7 reviews for Negro Durazo
Mm. I recommend the governator taco or something called that.
My margarita was kinda weh but the food overall was wonderful. I'm totally going back.
5 Stars for the music that's is you like Sierreno music. They have a group on the weekends called Los Torios de Sinaloa.
The food is ok but I rather go to Tijuana Restauran for the food the agua chile is better at this location and the rest of the food is better in Tijuana. This is ok to have a quick bite and not spend hours on the border !
good food but a dirty place
WOW!
So I am one mexican chick that loves me some seafood...
C'mon my family is from Mazatlan!
This place is a sorry excuse of a restaurant. My favorite thing to order when going to a place like this is the Agua Chile... This is an easy way to know if a place knows how to make their mariscos.
Firstly I ordered and order of Agua Chile that was smothered in this NOT HOT dark sauce... They said it was what they prepared it with... I returned the plate twice asking them to turn up the heat... IT IS AGUA CHILE!!! (Translation- Chili Water = supposed to be smoking hot)
To make the long story short they brought out the whole bottle. They were adding a premade hot sauce to aguachile? WTF?
I was so turned off! Aguachile is made by mashing hot chiles, like jalapeños, serranos, or when your really gangster- HABANEROS!!
The fact that they were clearly totally lost on this... killed it all for me... I ended up ordering some fish tacos which were more than mediocre they were just wrong.
DONT GO TO THIS PLACE!! save your time and money...
Tasty mariscos, delightful service, and live music. It adds up to a solid 4-star experience at Negro Durazo.
Located on Broadway in Chula Vista, Negro Durazo looks very small from outside. But when you walk in its actually rather spacious. They have an eclectic decor going on... but its welcoming.
Along the walls there are photos of many of the fish dishes. The menu also has a lot of photos, which is helpful. You can also look at what other patrons are ordering. They cook the meals incredibly fast, and plates of food emerge from the kitchen very often.
The servers are very friendly. They check up on you just enough so if you decide un esprite just won't do, they'll bring you a frosty michelada. Said beverage goes very well with the salsa here. Too bad they don't sell it "to go," because its real good.
They had 2 small bands come through and play while I ate there. They were not overly loud, and they did not lean over you to request tips.
From my experience I can recommend the filete empanizado, and the cooked shrimp. Cocteles looked delicious and popular among the regs. Especially one that is served in a hollowed-out coconut!
To top it all off, they also accept plastic, so I didn't have to run to an atm or pay fees. And they have their own parking lot so you don't have to parallel on Broadway and hoof it. I'll definitely return to this restaurant.
Hijole. What can I say about Negro Durazo?
Went there a few weeks ago with the hubby. He got a shrimp ceviche tostada and a lobster taco. I got a fish ceviche tostada and two smoked marlin quesadillas. My mouth waters just recalling these dishes.
The tostada used for the ceviche was nice and crisp and there was plenty of fish loaded onto it. The ceviche was fresh and uber tasty, just like Mazatlan. House salsa was smokey and had just the right amount of heat.
We had the ceviche first and then they brought the quesadillas and taco. Oh holy jeebus! Mine were loaded with smoked marlin, grilled onions and peppers and melted cheese. The corn tortillas (this took my breath away) were crispy from the grill.
This place has a casual atmosphere with live music on weekend evenings. The staff is friendly and prompt and prices are decent. The menu is almost completely in Spanish, but there are photos of all the dishes throughout the menu and restaurant and the staff is always willing to describe any dish.
Big props. I look forward to returning.
Good fresh seafood. Prices are alright: 13.00/12 oysters and for almost every plate well served. They do serve the seafood without the rice and beans as many other places do.
I mean they do have them but if you order a seafood dish, you get a plate full of seafood Period.
Their service is good, servers seem to be happy doing what they are doing and treat all equally (unlike Karina's where they cater to the male customers WAY better than to us females: tip related since males will appreciate the minis and the cleavage show with their service lol-true fact)
Durazos likes to have return customers and they make sure you are satisfied and check up on you regularly.
Have not been there when there's a music group but in Chula Vista all seafood places get the drive by musicians, so if you stay long enough you'll get to hear some group play a tune or two.
Their Micheladas are good...but not as good as Karina's.
Be sure to ask for their special house salsa, it's good.
For seafood locally, I go nowhere else.
I hear their breakfasts are good but have not tried them yet. I think they stop serving breakfast at 11 AM
