I couldn't stand my out of control hair any longer. My normal hairdresser has been unavailable so I took a chance and called to make an appt. I have heard very good feedback from mother-in-law and girlfriends about the massages and facials so I thought I take a chance with a cut and style.

Time: Saturday afternoon at 3:30PM. I made the appt. the day before and they require a credit card to reserve the time. You have 24 hours to cancel or be prepared for the charge.

Location: In a shopping center behind the BoA bank. Plenty of parking and easy to locate. So excited to have such a lush place in SL.

Place: Right when you walk in you feel like your in a new world. Greeted by a friendly receptionist, very clean and nice decor. There are some shelves with product, a Smashbox makeup center which is fun for a girlie girl like me to snoop through. A few seats to relax before your appt. My hair stylist Natalie was very prompt she came out greeted me and walked me to the back.

Experience: Natalie asked what I wanted and after a few minutes of the consultation she let me know what she recommended then she got started.  The appt. lasted an hour with the great relaxing shampoo and massage, cut and style. I love that she explained what she was doing and the products she was using. I am VERY satisfied with the end results and service she gave.

Price: Some might think it is a little pricy but you get what you pay for. They give you top notch care and customer service.

I can't wait to come back and try the other services. My only regret that I didn't come sooner.

All of my life, my mom's best friend cut my hair. When I went into college, she moved to Hawaii and as much as I'd love to travel to Hawaii for a hair cut, I definitely can't afford that. When My'Amour first opened, my mom, aunt and I went to get our toe nails done for a Mother's Day present. I don't remember who did my nails but she was great! The customer service starts as soon as you walk in and they make sure you're comfortable while you wait.

Since then, I've been there twice to see Sarah for a haircut/color. I moved away for a year and got blonde highlights in my dark brown hair. Sarah was able to dye my hair to match it perfectly. Both times, my hair cut was EXACTLY how I wanted it, even though I'm very vague when I get my hair done (I normally end up saying, "Uh... I don't know, just cut it?) and somehow, Sarah knows what's best. From the shampooing to the cuts and colors to the chairs they have, it's a very comfortable environment and the ladies working there are incredibly kind and welcoming. I'll be experiencing the massage area of the Spa soon as a birthday present for my mom so I'll make sure to put a follow-up on that part.

Last but not least, it's a tad pricey. But in this business, you get what you pay for. If you want to go somewhere and get a $10 hair cut, be my guest but if you want a quality hair cut, come here.

So happy this place is so close to my house!

Sean is the guy to go to when you need a haircut. I know it's a bit pricey but worth it. You will get your hair washed, cut and styled! Definitely go to Sean, he's GREAT!

One thing I wouldn't go back to do here is get a mani or pedi. The time I went my nails were not completly painted missing most of the sides of my nails and for it to be so pricey.... No no no wont go back. But I will say that the cashmere lotion they use is amazing! You are well taken care of but just wouldn't go back cause the actual mani pedi job was not done well.

Great place to get a massage. Got my boyfriend a massage for his birthday and he loved it. Swedish massage!

Also great for waxing! Overall this place is great. When you walk in they always let you know someone will be right with you and offer you something to drink. Great customer service!

I LOVE this place! This spa is beautifully decorated, clean, has wonderful ambiance, & the staff is great. I love the attention to detail, like the showers with body jets, wonderful products available for use (shampoo, lotion, heated towels, etc), and relaxation room. After my service, I always chill in the relaxation room, enjoying my complimentary mimosa, fruit and brownies! My esthetician Shymell is fabulous! She is knowledgeable, gentle, and super sweet. My favorite service is the 4 layer facial. I've also received a massage from Jasmine that was wonderful! I wish my wallet could allow me to pamper myself more often!

I have been here twice - once for a cut and color, and once for a massage with Curri.

1st time - HAIR: My hair looked AWESOME afterwards, and I discovered my new favorite drink - the Poinsettia (cranberry juice and champagne).

2nd time - MASSAGE: I was amazed at how much they pamper you. When you check in you get your champagne drink, and then they take you to the changing room, which is gorgeous, and where you put on a robe and slippers. Then you are escorted to the relaxation room, where you get to enjoy brownies, fruits, teas, and lounge on big squishy daybeds.

That's not even the best part - the massage is. Curri is sooo thorough and she has a wonderful, calming presence. She did a great job, and my whole body felt amazing afterwards. I would go every week if I could. Love this place!

    i love My Amour!

