Narrow Gate winery has certainly been blessed by the beings of the empyrean. Secluded in the quiet vales of El Dorado County (where the wind softly whispers through the twisting vines), the winery produces wonderful nectar - Bacchus himself would be intoxicated on the beautifully balanced, and crafted wine vinted and vinified by Frank and Teena Hildebrand, winemakers and winery owners that have been graced with the supernatural gift of coaxing the juicy, minerally quality of El Dorado itself out of the grapes . Make the pilgramage to this holy haven of heavenly potables - you will be glad you did.
I recommend, highly, their 2007 Primitivo. Yumville, USA...population 1.Listed in: Wine Wandering

I really wanted to love this place because the reviews are good and one of my friends enjoys this place.
My hubby and I visited last week and it was crowded. The pours were so tiny I had a difficult time tasting the wine. The chardonnay seemed good.
As I looked around I noticed other people were getting better pours and more attention. My husband was in the wine business for years and loves to talk wine. We also love to buy wine. I was sad to leave without any wine from here especially because I had such high hopes. Maybe it was an off day, not sure if I would go back? -

This is one of my girlfriend and I's favorite vineyards. Wine tasting here is great. Their staff are very friendly and down to earth. Their wine list is really good with a lot of variety. Their dessert wines are amazing. I love their port, and their Chocolate Splash is awesome too.
They also have some great events. Wine and food pairing is March 19th. I hope I can make it! -

So we just completed another fantastic day of wine tasting! the winery we chose to have our lovely picnic at was Narrow Gate Vineyards! We tasted all their delicious wines, I think there was about 8 of them & our group decided on the Melange de Sol Blanc to purchase for our lunch! The wine did not disapoint! It was crisp & flavorful but not over powering. It went perfectly with out potluck icnic that we all pulled together!
All the wines Narrow Gate offers are affordable & quite palatable! The sommeliers were both very knowledgable & friendly making it a winery I would soon visit again! -

This place rocks! The owners, Frank and Teena, are such good people that take pride in their business and product. Frank is a patient guy who will talk to you about the wine making process (I even had a conversation with him about fertilizing the vineyard).
All of the wines show an attention to detail, and this is one of my favorite wineries!
If you go....you have to ask for the Splash!...it is a port infused with chocolate. Whenever I bring this to a party, people are instantly a fan of it! -

What a lovely place! Tina, one of the owners was there and gave us great service as did Teresa who is new. This was the third time I had been to Narrow Gate but this time I came with a wine club member and Tina remembered her name and was so gracious to all of us. AND, the wine was delish! Take a beautiful drive up to Narrow Gate and check them out!

First time visitor to El Dorado AVA, and this place ensured I'll be back. Great service, they even showed the GF and I the bins of fermenting grapes, and let us take a grape to taste from it.
As for the wine, the regular labels were good, but where they really shined was with their estate label (I think it was $3 to try the 3 they were serving, the regular label tasting was free). The Estate Syrah/Viognier sounded odd, but had the most amazing bouquet, and the Primitivo and Dunamis are not to be missed.
I had a hard time deciding which to get, and although I'm not a club member, I proposed to buy all 3 if they cut me the 10% club discount and they obliged. -
