Incredible sushi/sashimi outside of the city.
The lunch combos give you tons of food.
Also, you can tell that the sushi chef is traditionally trained as he puts wasabi into the sushi itself. Unfortunately its not real wasabi but still...
Definitely worth a try. -

Nagashima is a decent Japanese restaurant that is hidden in the Westbury strip mall right near the Home Depot. Don't shy away from this place, as you will be really surprised how good the food is here.
The sushi and sashimi are fresh, and they always have creative and varying rolls on the menu here. They are always well prepared, and the portions are plentiful here.
Their seaweed salad tastes a little "off" from the normal seaweed salad. I think the chef adds some lime juice or something. Their miso is also a little off here too (I'm not quite sure why though, I can't put my finger on it).
I always order the edamame, as they are hot and tasty (and my dad really loves them too).
The staff is traditionally very Japanese (quiet and respectful). I've never had a problem with the service here at all.Listed in: Long Island Best Eats

Great Japanese in a strip mall.
I have to admit, my only reason for going here tonight was because a coworker gave me a 20% off coupon.
The place turned out to be extremely good, with great service and excellent food.
The sushi was fresh - VERY fresh and well prepared. The menu has a lot of combination type deals which also include the sushi and rolls.
I chose a 3-roll combo and added a special al-a-carte roll and there was enough food there to stuff 2-3 people. Throw in the usual miso soup and salad and there you have it.
I think, although I'm not sure, that they add 18% as a gratuity if you have the coupon so you should be aware of that.
Our server was very good and had a good sense of humor. I will definitely be back! -

I used a http://restaurant.com coupon here, no complaints about service or setting. Being in a poor-looking strip mall just of the L.I.E. highway, it gets unexpectedly populated. Apparently it is a hot-spot for the NY Islanders.
The food was OK; I liked the Flying Dragon Roll (has eel tempura atop spicy tuna rolls) but it was $15.95... I guess that is expected. That and the 3 roll platter ($16.95 for 3 rolls [each 6 pieces] chosen from a list, and 1 miso soup and salad) are enough to stuff 2 people. Fish is fresh. But for the $$$, it isn't the bestest sushi I've tasted. -

Our private party ate in the basement with the fish aquarium. We ate family style sushi. Big plates of their speciality rolls came rolling out.
The salmon and hamachi were very fresh, very tasty and delish. I had a deep fried eel roll for the 1st time it was different but hit the spot as I chased it down with hot sake... -

I took one of my "old" coworkers here for sushi, but I had miso soup and beef teriyaki instead. It was ok, same as other sushi places that I have already been to.

I took my dad for his first Japanese food experience. We ordered the sushi and sashimi platter for two, and a udon for a total of $76.24 after the $25 coupon from http://restaurant.com. Out of the entire platter only one slice of sashimi tasted fresh, by that I mean melt in your mouth like butter fresh. The rest tasted fishy or the texture was wrong. The soup that the udon came in was salty. The miso does not have that much flavor. The rolls are much better than the sashimi.

This is some of the best sushi I have had. Although it is a little pricey for a casual sushi dinner, the money spent was well worth it. The daily special rolls are delicious and the presentation was also top notch. I also tried a daily special soup that was fantastic. Definitely worth the money and I recommend trying something a little different with the special rolls.

Nagashima is one of the best kept secrets on Jericho Turnpike along the North Shore of Long Island. It's located in a small strip of stores in a shopping center that is well known for Franks Steaks. The sushi is ALWAYS fresh and the cooked dishes such as the beef teriyaki is outrageously good. Ronnie the owner is there every night and keeps things running smoothly and adds comfort to the already well run and kept restaurant. A very low key scene that makes it good for family and friends and kids as well. Save yourself 20% while your there with this always valid coupon that can be found at http://www.lbcoupons.com.
