My video card was being RMA'd and I needed to sign into WoW for the Day of the Dead achievement yesterday..
Ok that sounds horribly dorky and it probably was.
The bf and I had first gone to this place I remembered from 05 called web2zone, but it was closed.
One use of the Yelp iPhone app and I found this little gem.
Pros:
Only 2 bucks for an hour of playtime
Cons: see if you can actually play ! For the first 30-40 minutes we both spent our time lowering the default WoW settings on the machines because they would freeze and crash at the loading screen.
I managed to get 2 blue screens on two different computers where it looked like I was overheating whatever nvidia card was in place at the moment.
We finally got in. I managed to get the recipe for whatever bread they had learned right before time was up and the terminal logged us off.
The other people in there seemed to enjoy whatever games they were playing so I guess it's good for other things!
As a note, if you want to play WoW on terminals 1,2 or 5 you should set it to windowed mode, put allllll the video settings down and pray.
Bonus was that they sold soda in the place and had the numbers to many of the restaurants in Chinese on the wall.
It smelled of food and cigarette smoke. Still, it was definitely a lifesaver for achievement junkies like us. That's why it gets 2 stars instead of one.
Second bonus? Really close to Vanessa's & Prosperity Dumplings.
Love playing Counter-Strike? How about Starcraft or Warcraft? No matter the PC game, chances are it can be found here. It may be an "internet" cafe, but I am completely convinced 90% of the people here are participating in what gaming junkies would consider a giant LAN party. Simply put, New Hunter is the Chinatown sanctuary of for a gaming frag party.
The computers here are pretty decent, but have the feel of an overused public terminal. The keyboards have all sorts of junk in them and the mouse pads / buttons are so worn out, any sense of grip is nonexistent. I'm told they tend to update their computers pretty often, so I suppose this is a perk for the average frequent visitor.
Most of the folks here will be in school or just really young looking. Thus, anyone not within that demographic will likely stick out like a sore thumb. Prices won't break the bank at all, which is probably why so many youngins can hang out here all day. And like the rest of Chinatown, it's cash only.
