the go-to place for post clubbing grub!
FREE CHAI TEA, just make sure you ad several spoonfuls of sugar and brush your teeth afterwards
Tikka masala is pretty awesome, just don't eat the chicken, its way too dry, all the other curries...meh
HUGE fresh naan, i like all of them except for the lamb one, i tried one bite of my friend's and it seemed to be very stinky
this place bumps the best bollywood/hip hop/random MJ music, but it seems to be a repeating CD with like 6 songs, at least it seems to be different on the 3 different occasions that i've been here
be careful with them meter maids if you park right outside! i got a ticket for being there at like 2:05 (street cleanining 2am MWF) boo!
its not the greatest, but you should expect nothing better in the graveyard hours -

The absolute WORST thing you could do to someone who's starving their ass off at 3AM after a night of drinking is to make them wait 15 minutes.. then bring out only their side dish and make them stare at it for another 15 minutes while the rest of their food arrives.
This happens all the time but last night was the worst. I ordered a chicken tikka malsala and spinach as a side. My two cousins each ordered some other chicken dish and one rice.
After waiting for God know's how long, they bring to me my chicken tikka masala and my cousins' two rice plates. I told him we ordered more and he said it was coming. It came 15 minutes later. I don't know about you but most people eat their main dish and their side together.
I understand that it's busy as hell at that time but it would've been much better if they had waited to bring everything out together.
The food is great so if you don't mind drooling over your rice while you wait for the rest of your food to arrive then I actually would recommend this place. -

Prefacing this by saying as a late night eatery on the weekend this place is okay. Ordered delivery from this place early Sunday evening. Took 1hr 45 min. Called at 1:15 to get an ETA. Said 10 min max. Clearly that didn't hold up. Naturally first thought was the food would be cold. Assumption proved correct.
Naan: solid if not a bit burnt. Hard to fuck up naan in general.
Lamb seekh kabob: gave me chicken instead, was fine, again, hard to really screw up this dish, although they did by not getting the order right to begin with.
Karahi lamb: literally the only restsurant I've eaten at that didn't have this dish boneless. Cold, not much meat, how good could it have been. Not very.
Raita: awful. Warm, consistency off for a basic yogurt.
Admittedly I have generally high standards for Indian food but after ordering here, I understand now why they offer 10% off 1st time orders. What a disappointment. -

If you're leaving Ruby Skye at the wee 3am hours, please make sure to stop by Naan 'N' Curry for the cheapest (maybe not the best) late night grub.
Also if you're looking to view some funny Indian v Paki fights, go here. -

Austin, TX
This place had blaring music (with no one dancing or looking as if they were going to dance anytime soon), god-awful food (the mixed vegetables were so greasy I had to walk away), and a poor attitude (the guy that took my order and his partner looked and acted like gangsters; the meals are not served with rice- as is a pretty standard amenity with most Indian restaurants; and it was served without utensils or napkins or water.)
It's not cheap if you don't eat it. After throwing my money away here, I immediately found a tasty Thai place down the road.
I wondered why, when asked, the front desk clerk did not mention this place for late night eats. Live and learn. -
Review from Ken G.
Wow...pretty disappointing.
I've been to many, many Indian/Pakistani buffets and even the ones that aren't that great are usually still okay...this one was very much a disappointment. Everything looked okay, but the taste just didn't live up to what I was expecting. Everything just really lacked in flavor, which is surprising since there are so many spices in each dish.
This place is very dark with very little lighting...customer service is okay. -
Review from Jill T.
I am giving this place 3 stars because it was an interesting place. We came late at night-like 2am. The Bollywood Music was pounding, really handsome, polite Indian men were dancing around...WAIT...isn't this an Indian food place??? Yes it is but it has nightclub atmosphere at night. We took food to go, and the food well....it was okay. The sauce was good, and all there really was was sauce, no real meat or anything much else to it. Interesting for sure....quite the late night scene.

