Seriously though, best Italian sammich I've ever eaten was at this place. I seriously wish they'd open one of these spots in Tampa. I'd gain so much weight. When you bite into one of their Italian grindahs, you can taste each of the individual meats, and the provolone cheese is so sharp, it will cut your tongue. And the bread... Goodness, you just can't get bread like that south of the Mason-Dixon Line.
If you're unfortunate enough to live in this underwhelming city, you can at least be proud of one thing--NARDELI'S. -

They know how to build a grinder! It can be a bit overwhelming your 1st time as there are so many choices & the customers are regulars- they are decisive & quick about ordering. Take your time to peruse the menu rather than being hasty & miss something you later wish you hadn't!
The rolls are very fresh, the mix of onions, cucumbers, oregano, s & p , oil & vinegar mix that they add to your grinder is a must! As are the hot peppers if you like it a bit spicy.
The cold cuts & cheeses are fresh, sliced to order & piled nicely onto your grinder. I only had a cold grinder served on butcher's paper, w chips & a Snapple. I have not had any of the hot grinders, salads or other choices or any of the sides showcased in front of the deli but I won't hesitate next time.

I go here at least once a week, because they make my favorite sandwiches in CT.
My personal favorites are the Italian combo and the American combo, which give you a ton of meat and cheese on great Italian bread, and the excellent pepper mix is unbeatable. I wish I could get that stuff at every sandwich shop. The warm turkey club is also a great choice, with tons of gooey goodness.
My one warning is that things can get a bit pricey if you don't take care, but everything is good so I usually just accept it.
And be sure to give a tip to hear the shout of "Grazie!" -

Large beautiful deli case is pretty much the first thing you see on the way in the door...hard to imagine more good looking deli stuff in one place. Place is well lit, warm and the folks are attentive.
I had the Proscuitto Hot Pepper Chicken grinder, a cup of fruit salad, and more birch beer.
Sandwich is delivered wrapped in butcher paper. Bread is fresh, warm, and crusty, just as it should be. Sandwhich was tasty. Half was just right. Fruit good, but the regular stuff. I have decided after trying twice, I love birch beer.
Great hot and cold sandwich menu. Will have to try the salad next time based on other reviews...na, hot grinder. -

Got the Italian grinder after seeing it on the travel channel. My girlfriend asked for no onions, which is a big mistake. The onions are mixed in with a type of Israeli salad that goes on it. Mine was with everything and was great. Make sure you get everything on it!

Another great find in Naugatuck! I am obsessed with Nardellis. They are an Italian style deli, and I believe they have 3 locations in Connecticut. Their grinders are phenomenal, so fresh, and the bread is delicious. Their salads are huge, and they put lots of veggies in them and grilled chicken if you ask for it. They also have really good pasta salads, like their cavatelli and broccoli and tortellini salad. Oh, and I recently went to a party and didn't have time to bake, so I stopped here and bought 1/2 dozen cannoli. TO DIE FOR. Probably the best cannoli I have ever had. They also make a cheesecake burrito which I have yet to try. It actually has a money back guarantee. The staff is really friendly. They have places to sit. Go here if you are in the area. If you like big Italian grinders you will not be disappointed.

Not a huge fan. The rolls are good but much of the food taste processed to me. If they used Boars Head deli meat it would be a great improvement.
