Pretty good place for a Cantonese dinner.

Been here a few times. It's a pretty large wide open seating area, with lots of variety of Chinese food. We got the fish, lobster, ma po tofu, duck, and mayo shrimp. Pretty good quality- not amazing, like Toronto, but pretty good.

If you're looking for a place to have a good dinner, definitely stop by here. The service kind of sucks- the waiters weren't as attentive as they should of been, and we had to keep asking them for plates, cups, etcera, and they were rather slow in getting the items that we wanted. But....that's just service, I suppose. On the food level, it was pretty good!

I've been coming here for years now, but the wait time has gotten out of hand! This would've been a 3-star for me. But when I ask how long the wait will be and I'm told it's going to be 30min, I expect it to be relatively that long of a wait (willingly to accept a plus/minus 10min difference). So when I'm not shown to a table until 75 minutes later, my tummy is not a happy camper. *angry face*

If you don't mind the wait, then this is a good place to get the push-cart experience of dim sum. There are a variety of choices: from your standard har gow and shu mai to some dishes that might be a bit daring for some, congealed pig's blood and chicken feet.

Payment: credit card accepted w/a minimum of $30+ purchase. Otherwise, cash =(

I love coming here for dim sum on the weekends!  Its the only place I'm familiar with around the area, but I haven't found another spot b/c I'm completely satisfied coming to New Capital.

Every weekend its packed w/ people, majority of them Asian (you know what that means, they have good food!).  Come early to beat the crowd - you'll have to wait for a table to open up.  They have fresh seafood (seen in the front of the restaurant).  Right now they're having a deal on lobster and crab.  Not sure if its still going on, but the crab I saw in the tank was HUGE! (and kind of scary looking).

Tea is free!  Waiters are attentive.  I love everything I've tried here... I just wish I knew some of their names instead of always asking them to open the lids.  I've always had a good time here with friends.  Most of all, you're able to hang out and talk for a little even if you're not eating & just enjoying some hot tea.  Its nice not to feel rushed.  Plus, the more I linger, the more I'll make some more room for dim sum!  Our bill has never been outrageous either.

Side Note:  Why is it that at every Asian shopping or restaurant plaza, the parking spots are super narrow?!  It makes me nervous to have other people parking so close to my car, lol.  Sometimes its difficult to find parking here, but its not if you come at certain times.

Just a quick update. I'm knocking down 1 a star. Bringing my review to 2. stars.
I still love the food. Just not the service.

Why you ask?? Well, thanks to a LAZY Rude ASS waiter. I don't expect good service from this place. Been here too many times. So, I already know what to expect. But this guy was just a jerk.

So, all this is because our Shrimp rolls were ice cold (we just got it from the cart) I politely waved down our waiter.  I told him that our rolls were ice cold & asked if he could warm up our shrimp rolls.

    This was our conversation:

Me: "Can you warm up our shrimp rolls. It's really ice cold."
Waiter: "Why? It's not suppose to be hot. Just a little warm inside. Plus we don't have time to make you a new one."
Me: "It's ice cold. I don't need new ones. Can you pls. microwave it for me??"
    Waiter: "Silent blank stare".
Me." Uh... So you don't want to heat this up for me?"
    Waiter:" NO."
    Me. "ok".

And he walked way and never went back to our table. I wasn't upset or anything. I guess I've never had a waiter or waitress refuse to heat up my food even though I got it cold. Hm....?? I was kinda shocked.  Anyhow,  there was no point for me to complain. I already had something in mind.

So, after we paid for our bill, I went up to one of the waitresses (she always finds me ha gow when the carts aren't around) and told her that I didn't like our waiter and gave all the tip to her and left nothing on the table.

With relatives in town for the holidays, I'm usually out voted when it come to places to eat.  They wanted old school dim sum the other day.  That's the type where ladies push carts around the restaurant and you can peek and poke at the food (just kidding, don't poke the food!)  New Capital is the only old school restaurant in my area so off we went.

First, I prefer ordering my dim sum from a picture menu and they bring it to your table as soon as it's cooked.  I don't like this old school cart pushing business.  You are not guaranteed to get everything you want because that certain cart may never come your way.  Worse, for carts that carry popular items, all the good stuff are gone by the time the lady stops by because overzealous customers leave their table to jockey for dim sum.  It's worse than Black Friday at Walmart.

