I love Neverender. I have been patronizing it since it was located on 2nd Street in Reno. It seems like they had more sales in the previous location, but I have still found some good buys recently. It is a great place for unique gifts, clothing and accessories, not unlike items you would find in a more trendy city such as San Francisco. I still use a handbag I purchased here over two years ago (it is machine washable and quite durable). One of the shirts I bought here started getting holes along the seam lines, but I cannot blame the store for the workmanship. If you get on their mailing list, you will be in the know for the sales, which are when I usually go shopping there. They have things ranging from as little as $5 to more expensive items like coats ($80) or more detailed pieces. They are located in the Mid-town area, next to The Hub coffee shop and Maytan music.

Sometimes my brain truly impresses me with its sophistication and worldliness.  When one of my Reno friends told me that we needed to visit a new shop called the Never Ender Gallery while I was in town, my brain instantly latched onto a certain popular fantasy movie of the 1980s and started wailing, "The Neverender Gall-er-eeeeee, whoa-oh-ohh-oh-ohh-oh..." and continued to do that every single time anyone mentioned the name of the store.  You can see why Reno wasn't classy enough to keep me.

So, trying to ignore the endlessly looped song in my head, I paid a visit to the Never Ender Gallery.  It's located on the ground floor of a converted house, and with no A/C, it gets pretty stifling in the store's several small connected rooms, even with box fans rumbling away in every corner.

The boutique offers a mix of jewelry, clothing, and accessories, with wall art displayed in the back (at the time I visited, the featured art included some creepy mixed-media sculptures involving baby dolls).  The jewelry ranges from plastic op-art pendants on fabric cords ($18) to designer sterling pieces - I liked the vintagey, tattoo-art-inspired pendants.  They have a small selection of http://Threadless.com t-shirts, which is the first time I've seen them in a bricks-and-mortar store.  Accessories include felted brooches, wallets and small bags, and other trinkets, and there are a few things (not many) under $10.

The owner was friendly and helpful, and seemed happy to open up cabinets and take out jewelry for us to try on.  In the end, though, I saw a lot of stuff that I kinda-liked and nothing that I loved.  Maybe I'm spoiled from living in Seattle, land of cute boutiques, but nothing that I saw was truly unique or remarkable enough to justify the prices.  If they put a giant white flying dragon-dog in the window, though, that would be a totally different story...
