We really enjoyed this place.  The sushi was great, even my special request for very specific rolls were handled beautifully.

The miso was wonderful.  I don't normally like miso, but my husband made me try it and I fell in love.  Mmm.  Tasty.

Our waitress was fantastic, and was ever so patient with us.

We'll be back.  The menu was fantastic.  There was definitely something for everyone.

Nagoya is right down the street from my office, so I've only been here for lunch. The specials are decently priced for both sushi and hibachi ($8-15), that typically comes with either soup or salad.

The sushi is always fresh and served super cold, as it should be. If you're a fan of rolls, they're just OK here, nothing new or innovative. I'm a fan of the scallop hibachi, it's so good. They always seem to get the perfect sear on it without overcooking those suckers.

So why not 4 stars you ask? The service is almost non-existent. You literally have to hang off from your chair with arms waving to get a waitstaff to look at you. That, or just take off your clothes. I come here during lunch, so dining for 2 hours is not acceptable. It's usually not very packed here, but they take a lifetime to cut up fish and serve your drinks. Urgh, what's the deal? There's little to no cooking involved, it shouldn't take that long people!

Good for: groups, decent lunch specials (sushi/hibachi) and people with no regard for time.

Went to Nayoga using a Groupon.  I told the waitress ahead of time and she told me that I couldn't use for the happy hour menu.   That was fine with me.   But I couldn't order happy hour items in addition to regular menu items even if the total of regular menu items exceeds my groupon minimum.  That I didn't like.  But I wasn't going to get up and leave.

She was not nice.  She didn't refill our drinks promptly.  She almost had a bit of attitude.  When I use coupons, I always tip at least 18% of original bill value.  She didn't have to treat me like a cheap customer.  I will not return.

Not bad, not bad at all!  We went for the sushi and were pleased with it. I couldn't believe how great of a deal the "Maki B" was. You get a spicy tuna, yellow fin tuna and spicy salmon roll for $13. It comes with soup and salad too. The ambiance is great, we were impressed at how nice it was inside. Our waitress, Lulu was on top of her game too. You'll be lucky to get her. My wife had a lot of questions and requests and Lulu was seasoned enough to guide her along the way. I can't go past 3 stars though because the only sushi joint I will give 5 stars to is Keiichi (Denton, Tx. Not to be confused with Kenichii) and Nobu to me would be a 4 star. Plus, the food really didn't separate itself from the pack. But, it's a nice joint with good sushi at an affordable price. We will be back, specifically for Happy Hour which runs from 3-6.

Got the hibachi lunch special w/ Beef & Scallops.  I have no idea why the waitress asked how I wanted my beef cooked.  I said medium rare but the beef looked as though it had just been in a microwave for an extended period of time.

Two of my coworkers got the sushi.  It looked like it had been sitting in a cooler behind the sushi bar for long enough for the ice to melt and it just be floating in cool water.  They are now both double checking that a toilet is in range for the rest of the day in case they suddenly feel like there might be a photo finish.

I don't recommend this place, however I did at least finish my plate (attributing this to hunger) so it gets 2/5 stars.

Went to Nagoya on Friday at 6:45pm. The space is decorated in minimalist asian style found in most teppan joints. Service was good. The chef we had was very good, very talented. Server was attentive.
I had the filet with veggies and shrimp. Steak was good, quality of the meat was also good. The steak seemed a little dry considering I requested medium, but it could also have been the soy sauce the chef used. Very little fat.
Overall the meal was good but not memorable. I would consider going again but I need to compare to the other teppan joints in the area.

Salmon Nigiri was tasty.  Yellow tail and dragon roll were kinda funky.  Still feeling a little questionable (1.5 hrs later)  from the latter two items.  Wait staff was courteous.  Outside appearance is scary, but they did a nice job on the interior.  All in all there are MUCH better sushi places in Austin in the same price bracket (Tomo and DK's sushi), so I won't be headed back to Nagoya Steak and Sushi.

Today, we wanted something a little different for lunch and hadn't hit a Japanese steakhouse in Austin yet. We chose this place because the reviews were a little better than the other Japanese steakhouse in the area. It wasn't very busy and we were seated right away.

