I went on based on what other Yelpers had to say and was not disappointed. New Metro has a stunning array of tile. I walked in goggle-eyed and left with solid choices in my hands.
I don't know much about tile but have very specific taste and a modest budget. Carmen, the designer, was a wonderful guide -- she gets my mid-century modern jones and together we came up with some fabulous looks, and quickly. Mike was also friendly and helpful.
If there's no parking on Alhambra Av, you're likely to find spaces in back and can enter the store from there. -

Hidden Gem!!!!!!!!!
First off...I love the Glass Tile here. I have driven past this place forever and until you buy a house and start a DIY project, you won't even think of spots like this. Don't fret, the market is even more affordable than ever before and you may be getting a house soon!
Mom and Pop business that kicks ass over HD, LOWES, Expo, etc. They are all about your tile needs here at New Metro. Yes, free donuts, coffee, tea and yes..they are super friendly. Place can get crowded, but you can find some very good deals or discontinued tile that are hella cheap. If you have a small project, stop by and check this place out. No one that I have recommended this place to, did not find what they needed. The last person I sent here, purchased her tile and medallion for her Foyer at NMT. Also, NMT was featured on one of those Renovation shows on DIY network. I think it was the Las Vegas Flip episode.
Plenty of street parking right on Alhambra Road. Right on the border between los angeles and alhambra, you next project has New Metro Tile written all over it. -

What an awesome find. The staff is very friendly and knowledgable. Adrian has helped me select tile for my bathroom and kitchen. They have a great selection and very good prices. I was able to get special order tiles within 2 days.

Helpful & friendly staff of this mom&pop shop! It was a bit hard to find the first time but glad I found it. I got my bath & accent tiles here after visiting all (seriously) other tile shop in the area.
The bad part was the "special" order of the accent tiles b/c stored at another warehouse, meaning pick-up 3-4 days later...and when I was ready to tile at the house, the accent pieces were diff colors b/c they were from diff batches, and so again, I went back to the store and asked for the "same" color tiles...that of course meant another 3 days + 1.5 hrs of a wait b/c there was traffic on the way back from the warehouse! So my bath's remodeling was pending "just" these tile pieces, which resulted in another wk before bathrm could be finished!
For all the hassles & inconveniences, they could've and should've given me a discount...at least to cover my cost of gas! -

I'm finishing a kitchen and bath remodel and figured I saved a big chunk of money going with these guys over the big box stores. If you purchase what's in their inventory, the cost is significantly less than the other places out there. Oh, and they have a lot of inventory. For example, I bought an Italian porcelain tile at 2.39/sq ft...similar Mohawk at another independent dealer-$4.99. I took my folks there to buy some tile for one of their rentals and they saved 50% over the same tile at HD.
The guys are all very helpful and will steer you clear of any color mismatches. They'll also help with the design. I was going to go with the traditional tile and one them showed me some subway tile and I was sold. Now my little shower looks cool and my wife is happy. So if you're in need of some ceramic, porcelain, glass or travertine, do your homework and then come to NMT and you'll probably end up buying your tile from them. Also a big plus is that they take all major credit cards. Woohoo. -

I came here a while back to get some tiles for my bathroom. I did not know what time they close, but i showed up like 10 minutes before and as soon as i walked in they practically pushed me back outside... So, my experience with this place was horrible- Very rude staff!

Love this place! They're really nice and friendly. They even have free donuts, water, coffee, and tea! And they don't hesitate to keep reminding you to grab food. Certainly not stingy with that. Also, they have a designer there that will help you with all sorts of color matching and will even help you draw out the plan. Awesome. They're also not annoying and don't try to sell you expensive products. They definitely will work with you to figure out cheaper options to fit your range. If you ask them, they wont hide where all the cheap stuff is. They won't even tell you to consider an option if they know it's out of your range. And if you do pick up something that's overpriced, they'll tell you right away that it's out of your budget and won't try to sell it.
