I  bought a Keratin YOUSWOOP AND called in the middle of the year..NO response..I set aside and forgot about it.. Just came across again and called.. it took days to get back to me..I asked about the Tues scheduling times and she said there isn't one although it is still on their outgoing message.. FINALLY scheduled and ended up with the flu..Didn't get a call back for 1 week exactly.. I JUST spoke to the girl who informed me their schedule is pretty booked for the rest of the year...

I told her that's fine I will just trash it... She said I will get a call back later and we will see if I can update this review but quite frankly after the exchanges thus far I am probably going to just lose the money it cost...

UPDATE...NO return call ..Lost  $120.00 but they lost a potential new life time client...

Kinda sucks...my friend recommended the salon and I called to make an appointment for a highlight and ask a question...last week - I believe it was Thursday. No one picked up so I left a voicemail.

No one called me back, so I guess new business is not important.

Mylissa's Little Gallery: I tried to love you.  I wrote you a glowing Yelp review (just removed it) and referred friends to you after meeting you only one time.  As it turned out, I was too quick to assume that your errors in scheduling for my first appointment (which started an hour past its scheduled appointment time) were a one-time occurrence, and I swept it under the rug after you went out of your way to offer me a much-needed eyebrow wax.

I just went to Mylissa's for a second appointment this past weekend.  Isabella (or a name similar to that) scheduled my appointment for 2pm with Mylissa.  After arriving at 2pm, they asked me to come back at 3:30 for my cut/highlight appointment because I "wasn't in their books plus they were running a bit behind."  I came back and waited.  At 4:15, they shampooed me and sat me in the salon chair.  At this point, I was notified that there was no time to fit in my highlights.  I REALLY wish I would have been told this prior to spending OVER 2 HOURS WAITING.

My hair was cut and blown dry (or half dry, at least) within 15 minutes.  They offered to accommodate me by doing my highlights after-hours during the week to compensate for the scheduling mix-up, and told me to call with my schedule.  I called.  I left a message.  Someone returned my call, spoke to me for a minute, then said she would "have to call me back in five minutes."

They did not call back.  I called, left a second message...still no call back.  I'm not going to beg them to do my hair.  There are hundreds of salons in this city, and even though I'm DYING to be a loyal client to one, this is not a good fit for me.

I just made a color appointment elsewhere...oh, and they're going to fix the botched, rushed haircut, too.

I wish i could review the haircut service here but alas, i experienced the same thing as other reviewers on here, no phone call.  I purchased a groupon and called a couple of times to set up an appointment.  No one picked up the phone and no one called me back either time.

I did go (without a groupon) for a facial a while ago and it was fine.  But just fine.  The one thing i didn't like was the specialist who did my facial kept talking about a guy she was dating and how the last guy was a 'shithead' etc.  I know we were just chatting but i didn't like the casual use of bad language, it's not professional.  Even if you feel totally comfortable with a client and you are gossiping away with each other, i still think you should stay professional.

I too had a http://youswoop.com certificate. I called several times to get the answering machine during business hours. I left two messages and received no phone call back. Never redeemed the certificate.

I went here a few months ago, and I've been meaning to write a review.  I went to Tina, not Mylissa.  While I loved my cut, the color was not great.  I got full highlights/low lights.  When I got home and was looking at the color, I could see that it was a very poor job.  I liked the color itself, but it must have been her technique that was off because around the crown of my head, I could see a lot of my natural (darker) hair color that had not been colored.  It looked like I was already in need of a color job (where you see an inch or so of your natural color followed by old blonde coloring)!  I don't usually see any "growth" for at least a month after I get my hair colored, so this was really disappointing.

Also, I went on a Saturday morning, and it was just me and Tina in there, which was a little awkward because you feel like you need to talk or something to break the silence.  I'm used to at least 1 other stylist working at other salons I've been to (or many stylists).  But that's just me.  She was really nice, but if I didn't have a You Swoop, I definitely would not pay full price for the color I got.

I did a photoshoot as a favor here so I can practice my photography.  Needless to say, I got alot of practice.