Situation
- I've been here for lunch and late night (after 1am in the morning)
Pros
- Open late (closes at 4am)
- Takes credit cards
- People dancing late night on the weekends
Cons
- The food is not that great for lunch (but not bad at 2am)
- Your clothes will smell of Indian food after being in there for a few minutes
Overall
For lunch/dinner, this would not be the place to get Indian food. However, it's a good place to go after the bars/clubs shut down on the weekend. -

I suppose my review is going to look a little skewed after admitting that I went to Naan 'N' Curry after getting wasted at an art show in the Tenderloin (that, and I'm from Honolulu where Indian/Pakistani restaurants are a sad minority,) but the combination of Naan 'N' Curry's chicken curry with its roasted chicken and richly spiced sauce and their steaming, buttery naan on a chilly day was especially heavenly nonetheless (!)
The club music was a little too much for my inebriated ears, but everything else was satisfying for a cold, drunken night out! -

Horrible service, especially for delivery. Takes an extremely long time, along with the extremely rude delivery guy who yells at you and demands tips even though he delivered your food in 90 mins....Not worth it! Look elsewhere for quality Indian food with less heartache.

Well, I have had the opportunity to experience the food and "disco" at Naan N Curry when I was drunk and when I was sober. And man, does the striking difference in taste hit you when you are sober as hell!
A) First and foremost, avoid the restrooms. You don't know what virus or bacteria might seep into your blood via your skin even if you used toilet seat covers.
B) Stick to their butter chicken. Everything else can be avoided.
C) You will enjoy the Sheila ki Jawaani and bhangra music when you are drunk. You will enjoy them even more when you are sober, watching people make complete asses of themselves :-D
No, it's not authentic. But, it's close to authentic when there's nothing else that sounds as good when you are starving. -
Review from Zain D.
My dinner has me doubting every 5 star rating I've ever given.
Their Karahi Paneer (extra spicy) is the best curry I've ever had. Their naan is as amazing as it gets. The service is top notch (delivered in half the time and the food was burning hot when it got here).
This is, hands down, the best indian restaurant in SF.Listed in: A SF fix for every craving.

Los Angeles, CA
Entering Naan 'N Curry is like entering a genie's bottle-- the interiors had bright, fluorescent lights with plush, velvety surfaces. There was an air of smoke (from cigarettes? from the kitchen? from burnt naan? who knows...) and smells of foreign spices from all over the world (but really, I mean India). But Naan 'N Curry still kept it real with wooden chairs, un-mopped floors, an untidy kitchen, and utensils with water stains = a genie's bottle in Tenderloin.
We ordered...
1. Chicken tiki masala-- you really can't ever cook chicken tiki masala wrong, so I'm not sure if I'll rave about this dish. The masala here tasted as it does in all other Indian restaurants...
but here's a **TIP, if you take it to go, I think they give you more ;)
2. Palak paneer-- this definitely made my trip worth it. Palak paneer is a creamed spinach dish that is mixed with cheese and these tofu-looking-things. This is my favorite dish, and i think Naan 'n Curry did it justice.
**TIP- If you love palak paneer like me, be sure to try it with yogurt sauce (it's a runny yogurt most Indian food places provide at the bar). It adds a hint of a sour tang that makes the spinach even more delicious!
3. Chicken curry-- this dish comes with about 80% sauce and 20% chicken. There was no actual "curry" because the sauce was a mix of oils and, what seemed to be, curry. I don't think we'd get this again... at least, definitely not as a take-out dish because you need a whole bag of rice to soak up that oil. It's not that convenient to eat either :( even though the chicken in it was pretty good...
4. Naan-- like I am a sucker for palak paneer, my boyfriend is a sucker for naan. I think he really liked the naan here, but I'm not too sure because he likes all naan... his love for starchy bread foods does not have any bias -_-
In my opinion, naan is like rice at a Chinese food restaurant... it's either edible or not. In this case, it was edible :)
All in all, a pretty satisfactory first meal in San Francisco. It is definitely Indian fast food though... so, 3 stars for edible naan! -

Great go to place after the club or bar. Its conveniently opened late till 4 am for all of those who like to sober up after a wild night. Been here once on a saturday night around 2am-4am and it was PACKED! People of all sorts. Great Indian music, lots of dancing. However, expect a long line for the janky restrooms in a scary secluded back aisle with groping pervs -_-. Other than that and the long wait for the food, the food was pretty good.

