Completely mediocre dim sum. Nothing good to say. Nothing bad to say. The "B" rating on the door must be new, as people here noticed a "C" rating a few months ago, so apparently they're at least working on that. They were fairly fast w/ the carts, though never took a drink order and we waited a while on the check.
Everything was okay. Nothing was spectacular. Cheap and close to work, but nothing to write home about. The quest for better dim sum continues...
I went to two wedding banquets here in the last several months. One, on the last day of the former owners, and the second, recently, under the new owners. Both: kind of sad food.
At the second banquet visit, the lobster was fishy, the scallops were going bad, the rest of the food was blah. Except the ubiquitous walnut/shrimp/mayo dish, which was fine, how can you go wrong with that dish--except I hate that dish. Why do Chinese people eat that stuff?
At least at the first banquet, the lobster was good.
Disappointing dinners--and this was banquet food.

I wanted to check out their dim sum post-new ownership. It was fine, just like it was fine before.… Read more »
This is the best Dim Sum place i ever eaten, ever.... (sry never been to china so this has to do)
SO WHAT THEY GET C RATINGS
SO WHAT THEY HAVE LONG WAITS DURING PEAK DIM SUM HOURS
SO WHAT THEY BARELY SPEAK ENGRISH
I live like what 30 minutes away and i been coming here with my family for what uhhh 10 years now? prolly more, nothing beats the shu mai i did notice after a year or 2 ago instead of it coming in 4 it comes with 5 which is a bonus unless they jacked up the price? w/e still good. I swear their chrimp Cheung fun is the most softest noodles eva mm mm mm so tasty. Their egg rolls never disapoint, even tho they have changed over the years, i dont know what they do to the food to make it soo good msg? but mm mm mm im getting the cravin for it now. And for sum of that mango custard ahh man thats the best.
if you know a better dim sum place near garden grove you better tell me cause i h8 driving here! but looove eatin here! FYI for you white ppl there is no orange chicken here!!
Great dimsum. Quick service. Plenty of parking. Cheap. The place is big so you get seated quickly too.
You'll see a lot of families in here. Great for banquets or for a dinner out with family without breaking the bank.
Extremely dirty. Now a C rating.
Oh, it's sad to see a prominent chinese restaurant fall from grace, even with new ownership. Want a good proxy? Just peek inside their kitchen (besides that's where your food IS being prepared). And they leave it wide open for you to inspect when you pass to get to the restroom (not sure the logic, but I'm sure they welcome your glances).
Now I hear you say, Vince you're such a hypocrite, you love Sam Woo and dirty little noodle shops, and they're no better. But NBC and Sam Woo are on two different tiers of restaurants. You might get wed or celebrate your first born here. Not vice versa.
Will update when they get their act together again.
** This is a review for their dim sum **
My family and I have been coming to this restaurant for dim sum for nearly 8 years. They recently changed ownership. The quality of the food has slipped somewhat but it still represents a great value for what you pay.
Most of the clientele in here is Chinese but it is definitely English-speaking friendly. I would definitely try to stick to their steamed dishes rather than their fried dishes. My usual suspects are the shrimp rice rolls, spare ribs with black bean, shu mai, shrimp dumpling, and the barbeque pork buns.
I have learned from my family that the best indication of a good dim sum place is to try the very classic dim sum dishes, shu mai and har gow (shrimp dumpling). I will say that it's been kind of hit and miss with it being too greasy. We would order two dishes of shu mai and one would be great and the other too greasy. Maybe the chefs are still new and learning to mesh.
Anyways, great place with lots of parking and not too far from the 60 or 10 freeway.
This place remodeled and looks so much better now that they put chair covers, making it look like were at an asian wedding.
they racked up little bit on the price but their service is great and prompt!
Their always pack on weekends so try going early for dim sum so you don't have to wait an hour to eat.
Why am I giving out 5 stars like crazy lately? Does everything just taste good automatically or maybe I'm getting lucky? Maybe I'm just in a good mood. I think your mileage will vary greatly when you go to a Chinese restaurant because you can order crap (i.e. sweet sour pork and fried noodles) and think its crap.
