My favorite hole in the wall Thai place in the area! Orders of $15 or more come with a free order of crab rangoon and delivery usually comes within 30 minutes of ordering!
I tend to eat the same thing repeatedly, if I really like it, so I always end up getting Pad See Eiw and a Philly roll and Shrimp Tempura roll. The Pad See Eiw is yummy and comes in a large portion! The rolls are average but still delicious, would be better if they weren't so stingy with the fish!
I love you, New Thai Kitchen! -

We went here with a http://restaurant.com certificate. It was $25 off, and you had to spend $35. Spending that much at this restaurant was difficult, because the dishes were inexpensive, but, we managed.
First plus, this place is BYOB and had no corkage fee, which I always like.
First negative, this place has zero atmosphere. It had quite a few tables, but this is totally more of a delivery/pick up place. Keep that in mind.
We ordered:
Crab rangoons: I think you got 6 for $4.95. They were OK, but not very crab-y.
Spring rolls: These were quite tasty and the tamarin sauce for dipping was very good.
Sushi rolls: I cant even remember the specific rolls we ordered, but they were not memorable. Cheap, but nothing out of the ordinary and the rolls easily fell apart.
Pad Se Ewe: It was OK. Kinda sweet, a little heavy, and the portion size was decent, but not as huge as other yelpers had me believing.
Pad Woon Sen: Oddly, this dish was very light in contrast to the pad se ewe. Good flavor.
Banana dumplings (for dessert): Never had these before, but it was good. Subtle banana taste and served piping hot.
Service was spotty. We weren't given soy sauce with our sushi, or chili sauce with our food. Also, when we took out the http://restaurant.com certificate, the woman became clearly upset. Reactions like that always bother me, because why offer a deal if you get upset about it?
While I could see this becoming our thai pick up joint if we lived closer, I don't think we'll go the extra mile to get there. We probably won't be back. -

3 1/2 Stars
We're pretty predictably when it comes to ordering Thai food and we always hit up Cozy Noodle to get our fix (if you haven't been, drop everything that you're doing and get over there immediately). But after our first bottle of wine we were feeling "adventurous" and ordered from someplace new. New Thai Kitchen turned out to be a solid joint. We picked up (because I don't believe in paying a $3 delivery charge) and ordered the following:
Crab Rangoon ($4.25) - good, not great
Tom Kha Soup ($3.50) - not bad, probably wouldn't order this again
Pad Thai ($7.25) - again not the best I've had but solid and a HUGE portion
Pad Siew ($7.25) - this dish was great, some of the best Pad Siew I've had and again a HUGE portion
Green Curry ($7.95) - Very good, definitely had some heat
Our total bill was $33 which makes this place a great deal, and we definitely had leftovers. Which I'm eating now for breakfast. -

Awful.
Just got my order after an hour long wait at 6pm on a Tuesday.
Paid $7 for the beef salad, and it's TINY. I thought that for $7, it would at least come with rice. It's also super sweet. I actually just drained it and made my own fish sauce and lime juice dressing (which is what would traditionally be used). I can't even begin to explain what a complete rip off this salad is.
Got Pad Thai, which was completely tasteless, and has NO sauce on it at all, just noodles, chicken, and peanuts. That's it!
Salmon nigiri was mostly rice and super thinly sliced salmon.
Shrimp Tempura roll is decent, but again waaaay too much rice.
I got the combo appetizer, and the "eggrolls" are a sad fried twist of dough with little to nothing inside, and completely tasteless, and the fried shu mai tastes super fishy.
One last complaint here. I'm Thai, and being Thai, I know that we eat rice with every single meal. After spending $43 on this order that I probably won't even eat, they didn't even bother to send ANY RICE with it... Are you KIDDING ME?
I'll never order from here again. -

New management, and remodeled so it no longer looks like a free clinic. Hawaiian spring rolls are no longer on the menu, but when I asked, the cook lit up and said "oh, I can do that!"
Good (for low end), cheap, fresh, consistent. -