Review from Nadeem A.
So it looks like everybody loves this place because it's the perfect late night spot after a night out on the town. Well, the wife and I don't really stay up late nor spend nights out on the town, so we pretty much predicted what we would think of the place before setting foot in the place.
We went on a Sunday, around lunch time, and the place was pretty empty when we got there. But when we were leaving, a giant tour bus stopped and a bunch of people got off to fill the restaurant. Anyway, the wife and I went for the $8 lunch buffet, and it's good, for what it is. That is, don't go expecting an awesome buffet (like the Hayward Pakwan's Sunday brunch buffet), but expect a variety of options that taste like you'd expect something for $8 would taste like.
The food was mediocre to decent, with a lot of variety in their dishes. In particular, the chicken tikka masala was slightly sweet and the other curries were slightly bitter. However, the seekh kababs and tandoori chicken were pretty good.
I don't think we'll be back, since Shalimar is just right around the corner. I'd rather pay the higher prices there for the much better food. -

On March 8,2012 your San Francisco downtown location offered a Groupon Now, $10 for $6. I bought the groupon, printed it out and took it to your location. As I walked in the door, I noticed the sign advertising your $7.68 Lunch buffet. when I ordered the buffet and showed the man at the cash register my Groupon, he said it wasn't good for the buffet and was only good on menu items, then shoved a menu at me. I had to almost beg for his attention to place my order; it wasn't busy, it was 1:45pm. I f the groupon wasn't good for the buffet, it should have said so on the groupon.
the food came, as expected, and was adequate, the man who brought me the food, was the only person who was polite to me, the whole visit.
When I finished the food, I went to use the restroom and wash my hands. after I locked the door and was taking care of nature, a man was pounding on the door and yelling something in a foreign language; I replied, I would be out in one minute. He quit yelling and I heard what sounded like a water leak outside the door.
When I opened the door, one of the workers from the restaurant was standing there after having just urinated on the door and the floor of the hallway! (He was wearing a black shirt and black pants, and had dark black hair) I just looked at him in amazement, then turned and left. He never even washed his hands before returning to the restaurant
People who use Groupon, should be treated like real customers. They have already paid their money and deserve to be treated with same respect, courtesy and benefits as any other customer. I have previously brought people to this restaurant, including people from SFBC. After this experience I will go elsewhere. This experience reflects poorly on all Naan 'N Curry restaurants, it reflects poorly on Groupon, and most of all on the health practices of Naan 'N Curry! -

Huge selection of different options... Lots of vegetarian options. Super friendly service. Quick service.
The buffet was awesome.
Were vegetarian and were very surprised how good everything was and the staff was great at showing us some options to try.
Inside it isn't anything overly special but you should give it a try ... you will like it! -

Naan N' Curry is Panda Express-like quality Indian food that is dependable, reliable (Always delivered on time, they know your address, etc.) and cheap...and sometimes, that's just what you want. I like good food. I like healthy food. But I also like Panda Express. and Naan N' Curry is the locally owned Panda Express of Indian food. And for that I support.
Besides, it's not even like the food is bad--The Potato naan is really the tastiest thing you can ever buy for 2 dollars.
I guess the reason why I give them 5 stars is because I judge them for what they are trying to be, not for what we expect them to be.
(P.S: I'm eating this at 4:06 because they deliver until 3:30 AM : ) -

Ok, I know It's kind of pathetic but every time my friends and I go out in the city, I look forward to the end of the night...being tipsy and chowing down on some yummy Indian food.
I LOVE THIS PLACE simply because their butter chicken is DELISH and it's open WAYYYY LATE!
They blare Bollywood/Bhangra music, you can't hear a thing. There will be drunk people dancing around. There is absolutely no order to the line...and most likely, you'll see 2-3 fights while you're sitting at your table. But believe me, it's worth it! Yummy, yummy! -

I'm pakistani and this is the best restaurant in sf and best buffet! For $10, you get to choose from about 20 different dishes (about half veggie and half non veggie). The only thing that i dont really like is sometimes, you have to wait for certain items to be made because they ran out (naan, kabab). Other than that, its hella cheap for $10. The spices are very mild and made to the general population can enjoy, without having their mouths set on fire.
oh yea...and it turns into a club after 2am....ummmmmm......not my kind of thing, but yea.
Other than that, its the best! -