I followed Theresa Ha here and I am so glad I did because eventhough it's practically around the corner from my house.

My teenager gets great trendy haircuts from Shawn.

I had the best pregnancy massage from Jasmine. The changing room is sumptiious as is the waiting area.

I've had great mani/pedis and waxing services (sorry I don't remember names of the aestheticians). And the salon always has great specials.

Now that I've raved about it I want to make an appointment!

I also got a couples massage there which was very affordable. We were offered drinks and snacks like a fruit bowl or brownie.

Holy moly moly!  I adore this place!  I've had A LOT of massages in my life -- from massages at fancy resorts to massages at Chiropractors offices to massages from masseuses who travel to you.  I would say that 75% of them aren't worth the price they cost and 20% are really good.  But then there's the 5% that are exceptional.

My'Amour is in that top 5% of salons I've been to.  Even if I were in San Francisco, I would drive to San Leandro's My'Amour for a massage!

What makes this a favorite of mine is the service, the ambiance, and the small unexpected things, like the Relaxation Room and the bowl of fruit and brownie at the end.  I also get champagne when I'm there (included in the service), which definitely adds to the atmosphere and experience while I'm there.

The owner of the salon is very friendly and hospitable, and I don't feel like a faceless customer when I'm there.  I can't say enough good things about My'Amour!

If I had to give one criticism, it would be the odd location.  It shares the same parking lot as a grocery chain and bank.  You'd never expect there to be an oasis in the middle of that parking lot!  If you don't mind the drive over there, this salon is a must-try!

The moment I set foot in this place, I knew I had found a jewel! I was greated with friendly smiles and offered water, tea or a mimosa... I opted for the water, which was nice and cold and served in a glass.  Next I was asked to have a seat to wait for the esthetician, MaiLee, I had made the appointment just an hour earlier (on a saturday!).

Mailee, the lead esthetician, knows her stuff! I came in for a brow and lip wax. I had been tweezing my own brows at home for a while since i hadn't found a good salon to go to in the East Bay. She fixed my bad work and made my brows looke nice and clean. She even gave me some instructions for upkeep at home, in between salon visits. She was gentle, friendly and knowledgeable. Mailee was so good, I set up an appointment for a facial for the following weekend!

I couldn't get enough of this place, so I asked if they had time for a pedicure.  They acommodated me no problem! Next I was greated by Stephanie Posey, lead nail technician, who led me to another part of the salon, a small room with 3 spachairs, two manicure tables and a big window looking out to the parking lot. The window had nice thin curtains that let in just enough natural light. There's a wall fixture with a water foutain and relaxing spa music playing at just the right volume making the ambience serene and relaxing.  Miss Stephanie offered me a heated lavender scented neck pillow and put a small towel around my neck to make sure it wasn't too hot on my skin. They also offered me a fruitbowl and mini-brownie, which was delicious!

It's the extra attention to detail that impressed me the most about this spa!  The service is impecable and the ambience just what I needed to relax and put the work week behind me. The pedicure was excellent! Could not have asked for anything more. Stephanie made my feet feel like baby's feet, super smooth and did an amazing job with the polish.  The leg massage was also a nice touch.  I jokingly, but not really joking, told her that I think this was my very first real pedicure ever!

I will definitely be going back for more and trying some of their other services.  Very impressed! 4 stars only because they didn't impose the no cell phone rule and there was a lady talking on her cell phone while I tried to enjoy the serenity of the spa! Otherwise they would get a 5 in every other category!!

I don't get routine mani/pedi's but if I were to, I would only go to My'Amour. My mom and I got the essential mani/pedi and it was nice that we were offered drinks and snacks like a fruit bowl or brownie.

It was my first time getting a pedicure and I loved it--it was very relaxing. I'm a Polynesian dancer so my feet are always dirty and aching. The pedicure with their sugar scrub made my feet feel and look softer for about a week.

As for manicures, it was standard-- I expected the lady to get rid of all my hang nails, but there was 1 or 2 left. However, the shaping was fine and the color lasted for about 2 weeks.

If you're looking for a very relaxing environment / great place to get your nails done, I would recommend My'Amour!

The people here were incredibly nice!  Good experience.  Came here for a hair cut.