ORRR you can order 2.5 lb of live red snapper coming in at $50 for the fish and have it taste immensely AWESOME! Fish stomach and crab meat soup? 5 stars as well! I ate like 2 whole pieces of crab claw in there... they really do not skimp. Where do they find these giiant shrimps 6" long and body like an inch in diameter?
Funny thing here is that they were having a wedding banquet taking up about 4/5th of the restaurant and it didn't even start yet. We had service like royalty because there were about 3 waiters just serving our table due to the timing. Plates replaced at least 8 times by the ninja waiters. Done with the last bite of fish? Plate gone in 3 seconds! Finished with fish soup? Dirty bowl gone in 2 seconds! You might think it was kinda of pushy but they were very careful to be stealth and wait until you are comfortably done with something before zipping in and removing your dirty dishes.
The food here is crazy good.
Not insanely delicious, mind you.
Just Crazy good.
There is a difference.
:D
- Asparagus and garlic in black-bean sauce. Delicious.
- Sauteed Beef and Snow Peas w/ peppers and onions. Yum.
- One of my favorites: Cold Steamed Chicken with ginger sauce.
DA bomb! The ginger sauce made the dish.
- Prawns and Scrambled Eggs. Very good. Chunky prawns and very fluffy eggs.
- Stewed Seafood Hot pot with Vegetables. Damn good!
- And the Pièce de résistance: The Spicy Pepper Lamb in black-bean sauce. Oh yeah, Armageddon-it.
- And, I even liked the warm sweet Red Bean porridge dessert thing.
Of course...........
I am beginning to not really like big-ass-loud-ass restaurants.
And, I am really getting tired of supposedly "finer" dining Chinese restaurants, that give the same crappy-sloppy-rushed service as their cheap and greasy counter parts.
WTF, right?
People have hour and a half dinners here. No one is rushing off to any place. So why they gotta be slinging bowls and plate everywhere like they do on kunf-fu movies?
And, why do they slosh food around when serving you?
Dang. If that's how it's gonna be, I can serve myself...thank you.
It's a good thing you all have crazy good food.
Five stars for dim sum.
I'm not going to fake it, I think it's a huge advantage to eat at this place with a Chinese speaker but not having a Chinese speaker in your crew SHOULD NOT DETER YOU from rolling through anyway.
I personally enjoy the items that come in the steaming dishes the most. If you've never been to dim sum you'll recognize the metal, cylindrical steam bowls and their contents are usually yummy.
I like sticking to meats and sticky buns. The dumplings and dumpling wraps are mad delicious. Try the sticky buns with the been/beef curd inside (they're white, soft and fluffy looking). The lotus leaf wrapped "rice tamales" are tasty and so is the turnip cake (must have).
My O.C. Asian-Persuasion friend says "NBC is special because not too many dim sum spots still have servers pushing carts of different foods through the restaurant". This is supposed to be more traditional but it makes ordering super easy because (1) you can point and nod at shit you want to try and (2) it let's you see the food before you commit, in case you're on the fence about certain dishes or some what picky.
This place gets packed so plan to wait a little. The service is great and the staff is super attentive. Their goal is to get you fed, get you out and bring in another group of people to seat ASAP.
Here are some tips from a guy that speaks Spanish to the Japanese:
Bing Ssshwou (water)
Boo yao (that's a polite way of saying "I don't want none of that")
Shey shey (thanks)

I think I've found my "go-to" dim sum place! It was actually a bit more expensive than I thought it would be, but the food is GOOD and fresh. The service was also better than I expected, considering we're at a Chinese restaurant. They refilled our tea pot without being asked, and some of the servers even spoke some English! It's still easier to go with someone who speaks Cantonese though.
This review is specific to NBC's dim sum. I've been to NBC at least 100 times over the last 15 years. I also used to eat at ABC, Ocean Star, all being owned by the same group. I hadn't been back to NBC for several years due in fact to there run down facility and poor food quality. But now under new ownership the place has been revitalized.
