26 reviews for Naimie's Beauty Center
One of Naimie's Beauty Center's Favorite Reviews What's This?
Now, I can't vouch for customer service, as I am a make-up artist and prefer to pull product myself. As far as selection goes, they really do have everything. It's kind of like a make-up department on steroids. They have a wide array of brands ranging from popular consumer brands such as Bobbi Brown, NARS, Stila and MAC- they also carry a few lesser known brands that are spectacular, such as Lise Watier and Julie Hewitt. If you get a chance to check out naimie's, don't be intimidated. However, if you are the type of person that is expecting Nordstrom caliber service, free makeovers and free gifts with purchase, you are better off going to a Sephora. While Naimie's is consumer friendly, it is a professional beauty supply.
On the professional side, I'm a fan of the layout of the pro area. Everything is organized very well and things are easy to find and the guys that run studio services are always very helpful.

Ok so I read the reviews and was prepared for-- steller selection and crappy service. So how'd they fair -- steller selection and pretty good service, that was until I got to the counter and the cashier chick acted like she couldn't be bothered to give me the same treatment as the lady in front of me. I had to prompt her on getting my info as to add me to their database. You would think in this day and age u would want to hold onto your customers. I guess she felt I wasn't that great of a customer. Mind you dropping $100 on some antibacterial and mini shampoos seems like a big deal to me. Oh well next time maybe I'll just ask for a ton of help and buy NOTHING. Hmmmm just a thought.
Just remember good selection inconsistent service.
This place is awesome!!! I have vitiligo (skin disorder michael jackson has) and am sometimes (alright most of the time) too self conscious to go without at least covering up the spots around my eyes. I mean dark circles on white i mean WHITE no pigmented skin doesn't make for a nice look... so i get concealer here. It's more expensive then say max factor but it lasts a lot longer, i don't have to use as much and it's light and airy feeling when it's on. Sometimes i'll even pony up for powder from here but not all the time.
Also they have the nars lipstick pencils that are AMAZING! you can apply it and like 6-8 hours later it's still there! i usually put my beloved burt's bees wax on first so my lips are nice and soft then apply the lipstick and seriously i've gone all day at work never reapplied even ate lunch and it was still on and looking good!
I usually get eye lash curlers and make up brushes here too. They are good quality and it's easier to get one good one to last for a while then 5 or 6 cheap ones that break or even worse rip out all your lashes!!!

I usually go to Naimie's to get special shampoo because it's convenient and I know they have what I want. My problem is the stuck up women who work there act like they're doing me a favor by helping me, when they finally get off their ass and stop doing everything they can possibly do but acknowledge my presence.
I know I'm not buying a $1000+ hair piece or an overpriced flat iron, but would it kill them to take the 30 seconds to get the shampoo out of the case without sighing and moaning?
On Saturday I actually had to point out the shampoo 4 times and kept telling her the name of it, and she kept grabbing the wrong one. It's not rocket science. I'm sure a 5 year old would have been of greater help. Then she refused to even ring me up and told me I had to go across the hallway and have the (very pleasant) man ring me up.
Next time I'm going to Cinema Secrets. I'm done with the attitude.

CONS- the basic supplies for makeup artists, hair professionals, etc are expensive.
PROS-they have the dopest products. their buyer did a great job. they have the essentials ... japonesque, kryolan, ben nye, and all the lil goodies and compartments for makeup artists.
naime is a sephora for me, only better

This is the only place I'll go for a wax.
Susanna is the best, she makes you feel comfortable and does a great job.
Their stuff is kind of expensive and the spa isn't cheap. but I'm willing to pay a bit more for the awesome quality of service.
The only downside is that their shop girls have a bit of an attitude problem, as if they would only prefer to talk to makeup artists and if you show up without your full face on , they either glare at you or completely ignore you.
Oh well, you can't have everything..
Hate talking about beauty products, but I hoard them like there's no tomorrow. Why? I've worked in the beauty industry for many years, and got so sick of it. The only thing I liked was all the free crap vendors bestowed upon me. I have Rubbermaid bins and shopping bags full of shet. It appears as though I have landfills of samples. If you didn't know me well, then you would think I rob cosmetic counters.
I had a love affair with Naimies during my Sephora employment days in Sherman Oaks. It's strange that I can actually loathe Sephora and marvel over Naimies goods. I first heard of Naimies during my NYC days. My makeup artist friend told me she ordered her supplies from Naimies in Cali. Then when I spotted this treasure trove in porn valley, I had to take a gander. It's a fun place...as if I wasn't up to my eyes in beauty products 40 hours a week... Naimies would be my first stop for more beauty junk if I still live in porn valley. It's one of the very few places in the country that still sell one of my fav fragrances.
I still loathe Sephora a little. Yeah, go ahead and call me names. You haven't been in my shoes, so I don't give a crap.

