My best friend is from Milwaukee (lives in Chicago now, like me) but she got married back in MW 2 weekends ago & booked the bridal party & moms to get our hair done at a salon there. ANYONE going near my hair that I havent handpicked and thoroughly researched makes me intensely nauseous, I am a little (aka insanely) manic when it comes to my hair... & none of us had ever been to this salon before... nor did we know/have any idea about the stylists...so I was FREAKING out a bit internally but didn't want to be a bridesmaidzilla! :-)

Well my good behavior paid off. Turned out AWESOME. I was SO happy. I even saved the receipt, as I've been having an awful time finding the right salon in Chicago, so I figured if I stillllll keep having a bad luck streak here, I can always make the trek up north.

My stylist was Vanessa. Not sure I'd recommend everyone there, one of the stylists working on another person in our group was. not. friendly. and pretty negative/offputting. Vanessa was really easygoing and friendly though, and very understanding when I had to keep taking calls/texts since it was the last few hours before the wedding!

also, I didn't get my makeup done, but everyone who did looked great & was really happy with the results (we covered a range from moms to 20-somethings! :-)

I recently got my hair cut at the Neroli in Bayshore. The person I had an appointment with had left sick, and against my better judgment, I went with the person they called in to cover her appointments.

I had never been to a Neroli before, and knew my wallet was in for it when they gave me a cup of coffee (good coffee! It was probably Alterra!) and brought me to an interior waiting room with plush furniture and those annoying TVs playing techno music while showing runway model footage. Or maybe I'm old, but I hate that. It reeks of effort.  Like making the stylists all wear black, which they do. I really hate that as well.

My hair was still wet from my morning shower, but my stylist insisted on washing and conditioning it again anyway. I liked the scalp & shoulder massage, but again, my purse was aching at the thought of what that momentary pleasure would do to it in the long term.

I knew my mid-back length hair needed a good bit chopped off on account of the ends being fried and all, but maybe it was the oxytocins released in the massage, maybe it was the intoxicating effect of the Aveda products, but I let her talk me into cutting it to my collar-bone. Plus, there might have been a little misunderstanding. I asked her if she watches Scrubs, because I like Elliot's hair in Season Five, and what I think I got was Season Two (minus the "don't mess with me" bangs.  (It's now 5 1/2 inches shorter. I wasn't quite ready for that drastic of a change. I'm in mourning still, and it's been almost a week).  And some of the layers are even shorter, although I can still get it back into a ponytail, which is important.

I have to admit though, it's a damn good cut. Kerry did an excellent job. She understands hair like mine (fine, fine, fine).  As with any haircut, I guess the rule is to bring a picture of what you want, and to ask the stylist to honestly tell you if you have the right hair for the style you want.

So it was $40, plus tip. And I think she's on the bottom rung . . . the bad news, then, is while I would love to go back for more massaging, maybe a facial, and a color, I am way too poor to go back to Neroli anytime soon.

This is a good place, with good services.  My only reason for not giving 5 stars is it's a bit pricey.  I've gone to many spas in the city and find although they are great here, they are a bit more expensive and I always feel like they are trying to sell me so much stuff before I go (yes, last time I feel for the massage oil that sits on my shelf collecting dust).

Maybe you're paying for the fancy atmosphere?  It is very nice, I like to go here with a friend or family member.  You can hang out in the lounge before your service and have a little snack.  It's a cool place and everyone is very knowledgeable and professional.  Shower and locker room facilities are the best I've been to, very clean modern and spacious.

I've gone for facials, massages and my favorite (and most expensive!) hot stone therapy massage.  I'd recommned for those special events as it is a great treat.  My parents have gone for pedicures as well and have enjoyed that (we convinced my dad and he enjoyed it even with all my teasing...).

I have only ever gone to the neroli in brookfield. The brookfield location opened a few years ago I believe, and the owner s just opened a third location at the bayshore mall.
I go to school out of state, but Neroli is always one my "to do list" whever I come home. I normally get a facial ( elemental with alynn). The relaxation room has a fireplace which helps to get you "in the mood" for your treatment.
For my  hair, I sometimes go to Mia or jamie. Both are good with hair. I think mia does a great job with styling after the cut. I just recently colored my hair going from blonde to a medium brown. Jamie did the color, and I love it!
of course, it can be a tad princey, but thats expected for such a great place. i justify it bc its a lot cheaper then going to any aveda spa where i go to school in palm beach, florida.

i promise...you wont be disappointed!!

Had a facial there.  An expensive gift certificate. The girl came to get me late and the facial only lasted 50 minutes when should have been an hour.  The facial itself wasnt anything special. Expected so much more from all I had heard. Parking is bad.

I LOVE going to Neroli! It is the hilight of my week! It is a fancy place to go and be pampered. You are greeted with a cup of tea/coffee/water and a warm cloth for your hands. It is a very relaxing atmosphere, and you are always treated the very best here. The SPA mani/pedis are the best, and you need to try the parafin treatment, it makes your hands & feet feel amazing. I've also had great facials and massages at Neroli :)