So this Sunday I decided to take the trip and try there dim sum. I was really surprised, the food was darn good. I had been eating at other places were you order dim sum off the menu and it comes out together, almost forgot what the carts were like.
Everything we ordered was fresh and served hot. The veggies were great, pork with crispy skin, yummy. All the steamed dumplings excellent.. I can't think of anything we ordered that wasn't quite delicious. I've had better dim sum, but I was happy to be able to go back to a place I used to really enjoy for dim sum and dinners.
The biggest shock was the service, super pleasant and very friendly. They filled our tea pot at least six times without asking. All the women pushing the carts were friendly and helpful. I like NBC, and will definitely be back soon.
Elite was too crowded and we were too hungry to wait. Since NBC was oh so close, we ended up there and brought our huge appetites. On the plus side, the service was fast as always (note - I did not say friendly, just lightning fast) and the wait was less than 5 minutes.
But then again, who goes to a Chinese restaurant for the service? The food can be described as:
Not the
Best
Cantonese
Alright, I know, I couldn't get "The" to fit into NBC, but it's 2am and the best I can do. NBC is a step above Chinatown dim sum, two steps above West LA dim sum, but with all the tough competition in the SGV, it is not a winner. I am a believer that you can judge a dim sum restaurant's overall quality by sampling a couple of classics like Har Gow or Siu Mai. NBC failed the Har Gow test today - the filling was dry and the skin broke.
In true Chinese restaurant fashion, NBC has a "B" health rating and the food is extremely affordable.
table for 20 please!
Actually we have more than 20 people and they have been able to accommodate us in no time!!!
That's a plus for big groups!!!
To tell you the truth i barely know what i ate that day but one thing i'm sure of I went home full and happy.
So here's what i remember.
the donut
the prawns (3 big ass prawns!!!)
the suckling pig
siu mai
steamed bun
tofu
taro thing
and the rest i can't remember so this review is useless!
if i get an ROTD for this I'm gonna stop writing...
I don't know why but for some reason I'm okay with the fact that this restaurant is never really all that clean. It's a bad sign if you don't want to touch anything and are worried about your hands getting dirty.
But I still come here with my extended family sometimes because this is about as authentic as it gets. I remember there was this one time that duck was ordered for the table and out came the duck on a platter....and so did it's head!
It's good for groups of people, they are always really busy and you can almost play a really big game of red rover because there are just that many people and you can pretty much pick off each other's plates.
Everything is served family style and they have a pretty big menu. Can't remember much but they have this really good noodle dish where it's crispy on top and noodle-y goodness in the middle.
So I had a hankering for dim sum today and felt adventurous enough to head out to Monterey Park. My thing today was to just STOP somewhere and hope for the best. I pulled into this yellow strip mall spot, hardly resembling the usual chinese restaurant spot......... IT WAS NBC. We sit down and immediately start order the standard, har gow, sui mai, etc.
To my suprise, it wasn't bad at all! Have I had better dim sum? FO SHO! Can I say I left satisfied? YES I CAN. The sui mai is good, and the do make their own hot sauce which I am also a fan of. The har gow was fine, char sui bao was decent, the chung fun with shrimp was ok except the fact that they reall favor the rice noodle part in that. The lo bat go was nice a crispy around the edges. All in all, my experience was good. 3 stars came from the bratty me that was raised in Hong Kong.:) Happy dining peeps!
Yes I pigged out at NBC
Yes I had part of a pig too
Yes I came here after not wanting to wait in the line for Elite. Good thing because NBC is cheap and IMO better!
Yes I forgot what I ordered since it was a couple weeks ago.
Yes the sticky rice was good.
Yes I recommend this spot and Yes it is super affordable.
Yes I was able to order in English by politely gesturing to what it is I wanted to taste. Actually I let my friend do most of the ordering since she spoke Mandarin.
Yes they had those carts that go around.