Salads - Dressing was a little sour, I didn't much care for it, but my boyfriend said it was ok.

Miso Soup - I am not a fan, and especially on a hot day it wasn't all that appetizing, but it was good. Just wasn't in the mood for soup.

Hibachi chicken with steamed rice - Really good!

Hibachi scallops and shrimp with fried rice - Really good!

Sauces - Eh, we've had better sauces. My boyfriend said that their sauces tasted a little fishy - which I didn't taste at all. What we both thought though, is that we have had better sauces at other Japanese steakhouses.

Hibachi Cooking Show - The guy we got was nice, talkative and did all the stunts - knife flipping, shrimp tossing, onion volcano, fire on the grill and an impressive array of other skills..everything you'd expect...a great show! On a side note, he made a little too much fried rice for my boyfriend and offered me a little to munch on until my chicken was ready, and then at the end, gave me two of his shrimp which was really cool. Thanks!

Drinks - My boyfriend's refills of soda were $1.00 each - that seems pretty ridiculous and overpriced to me, considering how cheap sodas are and how much we ended up paying for the meal...I mean c'mon, really?

Wait Staff - Polite, seated us right away, did refills and took plates away as necessary, promptly - great service, except for the lunch pricing snafu I talk about below....

So why the three star rating? Well, they don't do lunch on Sundays and that wasn't explained to us. We weren't looking for a $50 lunch today and we both ordered saying, "Lunch Hibachi." It wasn't until our bill came and we questioned the amount that the No-Lunch-Sundays were explained to us. So.. -1 star for the combined food/drink issues, and -1 star for the lunch pricing situation. If I could give 3 1/2 stars, I really would... because I really think that 3 is too little, but 4 is too much.

We will definitely go back, as we did have an over all good experience!

I really like this place because of the proximity to where I live and they have great happy hour specials [$1.50 per piece of sashimi, $3.50 per roll].  The HH menu has quite a bit to choose from.  My daughter can't have sushi so there are alternate choices.

The staff is really nice.  I have always had good experiences here.  The place is seldom busy when we go.

I love their unique roll: The Cedar Park Roll.  Other unique rolls: UT roll, Anderson Mill roll.  I've also had the Tiger Roll and the Beef Negimaki.  YUM!

I had high hopes for this place, which I've learned is probably not a good way to approach a restaurant for the first time.  A curious air of experimentation is probably best.  That said, I was expecting Japanese food, and while it has Japanese elements, this is basically American food, cooked and served in Japanese style.

My family ordered a combination of basic sushi, and the steak and salmon "Hibachi" plates.  The latter comes with a decent Miso soup, but the salad is iceberg lettuce with a couple of tomatoes and an unappetizing orange dressing.

The steak and seafood are cooked at table on the grill, covered with a sauce, and are mostly bland in flavor.  Dipping sauces are provided, but these seemed too strong to complement the flavor, tending to mask it instead.  The vegetables are *all* American veggies.  No risk there.  Zucchini, large white onions, carrots, button mushrooms.  The prices for the Hibachi meals average $15-18 for an entree.  The portions are huge.  There is a kids' menu for 12 and under that serves reduced portions that would have been just right for me, as it turns out.

Our family made early reservations for a Sunday night, and the place filled up quickly behind us.  Though there were a number of empty tables, we were seated elbow to elbow at a "Hibachi table" with a couple with very young, wiggly kids.  Not what I had in mind for a night out.  We ordered hot Sake.

Once the chef arrived and began entertaining everyone, it didn't matter, because the little kids were the most entertained by the waiter's antics: spinning eggs, stacking onions and lighting them on fire, lighting the whole grill on fire, then placing his hand in it and making an offering in the smoke, throwing food into customer's mouths (usually missing...only adds to the entertainment factor).

So, young kids are easily impressed by this.  Keep that in mind if you want to take them someplace fun with non-threatening food (i.e., basically American food without much seasoning).  The waitstaff and chef were polite and we were served quickly.  The only disappointment I had was the blandness and lack of authenticity of the food.

We went in for my birthday simply because we noticed it as we passed by on the way to HEB and it is close to our house. I wasn't expecting anything too special as we have been hardcore Midori fans for years.