Now, would I go back, not for a hair cut.  Haha.  I went here due to the high amounts of good reviews and fear of going to a place where they will botch up your hair do.  But I have to say I left this place feeling please, they might have cut / buzzed my hair a little shorter than I wanted but its always hard to explain what you want.

I am giving this place 4 stars instead of 5 for two reasons.  I made an appointment in the morning and the lady on the phone told me I can cancel or they will charge my CC.  I didn't like that and on top of that, when I came in, I had to wait like 15 minutes.  Apparently, they didn't know get my hair buzzed and they booked me with a stylist who only does scissors.  So they had to find a back up who was out on break to buzz the my sides.

Second reason is price... but who am i kidding, i expected to pay an arm and a leg for this place.  But then again, I have been going to my place where they charge me only 12 bucks for a cut for the past 7 years.  This was definitely an experience.

One thing that I found very interesting and made me quite pleased was the way she cut with the scissors.  Instead of cutting across horizontally, she cut down.  That I never experienced.  I totally forgot the girl who cut my hair, she was very friendly and out going.  A very good way to ease the tension.

This is my one stop for all of my self care needs.  I get my hair done here by Shawn and he does magic with my hair!  MaiLee does my eyebrow waxing and she's a master at the art, not to mention that she's also funny and super nice.  I have been here quite a few times for pedicures and each time I have never been let down, all of the ladies who have worked on my toes have been wonderful.  The front desk staff is super friendly and at this point know me by name as soon as I walk in the door.  This place is my sanctuary from the stress of the outside world.  I'm looking forward to trying out their other services, such as a massage or a facial.

Having been to My'Amour three times, I can confidently rate them a well-earned five stars.

New to the area, I was in search of a local spot to get my hair done to avoid long trips back to the North bay.  I'd been wanting a Brazilian Blowout for quite some time and after reading the reviews, decided to give My'Amour a shot.  I first went to the salon back in March for the blowout only -- still too nervous to have someone other than my regular stylist give me a cut.  I LOVED the BB and how much time it saved me by relaxing my curl. I recently went back for a "re-do" discouraged to find that the original stylist who performed my BB was no longer there. Slightly reluctant, I made an appointment with Tamisha, and scheduled a cut along with the BB treatment.  We opted to try the "Brazilian Zero" in lieu of the recent press surrounding the formaldehyde release with the original BB.

I have to admit - the BB Zero does NOT provide the same result as the original. Although I had some reduction in frizziness, the BB Zero did nothing to relax my curl - which is the result I was looking for.

I called Tamisha a week later to discuss the outcome. Without any hesitation, she immediately offered to do anything necessary to rectify the problem.  We decided to re-do the treatment with the original BB solution - no questions asked, no additional charge....and I got the result I was looking for!!!

Tamisha is a wonderful stylist. I was expecting some opposition when I called, but received nothing but professionalism and willingness to make me happy.  Additionally - my cut turned out AMAZING.  She did a dry-cut (my preferred method) and her technique was flawless.

    Long and short:

Brazillian Zero  =/= Brazilian Original, although Zero is perfect for those looking to keep the curl and reduce frizz only.

Tamisha = awesome stylist. Polished, friendly, on time, professional, and very talented...and my new regular hair-guru.

My'Amor Salon = classy, accommodating, well-run, clean...and my new go-to salon for all my hair needs. I can't wait to try the mani/pedi :)

This review goes mainly for Shawn--the lead stylist. He is one of the most talented stylists I've encountered. Some stylists don't listen to their clients; they just cut the way they want. (I've had this happen so many times; and I was gun-shy when I first went to Shawn.)  But Shawn will listen to you and get a good sense of what you're looking for.  He lets you know what your hair is capable of and what looks good on you. He communicates with you and provides great recommendations.  In the end, you walk out of the salon with fabulous hair -- stylish cuts that are easy to maintain. Five stars for Shawn!

As for the salon itself: very clean, quiet. And the staff are always friendly and accommodating.

This review is for the customer service and not necessarily the Spa/Salon as I have never had any services there.  I was hoping to book a Spa Party for my birthday at this Spa, since I had heard such great things about them from my co-workers and the Yelp Reviews.  However, before booking anything, I wanted to check the place out first, just to make sure it was the right place for me.