Yes the service was quite slow when I wanted more water to quench the thirst from all that MSG.
Oh Yes, dont forget to try the Walnut Shrimp and the Shark fin Soup.
Yes I will be back many more times.
As far as I concerned, comparing where I was born, the home town of Dim Sum, this place is very likely and closely to the traditional Dim Sum and Chinese food! I was so happy to go to this restaurant because I miss the food in my country and my home town!
Well as I read others' reviews, maybe there r places better than this one but I haven't been to others yet... so... I still got this one a five star :)
I've been semi-regularly to this place since it opened in the 80's. They have steadily remained at the same level.
Horrible service. I remember one time a table of us cousins saw that their chicken was missing many pieces. This was when we were young and supposedly dumb. They never bring more water or tea unless you ask multiple times. The servers seem to find a way to be louder. I'm Canto and admit I have no volume control, but even I find it loud and noisy. My son refuses to sit through this place ever. In the womb, he would kick mom. Now that he is out and about, he will not calm down at this place, but is perfectly fine in other restaurants for up to 1 hour in his little car seat/chair. This is a 8 month old with daily commutes of 30 minutes one way and weekly commutes of 2 hrs typically with daddy's radio on.
The food is ok. The portions seem much bigger than other local spots for a decent price over all the years. With the recent turn in economy, I cannot say that this is the best prices anymore though. I have had their dinner menu during both dinner times and at lunch times for different family/friend events. The menu items are much better during lunch time. Their dim sum is only ok at best, but it is also ok at worst.
My son, wife and I refuse to go here unless someone else we actually care about wants to. If it's a casual friend that wants to meet up here, I will just refuse to go. If a family member wants to go here, I might show up. If my buddy wants to go there, I'll try to suggest another place. The service is always what stops me from wanting to show up. Unfortunately the cheap Asians I know and love all seem to want that price for the serving size.
Even though I find that NBC is a huge place that accomodates a lot of people/tables, there is still a line for Dim Sum. We had a party of four and it took about 20 min or so to get a table on a Sunday afternoon. The wait wasn't too bad but the place was filled and people kept coming in.
The food here is not too shabby. Some of the dishes were really good while others were mediocre. There wasn't anything fancy or something that stood out that made me say wow but I wouldn't mind coming back here because the food is decent.
The joint itself is clean and modern. The service was pretty good considering that they had about a million people on the floor. Even then, every worker was busy. The food carts came around plenty of times but certain carts never came around for some odd reason. By the time the cart we wanted to come by, we were already full and ready for the check.
All I can say is that be prepared to wait a little bit if you choose to come for some Dim Sum, esp on the weekends. It is a popular place, the food is not bad at all, and it is located in a massive Asian populated area (the 626!). Other than that, I had a good time with my friends here and would come back.
The two times I've visited this place (graduation and mom's b-day) there was a banquet adjacent to the general dining area. So it's pretty popular (as the reviews here indicate), but since we dine early, it's not very busy. I'm only familiar with their dinner service, where the food is served 'family style', so I have no experience with their earlier dim sum fare. With that said, their "entrees" are pretty good.
We tried their stir-fried lobster with "yi mien", seafood tofu soup, house special noodle, orange chicken (yes, Panda Express has lead us astray), and beef with greens. All were all great. The lobster noodle seems to be all the rage now at every chinese seafood restaurant in town, each establishment tempting you to try it with bargain prices and special deals. It tastes great, with the flavor of the lobster soaking in the subtle texture of the noodle. The other dishes were pretty standard, not amazing but not bad.
Our favorite dish has to be their Peking Duck. Having tried the authentic stuff in Beijing, this place gets it very close. All your missing is the over-the-top presentation of a chef cutting it for you in front of an audience of tourists hiding behind flashy cameras. It comes with lovely steamed buns to wrap slices of crispy/fatty duck skin with, accompanied by a sweet sauce and slices of green onion as garnish. I'm mesmerized at how much of this stuff ends up in my belly. Unlike the mainland, the duck meat is chopped and stir fried with a bunch of other stuff (it's not Chinese if you can guess all the ingredients!) for you to scoop up in lettuce leaves. Yum! Two dishes with one protein (it's 23 bux btw)!
