got 3 nights @ http://priceline.com for $75/night! can't beat that.

LOVED:
- asked if we could get a room w/ a view- got it!
- ran out of toothpaste 2x- they brought us some colgate packets w/in 10 mins
- clogged the toilet (hey man, it happens!)- maintenance came w/in 5 mins
- went to garage, valet guy asked us what we needed, we said "cab to commander's palace." he ran out to canal st. to get us a cab w/in 30 seconds! give that boy $2 bunky!
- couple blocks away from bourban, but not that close, if you know what i mean.

there just happened to be a buffalo soldiers (black motorcycle gang) convention at the marriot that same weekend and that didn't effect service time at all.

yes, the bathrooms are teeny. i used to live in SF, i'm used to it.

We spent a night at this Marriott on our way back to Houston after a week in Florida.  My husband won the hotel on priceline for around $80, quite a deal compared to the $500 price tag listed on the inside of our hotel room door!  Parking was $20 I believe, which for New Orleans, isn't all that bad.

The guy that took our car wasn't all that friendly.  Same goes for the staff at the check-in desk.  We finally met a friendly staff member upon leaving.  We were going to have to wait about 25 minutes to get our car because the line was so backed up, but my mom-in-law is on crutches so a very friendly bellman made sure our car was pulled around right away.  Very nice!

Rooms are basic, if a bit small.  We requested a king, but they only had double rooms available, which I found odd since we checked in an hour early...  The bathroom was also small and the water pressure was a joke.  Our A/C also left much to be desired.  We turned it waaaaay down but I woke up hot off and on all night.

So the Marriott isn't all bad by any means.  There are some perks.  The crazy elevator system took some getting used to, but I think overall it  made things more efficient.  The lobby is decorated very nicely, and you can tell they put some major dollars into a the refurbishment.  There's also a bar on the 43rd floor (I think) that offers spectacular views of the city.  See my attached pics of the sunset!  The location is also decent, though I prefer a more centralized spot in the French Quarter.

I think this hotel is great for big conferences, and quick stops like we made in the Big Easy.  For a real New Orleans experience, I highly suggest one of the smaller boutique hotels in the French Quarter.  They might not all be as luxurious as the typical chain, but they have so much more character.  I highly recommend the Place D'Armes on St. Ann Street to anyone looking for the quintessential New Orleans hotel experience.

I was forced to stay here for a conference.  While the people here were exceedingly nice and polite, I didn't have a good experience.  Why?  I was attacked my spiders in my sleep.  I woke up in the morning and had nine huge welts on my legs and torso.  I'm highly allergic to insect bites.  To Marriott's credit they took the situation seriously and moved me to a new smaller room that had shower gel and HBO.  Whoopie.
Still, I get the heebejebees just thinking about all the creepy crawlies.

When planning to go away for a weekend in New Orleans, our group had just a few goals for our lodging: good location, clean and on the cheap. The Marriott was all of these. Since it was the official hotel of Voodoo Fest we got a cheaper rate of $129/night. The rooms were simple and clean and the beds were incredibly comfortable. We stayed on the 15th floor of the quarter tower and had a great view of Canal Street. Hotel was in a great location. We were just a block and a half south of Bourbon and a half block north of Decatur. The streetcar is an easy method of transport to/from the hotel to further destinations and at only a buck twenty five, a steal!

Pros: I stopped in here after my flight out of New Orleans was cancelled and I had to stay in the city for another night. The price they quoted me at the front desk matched their web site price and they gave me a corner room with gorgeous views of the river and city - very much appreciated! Seriously, that view made my stay. Little things like that from the front desk mean so much.

Also appreciated the 4 hours of free w-ifi in the lobby where I got some work done.

Bath and Body Works products in the bathrooms.

Nice business center with FedEx shipping in the lobby.

Starbucks also in lobby.

Beautiful updated outdoor swimming area. It was too cold for us to stay out there, but we walked around.. will be great in the sweltering summers.

Nice, big, fully furnished gym with free fresh fruit.

