Nathan's is plain and simple unrefined awesomeness. Plus Nathan himself is such a great guy! The rest of the people that I've met that work here are such friendly people that it's hard to not strike up a conversation with them.
I wish that I could stock our gift shop where I work with all the fun things that Nathan carries. Go here if you want to find a full range of gifts. From fun and cute, to stylish and modern. Seriously. If you don't believe me go see for yourself.
This place is great! 5 of us came into the shop to get our Hella Love shirts and the two guys working in the store were great! They let us take over the store and kept bringing us sizes until we were satisfied.
Not only that, they have some of the best cards I have ever seen! They were hillarious! Can't wait to go back
Whenever I need a special gift, I always go to Nathan's and I always buy something for myself too. I mean, who can resist with an inventory to die for and the wonderful personalities that work there and make the shopping fun.
My favorite thing that I bought there, a bright Tepper Jackson wallet, gets compliments every time I pull it out.

what an awesome store. I came in here looking for the "I hella love Oakland" shirts, and I discovered so much more! I didn't ask, but the gentleman that met me must have been Nathan. He was very nice and helped us find exactly what we were looking for. Everything in here is very cute and unique. I could probably spend hours in here looking at all the trinkets. And nathan was even sweet enough to nicely wrap our shirts in a cute gift bag, with tissue!! To be honest, I was just expecting some sort of plastic bag. But for him to really go out of his way to make sure you are happy says a whole lot! Love this place!

I don't have a lengthy review of this business, it simply is not necessary. Nathan & Co is the perfect place to go for a unique and thoughtful last minute gift. I have never been able to walk in and just look. I always leave with something, usually for others, but I have found nice things for myself as well.
This store consistently has a wide variety of delightful little trinkets, decorative items, hilarious cards and interesting books. It is a one-stop gift shop with a wide spectrum of quality gift items. The staff is helpful and fun without being invasive, and they will kindly wrap any gift items for all those of us like myself, who are often times in a hurry.

Great store for gifts and hilarious decor. The buyer for this store must be the coolest. I was sucked into this store the moment I saw it, and ended up getting a gift for my friends. I'm sure I'll be hitting this store again before the holidays. Their stuff is awesome!!!!

Attention legit and wannabe Oakland lovers: get your "I Hella Heart Oakland" shirt here! Not the knockoffs on the street corner during Lake Merrit Farmer's Market! Not the knockoffs from Cafe Press. But the legit hellalove.com t-shirts. Ok, now buy one for all your friends who make fun of you for living in Oakland. And the woman who works here is an absolute doll. She's totally into hearing you make fun of your friends who make fun of you for living in Oakland and she'll return the favor. Yep, it is now safe to say that the self-proclaimed "suburban hellraiser" got urbanized!

I LOVE NATHAN AND I LOVE HIS STORE. This is the kinda place that makes me say, 'Oh I want a cool funky store crammed with fun stuff!'. I loved pretty much every item in the store, from the fun cocktail party conversation book to the awesome modern baby gifts to the 'I hella love Oakland' tshirt I am proudly sporting at this very moment.
The staff was helpful, warm and fun without being intrusive, and they do a great job of wrapping gifts. I plan to make this my first stop for gifts for the cool folks in my life (myself included!)
UPDATE: I have now been in on a Saturday (it was my first choice destination when I realized I needed both thank you cards and a swanky cool present for a very cool guy). Nathan himself mans the shop on Sats and he is not only welcoming and helpful with a sharp designer's eye, he is adorably charming and fun to chat with. He also bends over backwards to help his customers find just the right item - He pretty much pulled out every single card from the backroom to help me find the perfect thank you cards!
Extra plus - he welcomed the pupster with open arms and a little treat.

Nathan, what can I say...you have an eye for home decor and furnishings and funky unique gifts matched w/ a genuine charm and open-arms cozy welcome to your store...this store stimulates all 5 senses!!!!! love the soy candles, paintings, clocks, wine accessories, towels, serving dishes/platters, adorable and practical rompers/onesies w/ mix and match gorgeous and practical magnetic baby bibs, stylish jewelry, coasters, holiday cards, thank you cards....cards for any occasion...Paris Eiffel Tower decor, sexoholic books, Hella Love Oakland t-shirts...endless creativity and such depth that ranges from babies to the young at heart...this store has everything to treat yourself to , your love ones, co-workers, and pets...treats for the body...treats for every room in your house....it's unique locally designed Oakland goodies to cookbooks from all over the world--fondue, Spanish tapas, grilling, SF eateries.....I was particularly drawn to the Moroccan scented candles and Love My Penis chewing gum....I love the baby gift section including adorable stuffed animals and clothes..this is a one stop shop for everyone!!....can't wait to go back... Well worth the drive from SF....ohh---did I mention gift wrap!! LOVE this store and find Nathan adorable too!!! Thank you Nathan & CO

Okay the truth is...I think this is the only place you can buy something "modern and cool" on this shopping street. Sometimes you just want a little more than "antique and vintage" (ie: OLD).....call me crazy. It's new and great for gifts or just anything. I just stopped in a bought a bunch of stuff for friends that are moving across the country.Thanks goodness for Nathan's.

What a fun store! I discovered it before Christmas. Everything I gave from Nathan & Co. was a hit! I went in last weekend for a Valentine's Day present for my boyfriend...WOW! What cool stuff! I ended up getting him some beautiful bath products (yeah...he's sorta one of those metro sexual guys)...with a really sweet, but kinda nasty V-Day card. But I really wanted to get him the crazy-cool cuff links...unfortunately he wouldn't "get it!" At the same time - I found piles of stuff that I needed (well - actually just wanted!). The place is tiny - but well put together. They've got hot home decor (I've bought a mirror and a lamp), gorgeous stationery, unusual art jewelry and a fantastic assortment of candles. Plus - the cards...from tasteful and sweet to just right down funny (kinda nasty too). This is a really cool store. I love this place and the staff is attentive, fun and very helpful. Oh one last thing - Nathan & Co. rocks with the courtesy gift wrap...which is really a great touch. Everytime I'm in there - I feel like I'm back in Manhattan! Wthout hesitation...FIVE stars!

I am obsessed with this store. It's tiny - but full of well thought out items. It's always changing too. They have great candles, an array of stuff for your home or apartment - like lamps, mirrors, art. They also support local artists and designers which gives this place a unique flair. We have had a lot of gifts to buy lately and Nathan & Co. has always had the right gift at the right price. They are also hella nice too...they are local and really truly LOVE Oakland. So much that you can get the "I Hella Heart Oakland" t-shirt there...plus they've got a great selection of local cookbooks too. I recently bought an awesome mirror which we saw in the window after dinner at Bay Wolf. I bought it as a surprise for my other half...when they found out it was a gift...they went all out and gift wrapped it beautifully. At no extra charge! It's a cool little store and is the perfect addition to one of Oakland's best streets. Oh...one last thing...they're open late on Fridays! So - when you're waiting for your dinner reservations or unwinding after a great dinner at Cesar or Jojo - this is a sweet place to hang.