Let me tell you, OMG. The Volcano Roll? Heaven. The Rock and Roll Roll? The next closest thing. We had 3 different rolls and a few sashimi plates and I have to say I forgot the name of my last favorite sushi restaurant. It is amazing food, fantastic service and an all around cool vibe for sushi.

I see quite a few reviews on the Hibachi grill and of that, I have no knowledge, but what I do know is that it is fantastic sushi with even better service (and that was hard to beat).

    Thanks Nagoya!

    After lunch...around 13:45.
We had Anderson Mill Roll, Eel & Avacado Roll, California Roll, and Beef  Negimaki.

Rice on the sushi rolls was something between mush and slimy.
    Rolls overpriced for size/quantity.
Rolls were unimaginative as if they had copied the most common elements from other sushi shops.
    Beef was ok...certainly not Wagyu
Didn't have the hibachi offering, which is where they hope to make the majority of their money... really...another Benihana...
Unless they raise their standard, and make decent sushi rice (the simplest of ingredients), stick with Musashino. Musashino is as close to Tsukiji market (Tokyo) as you'll get in Austin. I've eaten sushi in Sapporo and Tokyo. Even the Japanese $1 sushi places that offer a $1/plate on the kaiten zushi setup at least prepare the rice correctly.

Save your money. If you want sushi prepared by korean sushi chefs, you're far better off at Korea House.

Ok, this is what I don't understand.  Osaka Mansun has 4.5 stars but this place gets only 3.5?  The quality of sushi is more than twice as good, the happy hour rolls are $3.50 each as opposed to the $5 - $6.50 range of Osaka Mansun.

We had a Groupon going into Nagoya.  It was a bit of a drive, 20 minutes from North Austin, but so worth it.  We ordered, ate what we ordered and ordered more.  Nothing can be a bigger compliment if we order more after tasting what we had originally ordered.  The rolls were delicious and the fish was fresh.  Presentation was good and the atmosphere was classic.  I enjoyed my time eating there.  I can't wait to go back for Happy Hour, it is such a good deal.

If you can afford the drive to this part of town, the sushi is top notch.  Can't speak about much else but the sushi gets my big stamp of approval.  I have yet to try Uchi but I've heard so much about it.  That said, this place and Mikado has the best sushi in town.

I have tried Nagoya three times now and each experience was very consistent. Good service, fabulous happy hour prices, decent wine yet the taste and quality of the food was just not there.

I was pleased to find the the escolar was included in the $1.50 happy hour sushi, about 17 rolls running $3.50 and $2 off all glasses of wine. They went a bit overboard with the vinegar on the escolar sushi masking any hint of buttery yumminess that one would expect. The happy hour rolls I tried, though not horrible, were bland and did not have aspects of super fresh fish.

Nagoya's happy hour sounds wonderful on paper but the quality and flavor of the sushi is a disappointment.

With Friday date night approaching, BF suggested either Midori Sushi or Nagoya. I quickly said Midori not Nagoya. But after some thought, I checked Yelp. Midori has been going down in the ratings while Nagoya has been going up. So last minute, I change my mind.

We made it there at 5:45PM. I thank my lucky stars that we are still in time for Happy Hour.  We get seated promptly and our waiter was there withing seconds after. I order the Sake-tini and BF gets the Sake Margarita. Waiter leaves to get our drinks. Oh, what to order, I request the Shrimp Tempura appetizer, BF wants the Crunchy Roll and Edamame, and I choose the Cedar Park Roll, well, just to be different. When waiter returns, we place our order while sipping our cocktails. Before he leaves, I tell BF, let's order another drink now before HH ends in 7 minutes. Our drinks which are $4.00 each go back to $6.50.

While waiting, we look around. Nice atmosphere with plenty of tables. The area for the sushi is packed while the Hibachi area still is empty. Dang, there's our waiter coming out with some of our food already. Quick service! It's the edamame and the shrimp tempura.