I had a serious Orange Chicken craving to fulfill, but was at a friend's in Uptown and needed suggestions... and FAST! It seemed every restaurant we chose was closed for the Labor Day holiday, so we logged into GrubHub, ran a search, and found Thai Kitchen.
And this place was great. Why?
-Something for everyone. The menu was fairly extensive but had all the staples you'd expect at a Thai restaurant.
-Orange Chicken. Oh wait... not JUST Orange Chicken, but SESAME Orange Chicken. Bonus points for putting the sauce on the side. I hate soggy breaded chicken.
-Fast delivery. It was only about 25 minutes from hitting the order button to the order being at our door.
-Cheap. Completely stuffed for under $10 (minus delivery, but I am sure I could have walked/driven to pick it up to save a few bucks).
One negative I need to mention is the excessive packaging of their food. Everything came in it's own separate container (chicken in one, sauce in another, rice in one more, etc.), which is great for those who get the ickies about their food touching, but it represents a pretty substantial carbon footprint that would make an environmentalist go crazy.
That aside, I am a fan and I'll be ordering again soon. After reading all of the less than savory reviews, I am wondering if we all ordered from the same place.Listed in: My Lil Asian Sensations!

I was hungry and I literally drove past Thai Kitchen. It looked nice enough, so I parked and stopped in. I ordered the Tom Kha and Pad Woon Sen to go. The soup was absolutely awful. It was unusually sweet and there was a thick layer of oil on the top of it. like the soup had separated. I would not recommend it.
However, the Pad Wood Sen was literally some of the best I've tasted. The noodles weren't clumped up together and it was very flavorful. I'd go just for this, and I'm certain willing to try other dishes. -

I ordered take-out from this place tonight since it's so close to my new place. Online ordering was really easy through GrubHub, and it arrived in only 20 minutes!
The Crab Rangoons were top-notch, easily in the running for best in Chicago (so far.) The Tom Yum soup was equally as excellent, and I started to think that I may have found my new favorite Thai restaurant.
Then I got to the Pad Thai. It was so bland that I had to pour some Tom Yum on it to liven it up. Next time I will specify that I'd like it spicy. I will definitely have to drop by and eat in for the full review.Listed in: Thai One On

So ok, Thai Kitchen isn't a bad place to eat, neither is is dirty or the service offensive, but the whole experience was kind of dissapointing. From earlier reviews there was mentioned a redeeming quality to this Irving Park dive, and I would wish the best for local business.
We had to ask the server to leave the water pitcher at our table, and she filled it up with so much ice everytime we were constantly asking for pitcher fill-ups. Less ice, more water!
The crab rangoons were a let down, small, hard, and so deceptively hot that the rest of my meal was partly ruined because my tongue was numb from the heat. I've had better crab rangoons at a Chinese Buffet in Salt Lake City. You'd think there would be a better place in Chicago? Sorry Robert S., I can't believe this is a Chicago Best!
The curry was good especially the one that we ordered spicy. Curries come with choice of meat or Tofu. We had Green Tofu, Yellow Chicken, and Red Pork. All were very delicious although I've still had better at Thai Siam in Salt Lake City. Maybe I deserve to go to more Thai restaurants in town. Any suggestions? -

I found this restaurant via GrubHub, and it is decidedly some of the best Thai I have had in quite some time. My dinner began with Spring Rolls followed by Tom Kha soup. The Spring Rolls, while average, could not compare to the excellent soup. It is some of the best Tom Kha I have had in quite some time, and perfectly spiced. For dinner, I enjoyed Pad See-Eiw with tofu. Again, another excellent choice, which I highly recommend.
My order was taken by telephone; although a bad connection tried to stymie this process, the order taker was thorough and verified, twice, all the details of my order and delivery address. Delivery (a $2 surcharge) was promised within forty-five minutes, but took no more than thirty minutes. Dinner, delivery, and tip costs me one Benjamin Franklin ($20), and was well worth it. I'll have left-overs for tomorrow's late-night snack.
I recommend Thai Kitchen Restaurant for delivery and look forward to trying more delicious dishes off their menu, soon. -