The quality of New Capital's dim sum was mostly mediocre.  The only standout was the coconut buns.  Soft, warm, chewy buns that are lightly glazed on top and stuffed with a sweet sticky coconut filling.  I'd get that again in a to go box.  There were quite a few subpar dishes.  Siu mai did not have fish roe on top.  Turnip cake was not cooked long enough for a crispy crust.  Chicken feet was tough.  Stewed tendons were sticky.  Ribs with black beans were bland.  I've definitely had better dim sum elsewhere.

Service was typical.  They kept the teapot full and cleared away empty dishes lightning fast.  The hostess, however, needs a new attitude.  She treated customers like they were a bother to her and had a scowl on her face the whole time while barking out numbers like a drill instructor.  Whoa, lighten up! I think an angry monkey has a sweeter disposition than that woman.

Dimsum might be good, but damn, did the service during the night take forever.

we were probably waiting for half an hour before we even got food. Then we waited for another half an hour to get food. The food is pretty authentic chinese food which is great because we had my moms friends from China visiting.

The dessert soup is really good. But other than that, the lobster was flavored well but hard to eat. We got so many dishes we ended up staying til about 10 to finishing eating, we still had loads of leftovers...

It's fun to eat in a big group, but the whole thing just reminded me of China and how they eat there.

This review is for dim sum.  There are a few places with better dim sum but I feel there is no better place at this price point which is why I give it 5 stars.  (plus I'm Asian and value is very important :))

My family makes the 35 minute drive then endures the 1 hour wait for dimsum whenever we can and it's well worth it.  If you go on a Sunday or holiday at peak time, expect to have to wait over an hour.

They charge a small sitting/tea fee per person.  Every dish is the same price at $2.19 on weekdays and $2.59 on weekends and holidays.  Aside from the amazing price, the food is incredibly varied in addition to being of high quality.  On any given day, you might see 2-3 different variations of chicken feet, 4 different kinds of chow fun, a dozen different kinds of dumplings, 2 kinds of pork spare ribs, every imaginable permutation of pork, shrimp, fish paste, dried scallop, tofu, tofu skin, egg plant, bell peppers, bitter melon, and sugar cane, whole carts of fried goodness, carts of every kind of dessert, servers carrying around fresh plates of stuffed eggplant or fried fish.

I recommend trying anything the servers are carrying around.  That food is usually fresh out of the kitchen and  a bit different from the typical dim sum fare.  It's also okay to try a little bit of everything and pack the rest to go.

How do you know it's good and as asian as it can be? They spelled their own name wrong. There are some crazy crowds during lunch time, but the numbers are constantly being called and for our group of 7, we only had to wait about 30 minutes at lunch hour.

It's dim sum - everything we had was good. They're pretty efficient and there's always some sort of cart nearby, maybe a good 10 minutes until the same cart comes back with more fresh dim sum.

Service is a bit slow when busy - we asked for a high chair three times before we finally got one. But for ~$3 per item, that's a pretty sweet deal!

I love dimsum.  But I feel as though the New Capital Seafood up north in San Gabriel is strangely better.

Here the service is good and the food is pretty good, too.  They even cut up the Chinese broccoli up for you too!

Usually I get a kick out of dimsum and feel all content, but I didn't get that feeling from here =/  Perhaps it was because I took a final and was tired before I came there!

This place is great for traditional dim sum, most servers don't speak English, Weekdays the dim sum is super cheap. Around $2 a plate. Its quality Chinese dim sum for cheap. The service is kind of disorganized. They push you through like cattle. It takes awhile for the carts to come around, but once they finally do come around it's worth the wait. I recommend the shrimp won tons and pork buns. If you want great dim sum for a cheap cost with not very good service, this is the place to go.

How is it possible that they are still sooooo crowded on a weekday? I came here for dim sum around 11am and ended up waiting for over a solid hour!! It makes me wonder...do people WORK anymore?! Or are they just loitering, like most typical aZns?!?!!

