No plans to ever going back.

Me & my friend wanted a relaxing day so we planned a facial and a massage.  It's near the place we wanted to eat and they had last min openings so we thought why not.  Now I see why....

My gf's "Yonka" facial was $80.  The lady, who's also the owner asked "you want me to fix your eyebrows?"
She thought it was part of the package since most facials she had gotten included the eyebrows so she said sure.
Well she waxed them and charged her $15 on top.
Facial was "okay" only.  She had plenty of better ones and for someone that claims they've done this for 20 years sure didn't act like it.

I got a massage.  There are 6 rooms there and one couple's room.  It was nice and private.  The massage therapist Holly was super nice & sounds honest.  She was pretty good and I would go back to her but the owner pretty much sealed the deal of no returning customers here.

I have only gotten the Spa pedicure and the Orange Peel done there...and have been happy all 3 times I have been there. The owner is always nice, offers me coffee, tea or water. Nice massage too. I see other people hate it there but I have nothing but good to say about them. Love it!

I found this place shortly after they opened as a walk in with my girlfriends.  We are regular pedi girls and we loved it!  It was so clean and decorated tastefully.    The owner really works hard to make sure that the spa stays clean and friendly.

We have all been to those places where you feel like the workers are talking about you in another language but they work hard to talk to you instead of around you here.

I am now a regular here - I get acrylic nails and eyebrow waxing.   I have been tempted by the facials and massage treats as well but I already spend my budget on these "necessities".   I noticed other clients say that they have had trouble getting cuts during manicures - not sure I have tough skin or what but I have had no problems with that.

It looks like a salon that is more expensive than it really is - clean, friendly and although not the cheapest place around, reasonably priced. My only complaints are the  MUSAK and the high pressure sales.  I am now a regular client so I can take it in stride.  These two things are why the -1 star.

WAY over-priced! And the lady that did my nails didn't speak english very well so we had a hard time understanding each other. She cut the edge of my cuticle and it started to bleed and she said it was from the buffet, which IT WASN'T, it was clearly from the little mechanical filing thing (idk, what it's called). Anyway, she basically made it seem like it wasn't her fault. There are a few sweet people here, but some of them are weird. And my girl was just, ugh idk.. I just couldn't understand her.

Okay Nail Nook. I really hate to do this, but you just dropped two stars. You've burned me for the last time. Literally.

On two different occasions, you've either burned me with your hot wax for my eyebrows, or you have literally grabbed the end of a hair and pulled as slowly and as excruciatingly painful as possible, even though I asked you kindly to please pull the hair out quickly, like any normal person. Plus, you wanted me to rest my head on a nasty towel that was stained to all hell, and then tried to explain that it was the seaweed in the facials you give. How about... using a set of towels for the seaweed facials and allow them to get nasty -- and use a clean, non-scary set for everything else?

It sucks, because you're close to my house, and I like how I can just walk in without an appointment, but my love affair with you is over. I'm tired of coming out of there feeling like I got my ass kicked, instead of feeling relaxed.

I still like your massage chairs, though.

May I direct all Yelpers to Zaza's near Kohl's.

I came in here after lunch on a Monday afternoon for a manicure because my usual place, Zaza Nail Spa, was closed that day. I had been to the Milpitas location before and I was satisfied with their services.

This location was very clean and decently staffed for this time of the day with 4 employees.

Picking out a color was hard as they didn't have very many natural colors to choose from (I was looking for a clearish pink color). I waited for about 10 minutes while my fingers soaked in extremely hot water before my service started.

Christy was my nail technician and she was AWFUL. She greeted me and then proceeded to start working on me but placed her cell phone on top of the towel and was checking messages and calling people. She even proceeded to talk on her phone while trimming whatever it is they trim on my hands. Naturally, when you're that distracted, what do you do? You draw blood. Her tools were in a box that were labeled "sanitized tools" but really, who knows? It's not a risk I'm ever going to take when someone is that careless and unprofessional. The cherry on top was when she turned and sneezed right into the tools.

I'm by no means someone that has high standards with manicures (I only get them a few times a year) but it was really disappointing. It was only $15, but she was in such a rush and when I was examining the job, it looked like something my neighbor's kids could have chocked up at home. It is only Wednesday night (2 days after) and my nail polish is lifting at the edge and peeling without any housework or anything.

I called ahead and made an appt for a mani / pedi since the hawaiian pedi was lookin tore up.  Don't even mention my hands!  That lady in LA did not do a good french, my hand looked more tore up and it had only been about a week!