Anomaly: service is attentive. Actually, it's overly attentive. They seem to have twice as many servers than needed. With nothing to do, they hover and await anything that requires their attention. Yes, everything was done promptly and courteously, but they just seemed too eager. A minor observation, but distracting still.
For about $120 bux for a party of six, you can get stuffed on great food with enough left overs to feed a small country. Stop by, just make sure to greet the bride and groom after you enter!
When I lived in LA, I'd drive all the way down here just to eat dim sum. For me, this place is the best dim sum place of all the places I've been to in LA and Monterey Park. What I love is their variety of dim sum.
My only caution of this place is the wait on weekends. People obviously love going here and on the weekends the wait could be up to an hour. Perhaps you could drop by the new LA Fitness next door while you wait. =P
Dim Sum & Then Sum!
We got here on Sunday around 10:30 am. the place was already packed but they cycled through pretty quickly. By 11, 8 of us were sitting at a table (they rolled in the larger top) and the pork buns were flyin'. We sampled lots of the Dim Sum and along with some noodle dishes. everything was flavorful and seemed fresh. there was so much turnover I don't know how anything could go wrong. the food kept coming and although I am far from a Dim Sum expert it was all good to me.
We got a few stares from people waiting for tables since the 8 of us took our time eating and enjoying company. But we never felt rushed by the staff. The best part was 8 of us got filled for a little over $100. tax and tip $15 each. We even had leftovers. I will definitely go back next time I'm craving Dim Sum.
NBC....well i don't even know why they would name themselves nbc, but it's just your typical huge chinese restaraunt.
huge round tables, dimsum carts, etc. the food isn't any better than other typical chinese restaurants. My family tends to go there a lot when we're in town. I do believe dimsum is much cheaper than what I'm used to paying on the east coast though, which is a plus.
Been going here for 1o years... dont care if they get a C... their dim sum is yummy!! I live 45 minutes away and willing to travel to eat there... Prices went up a little, but oh well.. still the best dim in Los Angeles area!!
Had our huge family banquet for a birthday party here recently.
It's a huge restaurant, and they recently renovated the place, so you would expect it to be cleaner. Sadly, a huge red C hangs above the door...so is the life of a Chinese restaurant.
Had the nine course meal shared amongst the table.
Appetizers were good, you can never go wrong with the jellyfish.
The cashew shrimp was a delight, very fresh shrimp and a nice sauce that complemented it well.
The shark fin (or imitation?) soup was a little bland; I've had better at different banquets.
Chips and roasted chicken was a huge disappointment. The skin was cooked well, but the chicken had no seasoning at all.
Sea cucumbers were too salty for our taste.
The lobster was well done, but came too late in the meal when people were mostly full.
It was noisy that night due to a wedding celebration. Overall, the food was OK. I expected the food to be prepared better because they were such delicacies. A good meal, but at prices we can only stomach once a year.
Not bad, not bad.
It's true the parking lot and restaurant are an utter circus of crowds and activity, but what good dim sum place -or anything Chinese -is not?
I think I like Ocean better, but this one is closer, and the parking is free, and I believe its significantly cheaper.
We got there around 1:00, had to wait about 15 minutes, but once seated, were promptly given hot tea. The cart ladies aren't as pushy as other places, but the language barrier is pretty thick. Actually, they are down right friendly, and their English is downright awful.
The only disappointment was that some of my favorites (har gow, shu mai, pork sticky buns, shrimp noodle) were out of rotation when we were eating, and since I'm such a piggy little dim sum monster, I made it up to myself by having everything else:
Seaweed salad, snow buns, some rice concoction wrapped in lotus leaf (it was bland, whatever it was) shrimp balls, pork(?) noodle, etc. Topped off with that coconut jello that I fantasize about in the months between dim sum visits.