I decided to go in on a Sunday afternoon in August, thinking they would not be that busy to ask for a tour of the facility.  The woman at the front desk was very nice and seemed really interested in my Spa Party.  When I asked for a tour of the facility...that is where things started to go south.  She stated she could not give me one, since she was the only person working the desk area at the moment and suggested I return Tuesday morning for a tour.  I asked if I needed to schedule an appointment for the tour and she, "No, just come in Tuesday morning and we'll get all the details about your party and go over the packages with you then."  She handed me the Spa Party info sheet and the Spa's brochure.

Okay, cool.  I left My'Amour Salon & Spa a little disappointed that day, but whatever, I really wanted to host my Spa Party in the East Bay and support a Black-owned business.  The next day, I sent them an email to inquire about Spa Party Reservations and to schedule a tour of the facility, so the same thing would not happen twice.  A couple of days go by...no response...a week goes by...no response....two weeks go by...you get my drift.

So, two weeks later, I decided to just go in and ask for another tour of the facility.  This time on a Tuesday morning and guess what?  The same thing happened...this time there was a different woman working the front desk.  She too was nice enough, however she told me the other person I spoke with should have given me a specific time to come in (i.e. scheduled an appointment), since there won't be another front desk person until 10:30am.  She asked if I wanted to wait, but at that point I was already over it.  I guess this was a sign that I should not have my Spa Party at My'Amour Salon & Spa.  Sigh...

My two girlfriends and I came here because all our birthdays were in July and August, and we wanted to treat ourselves to massages, facials, and pedis.  We had a wonderful girls only time!  First, we changed into our robes and went into the Relaxation Room.  Then one by one, we were picked off to do our spa treatment.  After we were done, we were walked back to the Relaxation Room for mimosas, juice, tea, fruit bowls, and brownies before going to the next treatment.

While we were there, we were constantly gushing about My'Amour and how quickly we could go back.  It was definitely a five star experience.  The only slightly negative thing to say about the spa and salon is that the Relaxation Room could be a little bit bigger.  At one point, there were five women in there, and it was a little crowded.  Also, I would schedule more down time between treatments.  I had originally staggered the treatments so that at any point there might be two of us in the Relaxation Room to gossip, but it was not enough for a girls only weekend.

I've enjoyed generally good experiences at My' Amour, but this review is specifically for my hair stylist there, Natalie. She is a talented stylist, friendly, and a high value. I am always pleased with Natalie's cuts. Just as important, my wife is pleased with my cuts as well. Natalie is continually learning her trade, and is a good business person. I recommend her highly.

This review is for the salon only.  Specifically Theresa H.  I wish I can give her more stars.  I have done a few reviews on Yelp and this is the only one where I feel like I want to give a million stars.

I have been going to theresa for 3+ years now.  It took me 10 years to find my go-to hair stylist and I have found her in Theresa.  10 years of bad cuts and color...you can imagine the trauma.  Thus the reason for waiting three years for this review.  I just wanted to be sure.  ;)

She truly understands color.  I have black as night asian hair; its also super thick and very very heavy.   It takes forever and 3 days for the color to take.  I've had my hair with light highlights (blonde) and dark highlights (warm brown).  Theresa always gets it right .  It is never ever orange or red...just gold like I ask.  Idk how tough this is to do (I'm not a hair stylist) but in 10 years, no one has ever gotten it right consistently like Theresa has every single time.   I also have no complaints about the placement of the highlights; they are always very well blended and natural looking AND (and!) she doesn't leave too much space from my scalp so that it doesnt look like I have roots 2 weeks later.  The cuts and blow outs have always been amazing as well.  This girl definitely is a master at her craft.  I always get compliments on my hair.

Theresa is also very cool and easy going, has a calming energy.  She also truly listens to what you want at the beginning of every appt.  The prices are pretty standard for her quality of work.  I also love how I can schedule the appts. online and then get a confirmation email not too long after.

I am writing this review in my experience specifically with hairstylist Natalie Z. SHE IS AMAZING. Whenever you get your hair cut and you have this fear of not getting what you imagined, when they simply just cut your hair just way shorter or completely opposite of who you are is just the most discouraging thing ever. With Natalie I could go in blindfolded and come out beyond satisfied. She always puts what you want first and what you envision and further enhances it with her special techniques and tricks.   Also she is such an enthusiast about what she does she constantly is enrolling her self in new seminars, classes, & expos and talks about them which assures me as the customer that she genuinely is seriously about her profession.  I cannot recommend her highly enough. She understands your style, personality and shows that through your haircut. As for My Amour it has great aesthetics and is very clean. Everyone is always offering assistance and refreshments.