Nonetheless, the dim sum here remains awesome and one of the best in the area! They have a great variety and are still one of the few places left that has carts! Lately I've been kind of obsessed with the mango pudding, but I always get shu mai, egg tarts, taro footballs, bbq pork buns, egg rolls, etc. Man, I guess this place is worth the wait!!

Also, the dinner is awesome here! Recently, my boyfriend and I came here for a dinner of two. Yeah yeah, I know we're fatties because this is a typical family style Chinese restaurant, so most of the portions are way too big for a party of two. For less than $40, we were able to order half a roasted duck, vegetables, french style beef, rice, and tea...which gave us about 4 meals!

Oh New Capital, I love thee.

    PRO: Dericious

CON: So many people that knows about this place too, and they charge you $1.98
    for tea and sauces. WTF

I came here with a friend on a Saturday around 11am. This is my first time here, but my friend comes here all the time with his parents. When I first saw the place, there was A LOT of people waiting outside. Typical of a dim sum place to me since I'm Chinese, but there were a lot more people than I was use to. I even saw some white people in the crowd.

    PARKING:

When you get off the freeway, those spots near that entrance will already be taken. Go for the underground parking, ample amounts there. Also, this place seems to the most people, because there weren't any crowds in front of other restaurants.

    THE WAIT:

You get a number from the person in the front. Not in front of the crowd, but front of the restaurant. Good luck moving through the crowd.

They said it'll take an hour, but we were walking around for 15 minutes and they past our number. We were like WTF, you said an hour. We asked when we can get a table and the hostess didn't answer us directly. Anyways, it was 5 minutes later that we got a table.

    AMBIANCE:

LOL, this place is loud. Pretty typical really. But they seated us in our own separate room with a window view. There was another huge table in there, so we had like the kids table. Window is polarized so there wouldn't be any light reflection hitting your face while you eat.

    FOOD:

Everything is good here. My Chinese suck, so I can't give you names of what we got, but if you look at my photos (when i remembered to take a photo before eating it). BTW, get the chicken feet. If you think that is disgusting, well guess what hotdogs are made of.

    SERVICE:

I thought it was pretty good. Even though we were separated from the main area, these carts got to us just fine. I didn't speak Cantonese that well,  but they were patient when I tried to tell them what  we wanted.

    FINALS THOUGHTS:

This place is pretty far from my place, but I'll settle for dim sum places near Monterey Park. Still a good place though.

I will NEVER go back again.

When we arrived at our table, the waiter threw down the dishes for a speedy set up, which was OK. What was disturbing was when my sister reached over to move her plate closer to her, a pile of rice fell from below the plate. And almost every single one of our plates and teacups had something in it. (Not a fun game to play.) He didn't apologize. He simply took the plate to pick off the rice. He eventually had to bring us a new table cloth with new sets of dishes. Not a good way to start the meal.

For me, that does not necessarily bring down the rating of a restaurant if the food makes up for it. That could have been the case if we could GET any food. Warning! Warning! The 2nd table to the dining area is off limits to all food carts. I'm not sure what was going on, but they ALWAYS pushed their carts past us to go to tables around us. Maybe there was a specific course they had to go on, but by the time they got around to us, their carts were ALWAYS empty. We were pretty aggressive with flagging them down, but they always shook their heads and pointed to where they wanted to go, which was anywhere but our table.

When we asked a waiter if we could order vegetables he said we had to wait for the vegetable cart. WAIT?! But....but...then we'd never eat!!! He then said he would bring it to us but he'd have to charge us extra...It doesn't matter!!! We're starving!!!

Anyway, the food we eventually got was cold; probably from having to travel so long and so far before it got to us.

I wish I could give this restaurant 0 stars.

Ok well we waited for 40 minutes for our table. We ordered 5 things and ended paying only $16. Not bad. Food was really good. It was hot and delicious. Perfect for a cold day. Well Perfect for any day actually! Although the service was kinda slow. Took them 10 minutes to get me an iced water cup. Bleh.

My parent's favorite restaurant. So I always come here especially on holidays. We usually order the same thing each time.