The weather still isn't warm enough for me to venture... nor does my student loans want me to splurge on sushi... bastards.
I had a serving of nearly half of all the maki they ordered, and to my delight... yes, half. What, I was hungry... Anyways, to my delight - delish. Nothing was awkward or experimental. Simple, what I expected, with plenty of wasabi and soy sauce to go with it. I think I have enough disposable chopsticks to last me a month...
I also ordered their Chicken Sesame which was huge in serving, and absolutely delicious.
This little asian boy has the metabolism of a horse.
Speedy delivery (only 20 minutes!), favorable prices, and satisfaction to the ol' belly. Give this place a shot. I was weary reading prior reviews but I was relieved I didn't end up finding this place a waste of money.Listed in: Chopsticks and Chicago

Rating for Pickup
Food is fast, and they have a good selection of pop. The Pad Thai hits all the comfort zones, and am working down the list of noodle dishes. I'm normally not going to try something new unless I'm confident I'll get something great, and I've found some new favorites here. Definitely cheap and filling. The lunch special is a steal. All in all, a great palce to have across the street.Listed in: Fast Food Standbys

Great selection of Thai and Japanese cusine.
We ordered the following for three people -
Lard Nar - Beef. Plentiful and the gravy was yummy. However, I needed it spicy, and had to ask the server for hot sauce since it wasn't on the table.
3 maki rolls - All were good and HUGE. Also, they were all accompanied with pickled ginger, seawood (which was nice) and some radish.
Sashimi pieces - Once again, big cut pieces and yummy as usual.
Definately would come again if you want cheap eats and quality food!!! :D The only reason I negated one star is due to the parking. When there is a Cubs game, it could be nightmare-ish, other wise the food itself was good. -

Ate in for lunch on a Saturday. The food came out fast, but was unimpressive. The crab rangoons were no better than fried wontons from a Chinese buffet in the burbs. We ordered three curries (green, yellow, and red) which--though they all had delicious sauces--tasted as though frozen vegetables had been added to them moments before being served. Bland, boring, unmixed flavors.
We had to repeatedly ask for water. The bill was tallied up incorrectly (a few dollars more in their favor, though I believe it was an unintentional mistake), and the restaurant itself was unusually hot.
Go somewhere else, unless you're Ned Flanders trying Thai food for the first time. -

Working late one night, I decided to order online. The estimated delivery was an hour, so I was a little annoyed from the start. But then it arrived not more than 20 minutes later, I ordered iced tea which is amazing, and the pad thai was also very good compared to some restaurants I've been to. I also ordered crab rangoon and it was also very good. Everything was well prepared, and they even remembered napkins.

if my stomach could cry, this is the place to make it do just that. i ordered online through grubhub and was severely disappointed in the food.
the pad thai was awful. no sauce, barely any taste to it at all.
fried tofu came with the usual sauce (sweet and sour kinda with peanuts) but the sauce tasted fuuunky. so sad.
and the baby egg rolls? is that what those are? just...weird. very weird.
i ordered from here because i figured that a place called "thai kitchen" wouldn't be a disappointment for pad thai. so not the case. -

I've actually never been in here (my roommate always picks up the food) but I must say it is yummy. I always get the Pad Siew and the Crab Rangoon. I may be a bit stuck in my ways but once you know what you like I don't see anything wrong with sticking to it.
I don't think I've ever had to pay for the crab rangoon as they constantly accept our same coupons over and over again! -

After calling three other local places... I stared at Thai Kitchen's online menu for about half an hour before finally placing a call for lunch (to go).
I couldn't decide on what I wanted, to be honest. Nothing on the menu really stood out to me. I was torn between ordering Spicy porkchop (because I love eggplant) or the BBQ Beef Short Ribs, but I ultimately went with the the Stir-Fry Chicken Teriyaki. I also ordered Thai Iced Tea.
I was pleasantly surprised when my food came with a lot of (free) extras. It came with a veggie eggroll, which was good but I would have preferred it with shrimp or other meat. It also came with "soup" which was more like boiled vegetables. I also got a cup of canteloupe.
Before I forget, if you ever order Thai Iced Tea anywhere, I'd recommend never getting it with ice, or at least tell them to go easy on the ice. My cup was filled to the top with ice cubes, which skimps out on the drink. Anyway, on to the food... the chicken was alright. I never know what "teriyaki" means here in Chicago (I am so used to teriyaki being more of a glazed, heavy sauce)... but this was very soupy. The flavors were still good, but I probably wouldn't call it teriyaki.
On that note, I'd probably come back here once in a blue moon. I just saw on the hard-copy menu they have lunch specials for $5.95, mostly the pad-meals (pad thai, pad siew, etc), which I didn't see on their website menu. -