Cons: Realllly weak water pressure. It took longer than my average shower just to rinse off with that trickle of water. They have nice shower heads, though, and maybe that was a one-time problem.

Starbucks is way overpriced ($4.99 for grande vanilla latte - most expensive I've ever seen and I live in NYC) and seems to be Marriott owned as they are the company that showed up on my credit card receipt. That's the problem with being a captive audience.

The restaurant/bar in the main lobby area is crap. I had terrible chips/salsa/guac. At least it isn't overpriced. Just eat elsewhere at the many delicious restaurants in the area.

Overall - I'd definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone in the city for fun (Bourbon Street) or work (convention center).

The location of this hotel is very nice.  They are right in the middle of everything.  They really have the "look" of being a 4 or even 5 star place, but overall they just weren't able to live up to the vibe they are attempting to put out.

The rooms are very small, but some of them have some great views.   Water pressure was ok, but not great.  The bed's pillows were in need of replacement.

Here's where my complaints really start:  Everything within this hotel is overpriced, even beyond the usual hotel prices.  Stay away from the restaurant 5 Fifty 5.  The food was horrific and the prices mind boggling for what we received.  The bar looks nice, very modern, but really falls short.  Also, we paid almost as much for parking as we did for the room for the four nights were at Marriott.

They are probably right at the 4 star rating, but need to improve their restaurant, Starbucks, bar, and parking.

I never had to pay for the room, so I'm not sure what it would've taken from my wallet, but I enjoyed the place.

The room was excellent. Couch with pull-out bed. Full kitchen. Spacious bathroom, comfortable bed. The bed on the pull-out couch was the most comfortable wannabe bed I've ever slept on. Swear to Louis Armstrong.

The wi-fi was good. No complaints. I just felt like we were all alone on our floor. Which was nice, but creepy.

Combining business with pleasure in The Big Easy?  The Marriott New Orleans is a good choice.

Right next to the French Quarter, you can be on Bourbon Street in a couple of minutes, and the Mardi Gras parades pass right by the hotel.  We arrived just in time for a parade and started our visit by catching beads from a passing float.  A festive way to start experiencing New Orleans!

The rooms are a bit on the small side but plenty comfortable.  The bathrooms are really small and there were no towel racks except in the shower which was a bit inconvenient, but minor.

Really the only thing that was a problem was the internet which was wired not wireless, so only one person could use it at a time AND it was $14.95 per day, which just really bugs me.  You really ought to be able to get internet access for free everywhere.

Room service is somewhat leisurely in its arrival, but we found that laid back approach to service in a lot of places in NO, so we learned to just adapt to it and not be so uptight.

There is a nice bar and lounge area off the lobby which is nice for late evening drinks and conversation.

For the business traveler there is also an especially good business center provided by FedEx Office right in the hotel.  The convention center is within walking distance though a bit more than you might want to walk after a day on your feet, but most conventions are going to have buses that run back and forth to the hotels anyway, or barring that it is a quick cab ride.  Better to be more convenient to the French Quarter than the convention center in my view!

We just visited New Orleans for the first time last month and having never been there, we decided to pick a well known hotel chain.  We were not dissapointed with our choice.  It was within walking distance of everything important in and around the French Quarter, but it was just removed enough to feel like we were getting away from the hustle and bustle at the end of the night (or in the middle of the day if some down time was needed).  The pool area is nice, but it is between two buildings so it's not in the sunshine for the entire day (which some would see as a  pro).

It was clean, cool, and comfortable - which is all I ask for when I'm traveling!

I stayed there for one saturday night while in town for a company christmas party.  The location is perfect.  Only a few blocks to Bourbon, the mall, places to eat, everything.  The hotel was very nice inside.  Rooms were clean, but small.  I didnt mind though.  I dont know the cost since it was paid for by my company, so I cant rate it among costs.  I would guess that if its more than $200 a night, then i wouldn't  pay it.  My girlfriend had a problem with the restaurant downstairs.  She didnt get along with a waitress.

Hotel concierge service was great.  I forgot toothpaste and one of them gave me a couple free travel tubes for the night.

Bed was very comfortable, soft, big...