The salon is new, clean and open.  They also offer massages which they sort of kept pushing on me.  The masseuse seemed nice and once i'm ready to get a freaken massage i'll call her.  She gave me a 10% off coupon so i will likely try sometime.

The lady working on my pedi was nice, she wore gloves and put in a new filter to the spa chair.  The chair was nice but didn't like the "pound pound pound" massage setting, felt like tuuurrbbuuuulence on a plane if you catch my drift.

Nancy, the owner did my mani and she was nice.  During my mani a girl walked in to get her nails re-done and i guess there was some high school drama and Nancy kept asking the customer about it.  There's chit chat and then there's straight up probing!  anyway, the gal didn't seem to mind it so i listened in since there were only the 4 of us.

Pros - they do a really clean, good job, and use OPI nail polist.  Cons - since i got mine done one following the other, it took TWO hours.

Mani - $10
Pedi - $25
Tip $4 each since they worked on me separately which was sort of annoying b/c i really would only prefer to tip 20%.

Overall, i thought it was a good enough place.  It's the same owners as the one in Milpitas.

This place is the PITS! I've been meaning to write a nasty review on this spot... I cringe everytime I drive by so I've finally made the time to WARN my fellow yelp-ers :o)

SOOOO deceiving~ the place LOOKS aesthetically lovely (so much easier on the eyes than your run-of-the-mill nail salon) but I guess what holds true for Mexican food (that the hole-in-the-wall joints are always SUPERBLY better than the fancy-shmancy places) holds true for nail salons as well (especially when you don't want to spend tons of DOUGH). Nail Nook put me out about $50 and all I got out of it was a sloppy mani-pedi.

For starters, they completely ruined my natural nails by topping off my top coat with some UV gel polish gunk that chipped and cracked the very next day; making my nails more brittle than ever (they did this in a hurry as I was drying my nails w/out even asking if it was "OK")

THEN... that owner lady (WOW... soooo obnoxxious). She overheard me making small talk with the nail tech and eavesdropped on our convo then BUTTED in when she heard where I worked (relatively large local company) and kept saying things like "you'd better tell your co-workers about us", "you'd better send us referrals", "next time you come in bring your work friends with you, OKAY?!?" (oh... you BET I'm going to tell my co-workers about this place! LOL... I tell them to stay FARRR away from this Newark rip-off!)

As I was paying, she opened up my purse and dumped a HUGE stack of their brochures in (first off.. NOBODY better be going into my purse w/out my permission) and then she instructed me to "pass these out to my work friends" for her.

HUH! I know...!?!?! Unbelievable~

I dumped those brochures in a HEARTBEAT and am hoping my recycling bin will be discovered and that someone, somewhere, will make use of the "useless to me" pretti-ful glossy colored pamphlets in some paper-mache volcano kiddie science experiment :o)

Sigh! A BIG waste of my $50 bucks... Consumers BE-WARRRREEEE!

I got a manicure with a nail "take off" and a pedicure on my lunch break.  The place was empty, so I immediately was told to go over to the pedicure chair...but no one came to fill up the spa tub, so I sat there for a minute until someone said "go fill that up for her."  After that, all went fairly well.

One reviewer mentioned that they painted her toe nails prior to the lotion massage--they did this to me too and I thought that was very odd.  The take-off of my nails didn't go as smoothly as I've experienced at other salons, so I probably wouldn't go back for that.

One thing--if I'm reading a book while I'm getting a pedicure, that means I don't want to engage in conversation, so please don't bother me.  The lady just kept asking me about my life and talking about her husband who likes to gamble away $10,000 at a time.  HELLO--I didn't know people who worked in nail salons could afford to gamble that much money--maybe I should change occupations?

I ended up walking out of there for $50 ($25 pedicure, $10 manicure, $10 take off and $5 tip).  I'm not sure if I'll return--only time will tell.

I am going to have to change my review. I do like this place, but I have been disappointed the last few times and I do not think I am going to go back for manicures-they are no good, the last one I got I was bleeding when I left! bleeding... so sad. And same thing happened on my pedicure a few days later, but that was better than the manicure because the manicure did not even look good at least the pedicure did.

so sad, I think I am going to try ZAZA in pacific commons, or Yvonnes.

good bye nail nook.

I sought out the Nail Nook "2" because I had been pleased with their first location in Milpitas.  I travel extensively, so finding a good nail tech is against the odds.  I like the service in both locations, however I think the fee for the exact same services was lower in Milpitas (not 100% sure!)

My nails look amazing, I have been complimented daily.  I am quite picky about any blemishes and it's rare that I get a perfect mani pedi - but I did on my first visit here!