    Dinner:

Shrimp with walnuts in this creamy sauce ( I think they call it there special sauce I'm not sure!); anyways these use to be my favorite but now it's way too creamy for me.  But the shrimp is so crispy and yummy. But if u take this to go the next day it doesn't taste as good anymore!

Lobster; they don't have much meat anymore. But my family usually gets it garlic fried? I'm not sure they also have steamed and drenched in sauce ( which I'm not sure what it is called I just remember it was drenched in sauce lol)

Tofu with seafood and beans in sauce; I like the tofu and the seafood. I like the sauce how they don't put mounds of it on.

This place gets BUSY on weekend mornings/ lunch. We waited a good 20-30 minutes. Was it worth it? I guess? Servers come around in carts constantly, with all sorts of dishes. I think they had about every type of dimsum out there. They give you this mustard sauce which I really liked. The only bad thing was, we couldn't even eat too much because it was too greasy. But the hot tea helped, and also we were pretty full with just 15$ for two. It's a huge restaurant and it gets pretty loud and hectic in there.

One of my favorite places to go to when I want dimsum. There's a good reason why this place is packed all the time. Their food is way better than most places out there. The only downside is that it's a long drive if you're not from the area.

Onto the food. Love their shrimp and bbq pork cheung fan, shrimp hargow, pork shumai, Chinese broccoli, steamed tofu with seafood, honey glazed bbq pork buns, sticky rice, fried eggrolls with seafood dipped with sweet mayo, and so much more.

It's definitely recommended to come here right when they open if you want to avoid waiting 40+ minutes to get a table.

I like this place for dim sum, for the area.  You can find better places in Monterey Park but I think this place is pretty good in the area.  I probably do not know how to spell it right but I love ordering the har gow, suh mai, chicken feet, and bok choy w/ oyster sauce.

I rate this place a four because service is not the best and sometimes the employees can be rude.  Also, the language barrier makes it difficult to order since many of them do not speak fluent English.

It was a Sunday morning. The plan: drop by Half and Half and grab dim sum at a location nearby. According to my iPhone's Yelp app, the only nearby restaurant was New Capital Seafood Restaurant located in the Diamond Plaza, 2nd floor.

First impression: There's a line with a 30 minute wait, so I assumed it must have been a good pick. As we waited, we passed by a fish tank that was lodged to the right of the restaurant entrance, tanks inside and out. "What the f*ck is that?" as I pointed to a dead fish encrusted with some form of white algae. "It's a diseased infected fish." GROOOOOSSSS! It looked unsanitary and something I would definitely not order here! Aren't these tank displays intended to make customers ooOOOo and ahhh? Instead, it made me "ewww" for the most part.....until I saw the spider crab...

After we were seated, they brought us tea....a dirty pot of tea. Dude, why didn't you wipe off all the water and tea leaves off of the tea pot? Already a bad sign.

We had the siu mai, har gow, bbq pork buns, chicken feet, and other dishes here and there that I cannot remember for the life of me. Everything was mediocre, but the siu mai was NASTY! It was sticky and the "wrapper" was odd; it was yellowish/greenish.

I personally really enjoy dim sum, but this place really did it for me. I don't think I can eat dim sum anytime soon anymore...

The cheapest dim sum I've gotten for this quality. Amazing. I think it's cheaper on the weekdays. So come on a weekday, because there's also no wait.

They have the usual you'd find anywhere (har gow's my fav), and a lot more as they've got quite a variety of selections and there's no short of dim sum carts. Expect to pay almost twice as much for dim sum in Chinese seafood restaurants in the OC. Service is typical Asian service, what can I say. I can't wait to come back, get my grub on, then afterwards go downstairs to Ten Ren's for a boba.

4 of us came at 5 PM on a Thursday night and the manager said to come back in 30 min in a wishy washy tone as when they will be ready to open. At 5:30, he told us to come back maybe in 20-30min. So we asked to get a number and waited... Once 6 o'clock rolled around, the manager let the crowd of guests waiting to be seated and told everyone to sit wherever they wanted. There was a huge rush swarming the tables. I would rate the service as 1 star but Yelp is more helpful for the food quality.