I stayed here during a Sugar Bowl event, which I did not know about!  The hotel was packed! It's a typical four star hotel... nice rooms, a bit small... but for New Orleans if your in your room, what the hell are you doing there!!!! Walk the streets and see the sights!

Close to the French Quarters, French Market, Burbon Street, restaurants and shopping area!

The staff was friendly even though they were inundated by guest!  Parking fee's are pretty much the same through out the city during special events...  Expensive, $27 - $30 a night!

Hotel elevators were interesting... you have to enter the floor your staying in and it will tell you what elevator to use.

Would stay here again... if Hotel Dauphine Orleans is not available.... or if you don't want to experience ghost... (read my review on Hotel Dauphine)...

I am so glad I wasn't the one paying for this hotel. It was SO expensive. Because I was there for a conference, my university picked it up. My conference rate was around $280 a night, but the posted rate on my room was around $580. Seriously. I was unable to get a room with one bed, so my room had two doubles. I left my clothes on top of the extra bed. I thought about sleeping in a different bed each night.

So, things I disliked about this hotel:
1. Internet access for $11-12 per day, although you can go to the 1st floor for free access. My room was on the 22nd, so this was a pain.
2. My room was right next to the elevator. The elevators are odd programmable ones that beeped and booped loudly 24 hours a day. I couldn't switch rooms because the hotel was full of conference goers. I am the world's lightest sleeper. Like... I kept tuning the clock radio to AM stations to try to create white noise.
3. No matter where I put the towels according to the "Save our Earth" directions they were replaced daily. Everything in the room was replaced daily, including the complementary toiletries (I had only used the bar of soap once!) I wound up with 4 sets of shampoo and conditioner.
4. The shower water pressure wasn't great and the shower head fell off a couple of times.
5. How exactly are those elevators more efficient (you'll see if you stay there)? I think they were overloaded with the huge conference.

Things I liked:
1. The view- incredible view of the Mississippi and downtown. I spent a lot of time looking out that window
2. Delicious orange ginger Bath and Bodyworks products in hotel room. My husband loves those, so I brought him the 3 million bottles the hotel staff gave me.
3. Comfortable bed and thermostat in room. Silent climate control, if you enjoy hearing the elevator.
4. Starbucks in the lobby- for a conference goer in a rush, quick breakfast to go is essential.
5. Friendly staff!
6. Amazing desert in the downstairs lounge. I recommend the dueling souffles.

Whatever you do, if you are forced to eat in the in-house restaurant do not order the butternut squash soup. It's as sweet as maple syrup. None of us could eat it.

I'd love to tell you about the hotel and how fabulous it is, but I can't remember it.  What I do remember is having a Jazz Brunch at the restaurant on the top floor of the hotel.  There was a view of the crescent in the Mississippi River.  It was incredible.

I've never seen such a spread - boiled crab legs, omelettes to order, fruits, vegetables, pastries, olives, boiled shrimp, bananas foster... I could literally go on an on.  Everything was delicious.  I was horribly uncomfortable after stuffing my face, but completely satisfied.

One of my life's dreams is to one day return to that restaurant.

P.S. The hostess totally seated us without a reservation because my husband greased her a $20.

Stayed here dozens of times and always get what's expected from this quality hotel.  And I always get a great discount by booking on hotwire or priceline where they sell rooms cheap ($61/nt on my next visit in Sept).  I've never had a drink at their bar or bite to eat at their restaurant because New Oleans has too many other great places to eat and drink.

It kills me to read reviews of hotels in New Orleans where people base their review on the hotel's food or cost of parking.   Why would someone eat at the hotel restaurant when there are so many better choices nearby.  And every hotel in the French Quarters area is going to charge $25 - 35 a day to park.  You aren't staying in the subburbs folks.   If you don't want to pay that, park in the 716 Iberville garage (next to Acme) for $20 ($15 with http://neworleansonlin... coupon) or in one of the self-park lots, or free parking on the streets in the CBD on weekends.  There are only two hotels in the Quarters with free limited parking but the room prices are usually much higher (St. Pierre and Provential) .
And I love the hot tub and sauna which it seems most people don't take advantage of.  It's great after walking so much.  And the hightech elevators are great once you figure out how to use them (they did confuse me initially).