I had such a wonderful experience at My'Amour Salon & Spa.  I scheduled an appointment with Theresa H. for a color and cut.  I recently had my hair "ombre'd". Therefore, it was bleached blonde so I figured I would take advantage of the "blank canvas" and go RED (which i've never done before)!  I sent her photos of the red I wanted to achieve and I also shared my concerns of if the specific red would compliment my skin tone, as well as issues of bleach receiving color well.  She was very helpful in her consultation and very knowledgeable in how she was going to treat my hair so the dye would stay.  From then on, I was so excited for this change!!!
When I walked into the salon I was immediately greeted and they offered me water as I was led to the back.
The salon is beautiful! From the wood finishing to the lighting and chairs, mirrors and music.  It is modern and hip!!!
Theresa sat me down and she was even more excited than I was!  She wanted to try out a new red dye from Joico that she saw on a woman at a show in LA and it was the exact color of red that I wanted. Synchronicity!!!
As she mixed the color I expected to smell a "chemically" type odor but to my surprise it smelled like cherries!!!! And while my color was processing Theresa was able to cut my daughter's bangs.  :)
Overall, I had a very pleasant experience at My'Amour and with Theresa.  My expectations were exceeded and she achieved the EXACT color red I was going for!  I LOVE my new hair color!!!!
Thank you Theresa and Thank you My'Amour.  I will definitely be back for my touch up!!!

I will never ever stray away from this salon/spa again. I don't really have any go to techs for any of my services because everyone including my family, boyfriend an myself had exceptional treatments by all. I appreciate all they do for their clients. They go above an beyond to make their clients feel pampered and comfortable. I never thought I would find such a superb business in my small hometown of San Leandro. My'Amour is definitely a diamond in the rough.

A great spa experience in a random location.

I've come here repeatedly for mani/pedi's and I have always been treated well. I've had a couple of wtf moments in there (like when they scheduled me wrong ) but they are always quick to fix the issue (like sending me to a calm chill room to wait) though not always with the best results either (I was waiting for like, 30 minutes). So, the service could use a bit of work. Sometimes I find it hard to justify the price for my own budget but it's a great treat when I can afford it.

    1) He is excellent at what he does. I feel like I get a mini lesson each time I go there, because he gives me tips about my hair and how to manage it.  I have fairly boring hair (thin, straight, but a lot of it) but he makes it look great/shiny and soft!

    2) He is an awesome person. I love going and just talking to him... he is very down-to-earth and funny.

    3. He does my husband's hair and helps him with his crazy head of cowlicks and his bad hairstyling habits. ;)

Also, the spa is fantastic. It's gorgeous and comforting, and they always offer mimosas! :) How great is that!?

I've never, ever been happier with a stylist. If you don't go here, you fail.

    Mailee is AMAZING, AMAZING, AMAZING.

I had a full leg and a Brazilian Wax.

Now don't get me wrong waxing is a pain in the A** as it is, but Mailee made it much much much easier!
My most painful place is my lower legs and Mailee got the area done in like 3 minutes. In and Out and not the Junk kind :]

She is super friendly, funny and proffesional, and makes you feel right at home, cant ask for anything better.

    SUPER recommended!

Wow was I impressed! First off amazing hair cut by Shawn. He was helpful, offered me suggestions on shampoos and took the time to show me how to do my style at home.

Oh another note... Total spa like experience. Very relaxing atmosphere... And they had mimosa, bronwnies, fruit bowls and other goodies to give you while having your services. Price was reasonable too.., I paid only $60 but I have really thick hair so they charged a bit extra.

I will be a new regular for sure!

For my birthday every year, I like to pamper myself. This year, I chose My'Amour as my venue for the day of relaxation.

I called about a week in advance to schedule a "day of beauty" - their "grand escape". The person who answered the phone was very helpful. She walked me through the options and scheduled everything for me. I couldn't wait!

I walked in about 10 minutes before my first appointment and was immediately offered a cup of tea or other beverage. I was led to the women's locker room and given a robe and slippers and went to the relaxation room.

Within a few minutes, my massage therapist came to get me and walked me to the massage room. The massage was wonderful - not too firm - not too soft.. just right.

Then, I was led back to the relaxation room where I curled up in a ball with another cup of hot tea. I was in heaven.