For dinner, we ordered pan fried oysters, Peking duck, ginger onion lobster, and cod with veggies. The pan fried oysters were delicious. There was a thin layer of crunch on the outside of the oyster and tender inside. The dish did not taste dry at all but in fact very moist. It was also garnished with lots of green onions. The Peking duck came in two plates. One of the plates displayed the crispy duck skin on a bed of shrimp chips with white buns on the rim of the plate. It also came with Chinese onion slivers, plum sauce and hoisin sauce. The other duck dish contains the meaty portions where the skin was taken from. I have to say, there was A LOT of meat to this dish. We had a hard time finishing it. The lobster dish was superb. about 98% of the tables all ordered the lobster. It was about a 2 pound lobster, totally diced and cracked, and perfectly cooked for us. The cod and veggies were pretty good but how do you compare to the other dishes.

My favorite dish was the Peking duck and the lobster by far!

Though service sucked, I would still come back here because the food is that good. (I went to the other location for dim sum 2 days prior)

// SERVICE // Crappy. Have to flag down 2-3 people each time you want something (soy sauce, water, napkins, hot water for your tea, etc). The only thing they are quick about bringing you is the bill! The only decent service we had was when dim sum was wrapping up, some of the cart ladies would bring out the specific dim sum items we asked for because there were only 1-2 carts in circulation by that time.

// FOOD // Delicious. Must get items
        +Har gow: Shrimp dumpling
        +Siu Mai: Pork dumpling
+Har Cheung Fun: Shrimp Rice roll
+Lo Mai Gai: Glutinous rice in lotus leaf
+Bo lo bao: Pineapple bun. Delish steamed or baked
+Jellyfish (don't knock it till you try it)
        +Lo Bat Gow: Turnip Cake

*tip: Dim Sum ends at 3 pm everyday including weekdays.

    0-1 star service + 5 star food = 3 star rating.

I am very happy I was convinced to get dim sum here. The wait for 2 on a sunday late morning was not bad at all, maybe 20 minutes at most. All the dishes were pretty great. I loved the choy sum, siu mai, chong funn, and sticky rice. yumyumyumyum! The service isn't all that great, but the dimsum cart ladies come around frequently.
The hostess is very hard to understand. They have a little microphone into which they yell the numbers in chinese and english. It gets pretty hectic.....
don't forget to save room for milk tea with boba at tian ren :)

You want to come around opening, 9:30am, to beat the crazy brunch crowd.

The dim sum is good and cheap. I think the funniest thing is that without going with my parents, I would never know how to order at this place. But either way, my family speaks mandarin, and the entire staff are cantonese. They pretty much assume you speak cantonese so everytime they come to you with food, you have absolutely no idea what they're saying. But that's okay because by looking at the food, you kinda know what is tasty versus what is super weird (chilli covered beef tendons)

Love coming here on a Saturday morning!

Nothing like waiting 45min on a Sunday for dim sum, all sarcasm aside it's good- not amazing, but gets the job done. When you're going home full and only spending around $10 a person you can't really complain.

This is the nearest dim sum place to me that serves good dim sum that is super cheap!! I just came here again today while I ditched class and I asked myself why havent I reviewed this place :)  haha

I actually prefer this dim sum place over the places where i can 'speak vietnamese.' I dont mind too much that they cant speak english, cause I feel like I can just point at stuff I want. Lol, or say it really horribly and butcher the language... nevertheless, my desires are clear. Aside from the english thing, the service here is still pretty horrible. the workers are rude and sometimes I never get the soy sauce or napkins or addition thing I require... But all of that can be overlooked by CHEAP FOOD... today me and a friend ate for $10 .. .. hahah so CHEAP!!

I just dont recommend coming here on weekends.. cause the wait can get really annoying.. (bigger group = longer wait) ... mostly with the rude people blowing smoke in your face and the older chinese people pushing into you like no tomorrow.. .. come here on weekdays when it's less busy...