Love the room views, location and value here.  Great lobby for free wifi while having my Starbucks bold roast after the coffee in the room is gone.

I did not stay here in the Marriott during my trip to NO, but I had visited a number of times, mainly because this is where the Warriors stayed. My boyfriend and friends would come here daily wanting to see our team and to pick up the essentials for the game like Ti leaves. This is where everything happened (and in the Superdome, of course.) and to have the "magic" and "wholeness" abruptly end after the Sugar Bowl, felt empty. It was good while it lasted.

I am sure this is a very nice hotel to stay at, the lobby was very nice and was always happenin'.

While this isn't the nicest hotel in NOLA, it is certainly nice enough, featuring recently renovated rooms with comfy beds.  The location is perfect, with the French Quarter, Convention Center, Riverwalk, restaurants, and the Superdome nearby.  The lobby is very nice, with a full service bar with plenty of seats and tables and a gift shop.  This hotel also has plenty of meeting rooms and is great for conventions.  Overall, this is a pretty good hotel.

My husband had a conference at the Marriott and we spent four nights here.

I had read that the rooms were small.  There was only one chair and ottoman, plus a desk chair and think the seating was designed more for one person than a couple.   Not much space to put things.  The TV and a tray with the ice bucket took up most of the top of the dresser.

The  bed was comfortable and the room was clean.  The halls were quiet and couldn't hear people walking by our room.   It took a while for maid service.  I left at 8 AM one morning and they didn't come to clean the room until almost 2 PM.

The room lacked outlets and there was a outlet strip on one side of the bed and a lot of  cords hanging behind the desk.   They really should add more outlets so it looks neater and doesn't look like they are overloading their outlets.  To use the coffee pot or iron, we ended up plugging it in the bathroom.  I wouldn't recommend making hot water for tea in the coffee pot - it tasted like coffee.  The ironing board in the room was very cheap and difficult to close.  There was no towel rack in the bathroom for a hand towel once it was being used and very little counter space.

We were interested in internet access for $15.95 a day but the cat5 cable was only about a foot long, which meant it could only be accessed from the desk area.  The hotel didn't have longer cables available.    We went down in the lobby for wireless access and when we signed on we discovered the first day was free.  Wish the hotel would have told us that when we checked in.

The elevators were very busy during certain times of the day when the conference had breaks or before one of their events and I ended up taking the stairs from the 12th floor to the lobby several times.  There was so many people in the lobby/bar with the conference that there was a low hum with everyone talking but luckily it was only for a short time before and after an off-site event.

This Marriott  has a laundry room on the fifth floor and it wasn't busy when I used it.  There's only one type of detergent and fabric softener available in the machine.

I would stay here again, but it wouldn't be my first choice.

There was a giant dark red stain on the mattress.  Best case it was mold.  I don't want to think what the worst case was.

Plus we found pubes in the towels.

We didn't stay at this Marriott but stopped by the bar in the hotel to kick up our feet and have a drink and take a lil' rest break from a long day of walking around the city.  After being here in N.O. for a few days I've made an observation that service here in general isn't as hospitable as I would imagine and sort of expect of "southern hospitality."  The servers can sometimes be too laid back and not very attentive.

Well, here at the hotel lobby bar we decided to order some mojitos to refresh our tired bodies and help it cool down.  Wow...they make a pretty damn good mojito here!  It was perfect...not too sweet with a good amount of fresh lime and mint to really make your tingle and feel refreshed!  Mojitos are $8 so not too bad considering it's a hotel bar.

I usually like Marriott hotels because they typically have good service and great facilities.  I recently went here for a conference and unfortunately the paint on the walls were chipping, lights were flickering, among other things.  It was weird only because I went to a conference that was for facilities folks and you figure that we'd be really critical of these details.

