I found this place by meeting the owner(s) at the Little Italy Farmers Mkt (on Sat). Danny, one of the owners, is incredible. Super friendly, super knowledgeable.
The canned dog we I generally buy for my dog costs a fortune. And I've price-shopped EVERYWHERE.
So when I quietly stopped by this pet store booth and saw the specific canned dog food, Danny said 'i bet you my prices are WAY below what you're paying right now...'. I thought it was some sort of lame sales pitch so I sarcastically said 'yeah? REALLY? Humor me...'
And wow, his prices were unreal. He basically sold me the can for about .80 cheaper than what I've been purchasing at other stores (keep in mind that i have a big dog and buy 2 cases at a time SO the costs adds up!).
He didn't have enough cans on hand so he said if we stop by his Hillcrest store, he'd give us the same price on the cans (since he had some more cans at that location).
The store was small but well organized. They have the cutest old dog as their mascot there - Winnie? There was a mix up on the price of the dog food but Danny made sure to make things right the next time we saw him at the Lil Italy's Mercado.
If you spend alot of money on dog food , do yourself a favor, and see if this store carries your dogs fave brand. B/c I've already saved myself quite a bit! -

My first visit to Natural Pet on Washington went like this:
Me: I'm looking for dog food.
Staff: Ok, well let me show you what we have. Here is some really great cat food that I like.
Me: That's nice, but I'm looking for dog food.
Staff: Here's a bag of dog food, and here is some more cat food.
Me: Do you have any other dog food?
Staff: Here are some cat treats that I recommend.
Me: I'm looking for dog food. Do you have any small bites dog food?
Staff: Of course. Here is more cat food
Me: Thanks for you help, I'll continue looking on my own.
I eventually made my decision and moved to the register to pay for my goods. I handed him my debit card, and after 15 minutes of him trying to figure out the machine, (what looked like the owner/boss) walks in, takes over and has me out of there in 2 minutes.
I wanted to like this place, I really did, but my one experience was beyond frustrating. The place is extremely small, but carries some of the better brands of food. I'll come back if I have to, but I'll make sure to have cash on hand. Until then, my quest for a decent, local pet store continues...Comment from austin m. of Natural Pet 2/4/2010

A hidden gem for pet lovers who want the best. I still can't believe their prices are cheaper on the products I buy for my pug than Petco. Worth a trip I have not been to the other location yet but I will go soon.