I wasn't expecting more than one shrimp for $3.50, buit it came with two big shrimp, two sweet potatoes, one zuchini, and one broccoli. That's a lot for the money. We are barely half through when the crunchy rolls appear. BF tries one and complaints these are crunchy rolls. I try one and tell him they are but the Panko is inside the rice instead of on top. They are NOT as crunchy with the panko inside as it tends to get softened. He says but there's no shrimp. I patiently explain that he is thinking of the shrimp tempura rolls. I see the dementia fade away from his face, followed by the disappointment. I agree this was not so good.

The Cedar Park roll is making its debut. I try it first, and get WOWed. Oh, yes, this is good shit. Crab, crawfish, asparagus, wrapped in seaweed and tempura fried. It had a kick at the end. These are yummy.   We complete the evening with Fried bananas. They were decent but what made it was the presentation. Mind you, it was only six slices of banana and topped with whipped cream. They laid the bananas end to end in a looooong dish, on the end of each was the curled end of the peel, whip cream swirls covered the banana. It was so cute, but not too cute that I didn't want to eat it.

This is what a Happy Hour should be like!  Reasonable price cocktails that pack a punch, inexpensive and large variety of appy choices, service that was spot on but not rushed.

Yes, that was me whooping out the car window on El Salido Parkway. Okay, so maybe it was the second Sake-tini. (I told you it was strong.)

Amazing!!  The Pricing, the taste. I have to admit, since it is around the corner. I found it perfect, but the taste sold me.  The Rock Shrimp was great, and the sushi specialty rolls not only seems to fit the names with the Austin themes but had the taste to prove everything is "better in Texas". I found for the prices, the service, taste, and price made this sushi place better than I ever imagined!!!

Food was average. Service was awful.

Strike 1: when we walked into the restaurant we asked to sit in a booth (2 were empty).  The hostess said, "oh, you want me to clear one for you?".  We said, "well we dont want you to go to any trouble". So she seated us at a table.  5 minutes later the booths were cleared and other customers who came in after us were seated there.

Our waitress was new...I will give her that.  But she didn't write anything down and came back to our table no less than 4 times to ask me to repeat my order.  When I ordered a martini, she spilled most of it on my arm and didn't offer to comp it.  Ridiculous.

We didn't complain to the management because we didn't want to cause trouble but I will never go back there.

Decent hibachi restaurant.  Good-sized portions and above average taste.  They have a unique mustard wasabi sauce that was quite delicious.

Service is a bit lacking in terms of friendliness with a couple of the waitresses, but otherwise, customer service was fine.

We came with high hopes. We were seats right away shortly before 7:30 pm on a Saturday night. The place wasn't completely packed, but it wasn't empty either. However after waiting for at least TEN MINUTES to be greeted by a server and place our order, we left and headed to Kobe. At least there we're greeted by the waitstaff moments after being seated and our drink orders are taken right away.

Nagoya's management could stand to learn how to train their waitstaff to recognize when a table has just been seated and not make the patrons wait a long time to be greeted.

I was very pleased with our visit to Nagoya. We brought  some people from out of town and they enjoyed it as well.

We are very familiar with teppanyaki places like these, so we thought we'd try somewhere new. It was a Saturday night and it was VERY busy. The wait staff was VERY friendly and kept on our drinks and appetizers very well.  We did have one mishap which kind of scared us. My wife is allergic to shrimp and she order some soup that was supposed to be chicken. Well she got it and looked and it was shrimp. It could have been a disaster had she not looked at it and just start eating it, but other than that the service was great.

The food was pretty good as well. I had sushi that was called a Tuna & Tuna roll. It was fantastic. It had a peppered tuna on top of a tuna roll. Everyone enjoyed it from our party. The tempura was kind of bland and undercooked, it was also pretty small for an appetizer but this is the only thing I found wrong with any of the food. The Teppanyaki (hibachi) was very good, the cook had good skills and made everyone laugh at the table. All in all it was a great time and experience. We will be going back.

BEWARE NAGOYA GROUPON! Not valid for lunch!