First time dim summer:) i must say everything was pretty good and tasty. I loved the custard rolls but wonder what the calorie count is on half the stuff i ate:( the service is HORRIBLE! But i grew up in Alhambra so i'm used to the mistreatment asians give their customers. We sat for a good 25 minutes before even given our pot of tea. That was only because we practically had to tackle a server down. All in all i'd go back because the food was good and in the end $36 or 4 people! Can't beat that;)

yum yum i love me some dim sum! ALWAYS packed and about an hour wait every time we come here on a weekend afternoon. Is this the only place around Rowland Heights that serve bomb dim sum? I guess so. The annoying part is waiting for a table, but once seated, all the dim sum carts flock to you. Sometimes onrare occasion you have to be really assertive in order to get what you want. For some reason it's always hard for me to get the chinese broccoli.

On other days, when it's not so busy, orders come out fast and the food never disappoints.

Hands down the worst service I had ever gotten EVER in my life. But I did come expecting it because well... it's a Chinese place and we all know they're more about the food and less about the service.

Parking wasn't as bad as usual because we all went on a Monday at around 12:30. However, my first time here was on a weekend and we ended up waiting for almost 45 minutes and it was packed to maximum capacity where there was barely any walking space. When I went on Monday though, we just waited for a mere 10-15 minutes so it wasn't that bad. When we got seated, no one came over for the longest time. I guess I'm used to being approached by a lady with a cart right away when I get dim sum in OC. Also they charge you for chili sauce and mustard sauce! I don't know if that's normal procedure, but all the other places I've been to don't charge for that. It ended up being $5 for the 3 sets of chili sauce and 5 waters we got. Whatever, no big deal. The options were pretty standard, things you would find anywhere else.

There is definitely a language barrier. The first time, I went with my mandarin bestie so I didn't have to worry about ordering. But the second time I went with my cousins and none of us speak Mandarin so it would take us a while to order certain things. The best part of our brunch was at the end when my cousin's girlfriend flagged down a busboy to give us our check. He looked like a young fellow, in his late teens or early 20s. He came over and screams "WHAT!" and gives her a scowl. I was so taken aback, and so was she. She's not the type to take that type of attitude from anyone so she gave him this death look that even Medusa would be frightened of. Anyhow, if I was really REALLY craving dim sum & I happen to have someone who could speak mandarin come along, then yeah I'd go again, but only on a weekday.

I go to this place quite often, and I'm quite understanding of the rushed services one tends to get at these types of restaurants.   But my late dinner at New Capital last night was a horrible experience:

While they were still servicing food, they started remodeling work INSIDE the restaurant!  When my group (and the table next to us) complained about the harsh, cold draft blasting us from the workers use of the fire escape to  bring in tools and material.  We asked why the service staff didn't seat us away from the remodeling  zone from the beginning, since they obviously had to know the work was going to start, and there were PLENTY of tables available.  The waiters didn't know how to answer us, so we asked for the floor manager on staff that night, but the manager didn't do ANYTHING!
He offered NO explanation, NO apologies, just walked around our table with his head down, and walked away.  THREE TIMES we asked for the manager, and not ONCE did he do anything.  The wait staff was more apologetic than the Manager was...
As a matter of fact, the wait staff couldn't even get the Manager to come over to our table until my mom loudly said that she could file a complaint to the health department about the unsanitary condition of doing remodeling work while seating and serving food to customers within the work zone.

Overall, their food IS still pretty good, but the service has reached a new low, especially with the incompetent Manager from last night (I think his name was Tony).  I am disturbed by the fact that they don't seem to care about whether we get plaster and paint in our food.  But I'm most appalled by the fact that we could NOT get managerial attention about that until we had to bring up possible health code violations.

Took my sister and her boyfriend here last weekend. Usually my go to dim sum place is House of Louie out in West Covina, but when we showed up and they were closed (for renovation) we quickly yelped and found this place about 15 minutes away.

Thanks, yelpers for the great recommendation! We were very happy with our pick.  The restaurant is really very big so despite being very busy on a Saturday afternoon we only had to wait about 15 minutes.  What I love about dim sum is it's the perfect thing to eat when you're really hungry and want something to eat immediately because as soon as you sit down the carts come straight for you.

We ate all dim sum and I thought everything was good nothing blew me out of the water on how amazing it was but at the same time, I wasn't unhappy with anything. I'd definitely go back again and recommend people in the area.