Just as the hunny and I dragged ourselves out in a carb induced stupor, I saw the lids pop open and the coveted dim sum presented, but alas, it was far too late. Better luck to me next time. Or maybe I'll try being more assertive.
$30 for two hungry dim sum monster's first meal of the day
...not bad!
We managed to avoid the swarm of people on the weekend. We brought a rookie with us to Dim Sum. Her name is T and she is amazing! We got all kinds of things from pork something or another, and some shrimp goody things, and pastries with bbq, which was the best thing all day, and beef thingies, and tea, and dessert, and other stuff! It was all in Chinese and my girl did all the talking and I just ate what showed up.
All of it was pretty damn good, however when the bill arrived I was a little shocked. I know Dim Sum can be $$$ but heck, I didn't think we got that much.
Anyway, I would very much give it a 4 star on taste, but everybody seems to, so I'll knock it down to size for a 3 star because of the price. We will be coming back though... just not after 10 on a Sunday... 8-O
In my quest to try all the fabulous Chinese restaurants in the area, I tried this spot. I had a group of eight.. and we were seated promptly after 10 minutes. Amazing on a Sunday at 12:30 pm.
The dimsum was reasonably priced.. we were stuffed silly and only cost us around $11 per person with tip and tax. I think most of the dimsum is middle of the road. A lot of food coloring in their food.. esp their bbq pork buns and chicken with sticky rice... and not everything is hot (a lot is luke warm). The best thing they have is their shrimp dumplings... their pork and shrimp dumplings aren't so great. Or is their turnip cake. Not fried crispy enough. That is so important!
One down.. twenty left to go. :P
First of all the people giving the reviews cannot base NBC's rating or any restaurant on just one visit. Dim sum here is way better than the average place. Food comes out quickly, food is hot, price is good and if you don't see the item your looking for then ask! Duh!
I've been to many Dim Sum Places and this is my favorite so far. Of course everyone has their own definition of what great dim sum is. This is mine. This Dim Sum reminds of Dim Sum I find in SF and Sacramento.
We went here on a recommendation during lunch; "we" being a group of 12 students. It was thursday at noon and they were able to seat us right away in two large round tables. I liked how they had a simple picture menu that had all their dishes according to price. Each plate ranged from 5 to 13 dollars.
We ordered about everything on the menu, and everyone ate everything except the turnip and seafood cake. I don't know who the hell ordered that one! The food was good, I would consider it average- nothing in particular really popped at me.
The price was very good, it came out to about $12 a person including tip, and everyone left happy and full.
I've been to this restaurant twice since they recently changed hands. The restaurant name remains the same in English while they changed it in Chinese.
We made a reservation of 15, but we only got a regular round table reserved for us. It was on friday night of the Mother's Day weekend. There was another bigger round table that was vacant but they said it was reserved for someone else. We sat quite uncomfortably but we enjoyed their tasty food.
We went back again with a reservation of 13 last thursday night and we got a bigger table while the restaurant was about half full. Their food was delicious as usual. Their service was good which made our dinner quite enjoyable.
The most pressing question is will NBC still be able to serve dim sum despite the transition from Leno to O'Brien? Will Conan's giant head and scary orange hair block the carts, how will the girls get through?
Thankfully, evading Conan only requires a small amount of ingenuity and a very large comb. Despite our valid concerns, NBC Seafood Restaurant is thriving on all accounts with pure unaltered deliciousness. Not that I can claim to be a dim sum aficionado, hence four stars instead of five, but this was hands-down the best dim sum I've ever had.
It might have been our strategic table position near the cool kids cart club by the kitchen, but the service was lightning fast and excellent. You'd blink and the tea was refilled, table cleared, new plates set down, and you'd be surrounded by three carts with new goodies. I half expected someone to do some fancy smancy dining trick by pulling the tablecloth off so quickly that not-a-one thing moves....allow me, madam, shhhooom! Well, thank you, good sir, that tea stain was quite bothersome! Speaking of tea, the tea was godly and refilled about 100 times, and, yet, never lost it's flavor... I hope NBC continues to keep Conan's hair at bay and the carts a-coming.