We bought two groupons for this place, anticipating to  use them at lunch time as I frequently work nights (so dinner isn't really an option for me.) The groupon title stated "For Lunch or Dinner" and the fine print read "not for lunch specials." With this in mind, we didn't order from their "Signature Rolls Lunch Special" menu and instead had hibachi, chicken and steak with shrimp, respectively. When time to pay, we were told the groupon would not be accepted because it was lunch time, and everything on their lunch menu counts as a lunch special; in order to use it at lunch time, we would have  had to order off their dinner menu. Both the waiter and manager confirmed this. Needless to say, we were very upset and potentially won't be going back for a while until the sting wears off from the lack of customer service. No one even apologised for the bad wording; it was handled in more of a "this makes perfect sense to us, why don't you get it?"

On a good note, the food was delicious, the lunch show was delightful, and our chef was very amusing. To note, this is only the second time I've been to hibachi, so I don't have much else to compare it to, but I'd certainly recommend Nagoya to people (who wouldn't be using the groupon during lunch.)

Had it not been for the experience we had with the wording discrepancy, I'd gladly have given this place 5 stars, but my experience still stings.

After a day at the lake, we decided to check out Nagoya. After all, it was so fitting to eat here after our friends from Cali visited us and we all met in Nagoya, Japan.

After reading all the reviews we were pretty skeptical of the place but we decided to give it a shot.

We entered and guess what, the restaurant was empty! After being very hesitant of sitting down, we just decided to take a risk and try the place.

We were blown AWAY by this restaurant!!! Our waitress Lauren and hibachi chef Kevin were AMAZING! They made our dining experience so enjoyable and memorable. For the amount of food we had, it was reasonably priced. We had the Nagoya roll, spicy tuna roll which were both delicious. Then we all four got the chicken, scallops, salmon and ribeye hibachi entrees and shared it all. This came with salad, Miso soup or chicken broth soup, and steamed rice. We topped our satisfied  full stomachs with tempura fried green tea ice cream.  All the foods that we ate were fantastic, trust us. :)

Great staff, food and dining experience! :)

Eh, meh. I think the prior reviews really got my hopes up about this place and kinda like seeing a raved about movie (I'm looking at you "District 9"), it just didn't live up to the hype. First of all, Japanese steakhouse implies to me a nice place, like Kobe or even Bennihana. Hubby and I were practically the only ones there not dressed for fishing on a Saturday nite...seriously every male there had on cargo shorts and ball caps. But, I'm not one to judge a restaurant by the clientele so onto the food:

We opted for the hibachi show/dinner. We also ordered a coupla rolls for appetizers, the spicy tuna and the smoked salmon, avocado roll. The spicy tuna was not, and the smoked salmon did not taste smoky at all and both rolls fell apart on us. Not a good beginning.

The salads that come with the hibachi are just big chunks of iceberg, a few tomatoes and purple cabbage in a "ginger" dressing that was unhealthily orange and thick. Blech. But the "soup" was tasty, mostly broth with a few shrooms. All this is typical for this style of restaurant, so I was willing to reserve my opinion til the main course.

You can tell from my reviews that I am a scallop fiend, so when I saw that they offered hibachi style, I was soo excited. Hubby got steak and scallops. The hibachi chef was pretty good altho hard to understand. The fried rice was good as were the veggies (broccoli, zucchini and a bunch of leftover onion volcano onion). But the scallops....rats, they were bitter. Not the succulent sweet things I search for. These were ginormous and left a bad taste in your mouth. I still don't know the secret to bitterless scallops (that's why I don't cook them at home). Have been told it's the quality and freshness factor. Whatever the case, I was only able to eat about three of these. What a waste of life!

So, maybe I just ordered the wrong thing. I think I would be willing to give them another chance, a fresh start. Maybe after they get their liquor license in a week or so. Maybe I'll just stick with chicken. Or maybe not.  Sigh.

The Happy Hour is priced decent, but for the same price, nearby venues offer a better quality and tasting food.

The Cucumber Sake Martini was great and reasonably priced at $4.

I will definitely give it another try though since it is close to where I live.

Love it...love it :) Again my need to try places close to my house struck me so 3 of us went to Nagoya. Pulling up to the location at 7pm , the lit up trees and resturant look really nice. When you enter, instantly you notice the the dark wood built ins and artifacts. The burnt orange but more reddish paint choice and how clean things are. Good sign so far..