The pedi-spas are about the most deluxe I have experienced.  Not just some weak vibrating massage here.  Nice Shiatsu massage, including the  seat.  I will say at first it is a surprise to feel the massage on your rear, but it actually felt terrific!

The spa is roomy, and comfortable.  I am not fond of the Muzak and since it's played a bit loud I couldn't block it out.  I wish they would mix in some jazz, or even new age instead of the the corny dentist office tunes!  LOL!

Some reviews say the staff are into selling, or talking.  I found them reasonable, and I am sure if I asked for some quiet, it would have been no problem.  Perhaps they are beyond the Grand Opening hard sell, and have established clients?

I also had my brows waxed, and the owner saw to this service.  It was the MOST painless waxing I have had in my life!  Even when she tweezed it was just the perfect tug, and I barely felt a thing!  I have had waxing done for years, so I was very pleased how comfortable this was!!

I will most definitely be going back.

BTW - When I see reviews mention competitors, I really suspect those are planted by the competition.  I went to one of the other nail shops mentioned and had TERRIBLE results - but I won't mention the name here.  It seems appropriate to review each business separately.

In fact IMHO I will avoid the businesses who are mentioned in this review as I suspect they are not honest about the review on the Nail Nook and trying to further some other agenda!

Well despite what everyone else has to say about this place, i like it.  Christy was my nail tech and even though she did use the phone twice, she made it quick and didn't bother me at all.  I also got to meet the owner and she did ask to refer my friends there, but what else can you expect from the owner.  If i had a business i would do the same, just trying to pass the word out.  The background music was very soothing and the place looks really clean.  I like my nails and i have a problem with the nails lifting but Christy assured me that will not happen to her nails, i'll have to wait and see.  I posted a pic of my nails, which i think look really nice.  I would recommend coming up with new nail art or nail designs.  I would also recommend new chairs because those stools are really uncomfortable and hence the 4 stars only.

Disappointed and won't go back.

Bring a printout of the on-line discounts or they won't honor their own promotions!

I was pretty excited to try this place since it was new and they were having a 20% off promotion during less busy hours. Being a stay-at-home mom, I feel less guilty getting a pedicure when the price is slightly reduced. My friend happens to live nearby the salon so I invited her to come too so we could hangout.

I called one day ahead to make my appointment and asked if the promotion was still going on. The lady who answered the phone said yes (I think she's probably the owner who also works the reception) and didn't say anything about needing a coupon.

I was running a little late and my friend had been waiting so I quickly took my seat without confirming anything first. Big mistake.

The pedicure was average - either the lady was very fast or she was not detailed because it took only half the time that another salon in Menlo Park did for the massage and paint job, Also, I wanted to take the opportunity to catch up with my friend but the entire time the two ladies and the receptionist kept talking to us, either to show off something about the salon (yes we know it's nice and new) or to push us to try another service.

All this would have been fine and I would have been interested in going back if it weren't for what happened during the payment time.

My friend already knew that her service (massage) didn't qualify for the 20% off but my pedicure ended up being full price too because I didn't "print out a copy of the website coupon." I checked their website before and after my appointment. The special was advertised on their front/welcome page but it didn't say a coupon would be needed or have something that you could bring to the salon.

My friend tried to ask the lady nicely to give me the discount since 1) we were new customers 2) we might become repeat customers and tell others about them 3) and I had asked specifically about the promotion before getting my pedicure.

But the receptionist (older lady - I think her last name was Thai) insisted that for "business reasons" they needed a printout, as if someone was going to audit them otherwise.

Not only that, they charged me $5 extra for the French manicure, another thing they didn't mention during the pedicure. In the end, I paid $30 + tip for a quick pedicure job and got bombarded by sales pitch the entire time.

My friend says that we should be nice and give them another chance but I am not planning to go back.

The pedicure was meant to be a nice relaxing break with my friend but I walked out of there feeling more agitated than before. Next time I'll think twice before trying out a new place like this...or at least I'll be sure to bring copies of any ads with me so I don't get cheated again.