Finding this place was such a score.
I've dined in once, and ordered take-out several times. The restaurant lacks any semblance of a decent atmosphere, however (it's kind of like a high school teacher's lounge), and the "waitress" (I think she's just the owner) is also answering phones, packing up take-out orders, and cashing out customers. Not that the service was slow. We were the only people in there for lunch on a weekday.
The food here is definitely more on the homestyle-y side. It tastes like your Thai friend's mother made it, and consequently you may find a few bits of inedible herbs, bay leaves, sugarcane, etc. in your soup/fried rice/noodles. I usually end up with a small pile of bits at the bottom of my bowl of Tom Yum.
The crab rangoon are excellent - best I've had in Chicago - and the shumai aren't too bad either.
The curries are thick and spicy, with just the right amount of everything, and the tofu is cooked perfectly. Noodle dishes are equally excellent.
I'd definitely steer clear, however, of the fried rice dishes. I ordered the curry fried rice and found it to be bland, boring, and not spicy at all. I had leftovers that I eventually just threw out. -

Alright you guys, quit ripping this humble place to shreds. Ever since the management changed over a year and a half ago, Thai Kitchen has been putting out some pretty great food to satisfy anyone's take-out craving.
The curries here are served very thick, and rich, which you don't find elsewhere, and the noodle dishes are abundant. Very authentic flavors and colorful items. Service, at times, can be impaired by the language barrier, but it's definitley a friendly and informal family-owned type of atmosphere. Excellent quality take-out. -

This grew on me after like.. an hour in the fridge. But overall average. I looove that it has mushrooms, and the spice is nice. But that's all there is. spice. No other discernible flavor, maybe a mild almost-artificial tasting sweetness accompanied by weak tomatoes. Tofu was cubed and stir-fried, but not enough. i could still see the grid marks on it. -

When my roommate and I moved to Chicago a few months ago, the first time we got take out was from Thai Kitchen. We both, I think, had fairly high expectations. I was, at least, expecting it to be flavorful, and a little spicy. Total let down. The food was bland, boring, and overpriced for what I got. Sure, our food was delivered much faster than expected, but I wasn't necessarily happy with it. It's so close to me that I wish the food was good. Maybe if you order it spicy it's worth getting.

I've been eyeing this place for a while now as I've recently moved into the area, and finally tried delivery tonight. AWESOME quality and quantity of food, for a great price. I got the spicy tofu cashew and pad kee mao with chicken. Perfect blend of spicy and sweet flavors, not to mention a bunch of free watermelon slices (de-seeded) and a free order of crab rangoon. All for $17.50 delivered. Will definitely be returning here soon.

I ordered chicken pad thai and it was good and huge (lunch for tomorrow for sure)! A little greasy, but not too bad. They gave me a few free delish crab rangoon and some kind of veggie broth soup that was pretty bland, but I appreciated it! The inside of the restaurant is small and quiet, almost like someone's house, but they probably get more carryout/delivery than dine-in anyway. Prices are pretty reasonable for the amount you get. Good stuff!

This is my go-to neigborhood Thai place. They have a good selection of noodles, and I tend to alternate between their Pad Thai, Pad Thai Woonsen(glass noodles instead) , and the Pad Kee Mao (very spicy but sometimes a bit too oily). Their appetizers are decent, and their seaweed salad is pretty good. They have sushi as well, but I have only been impressed by the vegetable rolls (specifically the sweet poptato tempura rolls and the avocado rolls). Prices are reasonable, and delivery is relatively quick. I've only eaten inside, as opposed to take-out, once...and that will probably be the last time. Small space, paper menus, kinda awkward vibe. It will contnue to be my fav local Thai take-out, though.