We were all craving sushi so thats what we got and lots of it for not a big price. We ordered shrimp and veggie tempura to start which was not too big but it was okay. We ordered Maki A,C,C and each platter comes with 3 rolls for around 11-14 dollars. That is awesome!!!

Platters also come with miso soup which includes seaweed and green onion in it and I prefer that and loved every sip of it. Salad comes with a light ginger dressing which is sweet, powerful yet not too much. Perfect way to start a meal and it left us wondering how the sushi would be.

Maki A was all around wonderful. Maki C was good except the eel roll in there was ehhh. I have had eel before but it tasted really weird to me. I will definately be going back here as the service was good, as was the food. The prices are wonderful :) Go try it!

Went for dinner last night and enjoyed almost every minute of it!  They still haven't had their grand opening, so they're still working out a couple kinks (it took a couple extra minutes for the hibachi grill to warm up), but I didn't care, the food was amazing!  We started out with the Spicy Tuna Roll and California Roll, both were pretty standard, but tasty.  Then we moved on to the hibachi, the chef put on a fun little show for us and the shrimp my boyfriend had said it was the best he had every tasted (and he eats LOTS of shrimp).  My chicken was equally delicious!

To top it off, we had an awesome http://Restaurant.com gift certificate and didn't have to spend that much money!

Definitely going to make the drive out to Cedar Park again!

Well, it has been over a month now since the last time we visited Nagoya. We went there about 8:30pm and I think we were the last customers to walk in the door. They close at 10:00pm on week nights and it just happened to be a couple of days before they got their liquor license. We were seated pretty close to the hostess stand and we could hear their entire conversation while we were eating. My husband didn't care because he found it entertaining, although, I would rather listen to the music and not their conversation.

We ordered shrimp tempura for an appetizer. The tempura is not that flaky batter tempura that you usually see at most Japanese restaurants. It is deep fried small shrimp marinated with a cream sauce and served in a bowl of fried onion ring, and it tasted like Chinese walnut shrimp. It was good but not what I expected. I wonder if the shrimp tempura dinner would be the same, and if so then I would be very disappointed.

My husband ordered sushi deluxe; I ordered the grilled salmon teriyaki. My husband's sushi was great like usual, great big piece of fresh fish over nice warm rice. My 2 big pieces of salmon over spinach and tri color bell pepper was a bit too sweet for me, maybe I dipped too much of my salmon in the teriyaki sauce. It was also served with a tiny scoop of sweet mashed potatoes on top of the salmon which I didn't care too much for.

Of course, a must have here is the cheese cake tempura. This desert made me oooh & ahhhh the last time I came here, but this time it was missing that green sauce which adds a subtle sour flavor that I really like. Another disappointment!

Maybe, next time I'll just order sushi or sashimi from Nagoya...maybe.

I was surprised when we went on a Saturday night that the place was almost empty.  Opted for sushi instead of the teppanyaki- usually when a place doesn't focus on one type of food I'm usually sketched out, it's hard to do 2 different things well.  I was super surprised that the sushi was REALLY good, especially for a place way out of town in the burbs.  Very clever rolls (my favorite!), maybe a dollar or two overpriced but nothing unreasonable.

Martinis and service were great too!  Nicely decorated and a good solid option for sushi in the area.

Nagoya is a little known Gem in the Cedar Park area!!

I have visited Nagoya several times and have always left impressed and satisfied. They have Hibachi seating where the Chefs will prepare your dinner right in front of you, seating at their sushi bar area, or my personal favorite; one of their cozy booths.

Their sushi is fresh and well prepared. I've tried most of their rolls, with my favorites being the Crunchy and the Spicy Tuna. What I like about the sushi here is that each element is evenly sliced, so you never get a piece that has too much avocado, or too much eel, etc. This creates a nice balance that culminates into a solid flavor.

I have tried lunch and dinner hibachi including both Shrimp, New York Strip, and Scallops. Also had the lunch bento box. All have been excellent, with large portions. Also enjoy the miso soup, it's correctly simmered and not overly salty or watery. My entire family really likes the steamed rice they serve here, as it is Korean rice, which is softer and has a shorter grain which makes the consistency stickier and more plump than other types of rice.

