Napa definitely has higher quality parts than Schmucks; the clerks tend to know more about automobiles and their respective parts. I usually buy my more important replacement parts here.
This Saturday I had a snarly clerk (A***e) give me a bad time about returning my 6mth old battery, well within the 3 yr warranty, and with a receipt. Since this battery didn't immediately pop up on her screen as the most common replacement for my vehicle, she assumed that I purchased the wrong battery.
Well they didn't have any problem selling me that battery that costs twice as much as a basic replacement to begin with. I wanted the most stout, rugged battery that I could buy for the application.
Positives- above average quality parts
Negatives- attitude problems with some of the sales clerks
Your average auto parts store. The employees tend to know more then Shucks or Autozone and the parts are usually better quality. I usually try to go there before one of the others but sometimes they just don't have a big enough stock of parts to keep me from driving to Shucks.
I needed a headlight bulb for my newer VW and they didn't have ANY. I am picky about headlights as I like to see the road and usually buy the expensive ones but they did not even have a basic bulb to keep me legal : (
On the plus side you can pick up used coveralls there and a lot of things for commercial vehicles. When needed something for one of the work trucks we have never been let down. I will keep going there for things as I know they can't have all the parts all the time.