Several minutes later my Esthetician came to take me to my facial. My facial was even better than my massage. Completely pampered, I returned to the relaxation room for my mimosa and healthy lunch - grilled salmon and veggies - yumm!

Later, I had an amazing pedicure and manicure. A week later and my manicure is still perfect! Amazing!

I'm sold. I will visit again. I will buy gift certificates for friends. I will be the biggest My'Amour fan EVER!

Thank you, ladies! You made my birthday incredibly special!

I made an appointment with Theresa for a Brazilian blow out, and it was awesome!!! She was funny, she knew a lot about the different types of hair, and the whole salon felt welcoming.

The price was reasonable, and I was able to buy the products after the service.  I liked the hostess as well, she didn't just sell the product but she was informative on different things that have worked for her and was able to share with me.

The salon is very nice and very clean!! I would definitely go back again!

Sadly the service I've gotten here has gone WAY down hill since they opened. During my last visit I paid for a wrap and they only wrapped my arms and legs.  I know I have a big body but wtf? I didn't pay for an arm wrap! The clinician made me feel uncomfortable and was shaming when I mentioned that I didn't feel "wrapped".

To top it off when I was rinsing it off  metal pieces of the shower started falling off and hit me on the head leaving a huge lump and a headache for days.

I was told that I would receive a call from both the front desk lady and the owner after complaining but neither bothered to follow up with me. My complaint email was also ignored.

    They've lost my business.

Came here a week or so ago for a facial. Sooooo wonderful! I didn't think I'd be getting the whole robe-slipper shabang for my facial, but I DID! Table was heated and I got a neck/shoulder massage which made me fall asleep. I was nervous about the extractions and leaving there with my face looking all crazy, but I didn't! I left feeling refreshed and rejuvenated. I came home w/ some samples but no pressure to buy the products.

Pricey but I don't mind spoiling myself for and paying that money for an experience like this. I gotta remember to bring some clean clothes to change into so I can use the shower afterward!

I don't need to beat a dead horse but I'm going to take a bat to it anyway so that you can consider coming here.  Yes, the location is extremely strange being located across from Bayfair which isn't exactly anyone's bread and butter.  Yes, the place is new.  And yes, it is wonderful!

It isn't the nicest spa I've ever been to but it can easily be the nicest spas in the East Bay.  My friends got me a gift certificate for my birthday so I used it for a Swedish massage.   On your first visit, you will fill out a questionnaire so that they know your physical history and preference for massages.  I was surprised to see soft, firm, deep, and very deep options.  I'm a total wuss so I indicated FIRM with emphasis on the shoulders.   That was a mistake for me because like I said, I'm a wuss and they basically did a deep to very deep massage on that area.  That's my fault though but if you go, ask for Jasmine!!  She's super strong.

Before and after going into the massage, they put you in a relaxation room where you can have tea and fruit and brownies!  The room is a bit small though so if other people are there, it might be a bit awkward if you keep your eyes looking.  Because honestly... where would you be lookin'??

My favorite part of this whole place are the SHOWERS.  Imagine a showerhead up top spraying water on your hair and four showerheads at your side hosing your body down.  They also carry Pureology brand shampoo/conditioner and really nice smelling body wash.  Also, there are plenty of clean towels and lockers.  Everything is clean clean clean.

It has been less than a week and I've already received a newsletter with a deal from them.  I'm not a fan of newsletters so I'll have to unsubscribe.

The stylist I had, Sarah, was very friendly and did an awesome job with my hair. I told her I wanted to keep the length but just add more layers and she did just that!  She also thinned out my hair so it wouldn't do its natural poof.  I really appreciated her taking time to make sure the cut was quality!

The only negative is that they are on the price range where I might only cut my hair once a year if I keep going to them!  It's not really in a college student's price range.  But still, quality cut.

Edit: Upon hearing we could get a $15 dollar discount if we decided to review My'Amour on yelp, after our haircuts, me and my cousin did exactly what the receptionist, Angie, asked and printed out our review and brought it back to the salon 1/2 hour later only to have her tell us that the discount applies to your NEXT haircut! Talk about misleading the customer. The receptionist did not offer much help.  She didn't seem apologetic either.

    Shawn is my God!