Naimie's is scary good. It's a self-care beauty haven. The salon is full of amazingly talented people. I refuse to go to anyone but Ron for a cut, style, or color. My husband had his long hair docked by Erika, and she's been his hairdresser ever since. Susie in the spa waxes artistically, ad amazingly manages to make you ignore pain, if there even is any.
Then there's the store. Make up, hair products, skin products nail products, fx make up products, wigs, hair mechanicals, aroma therapy-all set up with the professional in mind, but open for anyone to buy!
Everyone who works there is wonderful and helpful, and Naimie himself is usually around somewhere.
Heck, richies and celebs sneak over the hill to secretly get pampered at Naimie's!

Most everything I'm looking for where beauty and skin care and hair tools are concerned...relaxed, pro atmosphere...oodles and oodles of good brands in stock.
I'm trying to think: what's the difference between this place and Cinema Secrets? But my mind's drawing a blank...perhaps someone else can pick up on this point.
I'm a huge fan of both places and usually get great service each visit.
Seriously: I don't go anywhere else except Naimies, Cinema Secrets and Trina's for ethnic specifics (though I must check out Friends I hear!), when I need beauty and hair products anymore...why waste time?

Love, thy name is Naimie.
There are three categories in most every woman's beauty regimen:
A) Hair Care
B) Skin Care
C) Beauty Products
Naimie's covers all three of these with such glory that honestly it's hard for me to step in there without dropping at least 100 each time.
Want a brand new makeup line that is Canada's answer to MAC? Check.
Want that colorless setting powder you saw your makeup artist using on set the other day that made you look flawless? Check.
Want that pimple cream that looks like calamine lotion but heals those suckers so fast it's sick? Check.
Did I mention the store also carries all kinds of skincare like Kiehl's, haircare like Bumble and Bumble and makeup like MAC? It's like Sephora and department stores all rolled into one with very knowledgeable and helpful staff. The prices are not jacked up either, in fact I wonder if they are not even a bit lower since it's more of an "industry" store.
I brought my mom here who was visiting from FL and she had a couple of random things she was looking for and our salesman Henry knew exactly where to go and what to get us. (secret between you and me, he gave my mom one of the tote bags they were selling for 40.00 - he says they give them away to all the make up students so why not her too?? that is how cool he is)
Bonus Taco! SAG members get a discount too.
Be careful though -- Once you start a relationship with Naimie's I promise you that you too will fall in love and if you aren't ready for that....

If there was ever a beauty supply that deserved to be reviewed it would be Naimie's.
Now YELPers, some people are wine aficionados I am a hair care products aficionado. Sending me into Naimie's is like dropping a wino off at a wine tasting. You are just asking for trouble.
There are plenty of beauty supplies all over town, after all, this is L.A. Save yourself the driving around and go to Naimie's first (at least call to see if they carry the product you want).
Selection & Service: Naimie's has the finest selection of any beauty supply I have yet seen in any city. If there's something you've read about and are just itching to try, they will cheerfully get it in for you. These people treat you as though you matter- even if they've never seen you before.
The sales folk here are knowledgeable, courteous and a pleasure to deal with. I have very curly hair. I love products that make it smooth, manageable and cause it to shimmer. Their staff has lots of product knowledge (particularly considering the terrific selection).
The spa is fun and convenient. I didn't even care to dock them for the evident joy my waxing lady seemed to take at my pain. The selection is seriously that good.
A nice plus: they cheerfully extend a discount if you're a member of SAG and undoubtedly other unions as well. Pretty nice!
Parking is in a private lot and is ample. BTW, as God is my witness, Madonna was pulling out of their lot the last time I cruised in. Like I always say: if it's good enough for Madonna, it's good enough for me!
Might I suggest you clip on down and across the street for a snack at Hugo's after your shopping spree. Fun!

When I first came here I saw a building that quite frankly, spoke of Las Vegas Wedding Chapel. I didn't want to get married, I just wanted some professional makeup! Once you get in though, you see they've really got a ton to offer. Downstairs there's a wig shop and day spa and a really big autographed photo of Racquel Welch here. Guess she's a big wigger.
Once you go upstairs, you see the megaplex and then understand why so many of Hollywood's best makeup artists shop here. It's loaded with lots of stuff you won't just find at Target or Sally Beauty Supply. More importantly the staff really knows what they're talking about. These are no wannabe actors doing this to make a quick buck to pay the rent. There's also a hair salon upstairs too so this makes this a pretty good one-stop for all sorts of beauty needs or in my case, things I needed for a comedic presentation.