Anyway, the gym was okay - a little small, but I went during off hours, so it was no problem finding a treadmill or an elliptical.  The lobby bar was great... the front desk staff was very helpful.  The elevators are kinda weird though.  You have to push the number of the floor that you live on BEFORE getting on the elevator and it will assign you which elevator you should get on.  I've never seen this before!  It was a mess though because at times we waited over 15 minutes to get on an elevator to the 1st floor... and I'm not about to walk down 38 flights.

All in all... not bad, been to better.... but no big, big issues here.

I just stayed at this hotel for a conference, and have to disagree with the previous review.

From the moment I stepped to the registration desk, the staff was friendly and helpful. I forgot toothpaste (I never ever do that), and I went down to the concierge to see if they had any so I wouldn't have to buy a whole tube  and he was so nice to grab me a small sample size.

In addition, I wasn't sure if my meeting would go later than the check-out time ( we were scheduled until 11:30 but didn't want to go later and be charged and check out time was noon), so I called down to the front desk and asked for an extra half hour so I could freshen up  before I left for the airport and it was no problem.

I also appreciate the nice, full length mirror in the closet and the Bath and Body Works tolietries.  The shower wasn't spotless, but the granite countertops were nice. The beds were comfy, clean and warm.  I had a room on the 18th floor with a great view of Canal Street.

I have a beef with higher end hotels (as this Marriott is trying to be) that can't deliver basics, like hot water.  During my 3 night stay here, I had hot water in my shower only once.  Admittedly, it's a 40 story building, but you'd think that the engineers would have figured this out by now.

Coupled with a room that hadn't been serviced well (a layer of dust over the phone and candy wrappers on the floor doesn't count as clean in my book), my overall impression of this Marriott is that unless you're paying under $100 a night, it's not worth it.

There is one plus however. It's location on Canal Street makes it very easy to explore the nearby French Quarter.

This hotel is quite well-situated at the northern edge of the French Quarter, not far from Bourbon Street or the RiverWalk.  The rooms are standard Courtyard by Marriott rooms, though with fewer amenities than I've seen at others - no hot tub, fewer freebies in the room, no coffee maker, and so forth.  The room itself was quite pleasant, I was happy with the bed...not too hard or too soft.

I did not have a chance to experience 5 Fifty 5, their onsite restaurant, but I heard from other convention attendees that it was good.  Likewise for the bar in the lobby...I heard positive reviews but did not try it myself.  I did try the lobby Starbucks (full-service, very nice) and the gift shop (almost no service, few items had actual prices on them).

The meeting facilities were fine.  Water was always available in the major rooms, although not in the smaller rooms.  If you find yourself needing to go to a "Balcony" room, be aware that the 4th floor is only accessible from the River Tower, not the Quarter Tower.  If you are on the 3rd floor on the Quarter side, you might happen upon the staircase leading to the 4th floor, but it's better to save time and go straight to the elevators of the River side.  Also, several bathrooms near the breakout rooms were broken, and we had to go from the 4th floor Balcony rooms to the 2nd floor Exhibit Hall just to use the bathroom.

A special word of caution about the elevators.  The system is called Miconic 10, and I've never seen it elsewhere.  It's designed to move people more efficiently, and I'm sure it does move people FASTER, but it's LESS user-friendly than a standard elevator.  My biggest word of advice is: ALWAYS press your desired floor before boarding.  If you want to run and catch an elevator before it leaves your floor, you'd do better to wait...I tried this once but nobody was going to the lobby and I ended up on the 19th floor instead!  Once you are inside the elevator, there is NO WAY to control where it goes.  Press your floor BEFORE entering and go to the elevator the panel tells you to.  Also, people with mobility issues should press the little handicapped symbol first.  It will make sure your elevator is less crowded, and the doors will remain open longer.  Miconic 10 is well-suited to office buildings, but NOT hotels, so be warned!

3.5. No jacuzzi, and the sun doesn't always shine on the pool thanks to the two towers flanking on its sides (owned by the hotel, smart move, Mr. Marriott). The bar served good drinks. Sushi was okay. Hotel's catered food was plain - definitely not worth the price. Bedrooms, banquet halls, and meeting rooms were comfortable and nice.
