yuki was really nice and told me to call and email her first thing on the specified date at 9am and she would try to fit me in.  I stayed by the phone on that very day

I really like Yuki as a person because she is very kind & friendly.  Definitely very understanding and professional as well.  She provides you with an in-depth consultation, basically giving you Electrology 101 in 15-30 minutes.  Then she gets to work, two-handedly zapping & pulling the hair out of each follicle.

My first appointment was a success (albeit difficult to book), but because of the constant confusion back & forth with scheduling my second appointment, I opted to choose another electrolysis technician instead.

    Was this review …?

Theoretically, I should write a review once I leave a practitioner for a new one (as was the case with Nios), or until treatment is completely through. But purely on the base of comparison, I can't help jumping the gun, and I promise to make amendments if need be.

It wasn't long after my last appointment that I got back on the search for another place, because I knew I couldn't let too much time lapse between treatments.

Yuki is the sole proprietor of her business, and has limited hours on weekdays (ending firmly at 6 p.m. on select days of the week), so her Saturdays are completely stacked. I found this out when I e-mailed the address given on the website: http://www.electrolysi...

Got a message back from Yuki in no time, and she was patient in the back-and-forth of scheduling. Later, I lost an important email and had to bug her to send it again, which she did with no problem, along with another reminder closer to the date (they have a very strict cancellation policy - you flake, you pay).

The day finally arrived. Barely able to wake up after a raging 1st year birthday party for someone's baby that I'd attended, I was grateful for the fact that could access the place straight from the 6. It was a little trippy when I stopped at East 21st and saw a different keypad from the one that had been described in the introductory e-mails, but then I snapped out of it and walked a few steps more to WEST 21st.

Pressed 4-8, got buzzed in immediately. The elevator was an old one with grinding gears and horrid dinging noises at each floor. The hallway was a completely John Malkovichean scene, with an unfinished look and mint green industrial doors and numbers that were all out of order. Walked all the way to one end and walked all the way back, and finally found door 904 in the most illogical location.

The office was an oasis from the strangeness; living bamboo plants, a pitcher of water and cups, seats to wait in since I was a bit early and I was the first client of the day. I filled out an information sheet while waiting.

My eyes were practically rolling back in my head from fatigue, but Yuki's bright, assertive attitude kept me awake. "You're so energetic," I said, to which she replied, "I LOVE my job. I am more stressed out if I am at home, so, ha ha ha."

I coughed like once, and she gave me a ginger lozenge from her parents in Japan while getting details on my hair removal history. Then, she left me to change, with a snuggly blanket on the table for my privacy and warmth.

She came back in the room and made a fresh bag of ice. Genius!! Not even running the clock yet, she applied it to the area until I literally could feel nothing, which was a relief after she had asked what my pain tolerance was.

Once she began working, it was clear that she was a boss at this. I couldn't believe she was so fast; the electrologist has to place a probe in your pore along EACH hair, so it takes time. And yet, Yuki cleared out more area than I had ever had done in all my treatments at the previous center, multitasking with the ice and even the application of an analgesic cream for sensitive areas.

As she progressed, it's like she prophesized which hairs would hurt more, because for those few hairs, she would move towards a combination current that delivers the required dosage of heat in a longer amount of time, thereby lessening the intensity.

She was ruthless to the hairs, confining each to a piece of static cloth to keep them away from my skin and other surfaces. She often asked if I was okay, but never stopped. She told me I could tell her if I wanted her to ease up at any moment, which I didn't!

If I talked, she kept up with the conversation, but was completely focused on her work at the same time.

The full amount of time flew by, and she stopped at the precisely right moment without commentary. She handed me a packet of antibiotic ointment just in case for after-treatment and wrote down a couple of local anesthetic options on bright Post-Its.

At the counter, she and her handsome male clinician helped me pore over her gridlocked schedule and squeeze in a few future appointments while saving a range of wait list slots.

They ran my preferred card (you know, the one I don't carry in order to avoid going broke), and confirmed that everything had gone through and that I'd get an e-mail receipt. I started opening my wallet, and the man said, "Oh no no no, she doesn't accept tips." What? And the treatment was five bucks less per hour than the other place (big difference considering all the perks)! This made me SAD I couldn't tip her!

The two waved jovially as I skipped unrushed out the door into the creepy hallway. One thing: I went to the freight elevator which never arrived, then got lost in the limited re-entry stairwell (fucking SCARY). Finally, I climbed all the way back up and found the dumbwaiter back to Earth. This is key knowledge, people.

So, Yuki is quite possibly best electrologist in the world.

I only hesitated to write this review sooner because I absolutely HATE HATE HATE to acknowledge the fact that I have unruly facial hair...eugh. Let's shorten that terrible phrase to "UFH" so I can continue writing this without cringing. By the end of this review, it'll probably be no more.

I have some serious UFH. So much so I probably need to get it checked out as it could be PCOS or something. But whatever. Until then, shaving my face like a dude just isn't cutting it. I needed to step up the game. Enter: Yuki.

Yuki is such a pleasure to be around, I always feel like I'm at home when I go for my treatments. I must say, considering you're getting a needle repeatedly poked into your skin in a pretty concentrated area for an hour at a time, an electrolysis session under her care is one of the most relaxing things ever. And I have a low pain tolerance to boot. Yuki is a certified electrogist even--I did my research, and in NYC, a CPE license is NOT mandated here. So bonus points for her. She is incredibly clean, professional, fast (uses two hands instead of one!), accurate and super friendly. I often wonder if she is a figment of my imagination...

On top of (or under, rather) my ungodly UFH lies my incredibly sensitive skin. Yet, with Yuki, even if my skin likes to rebel a little, it cools down so much faster than it ever had for me when I got electrolysis previously. It takes less than a day (or a few hours even!) for my skin to return to a hair-free state of normalcy. Yuki also prices her sessions by time and not body part, so the fabulous flat rates are something to take advantage of. I. Love. It.

My only problem? Once all of my unwanted body hair is gone forever (including the terrible, horrible, no good bad UFH), I won't be able to get electrolysis done anymore. Boo.

Until then, I'm going to enjoy the journey to hairless bliss and euphoria.

YUKI is  so sweet, gentle, extremely skilled, VERY clean and fast..
She made me feel totally comfortable, and the results have been amazing!
I had treatment on my face and underarms.
I have very sensitive skin, but that evening, I had no residual redness or irritation.
I used to get bumps on my underarms after shaving daily and now I am totally blissfully bump free and looking great so far!

Yuki totally knows what she is doing and is super fast with her work. She has a two-handed technique that makes her able to do more in one session than others. The only down side is she is super busy so it can be hard sometimes to get an appointment unless you schedule a month in advance. Once you're a regular, it's not hard to do and she has a new assistant now too. So yeah. I love Yuki!

I had my first treatment today with Yuki and it was wonderful. She worked one my chin and face & successfully removed many of the unwanted hairs. She realized I was a quiet consumer and made small talk but was having a nice conversation with the consumer before me. I am looking forward to going back and having other areas treated !

I have been thoroughly satisfied with treatments on my chin. Yuki is awesome and is so great at explaining the ins and outs of electrolysis. This has been my first experience and have been happy with the results. She's clean and she's fast! Highly recommend.

i think i'm gonna be addicted. i've gone twice and am VERY pleased with the results. i haven't had other hair removal done before so can't compare but yuki is really nice and professional and the space is very clean.  you'll feel a pinching feeling each time the needle goes in the follicle and might experience some redness for a couple hours but it's harmless.  i think i'm 5lbs lighter now from all the missing hair, haha!