I was wondering around last night trying to find a Chinese or Thai place, and came across this place, the food was very reasonably priced and they give a huge amount. I got the Pad Kee Mao. Very good. They also threw in 3 Crab Rangoos for free...I was incredibly excited about that, as I love free! They Crab Rangooon was awesome, wish I had more! The only downfall for this place was it was kind of crummy inside and they had no air conditioning. But, since I wasn't planning on eating it there...it was fine. I'll be back next time I'm craving cheap/good Thai.

If negative stars were an option, I would rank this place -10. Food is terrible, customer service is lacking and a 15 year old manager? The place is very unwelcoming, bathroom is disgusting. NEVER again will I order from this place AGAIN

Best late night food ever! I don't hand out 5 stars unless a place really deserves it, but this is the best fast, cheap, greasy thai I've ever had. I ALWAYS get the tofu fried rice here... it's delicious. The sushi and rolls are pretty awesome for fast food too. They also throw in some great free stuff if you meet a certain price (and after a long Sunday Funday, we always do!). If you're looking for a good place to order some Thai from, this is your place!

This place deserves far more customers than it gets. I always get the pad kee mao with tofu, but friends have also enjoyed their pad thai and chinese dishes. The food is delicious and cheap. Portions are huge.
I recently stopped by Thai Kitchen after a four month hiatus - the owner Rose amazingly remembered me and my favorite order. The friendly staff and excellent food more than make up for the humble interior. Don't be scared off by the flourescent lighting and paneling! -

The good...ordered by phone and food was delivered right on schedule
The bad...ordered some sushi (salmon and tuna), only got salmon and it looked very "unfresh", I didn't even eat them...and I'm really not that picky..promise.
The mediocre: had 3 thai dishes amongst the dinner group, not great, not bad, just normal/blah.
If I were to get food from there again...which I won't...I would ONLY get thai and not sushi. -

**WARNING, UNDER NEW OWNERSHIP!! I can't begin to explain how disappointed I am. My go to Thai place was sold to new owners. I gave it a chance and wish that I didn't. The prices have increased and the food was almost inedible. Pad Thai had absolutely NO flavor and all the noodles were clumped together. I think I can make better pad thai... So sad, now I have to look for another Thai restaurant :(

What a plesant surprise, felt like some sushi and ordered from here online. The three maki rolls were big and fresh...very delicious. Ordered some Won ton soup for $4.50. It was HUGE, a quart of soup stocked full of chicken, shrimp and pork won tons (a little heavy on the garlic, but who doesn't like garlic?). The soup alone was enough for a meal. Great prices and quality food. I would recommend for sure!

HUMBLE OR NOT - STAY AWAY, SAVE YOURSELF SOME STRESS AND DISAPPOINTMENT!!! the process of actually getting food from this place was the biggest debacle of food delivery imaginable. if it weren't so infuriating, it could have been completely comical. the person who took our phone order (since special requests couldn't be entered online) could not comprehend english nor did she seem to understand that when one telephone voice finishes talking, the other party is supposed to answer (conversations FULL of "Can you hear me?"). it was about 20 minutes just to get the order in, then they hung up before it was confirmed, so that was another 10 minute call figuring out if it was confirmed and what the total was. when the food finally arrived (about an hour, as promised), we only got half of our orders. another 4-5 ridiculous phone calls, 2 more deliveries, and 1.5 hours more and we finally had all our food. we specifically chose this place because we wanted sweet sticky rice (banana here, but mango is out of season), but it was so disgusting no one could eat it.

I found my new favorite Thai place! Since I eat Thai about once a week religiously and even went to Thailand on my honeymoon, I consider myself to be somewhat qualified to rate this place as high as I do. Why? The food is awesome, and much more authentic than most places I've tried. Other people on here seem to have had issues with placing orders/delivery, etc, but for me, the food is what makes a place stand out. The Yum Woonsen (cold noodle salad with ground chicken and lime dressing), crab cakes, spring rolls, pad thai woonsen, all are excellent choices, and the tom yum soup is the BEST I've had in a long time outside of Thailand (for some reason, tom yum is the most important part of the meal for me, maybe because it's easy to screw up, and you have to have a really good, flavorful broth, to make it taste like heaven). We haven't had any problems with placing orders or deliver, and have never eaten in the restaurant. Judging only from delivery, people should really try this place out, it's pretty great..