Parking for this area was....a challenge.  At no fault of the salon, and for those that want to get a good cut and come here... be forewarned.  There are some lots to park and some meters, but the train if you really need to use it, is close by.  The building that its' in is older and ...classic is the word that comes to mind (I love old architecture.)

Really friendly atmosphere, and the whole staff was social and welcoming.  Mylissa her self shampooed and cut my hair, asking me how I liked it cut, and some of her products she was using.  My hair looed great and didn't have that look of alot of product in it, even though she used alittle, which was all natural.

I would probably ask if I had a choice during the shampoo, I think a hot towel on the face would be a cool addition.  But everything else...full marks. I am sure she takes walkins as well as appointments but not sure.

Mylissa did a fantastic job cutting my hair! I went here to use my youswoop that was expiring. My appointment was actually at 5PM, but I was running a bit late because of traffic and arrived at 5:20PM. Mylissa had started another client's haircut since I was a bit late so I waited for about 30 mins before my turn. It was fine because I was running late, not her fault at all for the wait. When I arrived, they took my coat, asked if I wanted any water, tea, etc, or magazines to read while I waited.

Before my cut, they shampooed my hair... OMG, the shampoo and conditioner smells AMAZING! After wards, Mylissa talked to me a bit before cutting my hair to see what style I wanted and gave me her opinion on what she thought would be good.

At the end, after the blow-dry and style, my hair looked SO NICE. I was VERY pleased with the service I received here and I hope to go back in the future. Mylissa and everyone at the boutique were very friendly. I had a enjoyable experience getting my hair cut here.

    great job MYLISSA!

I went to Mylissa's using a YouSwoop coupon for a haircut.

Location/Ambiance: I have to agree with other reviewers who mentioned that the location, while conveniently located in the Loop, is hard to find and is very atypical for a salon - it's basically just a small office converted into a tiny salon. However, it is clean and well-stocked and didn't feel weird.

Hairstyle: My hairstylist - not Mylissa - was really nice and listened to me and was easy to talk to, I liked her a lot. The haircut itself was not the best I've ever had but it wasn't a disaster either - one weird thing was that I asked her to blow dry my hair straight and I have wavy hair but it's not impossible to straighten - as soon as I walked out the door a gust of wind messed it all up again!

Summary: SO I wasn't really impressed and probably won't be going back to pay full price.

My only complaint is trying to schedule an appointment because no one ever picks up the phone.  Otherwise, its a great place.  Mylissa is so sweet and talented.  And the rest of the staff is very friendly as well.  The location is perfect for Loop workers.  Prices are right.  Its my first choice as long as I can get an appointment :)

Yay! After going to about 20 different salons I finally found "the one". Mylissa has a lot of passion about hair and her business- I really appreciate that!  A few things that were awesome-

    - She does cuts and highlights. Usually I have going to seperate people for both but I think its more cohesive when one person does it.

    - The salon is comfortable and scene-free. I prefer my scenes on Friday and saturday nights with a few drinks in me, not when I have tin foil on my head and an ill-fitted smock on.

    - Candace is a complete doll. I highly recommend her for facials or waxing. She did my eyebrows and they are the best they have looked in ages.

-Where else would you get a handwritten note mailed to you thanking you for your business? I didnt even get that the last wedding I attended!

    - I have gotten a ton of complements on my hair and texts messages for her contact info...

    Anyway- go!

I found this salon because of a Kertin coupon offered on You Swoop.   It's a smaller salon and everyone is very friendly. No attitude that some groupon-customers encounter at other salons.  In the loop, so very convenient for loop workers. Mylissa (owner) did the treatment and she was amazing. It was my first treatment, so she explained everything and it was clear that she really knew what she was talking about.  Since my visit, I've had another Keratin treatment at a different salon and it did not even compare;  Mylissa  really took her time, she uses Juvexin products, and the treatment lasted a full 3 months. She basically performed a miracle on my hair.  Highly recommended!