I discovered NBC years ago when a friend brought me to dim sum at NBC. My good friend did all of the ordering in Cantonese and selected the ong choi dumplings, beef shu mai, shrimp dumplings, and har gow dumplings for us. Oh! It was heaven eating dim sum for breakfast. What a great tasting spread that was? The dim sum was delicate, soft and moist heaven. I loved the steaming hot containers carrying good dim sum.
NBC is packed most weekends at breakfast. There are long lines at NBC, where some times the line runs out to the parking lot. I know you dine here later in the day, the place is less crowded.
I enjoyed the dim sum at NBC. I have to drive to Monterrey Park for some good duck, red bean pastries and dumplings again. I miss that city.
I used to go to NBC often for dim sum. But that was before Empress Harbor, Ocean Star and Elite Restaurant. It's one of the oldest famous dim sum place in Monterey Park and most of the times you have to wait a long time to be seated. Personally their dim sum is greasier and its quality is not as good as the other 3 places I mentioned before. I have to say NBC has the best chicken feet though....the sauce is tastier than the other places. I don't eat chicken feet anymore because it grosses me out (the fat not the feet) now but if you are into that you should give NBC a try. The other thing I like here is the deep fried shrimp paste wrapped in seaweed.
Pricey! This place has jumped in price the past year, while the quality has remained the same (just so-so)
also, some of the workers are idiots (they wanted to split my part of 14 into a table of 12, and a table of 2...)
yes, they do give you 5 har gow, but it's 5 pieces of not-very good har gow (small shrimp, some with their intestines intact, and the wrapping falls apart too easily).
I'd much rather pay just a couple of bucks more at Seafood Harbor for much better quality dim sum.
This was my other go-to spot for dim sum before I discovered the other sites in Chinatown. This place can get really packed on the weekends, so it is advisable to come early like before 10A just to beat the crowds. Their dim sum is good, but the service can be spotty, depending on where you sit. One of their gimmicks is if you order the huge spider crabs in the front aquariums, have them cook it for you, they will put blink lights to show off to the whole restaurant. Pretty strange. The dim sum is not bad. When I am in the area and in the mood for dim sum, I'd still come here.
Came here for the dim sum with my family on a Sunday, it gets very crowded so come here early and hope for the best. Only been here twice, one time with each management.
-Interior
Typical dim sum joint; bustling, loud, and chinese waitresses pushing carts full of food and constantly asking if you want something. This place can hold a lot of people and I wouldn't be surprised if they held wedding receptions here because they have two large tables on a platform.
-Service
Dim sum service really depends on the rotation of the carts, sooner or later the cart with what you want will be coming around. If a cart is out of a certain type of foods then normally they'll go restock and make their rounds again. If you need water, soda, etc then ask one of the waiters; they're pretty good on keeping your teapots full.
-Food
Food here was pretty good, all the plates we ordered were freshly made and hot. If you don't know Chinese then you're screwed because you won't be able to order a lot or the workers might give you a cold shoulder.
Dim sum restaurants attract families on weekends like white on rice, if you're able to get reservations then set one up or else you might end up waiting for a while.
I ate here twice in one week! I'm new to dim sum, so most of the time I had no idea what it was I was eating, and as someone who doesn't eat meat that was a mammal or bird, I had to keep asking "what's in this again?" But man was it tasty. My sister, a veteran of dim sum, was my guide and showed me which dumplings and cakes I would like. Turns out, I'm a huge fan of turnip cake. Also, the coconut thing that reminded me of flan and the mochi was delicious. Then there's the pineapple buns, which is like Chinese pan dulce! mmmmmmmmmm! The service is kinda crazy... I recommend coming early, which is what we did the second time (the first time I went, it was so packed by noon that we ended up just getting food to go).
My grandparents loved this place we had plenty of food Shark fin soup special for 1.28 :P