Food is okay here. The curries are honestly a bit too... salty. Salty to the point that you may not be able to eat it... at least without stuffing your face with naan. The only benefit to this place is that they're open super, super late. Like 4 am late. My boyfriend and I always go here after a late night of hanging out in the city. It's perfect for those nights when we stay out late at the bars. And that's pretty much it.
We always go for the lamb curries, though we've had some of the chicken curries too. And almost always, we get takeout so we can eat in the comfort of our own home while we relax... the music they blare over their crazy intense sound system is just a little be too much after a long day/night. It is pretty hilarious though, since they play all kinds of music (I could've sworn that they played Korean/Japanese music randomly). Most of the music is Bollywood type stuff though. It's basically a club.
The naan is usually huge. That's definitely a plus... 'cause you need a lot of it for this curry. The curry itself, besides being too salty, is also super oily, which we have to get rid of when we get home. There are the most random people that end up here at the end of the night, so it's a rather interesting people watching place. Location can be pretty sketchy though... so I guess you should know what you're getting into.
I was pretty sure the Naan 'N' Curry chain provided free milk tea... but not here. Maybe they stopped doing it a while back. The other one on Irving does (or did... maybe they stopped doing it now). Haven't been in a long time, so I don't know. Also never had their buffet style food... always get in too late for that. In terms of Indian food, I've definitely had better... and the only reason we keep going back is because it's one of the few places actually open at weird hours... -

We like trying new food so we frequent buffets in the SF area. We found a winner in this place on Sunday March 25, 12. I had never had Pakistan food before and am unfamiliar with it so a buffet is a safe way to get to know food. Even though everything was labeled I'm not of what I ate beside curry chicken which was sooo good. If you know good Indian food you will like it, if you are a newbie like me you should like it, I did lol.

Its a Naan n Curry. The curries were slightly watery, the naans not as crispy/fluffy as I'd like... lots of things make this place (and others in the chain) subpar Indian food. But really, what can you expect?
However, I have one "word" for you: BYOB. Yep. Which is why this is the perfect spot for pre-gaming and post-drunken munchies. -
Review from Sheryl G.
I normally love naan and curry, but if this is the location that is buffet style it's alright. For one the bathrooms were covered in graffiti in the back so it didn't seem safe, the chicken tikka masala didn't taste the away I remembered it, neither the rice, naan, or salad. I loved the old way where it was sit down and you got huge plates of food and the spice was just right. Like the perfect meal to eat on a cold bay area day.
I missed this and so my last trip m best friend took me and m family to eat it and were sadly disappointed especially since we don't live here anymore it's sAd to s
See a good thing go bad... Ehhh the old naan and curry I used to go was a few blocked down from California street... Long long time ago. -