Oh and service is OK.  But, any authentic chinese restaurant has just OK service--I think.  The women are rough and tough and you gotta be just as assertive as them to get what you want!

I have been frequenting this restaurant for 3 years now and have always had a positive experience.  My recent visit was no different.  When my family from Philippines and Hong Kong comes to visit and prefers authentic chinese food, this is the restaurant I take them to.  My Chinese brother-in-law, who happends to be very nitpicky when it comes to his food, approves of this restaurant and more.  We drive 40 minutes just to have dim sum here every now and then, braving the 1 hour wait time or more.  This place is always busy.  No matter the day of the week, but more so on brunch weekends! Unfortunately, there are times when we are simply just in a hurry and can't wait that long (over an hour wait), that's when we go to another dimsum restaurant in Nogales - The Happy Harbor.

The food here are really amazing.  I love the flavors of freshly steamed dimsum.  Our usual favorites are the har kaw, sio mai, chicken feet, steamed pork ribs, sticky rice, steamed chinese broccoli in oyster sauce and fried shrimp balls. I have to admit that I also order different viands that I don't know what they are called.  I just pick out from the cart what looks good to me.  Often times, it's a no miss.  I like most of it too.  From time to time, like on our recent visit, we like to order their live fishes - just have it steamed in soy sauce and green onions.  Simple dish but soo yummmy!  I believe we had the live rock fish, cat fish and tilapia here.  I like the red rock fish the most.  My family also love their live crab special.

I'm use to chinese servers who are stoic, sometimes appearing rude.  Sometimes, I understand it is the language barrier so I don't really take it personally when chinese servers seemed abrupt.  Like I said, I am use to that and it's no big deal to me.  But my recent visit here was a pleasant surprise.  Servers here seems friendly and accommodating.  Though, I still need to speak english slowly or one-word at a time, it was not overly taxing.  In fact, all of them were eager to please us and deliver our orders.  One bus boy unexpectedly replaced my sons spoon when his accidentally fell off the floor.  Yes, they seem to actually go out of their way to make our dining experience a pleasant one.  Dim sum and this restaurant in particular, can be pretty chaotic.  Mainly because of so many people eating here; the busy servers and carts are all over the place.  But I truly enjoyed my recent trip here (made me miss Hong Kong more).  The 1hr 15minutes wait was well worth it.

Prices here can be inexpensive depending on your order.  But the live fishes, lobster and crabs are expectedly expensive but worth it.

I will be coming back soon... perhaps then, my sista and her family will join us!

Hour long waits for some really cheap Dim Sum.

Caveat Lector: I only have Dim Sum here.
What I'd get: The Dim Sum. Chicken feet.
Who I'd take here: Family and friends in small groups to be seated easier.

    Food Quality: 5
This is your standard Dim Sum. The food is alright, as far as Dim Sum goes, and they'll offer you a standard variety of, chicken feet, har gao, shau mai, pork buns, sticky rice, etc. This place is very cheap, for a group of eight the check came out to be only ~100, and we ordered 30+ dishes (Compared this to SD Dim Sum, where it's ~70 for 3 people).
    +2 really cheap.

    Service Quality: 1
The service here is pretty bad as far as Asian seafood goes. We had to ask for tea. The tea came without the usual chili/mustard dish and waters. We had to ask for each, separately, and it took a while to get it. This place has too many tables for the number of Dim Sum carts/food being served; they have down time where they're not serving anything. I won't take away point for it being too crowded, this place is popular--I will take away points for their inability to cope. This place is packed all the time. You should get here early, and avoid taking large groups here, if you don't want to wait an hour for your food.
-1 bad service. -1 slow food delivery.

    Location, Cleanliness and Ambiance: 3
This place is in a very accessible strip mall off Fullerton, off the 60. The mall itself gives you a lot to do while waiting for your table. That said, it's tricky to find parking here. Also, the bathrooms are pretty dirty; reminiscent of a dive bar.
+1 east to get to. -1 dirty bathrooms.

How I rate: I have 3 categories, and each category starts at 3 points. For each item where I am impressed, they get 1 point; disappointed, lose one point.

    Overall rating: round(average(ratings)) = round(3) = 3