Update: Originally I only gave this place 1 star but I came back to add 2 because my pedicure still looks good, almost a month later. Still, with so many new salons to try in the area, I'm not likely to go back anytime soon.

sooo i noticed this spot recently when coming from the new park mall. so today after work i dropped by to check out the prices.
when entering the salon, i was greeted by a lil old lady. there were only two other workers there and the salon was completely empty. so i asked for a brochure and looked over the prices. all i wanted was a manicure and pedicure. typically, i look to spend about 28+ tip, however there's was priced at $35. hmmm.... look around the spa and then tell the lady thanks and left. as i walked back to my car i decided i might as well get it done here since there is:
a) no line, i knew at the other spot i go to there usually is a wait
and
b) the salon is very pleasing to the eye

pros]
the two ladies were extremely nice. 1 of them told me how strong my real nails were and how she cant get 1 of her nails to grow back ever since she was picking rice one time in vietnam and cut her nail bed....ummm... anyways - they have nice stone tiled floors, a granite counter top with stools (a different approach from the regular manicure stations), brand new golden brown granite like pedicure chairs, and might i add they play classical music. lol.

cons]
now as i was sitting in the chair - and the only two workers in there were working simultaneously on me ... i noticed tsomething. i didn't see the permits hanging above the stations .. maybe i overlooked it if it were hanging up -- which could explain why the lady doing my mani did NOT know how to file. seriously, i had to come home and go over my edges...good thing she knew how to massage...but the girl doing the ped did a good job and gave a wonderful foot massage.

one thing i will say is that they are very eager to get more customers. i think as time goes, they will do ok with business - they need to promote more. overall, the customer service was pretty good tho. they also do eye lash extentions.. however, id be leary if the girl who cant file nails correctly does it. lol!

this nail salon isnt your typical asian one. they did a great job of straying away from that.apart from that, i was not satisfied with the nail job that i received. and for someone super picky, i called and wanted my nails redone, free of charge.. of course they did that, but the same problem i had from the start appeared again. i ended up going to my original nail salon, even though it falls into the category of a typical asian nail salon. but hey, they do the best job for a reasonable price.

Close to work, and a 20% off coupon to boot -- We had to go!

Made an appointment ~a week ahead of time, for two people, mani/pedi.  We arrived, and the two technicians were ready for us.  My friend had forgotten her paper coupon, so we asked if it would be a problem -- and if so, we'd just run down a few doors to pick up another coupon from the restaurant where we had found them.  The manger got upset, started saying that they weren't taking the coupon any more (even though it didn't expire for another week) and that if we ran out and came back, she wouldn't have enough time to do our nails.  What a pain!  Finally she relented, and suggested we go get the printed coupon while our nails were drying.  OK. Fine.

The place is clean (since it's spanking new).  The pedicure chairs are awesome -- tons of adjustments and good motion.  Although the seat massager is definitely umm...interesting.  Luckily you can turn that off!

They carry OPI colors, but I noticed when she was painting my toes that the polish was very thin, like it had been watered down.  The mani/pedi was average.  The only thing that struck me as odd was the lotion/massage was done *after* my polish was applied.  This meant that my hands & feet weren't massaged (so the polish wouldn't smudge) only my arms & legs.

When it came time to pay, the manager said she would call the owner to see if she would accept the coupons we had.  I've never seen someone so opposed to honoring their business' promotions.  She did eventually end up giving us the discount (even without calling the owners).

In the end, we won't be back.  My polish was bubbling/peeling within one day, and the technicians tried too hard to upsell and push business.  "bring your friends"  "we do this" "you want this?"  "make sure you tell your friends, make sure you come back"  etc.

If I could give this place 0 stars, I would. Horrible horrible place.
So I walk in and its completely empty, which was great cz i was in a rush.  I was seated right away on the pedi chair, but no one bothered to turn the water on. And when the water was turned on and the tub filled, it was completely ICE cold. when I asked the water to be warm, the lady who was doing my pedi seemed to get annoyed. The lady who was doing my pedi seemed more interested in where I got my nails done rather than doing a good job on my toes. She didnt clean the toes well, then she did the nail polish on my toes before the massage. I think they do this so it takes less of their time, because by the time the nail polish dries, they are done with the massage, which sucks cz my toes are not being included in the massage. I wanted to get a design done on big toes, and I had made that clear when I first sat down. I dont know why the lady who was going to do my design decided she wants to do another girls pedi even tho my nail polish was already dry cz it was done before the massage. So I waited extra 20 minutes to get my design done, and when she finally did the design..... she messed up on it!!!  it had been smudged by her hand. Over that she refused to fix it. Her response when asked to fix was "its a busy day, sorry I cant keep redoing it for u"..... she only did it once! and she was the one who messed up on it. Too bad I had already paid for the pedi before she did my design.
I will not recommend going to this place. It is a waste of money and time. And over all that, those stupid ladies are extremely rude and dont know when to shut up.
Not to take away their business, but there is a great place down the street from here. Yvonne's nails. They do a great job. Unfortunately that place was busy and I wanted to try out a new spot wich obviously didnt work out very well.
Oh and I do not work for Yvonne's nail. Im just a client of hers.

Please dont bother going to this place as its worse than trash (if there is such a thing)