Naimie's has a retail store, hair salon, day spa, wig studio, nail salon, studio services and order department, and petting zoo. This store offers an outstanding range in beauty lines, from popular (like MAC) to obscure (such as Japonesque), and is especially well-geared for models, makeup artists, hairstylists, actors, and beauty product enthusiasts.
If you can't find what you are looking for, ask for assistance--they might be able to locate or special order the item.
You have the option of shopping online, but the selection is severely limited, as the website is rather underdeveloped. I highly recommend visiting the retail store in person.
According to their website, "Naimie's Beauty Center is one of the world's leading suppliers of beauty products to the entertainment industry."
Summary:
Friendly service
Knowledgeable staff
Free parking with street parking available
Wide selection
Logical store design
Well Stocked
Reasonable prices
Ask about discounts, since I believe they offer them to members of certain unions (e.g., SAG).
Ok, I made up the petting zoo part. Well, I thought it was funny! They don't have that, but they have everything else--what more could you ask for from a beauty store? Step into this store and find yourself in makeup heaven. Or, to put it more crudely, Naimie's is a makeup lover's wet dream.

This place is pretty huge! The people who work here are great-very helpful and willing to go the extra mile to get you what you're looking for, not just whatever similar item they could try to sell you. When I was looking for a hair gloss they were sold out of the lady helping me special ordered it for me and was very friendly in addition to helpful.
They carry quality brands and have the space to offer more than a lot of the typical beauty supply shops. I travel from across the valley to come here because the selection is so extensive.
Great!
1) Private parking lot
2) Huge building (for LA)
3) Friendly service (for LA)
4) Great variety of products, including Bumble & Bumble.
5) Reasonable prices
I can't comment on the salon, but the beauty supply is great. They have Ben Nye, Nars, Japonesque, OPI... pretty much everything. And stuff you didn't know existed. The one big problem is the service. Their staff is snooty and apathetic. Expect to be ignored. And there are no sales here, not that I've ever seen. It's worth the drive from Long Beach, IMO.

this place is great if you know what you want . the people are not very helpful!! i have wondered around for over 25 min with out having some one come up to me & asking me for help. also if you go down stairs they have an FX Lab also known as studio services.
if your a student you get a 15% discount and if your a MUA you only get 10% kind of stupid . i think i should be the other way around!!!
i think they are more expensive than cinema secrets.
they do always have parking,

I stepped into Naimie's Beauty Supply today for the first time in over 15 years. The last time I shopped at Naimie's was back in the late 90's when they were in North Hollywood. The new store is now located in Sherman Oaks on Riverside Drive. The store has gone from a little corner store to a huge two story building. I think it used to be an office building and is now a huge lofty store One this hasn't changed is the selection of products!! There's so much to look at!! Now they've included MAC, Kiehls, Bobby Brown and any other name brand your looking for at a slightly higher price. They still sell old favorites like Bill Nye which is great. The one thing that unfortunately stood out to me was the HORRIBLE service though. The sales girl had a terrible attitude, like I was bothering her from standing there looking up at the ceiling and I walked around looking confused for at least 10 min before I finally got her attention. The cashier wasn't any better. I was glad to get the heck out of there! I was happy with my purchase, but probably wont be back. I can order things without the attitude online.

The Costco of Beauty supplies!! This place is massive. If you don't find it, good luck! They have a salon inside for hair and body/skin. Nice location, it's kind of hidden.

Very cool store. I little bit of every line any MUA uses, that are department store quality...not to mention a great Ben Nye counter!

So everyone has already gone on and on about how awesome the hair and beauty supply is (by the way, ask for Henry, he knows EVERYTHING), so I'll skip that. In addition to shopping there, I get my hair done there too. Ron, the salon manager, is the best. I've been seeing him for about 7 years now and I wouldn't dream of going elsewhere! I get many comments about my hair from strangers asking who does it, what color is that, etc. Ron Soto is the best. If you're looking for a color specialist, go see him! Just don't take my appointment time! =)

Just went to Naimie's yesterday. Desperate for a corrective color consultation- Henry lived up to his reputation- recognized the problem and advised colorist, Ingrid on the procedure. A total success! Ingrid is a pro and made every effort to ensure my satisfaction and keep the cost down! Followed up with a fantastic personal make-up consult with Henry who selected great products (within my minimalist budget in mind) and included samples of higher priced products
I love the relaxed un-pretentious atmosphere and great selection.
Great selection, good service. I still prefer Frend's for all my MUA stuff, but for straight beauty stuff Naimie's is great.
two words: totally. rude.

For a professionals, this place is ok. Nothing amazing but better then most beauty supplies. Often then not they don't have what i want. I think better for makeup artists then hairdressers.Friends Beauty supply near there is much better. If they do not have it, they will order it and they are much more knowledgeable.
