We selected the Nativo Lodge as something a bit different for our first night in New Mexico during July 2008. It was convenient enough to the Sunport and UNM, and sounded fun. The room was spacious and well-appointed, we had a marvelous balcony view of the Sandia Mountains (ask for a room facing the mountains), and we even enjoyed the looping Robert Mirabel show on TV.  We ate dinner and breakfast in the hotel restaurant and the food was fine.

Two small quibbles: when we arrived we found our room door seemingly stuck shut. A trip to the desk solved that - it turns out the door was difficult to open without leaning into it full-force. Some simple adjustments would have fixed that ahead of time. Secondly, there was a large family group staying across the hall from us and we could hear their kids at all hours. Otherwise I'd give Nativo Lodge four stars for the combination of price, location, very friendly service, and novelty.

All-in-all we enjoyed our stay and we'd probably go back.

I don't usually stay in larger hotels. I prefer boutique inns and b&bs, but this was one of the cheaper hotes I found in ABQ. It's not quite downton but its right off the high-way so it is convenient.

I'm writing this from the incredibly comfy bed (with snuggly suede comforter) on the free wi-fi. Parking is free, there's a pool and jacuzzi, lounge and breakfast buffet. The native theme borders on over the top, but for $80 a night, I'll take it.

I stayed here for two nights. I can't say anything about the value, because I didn't pay for it, but I can say:

The service was very good.

The room was comfortable and clean.

The balcony door never closed... but it was August so it wasn't that big of a deal. If it had been November I would've been pissed.

The shower was really dark. Like... really dark. There was a giant opaque shower curtain blocking all light. A bit of a challenge for leg-shaving.

The whole native theme was a little over the top - they were playing flute music this morning during breakfast. Some people will really dig it but I was a little like, "... is that... FLUTE music? I need more coffee."

I was really happy to find mints on the pillow when I got there. That was kind of awesome. And seriously the staff were all really, really nice. I just had to knock them back a star because that balcony door was really annoying.

They should really get that fixed.

I'm surprised the reviews of this hotel are in the 3-4 range. If it had cost about $50 less, I'd go ahead and give them 3 stars. But for $149.99/night, plus a rather absurd $50 non-refundable pet fee, it was not even close to worth it.

Sure, the service was friendly enough - and this one special they offer at their restaurant, "Indian Taco," was actually delicious. But were it not for the colorful paint on the building and the somewhat over-the-top southwestern theme, you wouldn't be able to distinguish this hotel from any much cheaper La Quinta, Holiday Inn Express, etc.

I have never stayed at a hotel with such thin walls. I could easily hear entire conversations and television shows from the room next door - and it wasn't worth complaining because I don't think the volumes were out of control - the walls just lack insulation. It also didn't help that we were on the first floor, which is a mix of conference rooms and of course the general lobby as well. This doesn't make any sense. Additionally, the low-flush toilets, designed to save water, actually defeat the purpose. They are so low-flush, you have to flush them like 2 or 3 times!

Unfortunately, this is one of the hotels that looks good from a far, but is really disappointing up close for the price you pay. I wanted to like it more - I'm sorry I didn't!

The Nativo Lodge was the last stop on our cross country drive.  It's located a bit north of Albuquerque which was further than we thought but it was close to the highway making it accessible to most things easily.  Our room was huge and appeared newly renovated.  However, the room came with a lot of moths.  My husband killed them all but when we mentioned them to the desk staff they seemed rather disinterested; they have a problem with moths apparently and they knew about it.

Be forewarned though - there was a large convention going on when we were there and the lobby was filled with people all day.  Sort of intimidating trying to get to your room.  But in true southwest fashion everyone was extremely friendly.

The breakfast buffet wasn't great, but it was included in the price of the room which was nice.

All in all it's a good place to stay if you're just passing through.  It's a step above your regular Hampton Inn type of place but it's not a resort.

My husband and I recently stayed at the Nativo Lodge for about a week. We had a great time at this hotel, there was a Native American theme in their spacious lobby with dream catchers on the walls, an enormous witch doctor sculpture and rust-toned adobe colors throughout, which gave it more character than other hotels in the area. The beds were incredibly comfortable, the rooms quiet and the service excellent. My husband recommends trying the breakfast burrito in their restaurant, although he said it was too big for one person. The only reason why I would give this hotel 4 stars instead of 5 is due to the fact that we didn't have any shower towels the first day we were there and no ironing board. Other than that. a perfect stay!
