I've been to Nan King a few times for lunch and dinner. This full service Chinese restaurant serves up Cantonese, Szechuan, Polynesian, and American cuisine and 22 Luncheon Specials ($3.95-$8.35/Mon-Sat until 3PM) and 9 Special Combination Plates are offered. Also, a daily Lunch Buffet is offered until 2PM.

For takeout, I've had good luck with the lunch specials and the food comes out hot and fresh. I enjoy ordering Lunch Special No. 16 ($5.75): Pork Lo Mein served with Pork Fried Rice, Egg Roll, and 2 Chicken Teriyakis is a good sized portion and the food is tasty. The lo mein noodles are soft with roast pork strips, sprouts, & onions. The pork fried rice (brown color) is mixed with roast pork cubes (some fat pieces) and fried onions. The chicken teriyaki sticks are are thick and tender and the egg roll is stuffed with minced cabbage, ground pork & seasonings with a slight sweet flavor.

For lunch, the buffet is a good value which offers over 30 items ($6.50 Mon-Sat/$7.50-Sun) including fried foods (egg roll, spring roll, fish sticks, pizza rolls, fries, onion rings, crab rangoon, chicken fingers, peking ravioli), chicken teriyaki, lobster sauce, pork egg foo young, pork lo mein, pork chow mein, chicken sub gum chow mein, pork fried rice, white rice, mixed vegetables, soups (egg drop, hot & sour), and desserts (fruit, jello, brownies, fortune cookies, hard ice cream). The food on the buffet is nothing outstanding, and sometimes not hot and just lukewarm and the items are not replenished towards the end of buffet service. On a plus note, they had fresh pineapple on the buffet.

NOTE: I am only able to comment on the restaurant's buffet.  I haven't ordered anything off the menu here in years.

For about the price of a large value meal at any of the major fast food chains (at lunch time anyway), you've got yourself a fairly decent buffet here.  The selection isn't as big as those at places that are just buffets without a menu, but it is definitely larger than that at many full restaurants that also have buffets.

The selection is a little bit bland in the sense that a significant majority of the items on the buffet are all things that would be found in the "appetizers" section of the menu.  There are only 3-4 of the higher quality entree-section items, and of the ones of these I've tried, they're not that great.  The general tso's chicken is decent quality meat but the sauce is just so-so, and not really spicy in the least.

While I've cited that this buffet's appetizer majority is a disappointment on one level, it is also where they excel.  One or two standout items can really make or break an otherwise so-so buffet, and Nan King has two such items: their pork spare ribs and their dumplings are really superb.  Being used to the really thin, really fatty, small piece spare ribs you get at most places, Nan King's really stand out.  They are huge pieces that you absolutely need to cut smaller, and they are astonishingly non-fatty as far as that particular dish is concerned.  The dumplings are large, flavorful, don't fall apart like most do as soon as you cut into them, and are very well breaded.  While most items on the buffet are bland and forgettable, I would come back sometime just for the dumplings.

All in all this buffet's a good value with overall so-so food but a few very good items, and so far as I've yet been able to tell, unlike certain just-buffet establishments, it doesn't make you feel ill.

Chinese restaurant with a added bar both open wicked late. Whenever I come home late I can always stop and get some food. The bar is absolutely annoying! Every night is karaoke night. Just picture a room full of drunks who don't sing well sober much less drunk...

Food and drinks moderately priced. The karaoke is this places only downfall otherwise this place would be great.

They get 5 stars for the quality of their food and excellent customer service.  I used to go there all the time when I used to live in NH.  Their staff was always extremely friendly and I never ate a bad meal there.  If you live up in that area, I highly suggest trying out Nan King.  The inside of the restaurant is rather plain, but that's what take-out is for.  When I visit family at home, I always try to make a stop here.

The first thing that comes to my mind when I think of the Nan King.   Do I need to work tomorrow?   If I'm going to the Nan King the answer is, hopefully no, because I am going to be hammered drunk.   That is the only way to truly enjoy the Nan.    I've never been to the Nan during daylight hours.  The food is not worth it.  The food is found most enjoyable only during "drunk munchies.  The food is a last resort situation only though.  If you go to the Nan it is for the Night entertainment.  It is always has a handful of locals hanging out having a great time.  If for some reason you grow tired of the seventies styled bar and the few arcade games behind you.  You can make your way to the back of the room to hit the stage and make your great debut on the Nan Karaoke.  Which is a must.  If you put on a good enough performance you could have just earned yourself a free drink at the bar from an impressed patron.  Welcome that drink because you will be parched especially after you kill that encore.  All said and done you'll find yourself having a great time and boy does time fly.  You may find your self having such a great time you could be there hours later than last call.  Making sure you have a cabs number written on you hand before you you enter the building is highly recommended.
