3 reviews for National Civil War Museum the
National Civil War Museum. They display what happened on both sides, its a self guided tour that costs about 8 dollars per person without a coupon. They highlight weapons and equipments, have maps, battle diagrams, fort sumter, etc. Its supposed to be unbiased, but its alright. Located in Resevior Park with a great view of Harrisburg City.

We were pleasantly surprised by this museum. It covers, in a mostly un-biased way, the events that led up to the Civil War, the War itself and the after affects.
It is laid out very well and we particuarly enjoyed the displays covering the 'firsts' that occured during this time frame. We spent just about 3 hours here and managed to see and read everything we wanted to.
Here's a hint...the admission price is $8 per person. In the lobby of the museum is a rack containing brochures of surrounding attractions. One of these brochures is called 'Bargain Book'...it has a 2 for 1 coupon in it.
An excellent overview of both sides of the Civil War. More confederate artifacts than other northern museums. A good place to stop en route to Gettysburg.