I saw some reviewers complained about the service, but I've always had prompt and friendly service from the hostesses, to the waiters who have been great at suggesting rolls and drinks.

Lastly, I've recently discovered their WONDERFUL selection of bar items. They have a wide selection of Martinis and Bacardi Rum Mojitos. Never seen an Asian restaurant that serves MOJITOS!? I was skeptical to try them, but ended up trying the Raspberry Mojito and it was EXCELLENT! The waiter suggested the Blueberry Mojito, and that was AWESOME too.

Bottom Line, give Nagoya a chance, you won't be disappointed!

like any good hibachi grill, be prepared to smell like food afterwards...

i came here with a group of friends. i didn't make the most the grill but they do all the fancy tricks. we had the guy wearing the black get-up...seemed to be better than white get-up guy...

he tossed the veggies, made the onion volcano and even shared everyone's meal with each other -- sit close to together if you are doing hibachi, one of my friends sat separate from the others and got jipped in tasting the rest of their food.

i got the pineapple fried rice...definitely lacking...but beautifully presented in a pineapple boat. not sweet and salty enough though. wouldn't recommend ordering it. one of my friends got the sashi meal, which again was huge...

most the plates and meals were big...

but really i didnt find anything particularly fantastic about it.

maybe i should try happy hour...next time.

Service was really friendly and made for plesant conversation. Ask for julie! The spicy tuna roll was a bit mushy but had good flavor. The eel roll had perhaps too much avocado and not enough eel. My favorite, The Volcano, was delicious: a mountain of spicy tuna and crabmeat with an ash cap of tempura flake. House special Cedar Park Roll was awesome too! Like a deep fried Louisiana from other sushi joints I've tried.

Went for lunch and the prices were excellent. Sushi was good and fresh. Well done!

I really love this place for lunch. The bento boxes are very filling and the $1 up charge for a roll other than the california is awesome!

Very nice place - I'd give it 4.5 if I could.

Someone else said in their review that you should not have to have your wallet intimidated when you go in a restaurant.  Huh?  First off, it is just a nice place - not the typical dump that most Austin restaurants look like.  We've come to be convinced that for a restaurant to be successful in Austin, it has to look like a dump. This place is just a nice, modern, clean, well sculptured place.  Second, this place is down right cheap.   Two of us ate to capacity, and we took some home for $80.  $80 for two for sushi - that is in fact a deal!!!  Compare this to Uchi downtown where we dropped $150 and had to stop at Taco Bell on the way home!  The prices here are down right fantastic. The atmosphere is just simple, and nice.

Walking in the door for the first time, I did not realize that it was a hibachi style restaurant.  This turned me off immediately for fear that the place would be a like the typical, dumpy, chain restaurant Bennihana (yuck).  We chose to sit on the other end of the restaurant at a private booth.  This worked well.

Low priced, does not make good. Shitty, cheap food is still shitty.  We had three types of food:
    - Roles - these were spectacular.  I would compare the quality of the rolls here to any other sushi place in town.  Caution, the Signature rolls are HUGE.  As for the lady that said the rolls fell apart, maybe she needs chop stick lessons - we had no issue.
    - Sushi was just average, but the pieces were probably the biggest that I have seen in years. The Sake (salmon) was a bit bland, the smoked salmon was very good, the Unagi came barely warm, but it was tasty.  And the Maguro (Tuna) and Shiroo Maguro was very good.  I'd give the sushi average or just above average grade on taste/quality , but an A+ for value/size
    - Beef Negimaki was prepared very nice, and was very tasty.  This is a full entrée all by itself.

I certainly plan to go back here.  It's my hope that the sushi quality was off a bit the night we were there based on the other reviews.  But even with this, the sushi was still good.

They did it!!  We have returned twice since my 4 star rating.  Kevin (the bartender) worked his magic....  explaining to Benny (the Sushi Chef) what we were looking for.  He created a sweet potato tempura roll, covered with tasty avocado slices, drizzled with citrus sauce and sprinkled with rice flowers.  He nailed it both visits!!  YUM!!  Vegetarian sushi heaven!!