I am originally from Europe and back home, I have not found anyone that comes even close to this guy. My hair is tricky and before I moved to the US I thought that my hair could have to colors: Black or blond, nothing in between. After dicovering this salon, I can now enjoy hair dressers that KNOW hair and how to really do it and I can have whatever color I want! :)

Shawn is helpful, super nice and the only one I now trust with my hair. I am now going from almost black to blonde hair, and he does the process step by step, instead of fully bleaching it, like they would do back home.
The products he has recommended for me work like a charm, my hair has never been as healthy as it is now, despite the heavy coloring. I love how he will give you product tips, but doesn't pressure you to buy anything. I can't stand hair dressers that desperately tries to make you buy their stuff.

If Shawn ever quits, I will not know what to do with myself! Or with my hair at least.
I finally found the perfect hairdresser and will definately stick with him.

He has both done a trim and coloring and I highly recommend him for anyone that is frustrated with their hairdresser and want someone who has a passion for hair.

The price is a lot lower than what I am used to in Norway, so that is luckily not a problem for me.

    Love this place!!

I've been going to My Amour since the very beginning and I've had many different massage therapists, but today's massage from Curri was excellent! I will never try another massage therapist again because Curri is the only one who's top-notch and worth the money. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Now I'm a spa n00b. I've never really taken a day out to pamper myself. After having a rough month, I decided it was about time. Unfortunately, it was a last minute decision and many places are booked for the weekend. Fortunately for me, I called early this morning and luckily they had room for me.

I was a bit nervous, especially when seeing that many of the reviews are from people without pictures or have very few reviews (also, the ones about charges to their credit card, which scare the bejeebus out of me, got my fingers crossed for that one), but I set my apprehension aside and trusted that I made a good choice.

As people have stated, the neighborhood outside isn't where you would expect a spa to be located, but the place is very nicely decorated inside and has a pleasant ambiance. Their hallways can be a bit of a maze though.

Their staff is nice. I don't know what else to really say on that.

Their locker room is really nice. The showers are pretty awesome. I've never been sprayed by so many showerheads before. Very fun.

Now I'd read about the Relaxation Room, but it wasn't what I expected. It was nicely furnished, with a fake fireplace and everything, but it was a bit small, with only two armchairs and one chaise. I suppose if it weren't busy it's not so much of an issue.

I had a 50 minute Aromatherapy massage with Curri and their Signature Facial (I feel awful that I can't remember her name).

The massage was really good. Curri had just the right amount of pressure and made sure to check on me to make sure I was comfortable. My body was achy from just starting to go to the gym again, dancing all night on Friday, and general stress from life. I still have soreness in my shoulders, but I had SO many knots there. If I had reserved extra time, I'm sure they would've been worked out because the rest of me feels amazing. The aromatherapy is a nice touch, though probably not entirely necessary.

Their esthetician was running a bit late with another client, so I spent a good amount of time in the Relaxation Room. There was a point when I wondered if they forgot about me, but they did check on me and offer me refreshments and snacks. I was feeling a bit peckish, so I had their fruit bowl and their brownie. The fruit was tasty. The brownie is one of those petite brownies.

I really didn't know what to expect with the facial. I've never really had one before. I'd heard that extractions are painful and was a bit nervous about that. I also didn't know how I would feel about having steam in my face. All in all, it wasn't a bad experience. The steam wasn't too much. And the girl who did my extractions was very gentle. There was only one point that I was uncomfortable. I don't remember what she put on my face, but it was for exfoliation. It stung, more than a tingle, which was uncomfortable, but I soldiered through it. I was worried that my face would be all red and irritated or have some kind of reaction, but nothing of the sort happened. My face felt so soft and looked so radiant after the whole thing.

The Signature Facial also comes with a neck and shoulder massage. I think I went a bit overkill on the massage part, but man, I sure feel good.

My total came out to $190. I asked about the special that was posted on Yelp, since I am a first time customer:
    "Save 15% OFF any service!
Save 15% off your most expensive service! Offer valid for first time clients. Try our Pumpkin Spice Mani/Pedi or our Signature Massage!" This was posted three days ago.

Unfortunately, the girl at the front desk was unfamiliar with such a promotion. Shawn was up front and said that they could give me $15 off since it was my first time and that the listing probably was only for haircare, which is his department. I thought maybe I remembered/read incorrectly, but, as I see now as I am writing this review, that it should have been 15% off.