San Mateo, CA
My boyfriend and I love Naan-N-Curry and sometimes drive all the way to SF from San Mateo just to have it. We love their paneer, chicken, and lamb tikka masala and their rice and naan is good as well. We are the type that tends to stick to the same dishes so we almost always order the same things unless we go for their buffet.
Our stomachs kinda hurt sometimes after eating here but it's like drinking - no one likes the hangovers but we still drink because its so enjoyable at the moment =). -
Review from Cookie V.
We walked by here a couple of times and decided to try this place since it had a dinner buffet for only $9.99. I know, I know, an Indian buffet isn't always the best idea, but I've actually had some really good Indian buffets, so that's why I thought this would be good.
The spread for the buffet was a little small and the food was way too spicy. It was inedible because it was so spicy. Even my boyfriend, who eats spicy, thought it was too spicy.
We also ordered samosas, which were not good.
Not going back! -
Review from Patryk T.
San Francisco, CA
Sure it's not "gourmet" Indian food like you might find at a place like "Dosa" in town but hey - its fast, its the cheapest (as far as I know) and its open wayyyyyy late.
What better place than Naan n Curry to satisfy your late night Indian cravings? None as far as I am concerned. Plus after a few bites of the spicy mint chutney it's not like flavor is an issue anymore, trust me, it has a kickkkkkkkk! -
Review from Janet H.
Meh... not too impressed.
Came here to refuel myself after the NWM (woot!) and decided to buffet it out! I've heard my friends rave about this place, but I didn't find it that great... The place looked really dirty and oh God, the bathroom was horrendous!!! I'm getting shivers thinking about it. I think the fact that this place was so dirty and run down made my dining experience really uncomfortable...
I felt I've had more flavorful Indian food, and I wish the dishes were spicier... Definitely could see tons of oil on the surface of the sauce of each dish! It also looks like the food has been sitting in the plates for a long period of time. Usually whenever I eat all-you-can-eat Indian food, I eat until I KO or feel sick.. .but here, I wasn't yearning for more and stopped eating when I was satisfied...
Also, service was kind of weird. Were we supposed to pay after or before we eat?? -
Review from Roy N.
I think Cathy K said it best when she wrote in her review that this was the equivalent of an Indian version of Denny's. Hilarious and so true!
Convenience is the key word and it is a buffet so I was drawn to this location. Visually, the dishes just did not look appetizing, although they actually tasted a lot better than they looked.
When paying at the register after your meal, be sure to let them know if you intend to pay with a debit/credit card because otherwise you will be promptly chastized like me and the other customer before me as they do have different pricing for cash and plastic.
Never been there late night...it turns into a club? Why go to a place where you can have bottle service when you can go home with the comforting aroma of curry wafting from your Armani. Thanks, but I just don't see the appeal. Food was good though. -
Review from Kavita B.
This is so reminiscent of the Indian takeaway joints in the UK... except these guys can actually make Indian food. It's even comparable to some of the dhabas I've eaten at back in the motherland (as far as ambiance). Food is cheap, but hits the spot like none other. It can unfortunately take forever for the food to come out if you hit this place up at peak time (i.e. when all the clubs close), but still worth it.
Just don't use the bathroom. Ever. -
Review from Krystal C.
Oakland, CA
I was pleasantly surprised at their quality of food given that they are one of the few restaurants still opened at 2am. I came here with a party of 14 and there were plenty of places to sit. The place is huge with lots of table. They have super loud music blasting from giant speakers that are nailed to the wall so it is almost like going to another club after a club but with food- and smells like curry.
The food portions are about right, not too big or too small. The naan is good. There isn't much service as you line up and order yourself but they do bring the food to your table when it is ready, which is pretty quick. The only thing, their plates and cups are pretty dirty but I'm sure they are banking on the fact that the majority of their customers are too drunk to even notice- which is probably true. -
Review from Tim W.
Pretty much the same as the Naan n Curry in Berkeley, which I haven't been to in at least 4 years. Only came here because of a Groupon deal.
I got the Chicken Curry. It wasn't very flavorful and was watery, making it difficult to actually pick up the curry with the naan. It just kinda made it soggy. The chicken was well cooked but nothing special. The chai tea is always good and has a more significant taste of cream than other places, which I like.
There are so many better places, especially in the city, where you can high quality Indian food. So just pay the few extra bucks and get something that will satisfy you. -

Great food, reasonably priced. The dishes can be a little on the oily side but only a little. This place is mostly self serve, think getting your own place setting and pitcher of water.

Review from Kellie T.
I hadn't been to N&C in a few years, and though the food wasn't terrible, it wasn't great either. I came with a coworker for the Indian buffet and quickly realized that my favorite place in Hayward had been spoiling us.
There were only a few dishes available, almost all chicken, and nothing too exciting. The chicken tikka was alright, the biryani was a little bland, and the only thing that really stood out was the carrot halava. I was most disappointed in the kheer, which was super mushy and lumpy at the same time.
Bottom line: Not worth the price for such a small selection. -

This place is so weird -__- This is the first Indian restaurant that I've been to that had dancing.
Friends and I stopped her after clubbing. My friend lovessss butter chicken haha so we got Chicken Tikka Masala (close enough) and naan. We all devoured the food! I hate it when people try to compare the different chicken tikka masala dishes. My mom doesn't even make that at home...it's such a junk food type of dish. I like it when it tastes different everywhere I've eaten it.
So the food was pretty good. The place was really packed! If you can't deal with a crowded place, don't come here late at night on a weekend. And if you can't stand watching a lot of Indian people being drunk and dancing, not your place either. The music was pretty good! It kept us entertained while eating (music and the drunk people lol). -
Review from Saliha B.
I'm of South Asian descent and my mom makes some to die for Pakistani food so I always get extremely disappointed at places like this. The buffet was a bunch of greasy, blah Indian food under heat lamps for too long. The yogurt tasted thin and gross. The best thing here was the chai, and really how hard is it to make tea in a perculator?
Will never be back. This place seems more like it appeals to people who wouldn't know good Indian food if it hit them on the head. I have higher standards, sorry...and so should you. -

Late night Indian is a fantastic idea...I could comment on the food, but I was pretty drunk when I ate it. So recommend if...
A) It's been a good night of drinking...what better way to soak up that morning hangover than with some samosas?
B) You're crashing at your buddy's place and want to blow up his toilet with the spicy food you just ate.
C) You're taking a girl home and want to dutch oven her right...Indian food can only help.