I went to Mylissa's yesterday for a haircut and highlights after purchasing a YouSwoop for the salon.  It was a little hard to find since it is in an old building and I would have appreciated some direction when I booked the appointment as a first time customer. That aside, I arrived 5 minutes early for my 5:30 appointment and was told Mylissa was still finishing up another client. I sat in the waiting room (directly next to Mylissa and the client since it is a small space) for 40 minutes until she was able to take me.  During that time when I was sitting 5 feet away, I was never offered an apology or acknowledged.  The water machine was empty and I think for the price, far better service can be found elsewhere. I commented on the time and she responded "Yeah, I'm late. It happens." Finally after that I was offfered apology. We did have a nice conversation and the haircut was good, but unfortunately I no longer had time for my highlights and will need to make another appointment elsewhere for them.

Mylissa did offer me a free haircut for my next visit which I appreciated.  I really value service and if I were treated well when I arrived and been given a decent haircut, it probably would have been 4 stars.

I had  my hair cut at Mylissa's Little Gallery on August 11th. They were able to make a last minute appt for me and were very convenient. I did not have my hair cut by Mylissa (She was actually not even at the studio itself), but my stylist was very nice and did a wonderful job with the hair cut. We had a good conversation. I had a you swoop for my hair cut so the deal was great. I walked to the studio and was not that hard to find when your walking on Washington. I would like to try to have Mylissa do my hair cut the next time. The stylist even blow dried and straightened my hair which was very nice of her since I was going out later that evening. I thought the overall experience was good.

I'm so happy to have found Mylissa - I started with having her do my highlights, which are always absolutely perfect and exactly what I want.  She now does my cut as well, and I just love her work completely!  She really listens to what a client wants, and is so dedicated to giving someone their very best look.  And besides the impeccable quality she always brings, it's clear that she really has passion for what she does, and when you're happy, she's happy.  It's always a treat to pay a visit to this salon!

She is doing hair for myself, bridesmaids, grandmas AND moms.  She has a great range and understands different hair textures, and what everyone wants and needs.

I purchased two of the you swoops for a haircut. I booked my appointment with the first available stylist and got a quick appointment. I received the WORST haircut I have ever had! It did not flow well, and the girl (Tina?) gave me one chunky layer rather than several nice long layers. The worst part was that it resembled a mullet. The blowout was also awful, leaving my hair flatter than if I had blew it out myself. I have one more swoop which I will not be using! This was a complete waste of money! Mylissa has great reviews, but after this experience I would rather not chance it.

Although I would love to provide a review on how my hair appointment went, I can't - because I was totally blown off by Mylissa. After booking an appointment with her on a Friday afternoon for the upcoming Sunday, I had shown up at 11 AM to my appointment (after looking for parking for 30 minutes and paying $14 for parking!). The doors were locked, the lights were off and not a soul to be found in the tiny little studio. I tried knocking and calling to no avail. After 20 minutes I had known that she was not going to show. I was expecting a call at least on Monday with a profuse apology. Nothing. Instead, I get a call on Tuesday with a VERY weak apology, claiming that she wasn't able to make it because of "the weather"  and "told the security guard" that she wouldn't be able to make it. There was no guard in the buildling - and I was there for 30 minutes. She never bothered to contact me ahead of time, or even the next business day (Monday). And, when I told her how upset I was (the entire ordeal was 3 hours long for me), she was extremely defensive and not apologetic at all. There are so many hair studios in Chicago. There is no reason to have to deal with rude, unprofessional hair dressers!  My suggestion is to move on to another that will respect your time and patronage!

So I also found out Mylissa did makeup as well.  I had a very fancy wedding to go to at the Trump hotel, and Mylissa did an amazing job with my makeup!  She made me look amazing- did I mention it was a fancy wedding on my birthday?  Mylissa is so friendly and ready to try anything, which is what I love about her!  Since this wedding she has dyed my hair a couple times and she even made a hair piece for the wedding I just attended a couple weeks ago- it was beautiful!  Since the wedding was in CT, it made me sad that I didn't have my own stylist that day!