All in all, this was a great experience. I feel so refreshed and rejuvenated. Definitely not going to be a regular thing for me as it is a luxury expense and I am poor, poor, poor. But if I'm in need of de-stressing, I'll definitely consider coming back.

All I can say is AWESOME!  I had my hair cut today with Christine and I highly recommend her to anyone.  She was recommended to me by a close friend whose hair looked awesome after seeing Christine and I can too say she worked magic on my hair.  Reasons I recommend this place:

    1. Politely greeted when entering and immediatly offered a complimentary beverage (mimosa, champagne, cucumber water...)

    2. Upscale atmosphere that's above anything else in San Leandro and most surrounding cities.

    3. Christine took her time looking at my hair while discussing the cut I wanted prior to washing while discussing current product use and how I usually wear my hair.  No where else I have gone has ever done this.

    4. The haircut was so relaxing since it felt like she was playing with my hair that I feel asleep in the chair for who knows how long.

    5. After blow dry/styling she looked over my haircut again and made a few more snips here and there.  Once again, no where else I have ever been has done this.

Great job My Amour!  I'll definately be back soon!

This is a great place for a mani-pedi. The price is reasonable, especially considering the amazing service you get. My fingers and toes look good and hours after I left my feet were tingling from the treatment (in a good way) During my pedicure they brought me delicious fresh fruit and a brownie. Oh and they give you a warm relaxing next wrap and a cocktail -try the poinsettia (champagne and cranberry). I was lucky to have Sherry do my nails - that's a special lady. What's not to love about this place?! One point off for the bad energy at the front desk on my way out. It was such a lovely experience... it was a shame to leave on an icky note.

We're not in Kansas/San Leandro anymore.... I have gone to this complex to go to the grocery store tons of times. I HAVE NEVER EVEN NOTICED My' Amour salon. NEVER!

it's the bf's birfday. I'm thinking what to do, what to do? MASSAGE! he's never had one before! Next step check yelp! pictures look good! reviews are awesome and it's close to home! appointment booked!

So we go. My BF's super nervous cause he had no idea what the plan was. I know he's going to love it...he just has to get over that awkward fact of a stranger rubbing all over your body....

I booked with Megan and I hate myself for not remembering her name my girls name, But she was awesome! They asked what areas we want them to focus on and they did great!  We had the couples massage and i feel so good still!! Plus, they bring out fruit, champagne and brownies after!

I love the relaxation room cause it sort of eases you back to reality. Instead of just kicking you out the door and BLAM! bright lights, noisy streets and angry people.

Thanks My'Amour! for WE'LL BE BACK!

Long Review Warning: I leave nothing out!

I came here six months ago for the first time for a hair cut after someone had recommended this place. At first glance this salon is very nice, very relaxing once I walk in through the door. I received a friendly greeting and was asked if I would like a mimosa or tea. I kindly declined since I had my coffee in hand already. I filled out my form and within minutes I was escorted into the salon. I thought it must have been a slow day as the salon with completely empty but I didn't mind as it was very nice and peaceful inside.

I was referred to Teresa and she seemed nice at first. She reminded me a lot of the person who recommended this place. She didn't talk much which was fine with me because I was tired anyway, hence the coffee. My hair was mid-back, the longest I've ever had it and I just wanted about 2-2.5inches off. She washed my hair pretty quickly and then I was back in the chair.  She asked me to stand up beside the chair so she could make the first cut since my hair was long. (I have never been asked to do this before, nor have I ever seen anyone do this). She asked me to bend my knees a little and I was just hoping she would be quick as it was a little uncomfortable.

Then she kept combing my ears. Never in all the times I've gotten my hair done has anyone ever combed my ears so I was more than puzzled as to why she kept doing it throughout the haircut. I didn't want to say anything because she seemed grumpy and I didn't want her to mess up on my hair. Well, half an hour later with both ears red, my hair cut was done. She blow dried my hair and used a flat iron to style it a little. The haircut was okay, the layers in the front where a bit uneven  and she had taken off more than 2-2.5 inches like we had agreed.

I'm not sure how long she's been doing hair but I was not impressed. I did not expect to be coming out of there with sore ears and a way too short hair cut. Definitely not worth the price she charged for it. This review was only for my experience with Teresa. I am not suggesting you to not come here because this place does seem really nice and based on the other reviews on here I think it's worth a try. I do however recommend taking an appointment with someone else unless you don't mind coming out with sore, red ears.
